Johnny Davis
Johnny Davis (not with team) out Tuesday vs. Suns
Mon, Feb 10, 2025, 1:53 PM
NBA Injury Report
Johnny Davis (not with team) is out for Tuesday's game against the Suns.
Analysis: Davis has not made his Grizzlies debut after being traded to Memphis at the deadline, and it's unknown when that will change. He wasn't in the Wizards' rotation, and the 10th overall pick in the 2022 draft faces even more competition for minutes in Memphis.
Jaren Jackson
Jaren Jackson Jr. has 19/3/2/3/3 line in loss
Sat, Feb 8, 2025, 4:44 PM
Jaren Jackson Jr. had 19 points (7-of-14 FGs), three rebounds, two assists, three steals, three blocks and two 3-pointers against the Thunder on Saturday.
Analysis: Jackson Jr. failed to scored at least 20 points after scoring at least 30 points in his last three games and at least 20 points in his last nine games. Still, the 25-year-old power forward from Michigan State was a force on the defensive end. Jackson Jr. had three steals and three blocks. He's had at least three steals and blocks combined four times in his last nine games. Jackson Jr. is having another great season thanks to his scoring prowess, 3-point shooting and shot-blocking.
Desmond Bane
Desmond Bane has 20/9/5 line in loss to Thunder
Sat, Feb 8, 2025, 4:42 PM
Desmond Bane had 20 points (7-of-15 FGs), nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and three 3-pointers against the Thunder on Saturday.
Analysis: Bane returned after missing two games with a left foot sprain. The 26-year-old shooting guard didn't appear rusty at all as he had a 20-point game with nine rebounds and five assists. Bane even connected on three 3-pointers. He was playing the best he has all season before the injury and there was no apparent drop-off in his return.
Desmond Bane
Desmond Bane (foot) available vs. Oklahoma City
Sat, Feb 8, 2025, 1:05 PM
Grizzlies PR
Desmond Bane (foot) has been upgraded to available to play against the Thunder on Saturday.
Analysis: On Monday, head coach Taylor Jenkins said that Bane would “miss a little time”. Apparently, that diagnosis was quite literal. Bane will be back after missing just two games with a left foot sprain, and his return should push Luke Kennard back to the bench.
Marvin Bagley
Marvin Bagley (knee) likely out through A-S break
Sat, Feb 8, 2025, 12:33 PM
Jonah Dylan
Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Saturday that he doesn't expect Marvin Bagley (knee) to play before the All-Star break.
Analysis: Bagley suffered a right knee sprain just before Christmas and has not appeared in a game since. As he continues to recover from that injury, the former Wizard is not expected to make his Grizzlies debut until after the All-Star break. Bagley's availability doesn't impact fantasy basketball, especially since it's unknown how he'll fit into the rotation in Memphis.
Johnny Davis
Johnny Davis (not with team) out Saturday vs. OKC
Sat, Feb 8, 2025, 2:22 AM
NBA Injury Report
Johnny Davis (not with team) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Thunder.
Analysis: Acquired from the Wizards on Thursday as part of a multi-team trade, Davis has yet to join the Grizzlies. Given the lack of production in Washington and the Grizzlies' wing depth, his absence will not impact fantasy basketball.
Marvin Bagley
Marvin Bagley not on injury report vs. Thunder
Fri, Feb 7, 2025, 6:58 PM
NBA Injury Report
Marvin Bagley is not on the injury report against Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Analysis: Bagley will be available to make his debut for Memphis after he was traded as part of the deal that sent Marcus Smart to the Wizards. Bagley barely saw the floor for Washington this season, and it is unlikely that changes with the Grizzlies.
Desmond Bane
Desmond Bane (foot) questionable Saturday
Fri, Feb 7, 2025, 12:27 PM
Grizzlies PR on Twitter
Desmond Bane (foot) is questionable for Saturday's matchup with the Thunder.
Analysis: Coach Taylor Jenkins said on February 3 that Bane would miss “a little time,” and it looks like Bane has a chance to return after less than a week. If he's able to play, expect him to handle a full workload.
Marvin Bagley
Shams: Wizards trading Marvin Bagley III to MEM
Thu, Feb 6, 2025, 9:27 AM
Shams Charania
According to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania, the Wizards are trading Marvin Bagley III and Johnny Davis to the Grizzlies as part of a three-team deal centered around Marcus Smart.
Analysis: Bagley has flown under the radar this season because of his limited contributions as a Wizards reserve. It doesn't appear like he's in for a larger role given that Santi Aldama and Brandon Clarke are solid frontcourt backups for Memphis right now.
Johnny Davis
Johnny Davis dealt to Grizzlies in multi-team deal
Thu, Feb 6, 2025, 9:27 AM
Shams Charania
Johnny Davis has been traded to Memphis as part of a multi-team trade centered around Marcus Smart.
Analysis: Davis hasn't been able to figure things out in the NBA since Washington drafted him with the No. 10 pick in 2022. Now, he finds himself as a throw-in as part of a larger deal. Davis hasn't been a fantasy relevant player to this point of his career, and that is unlikely to change with the Grizzlies.
