Sandy Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara Falls to Phillies
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 9:06 PM
Alcantara (13-8) took the loss Wednesday against Philadelphia, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out one.
Analysis: Alcantara was solid overall Wednesday, logging a fifth straight quality start, though the Marlins could muster just one run against Aaron Nola in an eventual 4-1 defeat. Coming into the day, Alcantara had allowed just one run across 27 innings in his previous four outings. His ERA now sits at 3.46 with a 1.18 WHIP and 131:47 K:BB through 27 starts (176.2 innings) this season. Alcantara is currently in line to face the Red Sox at home his next time out.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Back on bench after three straight starts
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 2:47 PM
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis: Ramirez will retreat to the bench after he started each of the previous three games while going 4-for-13 with two doubles, one walk, one stolen base, three runs and two RBI. Joe Mack missed all of those contests while recovering from a shoulder injury, but he'll return to the lineup Wednesday. So long as Mack is healthy, he'll operate as the Marlins' No. 1 catcher, though Ramirez could spell him against left-handed pitching in addition to seeing occasional starts against right-handed pitching as a designated hitter.
Joe Mack
Joe Mack Returning to Miami lineup
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 2:34 PM
Mack (shoulder) will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis: Mack missed each of the last three contests with a right shoulder injury, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale. The rookie catcher sports a .731 OPS with 12 home runs in 76 games for the Marlins this season.
Logan Driscoll
Logan Driscoll Adds catching depth to Miami organization
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 12:56 PM
The Marlins acquired Driscoll from the Rays on Wednesday in exchange for cash, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Driscoll saw time in the big leagues with Tampa Bay late in the 2024 season and was part of the 40-man roster to begin the 2025 campaign, but he ended up being released last August after missing extensive time due to a right ankle injury. He re-signed with Tampa Bay on a minor-league deal shortly after his release and has served as organizational catching depth at Triple-A during the current season, slashing .243/.337/.355 with three home runs and one stolen base over 176 plate appearances at Durham. He'll give the Marlins organization another body behind the plate and will report to Triple-A Jacksonville, where he'll join Garret Forrester and Bennett Hostetler as the club's backstops.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Launches 14th homer
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 9:33 AM
Conine went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.
Analysis: The 29-year-old got the Marlins on the board when he clubbed a Zack Wheeler fastball over the fence in right-center field to lead off the second inning. It was Conine's 14th homer of the season, and half of them have come in his last 21 games -- a stretch in which he's produced a .308/.400/.646 slash line with 11 runs and 15 RBI.
Joe Mack
Joe Mack Held out again Tuesday
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 3:09 PM
Mack (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Philadelphia.
Analysis: Mack is battling a right shoulder injury and will miss a third consecutive start. The issue isn't considered serious, but with a team off day looming Thursday, the Marlins could play it safe and hold Mack out until Friday when the team returns home. Brian Navarreto will grab another start at catcher.
Tyler Phillips
Tyler Phillips Likely to work in bulk relief Tuesday
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:09 AM
Phillips is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Cade Gibson in Tuesday's game in Philadelphia, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Analysis: Phillips has started in each of his last 12 appearances, but he hasn't exceeded five innings in any of the last eight outings and owns a 4.91 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over that stretch. The Marlins will look to see if they can coax better results from Phillips by using him behind an opener, and the arrangement should also boost the right-hander's chances of qualifying for a win compared to if he was used as a traditional starter.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez On base three times Monday
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 9:18 AM
Lopez went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI in Monday's loss to the Phillies.
Analysis: The shortstop remains mired in a 33-game homer drought, and Lopez's overall production is beginning to sag as well. Through 67 plate appearances in August, he's managed a .222/.254/.254 slash line with two doubles, two steals, four RBI and nine runs in 15 contests.
Cade Gibson
Cade Gibson Working as opener Tuesday
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 9:38 PM
Gibson will operate as the opener for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Analysis: Gibson will take the ball for the first inning or so before making way for a bulk reliever. Tyler Phillips is a candidate to follow Gibson, though the Marlins have yet to confirm their pitching plans for the second game of the series.
Anthony Bender
Anthony Bender Cleared for rehab games
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 5:05 PM
Bender (shin) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Bender has been shelved since late June with a stress reaction in his right shin. Because he's missed so much time, he's likely to require a handful of rehab appearances before rejoining the Marlins' bullpen.
