Jesus Sanchez
Jesus Sanchez Battling sprained ankle
Fri, Jun 26, 2026, 9:35 PM
Sanchez was removed from Friday's game against the Rangers with a sprained right ankle, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Sanchez went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being lifted in the seventh inning. X-rays on his ankle came back negative after the game, so he doesn't appear to be dealing with a severe injury. That said, the Jays may still give the 28-year-old a day or two off so he can recover.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Resting up Friday
Fri, Jun 26, 2026, 3:50 PM
Kirk is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Kirk will get a break Friday after he went 1-for-7 at the plate while catching 18 innings over the past two days. Brandon Valenzuela will step in at catcher for Kirk and will bat eighth.
Heading to big leagues
Fri, Jun 26, 2026, 3:02 PM
The Blue Jays are expected to promote Keys from Triple-A Buffalo ahead of Saturday's game against the Rangers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Keys is with the Blue Jays for the start of the weekend series against Texas, but the move won't be made official until Saturday. Between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Keys has slashed .284/.409/.619 with 21 homers, 54 RBI, 55 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a 39:66 BB:K across 286 plate appearances. A corner infielder by trade, Keys doesn't have a clear path at those positions with Kazuma Okamoto and Vladimir Guerrero manning third base and first base respectively. George Springer has also seen all of his at-bats at designated hitter this season. Toronto clearly wants to inject Keys' power into the lineup.
Adam Macko
Adam Macko Back with big-league club
Fri, Jun 26, 2026, 2:25 PM
The Blue Jays recalled Macko from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.
Analysis: In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays designated Simeon Woods Richardson for assignment. Macko has appeared in 12 games for Toronto this season, posting a 1.50 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 12:2 K:BB across 12 innings.
Simeon Woods Richardson
Simeon Woods Richardson DFA'd by Toronto
Fri, Jun 26, 2026, 2:23 PM
The Blue Jays designated Woods Richardson for assignment Friday.
Analysis: Woods Richardson was acquired from the Twins earlier this month and has appeared in three games out of the bullpen for Toronto. While he hasn't allowed a run, the right-hander has an ugly 5:7 K:BB across 10 innings.
Kazuma Okamoto
Kazuma Okamoto Goes yard again Thursday
Fri, Jun 26, 2026, 10:03 AM
Okamoto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: The 29-year-old third baseman made things interesting in the ninth inning by crushing a fastball from Texas closer Jacob Latz 420 feet to straightaway center field, but the Blue Jays' late rally came up short. Okamoto has homered in three of the last five games, and over 21 contests in June he's produced a .316/.384/.605 slash line with four doubles, six long balls, 14 runs and 18 RBI as he makes a push to start for the American League in the All-Star Game during his first season in MLB.
Kevin Gausman
Kevin Gausman Lit up again in sixth loss
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 10:12 PM
Gausman (4-6) took the loss Thursday against the Rangers, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: After being torched for seven runs Friday against the Cubs, Gausman struggled on the hill once again Thursday while matching a season worst in hits allowed. The Rangers did most of their damage during a five-run third frame, taking Gausman deep three times on the evening. The 35-year-old right-hander will try to get back on track at home against the Mets next week, now holding a 4.36 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 93:22 K:BB over 95 innings.
Yimi Garcia
Yimi Garcia Remains in holding pattern
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 3:44 PM
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Garcia (elbow) remains in a holding pattern due to neck and biceps nerve symptoms, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Garcia was initially sidelined following surgery last September to remove scar tissue from his elbow, but it seems his nerve issues are the bigger problem now. The 35-year-old reliever remains shut down for the time being and it's uncertain when he might be cleared to throw again.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Cortisone shot for side/back
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 3:41 PM
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Scherzer (back) will travel to Dallas on Friday to get a cortisone shot to "help alleviate some left side stuff," Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Scherzer landed on the 15-day injured list last week because of back spasms, and it seems his side discomfort is related to that. The veteran hurler threw another bullpen session Thursday, and he will return to Toronto following Friday's cortisone shot before the next steps in his rehab are determined.
Ernie Clement
Ernie Clement Back in action Thursday
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 2:33 PM
Clement (hip) will start at shortstop and bat second Thursday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Left hip soreness forced Clement to miss four starts in the past six games, but he was able to appear as a pinch hitter Wednesday and will now return to the starting nine for Thursday's series opener. The 30-year-old infielder has fallen into a cold spell at the plate recently, going just 2-for-19 with a walk and a run scored across his last six games.
Ricky Tiedemann
Ricky Tiedemann Scratched with neck issue
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 1:33 PM
Tiedemann (elbow) did not make a scheduled rehab start with Single-A Dunedin on Tuesday due to neck soreness, Thomas Hall of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Tiedemann had been set for his first start with Dunedin after making a pair of one-inning starts in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. The Blue Jays have not yet decided when Tiedemann will next take the ball, but the neck issue shouldn't be too significant of a setback. Tiedemann missed all of 2025 after Tommy John surgery and was shut down this spring due to renewed elbow soreness. He will eventually be assigned to Triple-A Buffalo once he's done with his rehab assignment.
