Alvin Kamara
Alvin Kamara Open to working with Etienne
Tue, May 5, 2026, 7:09 PM
Kamara (knee) indicated Monday that he's excited to team up with free agent addition Travis Etienne, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Analysis: Since the Saints inked Etienne to a four-year, $52 million contract in March, there's been speculation about Kamara's future with the team that drafted him back in 2017. For his part, the veteran running back -- who is bouncing back from a knee injury that cost him the last six games of the 2025 regular season -- is amenable to pairing with Etienne in New Orleans' backfield in 2026. "I watched (Etienne) in Jacksonville the last couple years and (he's) explosive," Kamara notes. "He hit home runs. He did it in college. Strong dude, seems smart...I'm excited to see what we can do together." For now, Kamara, who is under contract with the Saints for the coming campaign, remains in the mix to work with Etienne, but it's still possible the team could elect to move on from the 30-year-old at some point in the coming weeks/months. Also in the RB mix behind the current top duo are Kendre Miller, Devin Neal, Ty Chandler and Audric Estime.
Headed to New Orleans
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 7:20 PM
The Saints signed Emerson on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Emerson worked out with the team earlier in the day and seemingly impressed enough to earn a contract. The 25-year-old has spent the entirety of his three-year career with Cleveland, totaling 202 tackles (158 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and four interceptions across 50 games. With the Saints lacking proven talent at cornerback, Emerson could have a chance to start alongside Kool-Aid McKinstry during the 2026 campaign.
Fifth-year option declined
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 4:05 PM
The Saints declined Wilson's fifth-year option Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: As the seventh overall pick in 2023 Draft and a defensive end, Wilson's fifth-year option would have come in at $14.475 million. The pass rusher's career has been disappointing thus far in relation to the draft capital invested in him, so it makes sense that the Saints' trade acquisition is more of a one-year flyer on a once-promising and athletic player and not a commitment to pursue his future. If Wilson can revive his career in 2026 with a better season, the team may look to keep his services in New Orleans long term.
Devaughn Vele
Devaughn Vele Facing competition from rookies
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 10:34 AM
Vele (shoulder) faces increased competition for playing time and targets after the Saints used three picks on wide receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: New Orleans used the No. 8 overall pick on Jordyn Tyson, who figures to start alongside Chris Olave from Day 1, and later on the Saints took Bryce Lance in the fourth round and Barion Brown in the sixth. Acquired from the Broncos during the preseason last summer, Vele appeared in 13 regular-season games for the Saints, making seven starts, and produced a 25-293-2 line on 39 targets. Following the trade of Rashid Shaheed to Seattle, Vele became a starter but was injured in Week 15 and missed the final three contests. Capable of playing the slot or outside and on special teams, Vele should have a role in 2026, but the target competition is much stiffer.

The Saints signed Hardy as an undrafted free agent Sunday.
Analysis: Hardy played in 44 games over his college career, spending three years at Elon before transferring to North Carolina State as a senior. The tight end produced just six receptions for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns in his final season, but his main value came as a run blocker. The 6-foot-5, 271-pound rookie will have to show significant special teams upside for a shot to remain on the Saints' depth chart come September.
Signing with New Orleans
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 3:09 PM
The Saints signed Donaldson as an undrafted free agent Sunday.
Analysis: Donaldson played in 13 games for Ohio State in 2025, logging 96 carries for 361 rush yards and 10 rush touchdowns over his senior season. The 21-year-old spent the first three years of his collegiate career at West Virginia, logging 171 and 163 carries in his sophomore and junior seasons, respectively. As a well-built downhill back, his upside for the Saints comes as a depth option for short-yardage situations.
Heading to Big Easy
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 1:08 PM
Jennings is expected to sign with the Saints on Sunday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Analysis: Jennings spent the last five seasons with the Patriots, accumulating 132 tackles and 7.5 sacks. The 2020 third-round pick was let by New England on March 11. Jennings is heading into his age-29 season, and he should provide veteran depth behind Carl Granderson and Chase Young.

