Stein: Draymond Green expected to remain with GSW
Sun, Jun 25, 2023, 5:54 PM
Marc Stein
Draymond Green is expected to remain with the Warriors, according to Marc Stein.
Analysis: There have been rumors of plenty of teams showing interest in Green, such as the Kings and Grizzlies, but it seems likely that his tenure in the San Francisco will continue. Stein said that he continues to "hear nothing but confidence" from the team that Green will return. It appears likely that Green will remain a Warrior until he retires, which will limit Jonathan Kuminga's fantasy upside.
Jonathan Kuminga
Fischer: Dubs explored Kuminga trade w/ Pacers
Fri, Jun 23, 2023, 9:21 AM
Jake Fischer, Yahoo Sports
According to Yahoo's Jake Fischer, the Warriors "held serious conversations with Indiana about trading Jonathan Kuminga for a package centered around the No.7 pick on Thursday."
Analysis: Kuminga went No. 7 in the 2021 NBA Draft, and after playing just 16.9 minutes per game as a rookie, he logged 20.8 minutes in 2022-23. Kuminga improved as a three-point shooter, but he made negligible steps as a scorer, rebounder, facilitator and defender in his second season. The Warriors are clearly open to moving on, and Fischer believes Kuminga could be moved before next season. A new destination and expanded role could be beneficial for his fantasy value.
Chris Paul
Woj Bomb: Warriors to acquire CP3 for Jordan Poole
Thu, Jun 22, 2023, 2:16 PM
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Warriors are working on a deal in which they'd acquire Chris Paul from the Wizards in exchange for Jordan Poole and draft assets.
Analysis: Wow. While Paul did not appear to be long for Washington after he was sent there in the Bradley Beal trade, this was a move few expected. The expectation of many was that CP3 would ultimately land with the Lakers or Clippers due to their respective needs for a point guard, but he's headed to the Bay Area instead. While there are injury concerns, adding a Hall of Fame point guard to the mix will help the Warriors in their quest to unseat the Nuggets as the best team in the West (and the NBA). Paul's fantasy value should hold steady, as he provided third-round, per-game value in 9-cat formats this past season.
Jordan Poole
Dunleavy, Warriors plan to hold onto Jordan Poole
Mon, Jun 19, 2023, 2:11 PM
Marc Spears on Twitter
New Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. said on Monday that he plans to keep Jordan Poole with the team for "four more years, at least."
Analysis: While outside opinions of Poole weren't too high at the end of the Warriors' season, Dunleavy (who is now the team's top executive) is not of the same mindset. The shooting guard's new four-year deal goes into effect next season, with Poole due to make more than $27 million. Even with Dunleavy having to address the situations of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson this summer, he clearly views Poole as a key player for the franchise's present and future. Green opted out of the final year of his contract on Monday, while Thompson is eligible for an extension this summer.

Greener pastures? Draymond opts out of final year
Mon, Jun 19, 2023, 11:42 AM
Shams Charania on Twitter
Draymond Green has declined his $27.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Analysis: As expected, Green is opting out of the final year of his contract. He now goes into this offseason as an unrestricted free agent. The possibilities for a new deal, Green leaving for a new destination or even a sign-and-trade are all on the table now. Green, a former DPOY and eight-time NBA All-Defensive team honoree, has been one of the core components to the Warriors' four championships over the past decade.
Jordan Poole
Report: Warriors receiving calls on Poole, Kuminga
Fri, Jun 16, 2023, 6:55 PM
ESPN.com
According to ESPN's Marc Spears, the Warriors have received calls from teams looking into the availability of Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga.
Analysis: On the heels of the Warriors winning the championship last season, Poole was rewarded with a contract worth $123 million over four years that will go into effect in 2023-24. But this past season was disappointing for him, despite 20.4 points and 4.5 assists per game. Comparatively speaking, Poole's impact was muted due in part to his move back to the bench. But would the Warriors consider trading him, given the age of the team's "big three" of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green? While a trade would free up money, the risks will also be considered. As for Kuminga, his role this season wasn't as prominent as he would have hoped, limiting his production and fantasy value. Should they do something, he's still on his rookie contract, so a move there may be easier for the Warriors to pull off. Between free agency, the statuses of Poole and Kuminga, and the draft, new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. will have a lot on his plate this summer.