Heating up at Single-A
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 9:58 AM
Parker went 1-for-4 with a solo home run for Single-A Dunedin on Wednesday.
Analysis: The homer was Parker's fourth in the last six games, and through 17 contests in June he's produced a .290/.384/.629 slash line with nine total extra-base hits, six steals and a much-improved 20.5 percent strikeout rate. The eighth overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft out of a Mississippi high school, Parker needed a couple months to adjust to pro ball, but if he maintains his current level of performance for another few weeks he could reach High-A before his 20th birthday in August.
Still slugging since promotion
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 9:52 AM
Keys went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Analysis: The 23-year-old third baseman began the year with a .287/.419/.585 slash line and 14 homers in 49 games for Double-A New Hampshire, and since getting promoted to Buffalo in early June, Keys has kept right on slugging with a .288/.408/.712 line and six long balls in his first 17 games at Triple-A. A fourth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Bucknell, Keys is knocking loudly on the door of the majors, but it's unclear where he might fit this summer on a Blue Jays roster that has Vladimir Guerrero at first base, Kazuma Okamoto at third and George Springer at DH.
Trey Yesavage
Trey Yesavage Mixed results in no-decision
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 9:27 PM
Yesavage did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Astros, allowing one run on two hits and five walks with five strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Analysis: Yesavage allowed a run in the first inning but kept the Astros off the board from there, falling one out shy of a quality start and departing in a 1-1 tie. Despite a solid result, the 22-year-old has now issued five or more walks in three of his past five outings. He'll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 58:30 K:BB across 60.2 innings this season into a home matchup against the Mets next week.
Nathan Lukes
Nathan Lukes Goes deep in loss
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 9:18 PM
Lukes went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Lukes provided Toronto's only offense with a solo homer in the first inning, but he was lifted in favor of Myles Straw to face lefty Josh Hader in the ninth. It continued a strong June for the 31-year-old, who's hit safely in 16 of 20 games while batting .300 with three home runs, six RBI and eight runs scored this month. For the year, he's slashing .301/.344/.420 with three long balls, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored across 156 plate appearances.
Jesus Sanchez
Jesus Sanchez Left out of starting nine
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 4:49 PM
Sanchez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Sanchez is stuck in a 3-for-23 skid at the plate over his last seven games and will be given the night off to regroup. The Blue Jays will go with Davis Schneider in left field in place of Sanchez.
Addison Barger
Addison Barger Still sore while hitting
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 3:55 PM
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Barger (elbow) will fly back to Toronto soon to be examined by the medical staff before potentially beginning a rehab assignment, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jays initially hoped Barger would be ready for a rehab assignment last week, but he's still feeling a bit of soreness in his right elbow at times when hitting. A revised timeline pointed toward Barger kicking off his rehab assignment Thursday, but it's unclear whether that could still happen. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since mid-May due to right elbow inflammation.
Ernie Clement
Ernie Clement Sitting again with hip issue
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 2:14 PM
Clement (hip) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Clement will be relegated to the bench for a second straight game while he tends to a sore left hip, which previously kept him out of the lineup for two games over the weekend. Luis Urias will pick up another start at the keystone Wednesday while Clement receives further maintenance for his hip.
Tyler Rogers
Tyler Rogers Blows save chance Tuesday
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 9:45 AM
Rogers gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits in one inning of relief Tuesday to take his third blown save of the season in an extra-innings loss to the Astros.
Analysis: With Louis Varland getting some rest after throwing 40 pitches while working two of the prior three days, manager John Schneider had to look to other high-leverage options in a close game. Jeff Hoffman got the final two outs in the eighth inning with the score tied 4-4, and after the Blue Jays took a two-run lead in the bottom of that frame, Rogers got the call in the top of the ninth. The veteran right-hander couldn't close the door, giving up back-to-back singles to Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez to begin the inning and watching both eventually come around to score on a catcher's interference call and a sacrifice fly. The earned run was the first on Rogers' ledger since May 25, although he did get tagged for five unearned runs against the Cubs on June 19. On the season, he sports a 1.91 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB over 37.2 innings with one win, two saves and 17 holds, and he may be due for some rest of his own -- only teammates Mason Fluharty (42 appearances) and Braydon Fisher (40) have appeared in more games this season than Rogers.
Luis Urias
Luis Urias Goes yard in Jays debut
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 8:11 AM
Urias went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Starting at second base and batting seventh in his Blue Jays debut, Urias made an immediate impact when he took Peter Lambert deep in the fourth inning to get his new squad on the board. Urias had been posting big numbers for Triple-A Reno in the Diamondbacks' system to begin the season, but over the last three big-league campaigns, the 29-year-old infielder managed just a .213/.319/.337 slash line over 611 plate appearances while suiting up for four different teams. Urias has enough pop and positional versatility to find a role on the bench with Toronto, but he's unlikely to be a useful fantasy asset if he does receive consistent playing time.
