Graham Pauley
Graham Pauley Two doubles in Wednesday's rout
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 9:30 AM
Pauley went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
Analysis: The 25-year-old played his part in a 10-0 rout, collecting his first extra-base hits of the season. With Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (hamstring) on the shelf and Griffin Conine (illness) unavailable as well Wednesday, Pauley got the start at first base while Connor Norby was the DH and Javier Sanoja handled the hot corner. As Pauley puts his spring forearm injury further behind him and gets back up to speed, however, he could emerge as the Marlins' preferred option at third base against right-handed pitching. Through five games to begin the season, he's gone 3-for-13 with a run scored, an RBI and a 0:5 BB:K.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Blistering start to year continues
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 9:26 AM
Sanoja went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's rout of the White Sox.
Analysis: Miami's offense didn't need to do much with Sandy Alcantara twirling a shutout, but it broke out for 10 runs anyway, with Sanoja being one of four Marlins with multiple hits. The 23-year-old utility player has seen most of his action at third base in the early going as Connor Norby has been needed elsewhere, and Sanoja's taken advantage of his opportunities by going 7-for-12 (.583) with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored.
Sandy Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara Goes distance in dominant display
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 5:17 AM
Alcantara (2-0) pitched a complete game shutout Wednesday against the White Sox, allowing three hits and striking out seven without walking a batter.
Analysis: The right-hander produced his second career Maddux, needing just 93 pitches (69 strikes) to blank Chicago. Alcantara has enjoyed a favorable start to the season with matchups against the Rockies and White Sox. However, the star right-hander has made the most of the opportunity by allowing one unearned run on seven hits and two walks while fanning 12 across 16 innings over those two outings. Alcantara will try to continue his excellent start to the season in his next turn through the rotation, which is tentatively scheduled to come against the Reds at home next week.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Goes yard, scores three runs
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 5:15 AM
Lopez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple, a walk and two additional runs scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Lopez went yard for the first time this season off reliever Jordan Leasure, and he'd previously smacked a triple off Chris Murphy. Lopez went 0-for-3 on Opening Day, but he's hit safely in his subsequent five games. During this hitting streak, the shortstop has gone 7-for-19 with a home run, a triple, a double, two RBI, five runs scored, a stolen base and a 2:1 K:BB.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Goes yard Wednesday
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 4:53 AM
Hicks went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, two additional RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Hicks is enjoying an excellent start to the season, hitting safely in four of his first five games while already leaving the yard on three occasions. With three homers, 12 RBI and eight runs scored in 19 plate appearances through five games, Hicks should cool down sooner rather than later. However, it wouldn't be a stretch to call him one of the hottest bats in the National League over the first week of the regular season.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Getting afternoon off
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 12:03 PM
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Liam Hicks will handle catching duties for the Marlins while Ramirez receives his first breather of the season. While starting in each of Miami's first five games, Ramirez went 3-for-16 with a double, four walks, two runs and a stolen base.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Sitting Wednesday due to illness
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 9:57 AM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said that Conine won't start Wednesday against the White Sox due to an illness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Conine could still be available for a pinch-hitting appearance, but the ailment is serious enough to keep the left-handed-hitting batter out of the lineup against a righty starter (Shane Smith). Heriberto Hernandez will take Conine's spot in the starting nine, manning left field and batting seventh.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Swats first homer of year
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 7:59 AM
Conine went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Getting the start in right field and batting eighth while Owen Caissie handled DH duties, Conine took Jedixson Paez deep in the eighth inning for his first long ball of the season. Conine has found his way into the lineup in some fashion in all five of Miami's games so far but he's started only two of them, going 4-for-10 with a double, a homer, a steal, two RBI and three runs.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Inefficient in no-decision
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 7:56 AM
Junk didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The 30-year-old right-hander was comfortably sitting 94-96 mph with his four-seam fastball while mixing in a curve, changeup, slider and sweeper, but Junk threw just 50 of his 79 pitches for strikes and couldn't last long enough to quality for the win, despite getting plenty of support from the Marlins' offense. He's just keeping a spot in the rotation warm for a younger arm like Braxton Garrett or Robby Snelling, but there's been no suggestion he's getting replaced just yet. Junk lines up to make his next start at home early next week against the Reds.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Smashes second homer
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 10:36 PM
Hicks went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Monday's 9-4 loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: Hicks cracked his second homer of the campaign Monday. Most of the 26-year-old backstop's action in 2026 is likely to come at either catcher, designated hitter or first base, as Agustin Ramirez is locked in as Miami's top catcher, and Hicks is making an early case for the Marlins to find ways to get his bat into the lineup.