Spears: Warriors expect Draymond Green to opt out
Fri, Jun 16, 2023, 6:48 PM
ESPN.com
ESPN's Marc Spears reported that the Warriors expect Draymond Green to opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent.
Analysis: Green would make close to $27.6 million next season if he were to play out his current contract, but he reportedly has other plans. This is one of the challenges that new general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. will have to deal with this summer as the Warriors look to remain in the championship conversation. According to Spears, Dunleavy has already met with Green and Stephen Curry since taking over. While the Warriors expect Green to opt out of the final season of his contract, they'll reportedly do all that they can to re-sign him.
Jordan Poole
Report: Jordan Poole not actively being shopped
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 11:31 AM
Anthony Slater on Twitter
According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors are not actively shopping Jordan Poole however he could be part of a trade if the return package is appealing.
Analysis: Poole's 4-year, $123M extension kicks in next season where he is slated to make $27.4M in 2023-24. Last season he played in all 82 games averaging 20.4 points and 4.5 assists per game. The Warriors also have key decisions to make regarding some of their older core players such as Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. With the new CBA in place, Golden State could be looking at a hefty tax bill without a sure-fire championship contending roster.
Jonathan Kuminga
Kerr: Jonathan Kuminga has path to consistent PT
Sun, May 21, 2023, 11:13 AM
The Athletic
In a recent interview, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that there are minutes for Jonathan Kuminga to take next season at the power forward position.
Analysis: It was reported shortly after the Warriors' season came to an end that Kuminga and his representatives were hoping for a more consistent role next season. While he was at his best when the Warriors were without Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II, Kuminga fell out of the rotation once those two returned. During his interview with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, Kerr said that there is a path to consistent playing time for Kuminga. "The minutes are there for him to take at the backup four next year," Kerr said. "He’s gotta make strides, and he and I talked about it. The No. 1 thing is he’s gotta rebound. If he rebounds and he runs the floor, there’s going to be a lot of opportunity for him." That isn't enough to make Kuminga a player to target in drafts, but he is worth keeping an eye on during the preseason.
Jonathan Kuminga
Report: Kuminga seeking larger role next season
Sat, May 13, 2023, 2:18 PM
The Athletic
According to The Athletic, Jonathan Kuminga hopes to have a larger role within the Warriors rotation next season.
Analysis: Kuminga, who appeared in 67 regular season games, was at his best when the Warriors were without Andrew Wiggins. But he didn't see much time during the postseason, hitting double figures in minutes once in Golden State's 13 games. It's been reported by The Athletic that Kuminga's representatives will meet with the Warriors this offseason to discuss his future with the franchise. While a full-time role would give him a shot at fantasy relevance, Kuminga wouldn't have much to offer managers if his status remains unchanged.
Klay Thompson
Report: Extension could include pay cut for Klay
Sat, May 13, 2023, 12:04 PM
The Athletic
According to Marcus Thompson and Shams Charania of The Athletic, a potential contract extension for Klay Thompson this summer could come with a pay cut.
Analysis: Thompson's season ended with a thud Friday night, as he shot 3-of-19 from the field and scored eight points in the Warriors' Game 6 loss to the Lakers. Golden State has some major questions to answer this offseason regarding its salary cap. The new collective bargaining agreement will make keeping a contending team together even more expensive than it already was. Thompson, who will make over $43.2 million in 2023-24, is eligible for an extension this summer. Should he be interested in getting a deal done, the veteran sharpshooter would likely have to accept a pay cut, according to The Athletic. Fantasy-wise, Thompson finished this season ranked well within the top 75, and that threshold is a fair expectation for him heading into next season.
Stephen Curry
Steph Curry leads Dubs with 32 in blowout loss
Sat, May 13, 2023, 12:07 AM
Steph Curry managed 32 points on 11-of-28 shooting to go with six rebounds, five assists, a steal, a block and four triples.
Analysis: Once again, Curry was the only Warrior who got anything going on offense, but he did so inefficiently and connected on just 4-of-14 shots from beyond the arc. Curry can’t shoulder all of the blame here, as his team shot a pedestrian 27.1% from three-point range and 37.9% from the field overall. Curry was one of two Warriors to score in double figures (Donte DiVincenzo, 16 points), showcasing the lackluster offense this team displayed. Curry looks like he still has a lot left in the tank, and he’ll surely be a top-10 fantasy pick yet again for the 2023-24 season.
Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson embarks on new career as bricklayer
Fri, May 12, 2023, 11:50 PM
Klay Thompson finished Friday’s Game 6 loss with eight points, five assists, three rebounds and two triples.
Analysis: Game 6 Klay? Never heard of him. Golden State needed the best version of Thompson in this series, and aside from his 30-point eruption in Game 2, that version never materialized. Over the final three games of the series, he totaled 27 points on 9-of-42 shooting and never got going on offense. He laid bricks all night Friday on 3-of-19 shooting and hit just 2-of-12 three-pointers as his team was eliminated from the playoffs. Overall, it was a series to forget for one of the best shooters the game has ever seen.

