Reggie Jackson
Woj: Reggie Jackson plans to join Philadelphia
Tue, Jul 23, 2024, 4:46 AM
Adrian Wojnarowski on X
Reggie Jackson plans to join the 76ers after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Hornets.
Analysis: Philly certainly has plenty of depth at point guard now. Tyrese Maxey is the starter, with Jackson, Kyle Lowry and rookie Jared McCain as the other options. It's unclear what the rotation will look like, but there isn't enough point guard minutes to go around, which means that these lead guards will have to spend time playing off-ball roles. Outside of Maxey, there won't be much consistent fantasy value in the backcourt in Philly.
Jeff Dowtin
Shams: 76ers sign Jeff Dowtin to two-way contract
Sun, Jul 21, 2024, 2:12 PM
Shams Charania on Twitter
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 76ers have signed Jeff Dowtin to a two-way contract.
Analysis: Dowtin and 76ers coach Nick Nurse have been connected since their time in Toronto, and that will continue into the 2024-25 season. Dowtin played well for the 76ers in summer league and has earned the right to return after joining the team on a two-way in March. Philadelphia has Tyrese Maxey and Kyle Lowry at the point guard position, and first-round pick Jared McCain is also capable of filling that role. Dowtin's signing will not impact fantasy basketball.
Jeff Dowtin
Jeff Dowtin dishes out eight assists vs. Portland
Mon, Jul 15, 2024, 4:41 PM
Jeff Dowtin accumulated 17 points (5-of-11 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs), four rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes in Monday's loss to the Blazers.
Analysis: Dowtin has given the 76ers solid point guard play throughout the summer, likely improving his chances of sticking with the team in some capacity. He won't be a player to target in fantasy drafts, as the 76ers will have Tyrese Maxey and Kyle Lowry on the roster. However, injuries could put Dowtin in a position to offer streaming value occasionally.

Jared McCain hits three 3-pointers vs. Portland
Mon, Jul 15, 2024, 4:38 PM
Jared McCain shot 3-of-16 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line in Monday's 97-95 loss to Portland, amassing 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
Analysis: McCain hit three 3-pointers but had a rough night shooting the basketball. His three triples came on ten attempts, and he failed to make a shot from inside the arc (0-of-6). McCain played off the ball for most of Monday's game, which will likely be his role with the 76ers once the games are official. While he can certainly provide catch-and-shoot value, McCain needs to be better at attacking close-outs and finishing around the basket.
Adem Bona
Shams: 76ers sign Adem Bona to four-year contract
Sun, Jul 14, 2024, 3:09 PM
Shams Charania on Twitter
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 76ers have signed Adem Bona to a four-year contract worth $8 million.
Analysis: Selected with the 41st overall pick in last month's draft, Bona could be a steal for the 76ers. While a bit raw offensively, he's highly active on the boards and is one of the best defenders in this rookie class. With Joel Embiid's injury history, there will be times when Bona offers credible fantasy value.
Ricky Council
Ricky Council IV continues to shine, scores 24 PTS
Sat, Jul 13, 2024, 3:05 PM
Ricky Council IV finished Saturday's 94-81 win over Detroit with 24 points (7-of-17 FGs, 9-of-9 FTs), six rebounds, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes.
Analysis: Council did not shoot the ball as well as in the Salt Lake City Summer League, but his overall performance in Las Vegas on Saturday was good. He led the 76ers in scoring while also contributing as a rebounder and defender. Council is on a standard contract for the 2024-25 season, but the goal is to earn the opportunity to crack the rotation. As well as he's played this summer, 76ers coach Nick Nurse should give Council every chance to make that happen when training camp begins.
KJ Martin
KJ Martin returns to Sixers on 2-year, $8M deal
Fri, Jul 12, 2024, 11:41 AM
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that KJ Martin will return to the 76ers on a two-year, $8 million deal.
Analysis: Martin logged just 12.4 minutes per tilt across 60 appearances for the Clippers and Sixers last season, and he's not expected to make a major impact for Philly in 2024-25.
Kyle Lowry
Kyle Lowry agrees to one-year deal with 76ers
Thu, Jul 11, 2024, 12:45 PM
Kyle Lowry on Instagram
Kyle Lowry has agreed to return to the 76ers on a one-year deal.
Analysis: Having signed with the 76ers after being waived by the Hornets, Lowry will return to his hometown team for another season. He played in 23 regular-season games for Philadelphia last season, averaging 8.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.6 3-pointers in 28.4 minutes, making 20 starts. While Lowry's numbers slipped slightly in the 76ers' first-round loss to the Knicks, the veteran point guard had a positive impact. His fantasy value isn't what it was when Lowry was in his prime, and that's unlikely to change with Tyrese Maxey running the show and Paul George joining the roster.
Ricky Council
Ricky Council IV drops team-high 20 points in loss
Wed, Jul 10, 2024, 5:10 PM
Ricky Council IV played well on Wednesday and contributed 20 points (6-of-11 FGs), one assist, one steal and two triples in a 93-85 loss to Utah.
Analysis: It has been a strong summer for Council IV thus far. He struggled on Tuesday, but he had 29 points on Monday and followed that up with another big scoring night in this one. He had a few strong performances as a rookie last season, and if he continues to play well this summer, he may be able to crack Philly's rotation. He is certainly a player that is worth stashing in dynasty formats.