Kyle Stowers
Kyle Stowers In midst of running progression
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 5:03 PM
Stowers (hamstring) is in the middle of a return-to-play running progression, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Stowers suffered a left hamstring strain just over a week ago, so it's a good sign that he's already running again to test out his injured leg. He will be eligible for activation Friday, and while it seems unlikely Stowers will be ready to go on that day, he shouldn't have any trouble being reinstated from the 10-day injured list before the end of August.
Andrew Nardi
Andrew Nardi Headed for elbow surgery
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:11 PM
The Marlins announced Monday that Nardi (rib) is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left elbow in the near future, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Analysis: Miami placed Nardi on the injured list May 30 due to a left rib cage stress reaction, but that injury is now viewed as a lesser concern after he experienced elbow discomfort while working his way through a throwing program earlier this month. After receiving a consultation last week from renowned arm specialist Dr. Keith Meister last week, Nardi has decided to undergo surgery to address the elbow injury. The type of procedure won't be known until after the operation is completed, but assuming Nardi requires Tommy John or internal brace surgery -- or a hybrid of the two -- he'll likely miss the entire 2027 season. The upcoming elbow surgery is the latest in a long line of health-related setbacks for the reliever, who previously missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a lower-back injury.
Joe Mack
Joe Mack Nursing shoulder injury
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:06 PM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said that Mack is out of the lineup Monday against the Phillies due to a right shoulder injury, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Analysis: McCullough relayed that he wasn't overly concerned about Mack's shoulder issue, but the 23-year-old catcher will be relegated to the bench for a second straight game and is considered day-to-day. Brian Navarreto will draw the start behind the plate and bat ninth, forming a battery with starting pitcher Janson Junk.
Jakob Marsee
Jakob Marsee Taking seat versus lefty
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 3:01 PM
Marsee is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Philadelphia.
Analysis: With ace lefty Cristopher Sanchez toeing the rubber for the Phillies, the lefty-swinging Marsee will receive a day of rest. Esteury Ruiz will cover center field in Marsee's stead.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Big day in Cincy
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 11:41 AM
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Analysis: A game that began as a pitchers' duel between Eury Perez and Nick Lodolo turned into a Miami rout when the Cincinnati bullpen melted down late. Ramirez did his part, reaching on an error and scoring in the eighth inning before smacking a two-run double in the ninth. Since returning to the majors following the trade that sent Liam Hicks to Tampa Bay, Ramirez has gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two doubles, one steal, three RBI and five runs in 10 games.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Launches fifth homer Sunday
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 6:49 AM
Sanoja went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Analysis: Sanoja capped Miami's late offensive explosion by taking Ron Marinaccio deep for a three-run homer, putting the finishing touches on the blowout victory. The blast was his fifth of the season and continued a productive August for the infielder. Sanoja is batting .302 with a .883 OPS and 10 RBI across 14 games this month.
Heriberto Hernandez
Heriberto Hernandez Blasts 18th home run
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 6:39 AM
Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and an additional run scored in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Reds.
Analysis: Hernandez finally broke the scoreless tie in the eighth inning, taking Tejay Antone deep for a solo homer that helped spark Miami's late offensive outburst. The blast was his second in his last four games. Hernandez has struggled to make consistent contact in August, batting .205 across 12 games while striking out in a third of his plate appearances. Through 93 games this season, he's slashing .231/.308/.459 with 18 homers, 13 doubles, one triple, 50 RBI, 35 runs and eight stolen bases.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Taking seat against lefty
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 12:50 PM
Caissie is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: Esteury Ruiz will enter the lineup in right field while Caissie takes a seat against southpaw Nick Lodolo. Caissie had started the last eight games, going 5-for-22 (.227) with one home run, one stolen base, seven runs and two RBI.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Idle Sunday
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 10:28 AM
Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: Conine will retreat to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Joe Mack, Owen Caissie and Graham Pauley while the Reds send southpaw Nick Lodolo to the bump for the series finale. Leo Jimenez will step in at first base in place of Conine, who had started in each of the Marlins' last seven contests.
Joe Mack
Joe Mack Riding pine Sunday
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 10:13 AM
Mack is absent from the lineup for Sunday's game with the Reds.
Analysis: Mack will get a breather after starting behind the plate in the first two games of the series and going 3-for-7 with a solo home run. Brian Navarreto will handle catching duties and bat ninth for Miami in the finale in Cincinnati.
