Report: Morey out as 76ers lead executive
Tue, May 12, 2026, 1:55 PM
Shams Charania
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that the 76ers have fired president of basketball operations Daryl Morey.
Analysis: Morey is out after six seasons in Philadelphia, two days after the 76ers were swept out of the playoffs by the New York Knicks. While the 76ers reached the postseason in five of the six seasons that Morey was calling the shots, they never advanced past the conference semifinals. This season's run was doomed by a lack of depth, especially in the aftermath of Jared McCain being traded to the Thunder at the February deadline. According to Charania, head coach Nick Nurse will return for the 2026-27 season.
Kelly Oubre
Oubre Jr. scores 10 points in Game 4 defeat
Sun, May 10, 2026, 12:20 PM
Kelly Oubre Jr. accounted for 10 points (4-of-6 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs) and four rebounds in Sunday's Game 4 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: After totaling 41 points in Games 2 and 3, Oubre was limited to 10 points in Sunday's series finale. While this performance was disappointing, the forward's overall showing this season should boost his value in free agency this summer. A return to Philadelphia would limit Oubre's fantasy ceiling in 2026-27, but he should be a reliable late-round option, sitting just outside the top-100 in category league formats.
Paul George
George scores seven points in blowout defeat
Sun, May 10, 2026, 12:20 PM
Paul George amassed seven points (3-of-7 FGs), one rebound, two assists and one three-pointer in Sunday's Game 4 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: In Games 2 and 3, George's production faltered after hot starts. Unfortunately for him and the 76ers, he could never get going in Game 4, and the Knicks would win by a 144-114 final score, which does not accurately reflect how things went off the rails. After appearing in 41 games in his first season with the 76ers, George appeared in 37 this year, limiting his fantasy value. Like Joel Embiid, the recent availability issues are something that fantasy managers will have to take into consideration when draft season rolls around.
Tyrese Maxey
Maxey limited to 17 points in Game 4 defeat
Sun, May 10, 2026, 12:19 PM
Tyrese Maxey recorded 17 points (6-of-16 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), two rebounds, four assists and one three-pointer in Sunday's Game 4 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: A standout performer for most of this season, Maxey appeared to be a shell of himself in the second round. He had just one 20-point game in the four-game sweep, with the combination of the Knicks' defense, specifically Mikal Bridges, and an injured right pinky finger being too much to overcome. Maxey will take some heat for his play in this series, and rightfully so. But there should be no concern from fantasy managers regarding the point guard's outlook for 2026-27. Maxey provided first-round per-game value this season, and his emergence makes him a player who should come off the board in the first round of drafts next fall.
Joel Embiid
Embiid scores 24 points in series finale
Sun, May 10, 2026, 12:19 PM
Joel Embiid finished Sunday's Game 4 loss to the Knicks with 24 points (8-of-8 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), five rebounds, four assists and two three-pointers.
Analysis: Despite clearly being compromised physically, Embiid deserves credit for the effort he put forth in Sunday's series finale. The 76ers' center didn't miss a shot from the field and led his team in scoring. Unfortunately for Embiid and the 76ers, the Knicks were able to attack him on the other end of the floor when they weren't knocking down one of their 25 three-pointers. During the regular season, Embiid provided second-round per-game fantasy value, but he was limited to 38 games due to injuries. Availability concerns decreased his ADP by a few rounds in drafts last fall, and that's likely to remain the case ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (hip) available for Game 4 Sunday
Sun, May 10, 2026, 9:02 AM
Joel Embiid (hip) is available for Sunday's Game 4 against the Knicks.
Analysis: Embiid was initially listed as probable and with the 76ers down 3-0 in the series, it's no surprise he's available for Game 4 on Sunday. The 32-year-old center missed Game 2 with ankle and hip injuries, but had 18 points in 35 minutes in Friday's Game 3 loss.

Joel Embiid (hip) probable for Game 4 Sunday

NBA Injury Report
Joel Embiid (hip) is probable for Sunday's Game 4 against the Knicks.
Analysis: With the 76ers' season on the line, it's unsurprising that Embiid is on track to play on Sunday afternoon. After missing Game 3 with ankle and hip injuries, the 76ers' center logged 35 minutes in Game 3. Embiid should take on a similar workload in Game 4.
Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey posts 17 points, seven assists
Fri, May 8, 2026, 3:57 PM
Tyrese Maxey finished Friday's Game 3 loss to the Knicks with 17 points (8-of-12 FGs), two rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one three-pointer.
Analysis: While Maxey shot the ball well on Friday, he was far too deferential on offense in a game the 76ers needed to win. There were too many moments in which the point guard continued to swing the ball instead of attacking the closeout and getting downhill. While that may have been the “right play,” the 76ers need a more aggressive Maxey on offense to have any chance, especially when considering the team's lack of depth. To force a Game 5, Philadelphia needs Maxey to be in “takeover mode” from the start of Sunday's Game 4.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid plays 35 minutes in Game 3 defeat
Fri, May 8, 2026, 3:56 PM
Joel Embiid accounted for 18 points (7-of-17 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), six rebounds, five assists and three blocks in Friday's Game 3 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: Despite dealing with ankle and hip injuries that sidelined him for Game 2, Embiid logged 35 minutes in Game 3. While the stat line was decent, the 7-footer is clearly playing at less than full strength. The Knicks continue to target Embiid in pick-and-roll situations, and with consistent success. And the quick turnaround won't help either, as Game 4 is scheduled to tip off a little after 3:30 PM Eastern. Embiid and the 76ers need a win to avoid elimination.
Paul George
Paul George scores 15 first-quarter points
Fri, May 8, 2026, 3:56 PM
Paul George recorded 15 points (6-of-18 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and three three-pointers in Friday's Game 3 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: For the second consecutive game, George got off to a hot start for the 76ers. Unfortunately, he provided nothing after scoring 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the first frame. George would shoot 0-of-9 from the field the rest of the way, finishing with 15 points. Given Philadelphia's lack of depth, they can ill afford to have PG go quiet after a hot start. However, the lack of depth is also why he and the other starters are being pushed farther than they should be minutes-wise. George and the 76ers will look to stave off elimination on Sunday afternoon.
Kelly Oubre
Kelly Oubre Jr. scores team-high 22 points
Fri, May 8, 2026, 3:55 PM
Kelly Oubre Jr. amassed 22 points (7-of-16 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), eight rebounds, one assist and two three-pointers in Friday's Game 3 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: Oubre's offensive output has increased in each game of the 76ers' second-round series, with the veteran wing doing his best to supplement Philadelphia's stars. However, the team's lack of depth has proven costly, with Oubre and the other starters seemingly running out of gas late in games. After producing a 12-point fourth quarter in Game 2, the 76ers scored 18 in the final quarter of Game 3. Oubre's performances won't do much for his fantasy value in 2026-27, but he has been one of the few bright spots for the 76ers in this series. Philadelphia will look to avoid the series sweep on Sunday afternoon.
Joel Embiid
Embiid (ankle, hip) available for Game 3 Friday
Fri, May 8, 2026, 12:33 PM
Kyle Neubeck
Joel Embiid (ankle, hip) is available for Friday's Game 3 against the Knicks.
Analysis: Right ankle and right hip injuries sidelined Embiid for Game 2, a defeat that dropped the 76ers into a 0-2 hole. He'll take on his usual role as the starting center, but the rotation behind the former MVP is likely to be adjusted. Dominick Barlow, who played well in Game 2, may take on some backup center minutes because his defense is superior to Andre Drummond's when switched onto a Knicks guard, most notably Jalen Brunson. Joining Embiid in the starting lineup are Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Paul George and Kelly Oubre Jr.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (ankle, hip) questionable for Game 3
Thu, May 7, 2026, 11:04 AM
NBA Injury Report
Joel Embiid (ankle, hip) is questionable for Friday's Game 3 against the Knicks.
Analysis: Ankle and hip injuries kept Embiid out of Wednesday's Game 2 defeat. While Andre Drummond started, the 76ers were more effective with either Adem Bona or Dominick Barlow at the five, specifically to deal with the two-man game between New York's Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. If Embiid remains out, expect to see more of Bona and Barlow.
Paul George
Paul George has 19/6/4 line as 76ers lose Game 2
Wed, May 6, 2026, 4:20 PM
Paul George had 19 points (7-of-18 FGs, 0-of-1 FTs), six rebounds, four assists, two steals, two blocks and five three-pointers in Wednesday's loss to the Knicks in Game 2.
