Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Heading to bench Thursday
Thu, May 28, 2026, 2:38 PM
Pinango is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: Pinango saw his five-game hitting streak come to an end Wednesday, when he struck out in all three of his at-bats in the Blue Jays' 2-1 win over the Marlins. Though he's been reasonably productive at the big-league level this season with a .743 OPS across 83 plate appearances, Pinango could nonetheless find himself as an odd man out of the lineup more frequently with the Toronto outfield group suddenly becoming more crowded. The Blue Jays already got Nathan Lukes back from the injured list Monday, and Addison Barger (elbow) appears to be trending toward a return from the shelf in early-to-mid June.
Lazaro Estrada
Lazaro Estrada Moved to 60-day IL
Thu, May 28, 2026, 2:02 PM
The Blue Jays transferred Estrada (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday.
Analysis: Estrada has been on the shelf since early April due to a right shoulder impingement, and though an official timeline for his return hasn't been established, he won't be available for the Blue Jays until at least June 4 now that he's on the 60-day IL. He'll also give up his place on the 40-man roster to infielder Charles McAdoo, who was called up from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.
Officially promoted
Thu, May 28, 2026, 1:56 PM
The Blue Jays selected McAdoo's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.
Analysis: With Lenyn Sosa (wrist) headed for the injured list, the Blue Jays will turn to McAdoo to fill in as infield depth. The 24-year-old has slashed .250/.357/.432 with eight homers, 27 RBI, 31 runs and seven steals through 50 games at Buffalo, and he'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.
Lenyn Sosa
Lenyn Sosa Placed on injured list
Thu, May 28, 2026, 1:51 PM
The Blue Jays placed Sosa on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right wrist contusion, retroactive to Wednesday.
Analysis: Sosa sat out Toronto's game Tuesday after getting hit on the wrist by a pitch Monday, and he'll now have to miss at least nine more days after being placed on the injured list. Charles McAdoo was selected from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move to replenish the Jays' infield depth.
Chase Lee
Chase Lee Back to Triple-A
Thu, May 28, 2026, 12:55 PM
The Blue Jays optioned Lee to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, reports Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
Analysis: Lee is being sent down to make space for Connor Seabold as he joins the big-league club after being sent over from Detroit. Lee made just two appearances after being recalled to Toronto on May 19, giving up four walks and two earned runs over two frames.
Tyler Rogers
Tyler Rogers Picks up second save
Thu, May 28, 2026, 9:21 AM
Rogers worked a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his second save of the season in a win over the Marlins.
Analysis: A pop-up and two flyouts took care of Miami's 7-8-9 hitters after Louis Varland had worked the eighth against the heart of the order. Toronto manager John Schneider's willingness to use Varland outside the ninth will open up occasional save chances for other relievers, but Rogers will be competing for those rare opportunities with Jeff Hoffman, and potentially Yimi Garcia (elbow) beginning in early June as well. On the season, Rogers sports a 2.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB over 25 innings while also collecting one win and nine holds in 26 appearances.
Jeff Hoffman
Jeff Hoffman Collects win Wednesday
Thu, May 28, 2026, 9:16 AM
Hoffman (3-3) picked up the win over the Marlins on Wednesday, giving up two hits in 1.1 scoreless innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.
Analysis: The right-hander entered the game with two outs in the sixth inning and got helped along by Tyler Heineman's arm -- the catcher threw out two of three would-be base stealers while Hoffman was on the mound. Hoffman has recorded a win, hold or save in four straight appearances, posting a 0.00 ERA and 7:0 K:BB in four innings during that span as he attempts to turn his season around. Per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, Hoffman credits his recent success with increased slider usage to match the pitch mix he employed with the Phillies in 2023-24, his most dominant years as a reliever. He still carries a 4.81 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 24.1 innings on the year, however, and he's unlikely to regain the closer role as long as Louis Varland remains effective.
Kazuma Okamoto
Kazuma Okamoto Ends homer drought
Thu, May 28, 2026, 9:03 AM
Okamoto went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.
Analysis: The MLB rookie took Andrew Nardi deep in the sixth inning for what proved to be the decisive run in a 2-1 victory. It was Okamoto's first long ball since May 5, snapping an 18-game power drought in which he'd hit just .156 (10-for-64) with five RBI. On the season, Okamoto's slashing .218/.302/.416 with 11 homers and 29 RBI in 54 contests as he continues to adjust to North American pitching.
Kevin Gausman
Kevin Gausman Stingy in no-decision
Wed, May 27, 2026, 9:10 PM
Gausman didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Marlins, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: Miami tried to bolster its offense by running wild on the basepaths, and while the visitors went 3-for-3 on steal attempts while Gausman was on the mound, their final 5-for-9 showing on the afternoon had a hand in the narrow loss. The veteran right-hander was lifted after 95 pitches (56 strikes) and has allowed one run or fewer in three straight trips to the mound. He'll take a 3.13 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 66:12 K:BB through 69 innings on the season into his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Atlanta.
