George Springer
George Springer Goes yard in return to lineup
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 5:49 PM
Springer went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 rout of the Giants.
Analysis: Back in the lineup for the first time since June 30, Springer went back-to-back with Vladimir Guerrero in the ninth inning off Ryan Walker to put an exclamation point on the Blue Jays' offensive outburst. Springer picked up right where he left off prior to away from the team due to the birth of his child -- over his last 14 games in June, he'd slashed .281/.333/.439 with two homers, three steals, five RBI and eight runs.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ends power drought in rout
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 5:45 PM
Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Giants.
Analysis: The first baseman snapped a 17-game homer drought, launching just his fifth long ball of the season in the ninth inning off Ryan Walker. Guerrero's had a rough first half -- during those 17 games he managed a weak .194/.250/.226 slash line with only two doubles and five RBI -- but Wednesday's blast could help take some of the pressure off his shoulders.
Dylan Cease
Dylan Cease Nearly dials up no-no
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 5:42 PM
Cease (6-4) picked up the win Wednesday in a 10-0 rout of the Giants, scattering one hit and three walks over eight scoreless innings. He struck out 11.
Analysis: The right-hander took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, but Heliot Ramos broke it up with a leadoff single, ending Cease's afternoon at 118 pitches (81 strikes). It was his sixth start of the season with double-digit strikeouts, and Cease heads into the All-Star break with a 2.56 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and American League-leading 148 strikeouts in just 98.1 innings. He's on the short list to get the start for the AL in the All-Star Game.
George Springer
George Springer Making first start since June 30
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 12:42 PM
Springer will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Toronto reinstated Springer from the family medical emergency list Monday, but he was held out of the lineup for the club's first two games of its series in San Francisco. Springer will return to the lineup for the finale in what will be his first start since June 30, and he'll bat somewhere other than the leadoff spot for the first time all season while manager John Schneider sticks with Ernie Clement atop the batting order for the third straight contest. The arrangement won't necessarily be a permanent one, but slotting behind Vladimir Guerrero in the order could prove beneficial for Springer, who has struggled to a .221/.308/.373 batting line over 276 plate appearances on the season.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Absent from lineup Wednesday
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 12:39 PM
Keys is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Francisco.
Analysis: Keys started the previous seven games and contributed two hits and two RBI in Tuesday's victory, but he'll get some rest during Wednesday's series finale. With George Springer ready to rejoin the Blue Jays' lineup, Keys could see his playing time dip moving forward.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Productive in Tuesday's win
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 9:48 AM
Keys went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Giants.
Analysis: With George Springer still out of the lineup, Keys made his sixth straight start and put together a strong effort. The rookie has gone 5-for-21 (.238) to begin July with a homer, four runs and five RBI in those six games, but a shaky 38.1 percent strikeout rate. Springer could be back in action as soon as Wednesday, which would leave Keys without a clear path to regular playing time.
George Springer
George Springer Out of Tuesday's lineup
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 6:08 PM
Springer isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Springer will miss out on the starting nine for a second straight game since returning from the family emergency list Monday. Sean Keys will fill in as Toronto's designated hitter and bat seventh.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Sitting Tuesday
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 6:01 PM
Kirk isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Kirk will get a break Tuesday after going 0-for-7 with a walk across his last two starts. Brandon Valenzuela will replace him behind the plate and bat fifth.
Chad Dallas
Chad Dallas Back in majors
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 5:56 PM
The Blue Jays recalled Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
Analysis: Dallas conceded one earned run in 3.2 innings during his MLB debut June 4 and has since given up just one run in 13.2 frames at Triple-A. His strong performance will now buy him another look in the majors, presumably as a long-relief option. Yohendrick Pinango was optioned to Buffalo in a corresponding move.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Relegated to Buffalo
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 5:47 PM
The Blue Jays optioned Pinango to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
Analysis: Pinango has gone just 4-for-23 (.174) in eight games since his return to the big leagues, and he'll now end up as the roster casualty necessary to clear space for Chad Dallas. The 24-year-old Pinango still owns a .726 OPS with Toronto this season and figures to have a good chance to return to the majors later in the year.
Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Set to start Tuesday
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 10:56 AM
Miles will start Tuesday's game against the Giants, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Miles will be making his third start of the season in what will be his first appearance since last Wednesday, when he fired three scoreless innings as a bulk reliever to pick up a win against the Mets. The 25-year-old may have trouble pitching deep enough to qualify for a possible victory in San Francisco since he hasn't thrown more than 40 pitches in an appearance since early June, but he should still be able to provide Toronto with a few frames to begin the game. Patrick Corbin worked behind Miles in last Wednesday's matchup with the Mets and could do so again Tuesday.