Colby Jones
Colby Jones traded to Memphis in Marcus Smart deal
Thu, Feb 6, 2025, 9:17 AM
Marc Stein
Colby Jones has been traded by the Kings to the Grizzlies as part of the Marcus Smart deal.
Analysis: Since being drafted early in the second round in 2023, Jones hasn't seen the floor much for the Kings. He'll get a fresh start in Memphis, but the situation there likely won't be better for him. Jones will be a young depth piece, but it is unlikely that he carves out a consistent role for his new team.
Alex Len
Report: Kings trade Alex Len to Memphis
Thu, Feb 6, 2025, 9:13 AM
Bobby Marks
The Kings have traded Alex Len, Colby Jones, and a 2028 second-round pick to the Grizzlies as part of a multi-team deal that includes the Wizards, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Analysis: Len played limited minutes in Sacramento as Domantas Sabonis' backup, and he was due to fall in the pecking order after Jonas Valanciunas was acquired from Washington. In Memphis, Len faces a similar climb to playing time, so he's unlikely to impact fantasy basketball. There's no need to consider adding Len in Memphis, and his exit changes little in Sacramento, considering the lack of fantasy value behind Sabonis.
Marcus Smart
Marcus Smart goes 0-of-6 in return from injury
Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 4:46 PM
Marcus Smart had zero points (0-of-6 FGs), one rebound and two assists against the Raptors on Wednesday.
Analysis: Smart played 18 minutes off the bench in his first game since December 21 with a right index finger injury. Predictably, the 30-year-old was rusty in his return to the court and he provided little in terms of fantasy production Wednesday. Smart will have to get back into the swing of things, but his fantasy value will be capped coming off the bench given the Grizzlies' deep rotation.
Ja Morant
Ja Morant has 26/5/4 line in win over Raptors
Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 4:45 PM
Ja Morant had 26 points (9-of-14 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, two steals and three 3-pointers against the Raptors on Wednesday.
Analysis: With Desmond Bane out again Wednesday and the Raptors presenting a good matchup, Morant absolutely cooked Toronto. The 25-year-old point guard had 26 points on 14 shots and made three 3-pointers in just 25 minutes of play. The Grizzlies cruised to a 138-107 victory. He's arguably had his two best games of the year in back-to-back days after dropping 25 points and 11 assists against the Spurs Tuesday.
Jaren Jackson
Jaren Jackson Jr. has 32/5/4 line in win over TOR
Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 4:44 PM
Jaren Jackson Jr. had 32 points (10-of-16 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, one block and four 3-pointers in the Grizzlies' 138-107 victory over the Raptors on Wednesday.
Analysis: Jackson Jr. now has at least 30 points in three straight games. Wednesday was probably his most impressive performance as he needed just 16 shots and 28 minutes to get there. Jackson Jr. had his 3-point shot working as he drained 4-of-5 attempts from behind the 3-point line. The 25-year-old power forward is enjoying another excellent season that resulted in making his second All-Star team.
John Konchar
John Konchar (shoulder) available Wednesday
Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 12:39 PM
John Konchar (shoulder) is available for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.
Analysis: Konchar played just 12 minutes off the bench Monday against the Spurs. The 28-year-old shooting guard simply isn't playing enough for his availability to significantly impact fantasy basketball either way.
Brandon Clarke
Brandon Clarke (back) available Wednesday vs. TOR
Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 12:35 PM
Brandon Clarke (back) is available for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.
Analysis: Clarke miss Monday's game with a sore back, though it was the second night of a back-to-back. The 28-year-old power forward played 19 minutes off the bench Sunday and figures to assume the same role Wednesday against Toronto. GG Jackson could lose minutes with Clarke's return.
Marcus Smart
Marcus Smart (finger) available Wednesday vs. TOR
Wed, Feb 5, 2025, 12:32 PM
Marcus Smart (finger) is available for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.
Analysis: Smart has been out since December 21 with a right index finger injury, but has been inching closer to a return recently. While he'll make that return Wednesday, he doesn't figure to provide much fantasy value in the Grizzlies' deep rotation in his first game back.
Marcus Smart
Marcus Smart, Vince Williams Jr. questionable Wed.
Tue, Feb 4, 2025, 11:44 AM
NBA Injury Report
Marcus Smart (finger) and Vince Williams Jr. (ankle) are questionable for Wednesday's game against Toronto.
Analysis: Smart has been out since December 21, recovering from a right index finger injury, while Williams last played on November 19. While their returns would bolster Memphis' numbers on the perimeter, this is already an incredibly deep team. In Smart's case, his name has come up in some trade rumors recently, so Wednesday could potentially be a “showcase” game for him.
John Konchar
John Konchar (shoulder) questionable Wednesday
Tue, Feb 4, 2025, 11:42 AM
NBA Injury Report
John Konchar (shoulder) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Toronto.
Analysis: Konchar, who missed a game in early January with a sore right shoulder, is questionable for Wednesday night due to the same issue. He played 12 minutes off the bench in Monday's win over San Antonio, which isn't enough playing time to impact fantasy basketball. Konchar's availability does not impact fantasy basketball when the Grizzlies are nearly whole.
