Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (knee) struggles in return Tuesday
Tue, Nov 12, 2024, 4:29 PM
Ky Carlin
Joel Embiid (left knee injury recovery) logged 26 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Knicks, scoring 13 points (2-of-11 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), three rebounds, five assists, one block, and one 3-pointer.
Analysis: Embiid made his much-anticipated season debut on Tuesday, and to no one's surprise, he was rusty. The 76ers center did not move with much fluidity during his first stint on the court, but things got a little better as the night progressed. Unfortunately, he could return to the bench as the 76ers host Cleveland on Wednesday. Following Tuesday's loss, 76ers coach Nick Nurse said nothing about Embiid or Paul George had been decided. Embiid said , but don't be surprised if the 76ers medical staff holds him out.
Paul George
Paul George scores game-high 29 points vs. Knicks
Tue, Nov 12, 2024, 4:28 PM
Ky Carlin
Paul George accounted for 29 points (10-of-19 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, one block, and seven 3-pointers in 32 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Knicks.
Analysis: George and Caleb Martin were the only starters to establish any offensive rhythm in Tuesday's Emirates NBA Cup defeat. It's fair to wonder if incorporating Joel Embiid into the lineup had anything to do with that, as this was the big man's first game of the season. George is providing top 50 fantasy value, but the availability concerns remain. While 76ers coach Nick Nurse said after Tuesday's game that George's status for Wednesday's game against Cleveland has not been determined, fantasy managers should assume that he will not play.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (knee) to play 25-30 minutes Tuesday
Tue, Nov 12, 2024, 11:53 AM
Kyle Neubeck
Joel Embiid will play between 25 and 30 minutes in Tuesday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: After a lingering knee injury and three-game suspension, Embiid will make his season debut on Tuesday. As expected, his minutes will be limited, with the 2023 MVP dealing with a restriction of 25-30 minutes. Depending on the game's flow, Embiid may play either a few minutes less or a few more.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid off injury report vs. New York
Mon, Nov 11, 2024, 10:35 AM
NBA Injury Report
Joel Embiid is not listed on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's game against the Knicks.
Analysis: Embiid's three-game suspension is over, and now he's healthy enough to make his season debut. This will be a situation worth monitoring, since he has been managing a left knee injury. His return should push Andre Drummond back to the bench, but we'll see how many minutes Embiid plays before dropping his fill-in.
Andre Drummond
Drummond has double-double as Sixers lose by 10
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 6:53 PM
Andre Drummond had 14 points (6-of-12 FGs), 12 rebounds and three steals against the Lakers on Friday.
Analysis: Drummond is a great example of how a player can be more valuable in fantasy than in real-life. While Drummond had a double-double for his fantasy managers, he was -19 in 22 minutes in a 10-point loss. He'll continue to carry value as long as he's starting while Joel Embiid is out. Drummond has another chance to start Sunday against the Hornets before Embiid is set to return next week.
Paul George
Paul George has just nine points in loss to Lakers
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 6:50 PM
Paul George had nine points (4-of-13 FGs), four rebounds, eight assists and one steal against the Lakers on Friday.
Analysis: George struggled against the Lakers. He had only nine points on 13 shots and was 0-of-6 from behind the 3-point line. George only attempted two free throws, though he excelled in a playmaking role with eight assists and no turnovers. He was -4 in 25 minutes in the 10-point loss. The Sixers get a chance to bounce back against the Hornets on Sunday.
Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) to be evaluated in 1 week
Thu, Nov 7, 2024, 12:28 PM
Keith Pompey
Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a strained right hamstring and will be re-evaluated in one week.
Analysis: Maxey injured his hamstring during Wednesday's loss to the Clippers, leaving Philadelphia without two of its three stars. Kyle Lowry should be the choice to move into the starting lineup, but he offers limited fantasy value at this stage in his career. Also, Reggie Jackson will move into the rotation, with Jared McCain and Jeff Dowtin having the opportunity to earn more minutes.
Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) out two weeks
Thu, Nov 7, 2024, 6:53 AM
Shams Charania on Twitter
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that Tyrese Maxey will be sidelined at least two weeks due to a right hamstring injury.
Analysis: Maxey suffered the injury Wednesday, and he'll be out of action until at least November 21. Joel Embiid will serve the final two games of his suspension and miss Friday's matchup with the Lakers and Sunday's matchup with the Hornets at minimum. Assuming he's healthy, Embiid could make his season debut on November 12 against the Knicks, which would give Philly two of its Big 3. While Maxey is sidelined, expect Eric Gordon, Jared McCain and Kyle Lowry to pick up the slack in the backcourt.
Kelly Oubre
Oubre Jr. has 18/2/3 line as Sixers lose to Clips
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 7:06 PM
Kelly Oubre Jr. had 18 points (8-of-12 FGs), two rebounds, three assists, one steal and one 3-pointer against the Clippers on Wednesday.
Analysis: Oubre Jr. tied Paul George for the team-lead in points against the Clippers. He was efficient with 18 points on 12 shots, made his only free throw and knocked down just 1-of-3 attempts from behind the 3-point line. Oubre Jr. turned it over three times, though, and was -6 in 25 minutes in the 12-point loss. Philadelphia has two more games this week starting with the Lakers on Friday and the Hornets on Sunday.
Paul George
PG13 has 18/7/2 line while on minutes restriction
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 7:02 PM
Paul George had a full stat line with 18 points (7-of-9 FGs), seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block and two 3-pointers against the Clippers on Wednesday.
