Nikola Jokic
Jokic posts absurd triple-double vs. Mavericks
Sun, Nov 10, 2024, 4:51 PM
Nikola Jokic stuffed the stat sheet with 37 points (13-of-21 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), 18 rebounds, 15 assists, three steals, and three three-pointers to lift the Nuggets past the Mavericks on Sunday.
Analysis: Jokic didn't disappoint with his fourth consecutive triple-double. The superstar big man is setting career highs across the board in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and three-point percentage. He's hands down the best fantasy player any manager could ask for.
Vlatko Cancar
Vlatko Cancar (ankle) ruled out Sunday vs. Dallas
Sat, Nov 9, 2024, 12:33 PM
NBA Injury Report
Valtko Cancar (right ankle sprain) is out for Sunday's game against the Mavericks.
Analysis: Cancar remains sidelined, and fantasy managers should consider him out indefinitely. His absence does not impact the Nuggets' rotation or fantasy basketball leagues.
Christian Braun
Christian Braun records 21/6/2/0/1 line vs. Heat
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 5:35 PM
Christian Braun accumulated 21 points (7-of-9 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs), six rebounds, two assists, one block, and three 3-pointers in 35 minutes in Friday's win over the Heat.
Analysis: With Jamal Murray back in the lineup, Braun's production was something to watch during Friday's game. He played well, making the most of his opportunities and scoring 21 points. Braun has accounted for 20 or more in two straight games, which is the first time he's done so as a professional. Fantasy managers aren't expecting Braun to provide 20 points (or more) per night, but being a credible offensive threat will boost his value.
Michael Porter
Michael Porter Jr. hits five 3-pointers, scores 21
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 5:34 PM
Michael Porter Jr. amassed 21 points (8-of-15 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block, and five 3-pointers in 36 minutes in Friday's win over Miami.
Analysis: A 20-point (or better) scorer in four of his last five games, Porter has shot 14-of-30 from deep over the last three. The production kicked up a notch when the Nuggets were without Jamal Murray, with MPJ providing top-15 value. Porter having a productive night with Murray in the lineup is encouraging for fantasy managers, and he's having a top-40 season thus far.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (concussion) scores 28 in return
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 5:34 PM
Jamal Murray (concussion protocol) finished Friday's win over the Heat with 28 points (9-of-17 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), four rebounds, six assists, and four 3-pointers in 34 minutes.
Analysis: Murray was active for the first time since he was injured in a November 1 loss to the Timberwolves. He made up for lost time with an excellent offensive performance. Only Nikola Jokic scored more points, and Murray also accumulated six assists. The Nuggets guard also made some history, becoming the first player in franchise history to make 1,000 3-pointers. Murray's return dropped Russell Westbrook to the bench, and he finished with six points, four rebounds, 10 assists, one block, and two 3-pointers in 24 minutes.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic posts 30/11/14/2 stat line vs. Heat
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 5:34 PM
Nikola Jokic shot 11-of-13 from the field and 7-of-7 from the foul line in Friday's win over Miami, scoring 30 points with 11 rebounds, 14 assists, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 40 minutes.
Analysis: Jokic has recorded a triple-double in three straight games, with Friday's being his sixth of the season. While more than a few fantasy players (and analysts) were willing to shift their affections to Victor Wembanyama, The Joker sits atop the rankings in per-game value. No one would be surprised if Jokic put up another top-ranked fantasy season. The Nuggets host Dallas in their final game of Week 3 on Sunday.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (concussion) available Friday vs. MIA
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 2:21 PM
Denver Nuggets
Jamal Murray (concussion protocol) is available for Friday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Injured during Denver's November 1 loss to the Timberwolves, Murray has missed three games due to his time in the league's concussion protocol. His return means Russell Westbrook drops to the bench, cutting into his streaming value. Due to Denver's limited depth, Westbrook is worth holding onto in deep leagues.
Jamal Murray
Malone: Murray (concussion) to play Friday
Fri, Nov 8, 2024, 1:23 PM
Nuggets coach Michael Malone told reporters Jamal Murray (concussion protocol) is expected to play on Friday against the Heat.
Analysis: Murray has missed the last three games for Denver. Russell Westbrook has started all of those games with Murray out. Westbrook would feel the most impact of anyone with Murray's return expected on Friday.
Vlatko Cancar
Vlatko Cancar (ankle) ruled out Friday vs. Miami
Thu, Nov 7, 2024, 10:36 AM
NBA Injury Report
Vlatko Cancar (right ankle sprain) is out for Friday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Unlike previous games, in which Cancar was a doubtful tag on the preliminary injury report, he has immediately been ruled out for Friday's game. His absence will not impact fantasy basketball, even with Aaron Gordon (calf) sidelined.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (concussion) questionable Friday
Thu, Nov 7, 2024, 10:34 AM
NBA Injury Report
Jamal Murray (concussion protocol) is questionable for Friday's game against the Heat.
Analysis: Murray has been out since Denver's November 1 loss to Minnesota, missing games against Utah, Toronto, and Oklahoma City. Russell Westbrook, who has started for Murray, is the player most impacted by the Nuggets star's availability.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic dominates with 23/20/16/2/2 line
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 6:09 PM
Nikola Jokic posted a monster triple-double on Wednesday with 23 points (9-of-20 FGs), 20 rebounds, 16 assists, two steals, two blocks, one triple and five turnovers in a 124-122 loss to Oklahoma City.
Analysis: This level of production would be a career highlight for 99% of the league, but they have become run-of-the-mill for Jokic. The reigning MVP has dominated the fantasy landscape so far, and Denver is starting to click after a slow start. They started the season 0-2, and this was their first win over a team that isn't expected to have a chance at drafting Cooper Flagg. However, if you take a glass half full approach, they've now won five of their last six games, with the loss coming in Minnesota by three points. Of course, fantasy managers aren't as concerned about the team. Win or lose, Jokic will continue to dominate.