Analysis: George had 23 points in a pivotal Game 6 win against the Celtics in the first round, but has failed to reach 20 points again in three games since then. In Game 2 on Wednesday, the 36-year-old small forward made five three-pointers, but only made two other field goals and finished with 19 points. He's likely to have a big role for the rest of the series, especially if Joel Embiid (hip, ankle) remains out. The series shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Friday.
Tyrese Maxey
Maxey has 26 points in Game 2 loss Wednesday
Wed, May 6, 2026, 4:14 PM
Tyrese Maxey had 26 points (9-of-23 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs), three rebounds, six assists, one steal and one three-pointer in Wednesday's loss to the Knicks in Game 2.
Analysis: Maxey bounced back after a difficult Game 1 that saw him score just 13 points in a blowout loss. The 25-year-old point guard had 26 points in Game 2, but wasn't particularly efficient with 23 attempts from the field. It was enough to keep the 76ers in the game, but the Philadelphia offense couldn't score down the stretch. The 76ers will have to win Game 3 on Friday to avoid falling behind 3-0 in the series.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (ankle, hip) out for Game 2
Wed, May 6, 2026, 9:38 AM
NBA Injury Report
Joel Embiid (ankle, hip) has been downgraded to out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Knicks.
Analysis: Embiid was given a probable tag on Tuesday with an ankle sprain, but he's also dealing with right hip soreness, and the two injuries will keep him out for at least one contest. The 76ers got blown out by the Knicks in Game 1 with Embiid on the court, and the team will have an even more daunting task on Wednesday with the star big man on the sideline. Andre Drummond and Adem Bona will fill in at center, while Tyrese Maxey and Paul George will have to shoulder the load as scorers.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (ankle) probable for Game 2 Wednesday
Tue, May 5, 2026, 10:58 AM
NBA Injury Report
Joel Embiid (ankle) is probable for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Knicks.
Analysis: Embiid is back on the 76ers' injury report, although the reason ahead of Game 2 is due to a sprained right ankle. He only logged 25 minutes in Game 1, as the 76ers trailed by 31 points at the end of the third quarter. Embiid is listed as probable, so he should be on the court Wednesday night. If not, Andre Drummond and Adem Bona will figure more prominently in the rotation.
Paul George
Paul George hits four triples, scores 17 points
Mon, May 4, 2026, 4:53 PM
Paul George tallied 17 points (6-of-11 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), three rebounds, three assists and four three-pointers in Monday's Game 1 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: George and Kelly Oubre Jr. (12/5/1/1/1 with one three-pointer) were the only 76ers' starters to make more than 50 percent of their shot attempts in Game 1. Given how hard the 76ers had to work to get out of the first round, erasing a 3-1 deficit to eliminate the Celtics, it was no surprise that they looked fatigued in Game 1. Since Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid will be the focus of New York's defense, George's ability to have a big series could be a deciding factor in the 76ers' favor.
Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey scores 13 points in Game 1 defeat
Mon, May 4, 2026, 4:52 PM
Tyrese Maxey recorded 13 points (3-of-9 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), three rebounds and two assists in Monday's Game 1 loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: The Knicks were able to keep Maxey in check on Monday, but the quick turnaround from Philadelphia's Game 7 win over the Celtics was also a factor. The 76ers point guard missed all three of his three-point attempts and recorded twice as many turnovers (four) as assists (two). One can safely assume that Maxey will put forth a better performance in Game 2 on Wednesday night.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid limited to 14 points in Game 1 defeat
Mon, May 4, 2026, 4:52 PM
Joel Embiid finished Monday's Game 1 loss to the Knicks with 14 points (3-of-11 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), four rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: Having just finished their seven-game series with the Celtics on Saturday, Embiid and the 76ers did not have the “juice” on Monday. While it's never good to get blown out, the 7-footer played just 25 minutes in Game 1, getting some valuable rest ahead of Wednesday's Game 2. Embiid did take a shot to the midsection during the second quarter, which is a concern given the fact that he underwent an appendectomy late in the regular season. However, he remained in the game, so this may not be a major concern heading into Game 2.