Chris Paddack
Chris Paddack Thrashed for eight runs in loss
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 10:19 PM
Paddack (0-1) took the loss Monday against the White Sox, allowing eight runs on eight hits and no walks in four innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Despite getting what appeared to be a soft matchup versus the lowly White Sox, Paddack completely came apart following two scoreless frames to begin his outing. Chicago plated four runs in each of the subsequent innings, though Paddack was at least able to fan six and register 15 whiffs to provide something of a silver lining Monday. Paddack's next start is lined up to come in New York against the Yankees, and he won't be a recommended streaming option for that one.
Deyvison De Los Santos
Deyvison De Los Santos Headed back to minors
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 12:54 PM
The Marlins optioned De Los Santos to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Analysis: It was a two-day stint in the big leagues for De Los Santos, who is clearing out to make room on the roster for Leo Jimenez, who was acquired via trade from the Blue Jays on Sunday. With De Los Santos now back at Jacksonville, Connor Norby should operate as the Marlins' primary first baseman while Christopher Morel (oblique) is shelved.
Deyvison De Los Santos
Deyvison De Los Santos Bangs out double in season debut
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 11:37 AM
De Los Santos went 1-for-2 with a double in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: The 22-year-old got the start at first base and hit eighth in the order against southpaw Jose Quintana, and he took advantage of the matchup with a two-bagger in his first big-league at-bat of the year. De Los Santos was called up when Christopher Morel (oblique) landed on the IL, but the Marlins have plenty of other options to handle first base, including left-handed hitters Griffin Conine and Liam Hicks as well as the righty-swinging Connor Norby. De Los Santos may be stuck in a short-side platoon role unless he slugs his way into more playing time, something that's not out of the question -- over 156 career games for Triple-A Jacksonville he's launched 24 homers, including one in the Jumbo Shrimp's season opener Friday.
Xavier Edwards
Xavier Edwards Swipes first bag of year
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 11:30 AM
Edwards went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: It was the first steal of 2026 for the switch-hitting second baseman. Edwards is hitting lower in the order against left-handed pitching to begin the year, which could cost him occasional opportunities to take an extra base, but he's generated plenty on his own by going 4-for-11 through three games with three runs scored and a 0:1 BB:K.
Garrett Acton
Garrett Acton Dropped from 40-man roster
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:37 PM
Acton was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Acton is the odd man out on Miami's 40-man roster after the team acquired infielder Leo Jimenez from the Blue Jays on Sunday. Acton has tossed 2.1 scoreless frames, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four batters in two appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville so far this season. The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers by Miami after the Rockies let him go in late January, and he will now be available to be claimed by the rest of the league once again.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Comes away with no-decision
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 4:06 PM
Meyer did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Rockies. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across five frames.
Analysis: Meyer found himself on the back foot right out of the gate after yielding a bases-clearing, three-run double to Jordan Beck in the first inning. Meyer was able to settle in after that and kept the Rockies off the board over the next four frames, and he escaped with the no-decision after Owen Caissie smacked a walk-off, two-run homer in the ninth. Meyer delivered strong performances during spring training, and it was encouraging to see him bounce back after a rough start to Sunday's game. His next turn in the rotation is slated for next weekend on the road against the Yankees.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Walks off Colorado
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 3:40 PM
Caissie went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the Marlins' 4-3 win over the Rockies on Sunday.
Analysis: The lefty-hitting Caissie opened Sunday's game on the bench due to the Rockies sending southpaw Jose Quintana to the mound. Caissie entered the game in the eighth inning but had another at-bat in the ninth, and he sent the Marlins fans home happy after his walk-off, two-run homer to right-center field. Through his first three games with Miami, Caissie has gone 5-for-10 with two doubles, one steal and four RBI.
Graham Pauley
Graham Pauley Sitting against lefty
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 12:10 PM
Pauley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Pauley has hit the bench for two of the Marlins' first three games, with both of his absences coming against southpaws. Heading into Opening Day, Pauley looked like he could be headed for a timeshare at third base with Connor Norby, but the Marlins should have starting roles against right-handed pitching available at the the corner-infield spots for both players while Christopher Morel (oblique) is on the shelf.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Idle against lefty
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 12:06 PM
Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: The left-handed Hicks was included in the lineup Saturday in the lone game of the series with Colorado against a righty starter (Michael Lorenzen), but he's been on the bench for matchups with southpaws Kyle Freeland and Jose Quintana. Hicks should have a fairly clear path to playing time versus righties while Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (oblique) are on the injured list, but at-bats could be more difficult to come by once the Marlins get healthier.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Sitting versus lefty
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 12:03 PM
Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: Conine went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's contest, but he'll hit the bench Sunday with southpaw Jose Quintana taking the mound for Colorado. Connor Norby will instead serve as the designated hitter, opening up third base for Javier Sanoja.