Christian Braun
Christian Braun scores 24 points with four triples
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 6:03 PM
Christian Braun lit up the Thunder with 24 points (7-of-14 FGs), eight rebounds, two steals, one block and four 3-pointers on Wednesday.
Analysis: Braun had one of the best performances of his career in this game. He fell one point shy of tying his career-high for points, but he was able to set a new career-high for 3-pointers. Braun has been a top-50 player in 9-cat leagues so far with the best averages of his career across the board. This statistical jump was unexpected, and he has been more than the beneficiary of a larger role. Getting Braun in the later rounds seems like it will end up being a league-winning move based on the early results.
Christian Braun
Peyton Watson provides 10/3/3/1/3 line in start
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 5:55 PM
Peyton Watson got the start on Wednesday and finished with 10 points (4-of-9 FGs), three rebounds, three assists, one steal, three blocks and one triple against Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Aaron Gordon is set to miss 2-4 weeks with a calf strain, and Watson got the start in his place in this game. It wasn't a spectacular first day, but it should be his job for a few weeks. He came up with a big block on a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander layup attempt on the final play that sealed the win for Denver, which came right after he missed two free throws that would've put the game away. He showed great resilience on that play, and he should continue to provide defensive numbers in an increased role for the next few weeks.
Russell Westbrook
Vintage Russ: Westbrook dominates Thunder in win
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 5:51 PM
Russell Westbrook turned back the clock on Wednesday and contributed 29 points (10-of-15 FGs), six rebounds, six assists, one steal and three 3-pointers against the Thunder.
Analysis: Vintage Russ. He has been filling in as the starting point guard with Jamal Murray (concussion) sidelined, and he has been fantastic in that role. The first start didn't go well, but he has scored at least 20 points in back-to-back games now. He'll return to being the team's sixth man when Murray returns, though it's unclear if that will be against Miami on Friday. Given how the last few years have gone for him, it's difficult to imagine that he'll keep things going in that game. However, you can't discredit what he has done lately for the Nuggets. If this is the type of player they added, and he can do this as their sixth man, their bench questions will be answered quickly.
Peyton Watson
DEN starting Westbrook, Braun, MPJ, Watson, Jokic
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 2:36 PM
Denver Nuggets
Russell Westbrook, Christian Braun, Michael Porter Jr., Peyton Watson, and Nikola Jokic will start Wednesday's game against the Thunder.
Analysis: The Nuggets are without Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, with the latter suffering a calf strain expected to sideline him for weeks. Westbrook will again fill in for Murray, while Watson makes his first start of the season as Gordon's replacement. Watson is worth streaming until Gordon is cleared to return.
Vlatko Cancar
Vlatko Cancar (ankle) out Wednesday vs. Thunder
Wed, Nov 6, 2024, 2:21 PM
Denver Nuggets
Vlatko Cancar (right ankle sprain) is out for Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Cancar remains sidelined for another game, but the expectation is that he'll be back soon. When cleared to play, he can earn rotation minutes with Aaron Gordon (calf) sidelined. There's no need to stash Cancar in an IL+ slot.
Vlatko Cancar
Vlatko Cancar (ankle) doubtful Wednesday vs. OKC
Tue, Nov 5, 2024, 1:46 PM
NBA Injury Report
Vlatko Cancar (right ankle sprain) is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Thunder.
Analysis: Cancar's likely absence will not impact fantasy basketball, as he's rarely in the rotation when healthy. With Aaron Gordon (calf) sidelined, expect to see a lot of Peyton Watson and Julian Strawther, with the former likely moving into the starting lineup.
Aaron Gordon
Shams: Aaron Gordon (calf) to miss multiple weeks
Tue, Nov 5, 2024, 9:36 AM
Shams Charania
Aaron Gordon (right calf strain) is expected to miss multiple weeks.
Analysis: Gordon only played four minutes on Monday night before exiting, which gave us a good look at what things will look like with Peyton Watson filling the void. He finished with 16 points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals, two blocks and a 3-pointer in 31 minutes, which makes him a high-priority streaming option for the next few weeks. Hunter Tyson should be the backup power forward, though he didn't do much in his 15 minutes on Monday.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook finishes with 21/6/6/1 line
Mon, Nov 4, 2024, 7:25 PM
Russell Westbrook lit up Toronto with 21 points (6-of-10 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), six rebounds, six assists, one steal and one triple on Monday.
Analysis: Russ got his second straight start on Monday and ended up having arguably his best game of the season. This was his second game scoring in double figures, and he scored more than 20 in both. With Jamal Murray dealing with a concussion, Westbrook has played more than 30 minutes in their last two games. Opportunity doesn't always mean success for Russ, as he did struggle immensely against the Jazz on Saturday. They'll be taking on an elite Thunder defense on Wednesday, which seems like a recipe for a bad game from Russ. He played well in this one, but it's smart to play it safe and not expect it to continue.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic posts 28/14/13/2/2 triple-double
Mon, Nov 4, 2024, 7:21 PM
Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double on Monday with 28 points (10-of-22 FGs), 14 rebounds, 13 assists, two steals, two blocks, one triple and seven turnovers in a 121-119 win over the Raptors.
Analysis: Jokic was able to contribute some defensive stats in this game to go along with his third triple-double of the season. Denver got off to a slow start to the year, but they have now won four of their last five games, though their wins have been against the Jazz, Nets and Raptors twice. They'll host the Thunder on Wednesday in a rematch of the season opener, which will give us a better indication of where this Denver team is at. Regardless, there isn't much that any team can do to slow down Jokic, which has been the case for years now.