The Saints selected Hall in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 219th overall.
Analysis: Like seemingly all Hawkeyes cornerbacks, Hall (6-foot-1, 189 pounds) is a rugged player who is well-versed on the fundamentals. The unfortunate contrast to recent Iowa standouts Cooper DeJean and Riley Moss is that Hall is a below-average athlete by cornerback standards, logging just a 4.59-second 40-yard dash with short arms (30 inches) ill suited to press coverage. If Hall's lack of athletic traits don't hold him back, there's reason to think he has the skill set necessary to at least provide quality cornerback depth at the NFL level.
Bound for New Orleans
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 3:33 PM
The Saints selected Brown in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 190th overall.
Analysis: Brown is a speedster who can take the top off the defense, compiling 53 catches for 532 yards and one touchdown in his senior season at LSU. He's very thin at 5-foot-11, 177 pounds, and he profiles as more of a sprinter than a polished route runner. Brown will likely be asked to add weight and muscle mass to his frame at the next level, and he'll need to clean up drops -- he totaled 21 drops over four seasons in college. One thing working in Brown's favor is his aptitude as a returner, which could help his case for a 53-man roster spot with the Saints. At receiver, Chris Olave and first-round pick Jordyn Tyson top the team's depth chart, and Devaughn Vele has shown pretty well in his first couple of NFL campaigns, but there is room for Brown to find a home and move up the depth chart if he performs well in camp.

New Orleans selected Styles in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 172nd overall.
Analysis: Styles didn't see much playing time over the first four years of his college career but emerged as a starter in Ohio State's secondary in 2025, when he posted 30 total tackles and three pass defenses across 12 games. He caught the attention of scouts at the 2026 NFL Combine, when he posted an impressive 4.27-second 40-yard dash time, the fastest among defensive backs. Styles struggled at times with his processing time in the secondary, but he does bring experience on special teams both in coverage and as a returner, which should help him see the field in his rookie season. On defense, his main competition for snaps will come from the likes of Jordan Howard and Jonas Sanker.
Traded to Saints
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 1:33 PM
The Raiders have traded Wilson and the No. 219 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to the Saints in exchange for pick No. 150, Rachel Gossen of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Wilson is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he recorded 35 tackles and 4.0 sacks in 17 games. In his new locale, the seventh overall selection in the 2023 Draft will get a fresh start while giving the Saints -- who were in need of pass-rushing help -- an edge player with some untapped potential.
Headed to New Orleans

The Saints selected Lance in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 136th overall.
Analysis: Lance (6-foot-3, 204 pounds) boasts adequate size to complement his explosive athletic trades (4.34 40-yard dash), and he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his two seasons as a starter at North Dakota State (five years total). He showed especially well on deep routes in 2025, when he logged a career-best 21.5 yards per catch across 13 games as a fifth-year senior. To compete for more than a rotational role at the NFL level, Lance will need to significantly expand his route tree, but in New Orleans' crowded wide receiver room there may not be much pressure to develop into more than a situational playmaker. All of Devaughn Vele (shoulder), Mason Tipton (groin), Bub Means (lower leg), Kevin Austin, Trey Palmer (ankle), Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder), Ronnie Bell and Samori Toure represent competition for Lance to earn wide receiver reps behind Chris Olave (illness) and No. 8 overall pick Jordyn Tyson.
Heads to New Orleans
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 12:41 PM
The Saints selected Wright in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 132nd overall.
Analysis: Wright worked on both the offensive and defensive lines during his six-year college career at Auburn before settling as the team's starter at right guard in 2024 and 2025. He has the strength to overpower opposing defenders and anchor an offensive line, but he'll need to work on his technique and skill to keep up with NFL-level defenses. Wright figures to work in a reserve role at guard behind Cesar Ruiz and David Edwards, with veteran Dillon Radunz also in the mix.
Snagged by Saints
Fri, Apr 24, 2026, 8:54 PM
The Saints selected Delp (foot) in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 73rd overall.
Analysis: Delp (6-foot-5, 245 pounds) sat out drills at the 2026 Combine while recovering from a hairline fracture in his left foot, but he took part in Georgia's Pro Day and logged an impressive 4.49-second 40-yard dash. Despite having started the last three of his four seasons with Georgia, Delp never tallied 25 catches or 300 receiving yards in a single year. Playing alongside Brock Bowers limited Delp's production early in his career, but expectations that he would develop into a featured pass catcher for the Bulldogs in his junior or senior seasons never truly materialized. As a rookie in New Orleans, Delp may have a difficult task competing for reps as the No. 3 tight end behind Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant.