Kazuma Okamoto
Kazuma Okamoto Reaches 20 homers
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 2:54 AM
Okamoto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Okamoto accounted for Toronto's only run with a solo homer in the sixth inning. It was his 20th long ball of the season, making him one of 19 major-leaguers to reach that mark so far in 2026. Okamoto also became the third Japanese-born player to notch 20-plus homers in his rookie MLB campaign, joining Shohei Ohtani (2018) and Munetaka Murakami (this season).
Kevin Gausman
Kevin Gausman Fans eight but takes loss
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 2:49 AM
Gausman (4-8) took the loss against San Francisco on Monday, allowing seven runs (four earned) on five hits and five walks while striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings.
Analysis: It didn't take long for Gausman to fall behind, as he served up a triple to Heliot Ramos leading off the bottom of the first inning and then watched Ramos cross the plate on an error by Andres Gimenez. The veteran hurler managed to get through five frames with a manageable three runs on his ledger, but things really fell apart for him in the sixth. In that frame, he issued two walks before surrendering two runs on a single, and he was subsequently given the hook. Gausman did rack up 14 whiffs and eight punchouts, but it was otherwise a forgettable performance that included a season-high five free passes. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which is lined up to be road matchup in San Diego this weekend.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Moving rehab to Triple-A
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 7:05 PM
Scherzer (back) will make his next rehab start at Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
Analysis: Scherzer tossed 49 pitches at High-A Vancouver on Friday, and he evidently got through the outing without issue. He'll presumably need at least one or two additional rehab starts before the team considers activating him from the 15-day injured list.
Braydon Fisher
Braydon Fisher Placed on bereavement list
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 6:46 PM
The Blue Jays placed Fisher (personal) on the bereavement list Monday.
Analysis: Fisher will be away from the team while tending to a personal matter, with the move corresponding with the Blue Jays reinstating George Springer (personal) from the family emergency medical list. Fisher has a 3.33 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, eight holds, one save and a 46:21 K:BB across 46 innings this season.
George Springer
George Springer Activated but not in lineup
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 6:43 PM
The Blue Jays reinstated Springer (personal) from the family emergency medical list Monday.
Analysis: Springer is now eligible to return to the lineup for Toronto, but that will have to wait for at least one more day while Sean Keys serves as the designated hitter and bats fifth in Monday's series opener. Springer had gone 16-for-61 (.262) with three steals, two home runs, five RBI and a triple in his 15 games prior to his absence. The move corresponds with the Blue Jays placing Braydon Fisher on the bereavement list.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Out of Monday's lineup
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 5:44 PM
Pinango is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.
Analysis: Even with right-hander Landen Roupp taking the mound for the Giants, the lefty-hitting Pinango will be on the bench for Monday's series opener while Myles Straw starts in left field and bats eighth. Since returning to the majors June 27, Pinango has gone 4-for-23 (.174) with one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts.
George Springer
George Springer Not in Monday's lineup
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 5:42 PM
Springer (personal) is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.
Analysis: Springer was moved from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Saturday and is expected to join the Blue Jays for their series in San Francisco, but he will not be in the lineup for the series opener. Sean Keys will serve as Toronto's designated hitter and bat fifth.
Trey Yesavage
Trey Yesavage Charged with fourth loss
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:08 PM
Yesavage (4-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks over six innings against Seattle. He struck out seven.
Analysis: Yesavage churned out a quality start, though a no-show from the Toronto offense saddled him with the loss. After not allowing a homer in any of his first seven starts this season, the right-hander has surrendered seven long balls across his past six starts, including a two-run shot to Mitch Garver in the fourth inning Sunday. Yesavage will take a 3.31 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 68:32 K:BB across 73.1 innings (13 starts) into his final outing before the All-Star break, tentatively scheduled for Saturday at San Diego.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Drawing fifth straight start
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 3:49 PM
Keys will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Keys will collect his fifth start in a row after going 3-for-15 with a home run, a double and three RBI over the previous four contests. His run as an everyday player could end soon, however. The Blue Jays could get George Springer (personal) back from the family medical emergency list as soon as Monday, and Keys is likely to fade into a bench role or return to Triple-A Buffalo at that point.
