Hunter Renfrow
Hunter Renfrow Cleared to suit up Week 2
Fri, Sep 12, 2025, 2:58 PM
Renfrow (ribs) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Renfrow upgraded to full participation in Friday's practice after opening the week with a pair of limited sessions. The veteran slot receiver was understandably sore after his first regular-season NFL action since the 2023 campaign in Carolina's Week 1 loss to the Jaguars. Renfrow had two catches for 11 yards on six targets in the season opener.

Hunter Renfrow Another limited practice Thursday
Thu, Sep 11, 2025, 3:54 PM
Renfrow (ribs) remained limited in practice Thursday.
Analysis: Renfrow has started Week 2 prep with consecutive limited practices. A full showing Friday would likely help the veteran slot receiver avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game in Arizona. Renfrow turned six targets into only 11 yards in his Panthers debut against the Jaguars in Week 1, as Carolina quarterback Bryce Young struggled.

Hunter Renfrow Dealing with rib injury
Wed, Sep 10, 2025, 4:15 PM
Renfrow (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Renfrow finished Week 1 second on the Panthers in route share (81 percent) and third in targets (six), but with just 11 yards to show for it. He took 74 percent of his snaps in the slot, which is where he'll likely be again this Sunday at Arizona, squaring off with Cardinals slot corner Garrett Williams.
Tommy Tremble
Tommy Tremble Likely backing up Sanders
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 12:24 PM
Tremble caught his only target for two yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: Tremble was dealing with a back injury prior to the Panthers' Week 1 loss and played just 29 offensive snaps -- 10 fewer than second-year tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders. Sanders also outpaced him in targets (three to one) and receptions (two to one), making it seem as if Tremble will serve as Carolina's No. 2 tight end this season. Game script likely played a role in Sanders increased playing time, as Carolina's large deficit in the fourth quarter favored Sanders' pass-catching skillset. Unless Carolina's defense improves in a Week 2 matchup against the Cardinals, Tremble figures to serve as the top backup.
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne One touch in NFL debut
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 12:15 PM
Etienne rushed one time for four yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The 2025 fourth-round pick from Georgia appears firmly behind both Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle in Carolina's backfield, as Etienne played just two offensive snaps Sunday. However, the 21-year-old served as the Panthers' top kick and punt returner, logging 43 kick-return yards. Etienne is expected to remain a depth option in Carolina's backfield ahead of a Week 2 matchup with the Cardinals.
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders Logs 27 yards in Week 1
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 9:43 AM
Sanders caught two of his three targets for 27 yards during Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The second-year pro from Texas appears to be the Panthers' top tight end following the Week 1 loss, playing 39 offensive snaps -- 10 more than backup Tommy Tremble. Sanders drew just three targets Sunday but showcased his ability to make plays as a vertical threat, catching an 18-yard pass from Bryce Young. If Carolina's defense continues to struggle and forces Young into pass-heavy game scripts, Sanders could develop into a viable streaming option as the season progresses. He will look to build on his performance in Week 2 when the Panthers travel to Arizona.
Hunter Renfrow
Hunter Renfrow Nabs two passes in Panthers debut
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 9:34 AM
Renforw caught two of his six targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The veteran wideout logged 42 offensive snaps during Sunday's loss, ranking third amongst Carolina receivers behind Tetairoa McMillan (53) and Xavier Legette (50). Although Bryce Young was forced to throw 35 times due to Carolina's 20-point fourth-quarter deficit, Renfrow still finished third on the team in targets, which could be a promising sign for his role in this offense. He's expected to continue serving as the Panthers' No. 3 wide receiver as the team travels to Arizona in Week 2.
Rico Dowdle
Rico Dowdle Five touches in Week 1
Mon, Sep 8, 2025, 9:19 AM
Dowdle rushed three times for 12 yards and caught two of three targets for four yards during Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The first-year Panther underwhelmed in his regular-season debut, playing just 22 of the team's 64 offensive snaps. Dowdle, who rushed for 1,079 yards with the Cowboys last season, appears firmly behind Chuba Hubbard in Carolina's backfield. Hubbard's 43 offensive snaps lead to 19 touches for 89 total yards and one touchdown. However, the game script favored the pass, which likely limited Dowdle's opportunities, as the Panthers trailed by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss. Dowdle is expected to serve as the Panthers' top backup running back again in Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette Does little with Week 1 volume
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 6:44 PM
Legette caught three of seven targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The second-year wideout saw a solid share of Bryce Young's attention, but rookie Tetairoa McMillan was the Panthers' clear top option in the passing game, and Legette's longest gain went for just nine yards. After an inconsistent rookie season of his own in 2024, Carolina is hoping Legette can take a step forward as a sophomore, but this wasn't an encouraging performance from the 32nd overall pick in last year's draft. He'll look to deliver a more efficient effort on the road in Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan Leading receiver in NFL debut
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 6:40 PM
McMillan caught five of nine targets for 68 yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The eighth overall pick in the 2025 Draft was the unquestioned top wideout for the Panthers right out of the gate, as he led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards in a mostly disappointing day for Bryce Young and the passing game. McMillan will need better performances from his quarterback to turn that kind of volume into consistent production, but it was still an encouraging start to his pro career. He'll look to make a bigger impact on the road Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Chuba Hubbard
Chuba Hubbard Nabs late TD in loss
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 6:37 PM
Hubbard carried the ball 16 times for 57 yards and caught three of five targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: The 26-year-old RB scored the Panthers' only TD late in the fourth quarter, catching the ball in the flat and sprinting down the sideline for a 27-yard score. Hubbard is coming off a career-best 2024 campaign in which he amassed 1,366 yards from scrimmage and 11 total touchdowns, and the offseason addition of Rico Dowdle to the backfield doesn't appear to have impacted his role or touch volume. Hubbard will look to stay productive on the road Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Bryce Young
Bryce Young Three turnovers in Week 1 loss
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 6:32 PM
Young completed 18 of 35 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Jaguars. He added 40 rushing yards on five carries and also lost a fumble.