The Saints selected Miller in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 42nd overall.
Analysis: Miller (6-foot-4, 321 pounds) makes contributions that don't show up in the box score, so while he didn't post big numbers at Georgia he did make meaningful contributions to their otherwise strong interior trench rotation. Miller has the ability to hold up as a nose tackle/two-gap tackle, so if the Saints put forth an improved run defense there's a good chance Miller will have something to do with it.

The Saints selected Tyson in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, eighth overall.
Analysis: Tyson (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) had the best collegiate production profile between himself and fellow top wideout prospects Carnell Tate and Makai Lemon, but Tyson's injury history understandably caused some anxiety and until Thursday it was unclear whether NFL teams would red-flag Tyson over those injury concerns. That Tyson was picked this early seems to answer the question - the Saints looked into his knee and hamstring injuries and evidently decided to bet on his talent. Tyson suffered a torn ACL, MCL and PCL his true freshman season at Colorado, and hamstring troubles from his 2025 season followed Tyson into the offseason, leaving him unable to participate in pre-draft athletic testing. If one disregards the injuries as the NFL seemingly has, then there are otherwise only reasons to like Tyson. His production was compelling both at Arizona State and Colorado, and while Tyson won't ever be a great big-play threat he shows the ability to dice up the underneath to a high-volume extent, giving him clear 100-catch upside at the NFL level during his best years. Even as a rookie, Tyson should push for a heavy workload right away, likely running as the primary Saints wideout opposite Chris Olave.
Contract option picked up
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 12:49 PM
The Saints have picked up Bresee's fifth-year contract option, Matthew Paras of The Times-Picayune reports.
Analysis: As a result of the move, Bresee, who was the Saints' 2023 first-round pick, will be under contract with the team for the 2027 season under a deal estimated to be "north of $13 million," per Paras. The 24-year-old logged 37 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 15 regular-season games in 2025 while seeing action on a career-high 69 percent of New Orleans' defensive snaps. Considering that he recorded 7.5 sacks in 2024, Bresee -- who is presumably past the knee issue he dealt with late last season -- is a bounce-back candidate this year in his starting role along the Saints' defensive line.
Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson Signing with Saints
Tue, Mar 24, 2026, 9:10 PM
The Saints are in line to sign Wilson, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Analysis: Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Wilson -- who spent last season with the Dolphins -- will join the Saints on a one-year deal. The No. 2 overall pick (by the Jets) in the 2021 NFL Draft joins a QB room in New Orleans that also includes Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler. Wilson last started a regular season game in 2023, but prior to that, the 26-year-old drew 33 starts during his first three years with New York. Katherine Terrell of ESPN previously noted that the Saints were preparing to move ahead with Shough as their starting quarterback in 2026, but at a minimum, Wilson gives the team another signal-caller option with NFL starting experience to turn to, if needed.
Staying in New Orleans
Tue, Mar 24, 2026, 1:00 PM
Burgess and the Saints agreed to terms on a contract Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old from Utah is set to remain in New Orleans after spending 2025 with the team. Across 16 games and 319 total snaps (206 on special teams, 113 on defense) last season, Burgess tallied 22 tackles and three passes defensed. He's expected to remain a key special-teams contributor during the 2026 season.
Re-signs with New Orleans
Thu, Mar 19, 2026, 4:50 PM
The Saints re-signed Rumph on Thursday.
Analysis: Rumph appeared in all 17 regular-season games for New Orleans last season and recorded 47 tackles (24 solo), including 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one pass breakup as a part-time defensive player and special-teams stalwart. He should fill a similar role in 2026.