Jared McCain struggles in 17 minutes in loss
Wed, Jul 10, 2024, 5:01 PM
Jared McCain struggled against the Jazz on Wednesday and finished with just two points (1-of-9 FGs) and four rebounds.
Analysis: McCain has had a strong start to the summer, but he wasn't able to keep it going in his third game in as many days. He only played 17 minutes, and he wasn't able to contribute much. That can certainly be attributed to fatigue, and he will get a few days off before playing again. Managers shouldn't put much stock into this game, and his performance the rest of the summer will be worth keeping an eye on.

Jared McCain puts up 12/3/4 line in loss to MEM
Tue, Jul 9, 2024, 3:17 PM
Jared McCain logged 22 minutes on Tuesday and finished with 12 points (3-of-10 FGs), three rebounds, four assists, one steal and three 3-pointers against the Grizzlies.
Analysis: McCain shined in his first Summer League appearance on Monday, and on the second night of a back-to-back, he was able to turn in solid value in limited minutes. He shot 3-of-7 from beyond the arc after missing all six of his 3-point attempts on Monday, but he missed his three attempts from inside the arc in this one after shooting 6-of-9 on two-pointers against the Thunder. Philly will likely need him to play a role as a rookie on a contending team, and if he is able to consistently knock down triples, he should make an impact.

Justin Edwards posts 14/3/1/2/2 line in loss
Tue, Jul 9, 2024, 3:01 PM
Justin Edwards posted a full line on Tuesday with 14 points (5-of-7 FGs), three rebounds, one assist, two steals, two blocks and three triples in an 87-85 loss to Memphis.
Analysis: The former Kentucky Wildcat went undrafted despite being expected to be a top pick before last season. He ended up landing with the 76ers this summer, and he played well in this game after struggling in his first Summer League appearance. It wasn't enough to get the win, but it was encouraging to see him play well. He will likely spend most of this upcoming season in the G-League, but this could end up being an excellent pickup for Philly in the long run.
Adem Bona
Adem Bona tallies seven rebounds, three ‘stocks'
Mon, Jul 8, 2024, 2:56 PM
Adem Bona finished Monday's win over the Thunder with seven points (3-of-6 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocked shots in 24 minutes.
Analysis: Selected with the 41st overall pick in last month's draft, Bona could develop into a steal for the 76ers. The highly athletic big man was active on the boards and defensively, but he'll need to do a better job of defending without fouling. Bona did most of his damage around the basket, which is no surprise to those familiar with his game. He'll be most valuable in fantasy basketball next season on nights when the 76ers are forced to play without star center Joel Embiid. The rebounding and shot-blocking potential mean Bona won't need to be on the court too long to offer streaming value.