Kendra Andrews on Twitter
Andrew Wiggins is officially active against the Lakers for Game 6, according to ESPN's Kendra Andrews.
Analysis: As expected, Wiggins is available for a win-or-go-home Game 6 in Los Angeles. He had his best game of the postseason in Wednesday's Game 5 victory, posting a 25/7/5 line.

Woj: Andrew Wiggins expected to play in Game 6
Fri, May 12, 2023, 2:24 PM
Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
Andrew Wiggins (costal cartilage fracture) is expected to play in Game 6 against the Lakers on Friday, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Analysis: Wiggins went through shootaround this morning, and the initial report suggested that a decision would be made closer to tipoff. However, an updated report from Wojnarowski indicates that he’ll likely play in this game. Even if he plays, it won’t be an easy injury to play (and shoot) through.

Andrew Wiggins (ribs) takes part in shootaround
Fri, May 12, 2023, 1:16 PM
Vince Goodwill on Twitter
Andrew Wiggins (left costal cartilage fracture) participated in the Warriors' pregame shootaround for Friday's game against the Lakers.
Analysis: While Wiggins was not present when media were allowed to enter for the players' individual work, he did participate in the strategy portion of the pregame shootaround. He remains listed as questionable for Friday night's Game 6, with the Warriors looking to extend the series to a seventh game. Should Wiggins not be cleared to play, Jordan Poole (who has struggled in this series) and Donte DiVincenzo are the candidates to replace him in the starting lineup.
Andrew Wiggins
Andrew Wiggins (ribs) questionable vs. Lakers Fri.
Thu, May 11, 2023, 7:39 PM
NBA Injury Report
Andrew Wiggins (left costal cartilage fracture) is questionable to play against the Lakers in Game 6 on Friday.
Analysis: Wiggins is questionable due to a fracture in his rib cage. The severity is unknown, but it would likely have to be pretty serious for him to miss this game. If he does, they'll have to make an interesting starting lineup change. Kevon Looney could slide back in, so they're not giving up too much size. Jordan Poole has traditionally started when one of their perimeter players misses time, but he's struggled lately. Donte DiVincenzo would be another candidate to start. We'll see what Steve Kerr decides, if he has to make that decision.
Andrew Wiggins
Andrew Wiggins posts big 25/7/5/1 line Wednesday
Thu, May 11, 2023, 12:07 AM
Andrew Wiggins provided 25 points, seven rebounds, five assists, a steal and two triples in Wednesday’s 121-106 win over the Lakers.
Analysis: The 25 points are easily a new playoff high for Wiggins this year, and he finished behind only Steph Curry (25) for team lead. Wiggy did a bit of everything in this one as his effort shone through on both ends of the court. Wiggins was one of the catalysts for Golden State’s victory in a must-win game, and he’ll look to keep the momentum moving forward Friday for Game 6.
Klay Thompson
What's that smell: Klay Thompson stinks it up Wed.
Thu, May 11, 2023, 12:01 AM
Klay Thompson shot 3-of-12 from the field and finished Wednesday’s win over Los Angeles with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, two blocks and two triples.
Analysis: Yikes. After erupting for 30 points and eight triples in the Dubs’ Game 2 blowout win, Klay has totaled 34 points on 11-of-37 shooting across his last three contests. He's been disastrously bad on offense, and he's just 8-of-24 from beyond the arc in that span. Fortunately for him, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Steph Curry all finished with at least 20 points, but Klay will need to pick it up if his team hopes to steal a win in Los Angeles on Friday to avoid elimination. Will we get “Game 6 Klay” back for a throwback performance?
Draymond Green
Dray Day: Draymond Green bounces back w/ 20/10
Wed, May 10, 2023, 11:50 PM
Draymond Green posted 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals, a block and a triple in Wednesday’s win over the Lakers.
Analysis: Since erupting for 21 points in Game 2 against Sacramento, Green has averaged just 6.5 points. He was aggressive Wednesday, going off for his second 20-point game of the postseason and finishing as one of three starters (Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins) with at least 20. Green also double-doubled thanks to his work on the boards, and he chipped in his typical defensive contributions. He and the Warriors will look to keep their season alive with a win at Los Angeles in Game 6 on Friday.