Analysis: George had a great game considering he played only 24 minutes as he was on a minutes restriction due to a left knee bone bruise. He had 18 points on nine shots, made both of his free throws and nailed 2-of-3 attempts from behind the 3-point line. He did have four turnovers, though, and finished the game -11 in the 12-point loss to his former team. George should be back at his full complement of minutes in the near future. Philadelphia has two more games this week starting with the Lakers on Friday and the Hornets on Sunday.
Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey (hamstring) will not return Wednesday
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 6:18 PM
Kyle Neubeck
Tyrese Maxey (right hamstring soreness) will not return to Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Maxey played 32 minutes before exiting Wednesday's game at the end of the third quarter. He appeared to tweak it while diving for a loose ball with about two minutes remaining in the period. With Joel Embiid suspended for two more games and recently cleared to return from a knee injury, the last thing Philadelphia can afford is to lose Maxey for an extended period. The 76ers visit the Lakers on Friday
Paul George
Paul George (knee) still on minutes restriction
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 2:46 PM
Law Murray
Paul George (left knee bone bruise) will play against the Clippers on Wednesday but will continue to be on a minutes restriction.
Analysis: George will make his return to Los Angeles, where he spent the last five seasons of his career. He played 31 minutes in his debut for the 76ers on Monday, so the restriction isn't super strict. However, he still won't play a full workload yet, which means a few extra minutes to go around for the reserves.
Joel Embiid
Shams: Embiid to make season debut Tuesday vs. NYK
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 1:30 PM
Shams Charania
Joel Embiid will make his season debut next Tuesday against the Knicks, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Analysis: Embiid's three-game suspension for shoving a reporter begins Wednesday, but he's been medically cleared, according to Shams. The superstar center is on track to make his season debut next Tuesday against the Knicks.
Paul George
Paul George (knee) probable Wednesday vs. Clippers
Tue, Nov 5, 2024, 2:55 PM
NBA Injury Report
Paul George (left knee bone bruise) is probable for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Based on the preliminary injury report, there's a chance George won't play against his former employer on Wednesday. If so, Kyle Lowry would return to the starting lineup. Lowry isn't an elite fantasy option, but he would be worth rostering in deep leagues if George sits.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid suspended 3 games for shoving reporter
Tue, Nov 5, 2024, 10:38 AM
Mike Vorkunov
The NBA has suspended Joel Embiid for three games for shoving a reported following Saturday's loss to the Grizzlies.
Analysis: Embiid got into a verbal altercation with a columnist who'd written a critical column on the former MVP, making mention of his deceased brother and young son. That led to Embiid shoving the writer before the two were separated. Embiid's suspension won't begin until he's medically cleared to return from the knee injury that has kept him from appearing in any games this season.
Tyrese Maxey
Tyrese Maxey leads 76ers with 32 points vs. Suns
Mon, Nov 4, 2024, 6:43 PM
Tyrese Maxey shot 12-of-23 from the field and 2-of-3 from the foul line in Monday's loss to Phoenix, scoring 32 points with three rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, and six 3-pointers in 41 minutes.
Analysis: Maxey didn't have to go it alone as the 76ers' primary scoring option on Monday, as Paul George made his official debut. Having another marquee scorer on the floor certainly helped, as Maxey produced his most efficient outing of the season. While he's scored 23 points or more in all six games, the 76ers guard has shot 48% or better from the field in two. Maxey being close to a top-25 player despite shooting below 41% from the field bodes well for his rest of season value, especially once Joel Embiid returns.
Paul George
Paul George plays 31 minutes in season debut
Mon, Nov 4, 2024, 6:41 PM
Paul George played 31 minutes in Monday's loss to Phoenix, tallying 15 points (4-of-13 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), five rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one 3-pointer.
Analysis: George made his long-awaited 76ers debut on Monday, with the minutes restriction being more about his stints on the court than the minutes total. The 31 minutes were encouraging, even if the rust was evident, based on his shooting and turnover count (seven). George had a chance to send the game into overtime, but his jumper in the final second went long. Next is a return to southern California, with the 76ers visiting the Clippers on Wednesday.
Paul George
Paul George (knee) to play on minutes restriction
Mon, Nov 4, 2024, 2:58 PM
Keith Pompey
Paul George (left knee hyperextension) will play against the Suns on a minutes restriction.
Analysis: George will make his regular season debut for the 76ers in this game, but he won't see a full workload. Nick Nurse didn't share a number, but PG will have his minutes limited, which shouldn't come as a surprise. Kyle Lowry will be pushed to playing a reserve role with George back.
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid (knee) to remain sidelined Monday
Sun, Nov 3, 2024, 1:17 PM
Keith Pompey
Joel Embiid (left knee injury management) will not play in Monday's game against the Suns.
Analysis: Embiid still isn't ready to make his season debut, but the 76ers star is getting close. He's done some 5-on-5 scrimmaging recently, so “The Process” could be on the floor during the team's road trip that begins in Phoenix. Andre Drummond will remain the starter until Embiid is deemed healthy enough to play.
Paul George
Shams: Paul George expected to play Monday vs. PHO
Sun, Nov 3, 2024, 1:12 PM
Shams Charania
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Paul George (left knee hyperextension) is expected to play in Monday's game against the Suns.
Analysis: George is reported on track to make his anticipated 76ers debut on Monday. Playing against the Suns would give him a game to shake off some of the rust ahead of Wednesday's game against the Clippers in Inglewood. Given the lack of game time, fantasy managers should expect George's minutes to be restricted. Caleb Martin and Kelly Oubre Jr. stand to take the most significant hits to their fantasy values.