Set to join big club
Wed, May 27, 2026, 8:39 PM
The Blue Jays are expected to select McAdoo's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McAdoo has spent the entire season up to this point at Buffalo, slashing .250/.356/.436 with eight home runs, 27 RBI, 31 runs scored and six steals through 202 plate appearances. The 24-year-old primarily operates as a corner infielder but can also cover second base in a pinch, so he'll give Toronto infield depth while presumably serving as a bench piece. His first appearance with the Jays will mark his MLB debut.
Jose Berrios
Jose Berrios Shifts to 60-day IL
Wed, May 27, 2026, 12:28 PM
The Blue Jays transferred Berrios (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
Analysis: The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for Connor Seabold, who was acquired via trade with Detroit. Berrios is out for the rest of this season and a big chunk of 2027 after having Tommy John surgery last week.
Connor Seabold
Connor Seabold Traded to Blue Jays
Wed, May 27, 2026, 12:22 PM
The Blue Jays acquired Seabold from the Tigers on Wednesday in exchange for Juanmi Vasquez.
Analysis: Seabold had been designated for assignment by Detroit and is now headed to a new organization. He was with the Blue Jays during spring training but was a late roster cut before linking up with Detroit. The 30-year-old held a 3.45 ERA and 14:5 K:BB over 15.2 innings out of the Tigers' bullpen and will give the Blue Jays some additional length in their relief corps.
Austin Voth
Austin Voth Added to bullpen
Wed, May 27, 2026, 11:01 AM
The Blue Jays selected Voth's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Analysis: Voth will provide the bullpen with some protection after the Blue Jays used five pitchers in Tuesday's win over the Marlins. He's grabbed the roster spot vacated by Tanner Andrews.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Moves to 60-day IL
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:56 AM
The Blue Jays transferred Kirk (thumb) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
Analysis: Kirk has been on the shelf since April 4 while recovering from left thumb surgery and isn't expected to head out on a rehab assignment until next weekend at the soonest, so his placement on the 60-day IL won't affect his timeline to rejoin the Blue Jays. The transaction will clear up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Austin Voth, who had his contract selected Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.
Tanner Andrews
Tanner Andrews Optioned to Triple-A
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:55 AM
The Blue Jays optioned Andrews to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Analysis: Andrews logged a pair of scoreless appearances after getting his first big-league promotion earlier this week. The Blue Jays are replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm in Austin Voth.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Eyeing rehab games late next week
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:45 AM
Kirk (thumb) is aiming to start hitting off a pitching machine this weekend before beginning a rehab assignment by the start of the Blue Jays' June 5-14 homestand, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Kirk has been catching bullpen sessions and taking live batting practice at the club's spring training complex in Florida, and game action is just around the corner. Assuming he's able to kick off a rehab assignment at the start of the Blue Jays' next homestand, he should be activated by mid-June. Kirk has been shelved since early April after having surgery to repair a fractured left thumb.
Addison Barger
Addison Barger Likely to resume throwing Thursday
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:34 AM
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Wednesday that Barger (elbow) will resume throwing "probably [Thursday]," Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Barger's recovery from right elbow inflammation has come along more slowly than expected, but he's poised to take a big step forward Thursday. He's already missed more than two weeks and could require a rehab assignment before returning to the Blue Jays' active roster.
Brandon Valenzuela
Brandon Valenzuela Receiving rest Wednesday
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:17 AM
Valenzuela is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Analysis: Valenzuela will be rested for Wednesday's matinee affair after he went 2-for-4 with a run scored while catching all nine innings of the Blue Jays' 8-1 win Tuesday night. Tyler Heineman will replace Valenzuela behind the dish in the series finale.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Returning to Toronto lineup
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:16 AM
Guerrero (elbow) will start at first base and bat second in Wednesday's game versus the Marlins.
Analysis: Guerrero missed the last two contests with a right elbow contusion, but he's improved enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale. The slugger has had a rough May, as he will enter action Wednesday having slashed only .187/.312/.227 this month.
George Springer
George Springer Receiving breather Wednesday
Wed, May 27, 2026, 10:15 AM
Springer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Analysis: Toronto is concluding its three-game series against Miami with an afternoon game following a night game, so Springer will exit the starting nine in what looks to be a planned rest day. Jesus Sanchez will get a turn as Toronto's designated hitter in place of Springer, who had started each of the last nine games. After struggling mightily at the plate initially upon his return from the injured list April 30, Springer has rounded into form over those last nine starts, slashing .289/.357/.579 with three home runs, two stolen bases, six RBI and five runs.