Analysis: The third-year QB had another rough start to an NFL campaign, and Young's only TD pass came late in the fourth quarter when the game already was out of hand. He did show flashes of chemistry with new top wideout Tetairoa McMillan (5-68-0 on nine targets), the eighth overall pick in the 2025 Draft, but otherwise there weren't many positives to take away from this performance. Young will try to clean things up on the road Week 2 against the Cardinals.
Jimmy Horn
Jimmy Horn Won't make NFL debut in Duval
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 10:56 AM
Horn (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: The rookie sixth-rounder earned a spot on the Panthers' 53-man roster in a depth role at wide receiver and special teams, but he'll have to wait at least one more week to make his NFL regular-season debut. David Moore and Brycen Tremayne will serve in depth roles at wide receiver Sunday while Trevor Etienne handles return duties.
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders Listed as No. 1 tight end
Thu, Sep 4, 2025, 12:49 PM
Sanders is listed as the Panthers' top tight end on the first unofficial depth chart of the 2025 regular season, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Sanders is listed above Tommy Tremble, who missed most of training camp and the preseason while recovering from offseason back surgery. While Sanders was always expected to handle the majority of pass-catching reps at tight end entering Year 2, while Tremble would see more blocking work, this development bodes well for the second-year pro's odds of leading the team in snaps at the position. With Jalen Coker (quadriceps) on IR to begin the season and Adam Thielen having been traded to Minnesota, Sanders' outlook in terms of volume has improved heading into Sunday's regular-season opener against the Jaguars.
Hunter Renfrow
Hunter Renfrow Listed as starter on depth chart
Thu, Sep 4, 2025, 12:47 PM
Renfrow is listed as a starter on Carolina's first unofficial depth chart of the regular season.
Analysis: Renfrow re-signed with the Panthers on Saturday after being released on cutdown day. He spent training camp with Carolina and is set to operate in the slot while Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette work on the outside. Renfrow's ascent up the depth chart was spurred on by the Panthers trading fellow veteran slot receiver Adam Thielen to Minnesota and Jalen Coker (quadriceps) going on IR.
Andy Dalton
Andy Dalton Should be available at Jacksonville
Wed, Sep 3, 2025, 6:09 PM
Dalton (elbow) was not listed on the Panthers' injury report Wednesday.
Analysis: Dalton was dealing with an elbow sprain late in training camp, but it looks like he'll be back to full strength for the start of the regular season. He's listed as the next man up in the event that starter Bryce Young has to come out for any reason.
Tommy Tremble
Tommy Tremble Cleared for Week 1
Wed, Sep 3, 2025, 4:18 PM
Tremble (back) isn't listed on the injury report for Sunday's season opener at Jacksonville.
Analysis: The Panther activated Tremble from the PUP list on Aug. 21, giving him two and a half weeks to ramp up for Week 1. He's ready, and may even be a nominal starter, but Ja'Tavion Sanders figures to run more routes and get more playing time in passing situations.
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan Sidesteps practice report
Wed, Sep 3, 2025, 2:52 PM
McMillan (hamstring) wasn't listed on the Panthers' first Week 1 injury report Wednesday.
Analysis: McMillan first missed practice due to a hamstring injury on Aug. 18 but was back on the field on Aug. 26. Now more than a week later, he doesn't have any limitations at all, paving the way for him to make his pro debut Sunday in Jacksonville. With veteran WR Adam Thielen getting traded to the Vikings last week, McMillan is the unquestioned No. 1 option in Carolina's passing game for QB Bryce Young.
Jalen Coker
Jalen Coker Expected to miss 4-to-6 games
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 2:31 PM
Coker (quadriceps), who was placed on IR on Saturday, is expected to be sidelined four to six games in his recovery, David Newton of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Coker has a "serious quad strain," per Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer. While the second-year wideout's placement on IR allows him to retake the field after a minimum of only four games, it sounds like his return could be postponed until as late as Week 7 against the Jets on Oct. 19. With Carolina also having traded Adam Thielen to Minnesota, the team inked veteran wideout Hunter Renfrow to the active roster Saturday to help provide depth behind Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) and Xavier Legette.
Hunter Renfrow
Hunter Renfrow Will suit up Sunday
Mon, Sep 1, 2025, 11:24 AM
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Monday that Renfrow will play Sunday versus the Jaguars, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Renfrow failed to secure a spot on Carolina's initial 53-man roster but was re-signed by the team Saturday, in the wake of Jalen Coker (quadriceps) being placed on IR and ruled out at least the first four games of the season. The Panthers also traded Adam Thielen to Minnesota on Thursday, meaning after spending the offseason with the team, Renfrow is now competing with just David Moore and Jimmy Horn for opportunities behind Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) and Xavier Legette in Week 1.