Jared McCain tallies 15 points in summer opener
Mon, Jul 8, 2024, 2:52 PM
Jared McCain amassed 15 points (6-of-15 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), six rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 27 minutes in Monday's 102-92 win over the Thunder.
Analysis: The 16th overall pick in last month's draft, McCain had a tough night from the perimeter in his 76ers summer debut. The former Duke guard missed all six 3-point attempts, but he was productive inside the arc. McCain shot over 41% from three on 5.8 attempts per game and 88.5% from the foul line during his lone college season, so there's no need to be too concerned about Monday's performance. With Philadelphia moving on from Tobias Harris and Buddy Hield, there will be room for McCain to provide shooting off the bench.
Ricky Council
Ricky Council IV scores 29 points in summer opener
Mon, Jul 8, 2024, 2:48 PM
Ricky Council IV finished Monday's 102-92 win over Oklahoma City with 29 points (9-of-18 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), eight rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot, and five 3-pointers in 28 minutes.
Analysis: Council is one of the most experienced players on the 76ers summer roster, and he looked the part on Monday night. He scored 19 of his game-high 29 in the fourth quarter alone, turning up the aggression on the offensive end of the floor. Council only appeared in 32 games as a rookie, with most of his minutes being played from mid-January onward. He's looking to earn a shot at credible minutes in his second season, and more performances like Monday's will put Council in a good spot ahead of training camp.
Paul Reed
Woj: 76ers waiving Paul Reed
Sat, Jul 6, 2024, 4:39 AM
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Philadelphia is waiving Reed ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Analysis: Reed was largely ineffective in the playoffs last season and Philadelphia has already brought in Andre Drummond to back up Joel Embiid. Reed will be in a position to be more productive next season playing behind a less dominant big man.
Caleb Martin
Woj: Caleb Martin signing with 76ers
Sat, Jul 6, 2024, 4:26 AM
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Martin is set to leave the Miami Heat and join Philadelphia next season.
Analysis: Martin has a chance to become an impactful player from the jump, as Philly parted with Nic Batum, Buddy Hield, and De'Anthony Melton following the 2023-24 season before bringing in Paul George. He averaged a career-high 10.0 points per game last season and can make a difference on both ends as a two-way wing.
Buddy Hield
Shams: Warriors in ‘serious talks' for Buddy Hield
Wed, Jul 3, 2024, 2:13 AM
Shams Charania on X
The Warriors are in “serious talks” to acquire Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Analysis: The full details of what this move would look like aren't clear, but it's clear that the Warriors are wasting no time replacing Klay Thompson. They've also added De'Anthony Melton this week, so the non-Stephen Curry guard minutes will be hard to come by, especially with Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody still in the mix currently. That will make things messy for fantasy managers looking to find value in Golden State, though it does provide them with plenty of depth.
Tyrese Maxey
Woj: Tyrese Maxey agrees to five-year extension
Mon, Jul 1, 2024, 3:00 AM
Adrian Wojnarowski on X
Tyrese Maxey has agreed in principle to a five-year, $204 million extension with the 76ers, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Analysis: After a breakout season, the 76ers have locked up their star point guard for the foreseeable future. This level of extension was previously rumored and shouldn't come as a surprise. They have locked up a trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Maxey for the next few seasons, and they'll be one of the teams that looks to dethrone the Celtics this season.
Kelly Oubre
Kelly Oubre Jr. returning to Philly on 2-year deal
Mon, Jul 1, 2024, 1:20 AM
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that Kelly Oubre Jr. will sign a two-year, $16.3 million deal to return to the 76ers.
Analysis: The deal includes a player option for the 2025-26 season. Oubre Jr. was effective in his first season with Philly, averaging 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.7 blocks and 1.5 triples across 30.2 minutes in 68 appearances. Those numbers, while great on the court, didn't translate to strong fantasy hoops value. Oubre Jr. ranked outside the top-125 in per-game value, and the arrival of Paul George dampens Oubre Jr.'s appeal. At best, he'll be a late-round flyer in 12-team leagues in 2024-25 drafts.
