Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Falls to Baltimore
Sun, May 31, 2026, 3:38 PM
Miles (2-1) took the loss Sunday against the Orioles, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: Five of the runs charged to Miles came in the third inning, capped by a Colton Cowser three-run homer with two outs. It was the second start of the season for Miles -- the right-hander had found success as a bulk reliever prior to Sunday, allowing just one run in his previous 15.1 innings. Miles' ERA now sits at 3.47 with a 1.16 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB across 36.1 innings this season.
Jesus Sanchez
Jesus Sanchez Tending to bruised wrist
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:10 PM
The Blue Jays announced that Sanchez was removed in the bottom of the sixth inning of Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Orioles due to a right wrist contusion.
Analysis: Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a base hit before leaving the game midway through the bottom of the sixth, when he appeared to be hit by a ball thrown into the field of play by fan. Fortunately for Sanchez, precautionary X-rays came back negative, and he'll get an extra day to rest up and recover before the Blue Jays return to action Tuesday in Atlanta. Yohendrick Pinango replaced Sanchez in right field during Sunday's contest and would likely be the top choice to start Tuesday if Sanchez isn't ready to play.

Jesus Sanchez Struck by stray ball
Sun, May 31, 2026, 1:11 PM
Sanchez was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles after being struck in the wrist by a ball that appeared to be thrown by a fan in the stands, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sanchez appeared to be talking with someone in the right field seats during a sixth-inning mound visit and was subsequently struck by a ball in the area of his wrist, forcing him to leave the game. The specifics of the injury aren't clear, but more information should be available as he continues to be evaluated.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Losing out on playing time
Sun, May 31, 2026, 9:19 AM
Pinango is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: On the bench for the Blue Jays' third straight matchup with a right-handed pitcher, Pinango appears to have faded into a reserve role following Nathan Lukes' return from the injured list Monday. Though the rookie has held his own against big-league pitching thus far with a .277/.318/.398 slash line in 88 plate appearances, Pinango could soon be headed back to Triple-A Buffalo while Lukes, Jesus Sanchez and Daulton Varsho serve as Toronto's primary starters in the outfield. Pinango's path to playing time will only become more blocked once Addison Barger (elbow) eventually returns from the IL, likely at some point in early-to-mid June.
George Springer
George Springer Idle for day game
Sun, May 31, 2026, 9:15 AM
Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: With Sunday's contest beginning at 12:15 p.m. ET, Springer will be given a breather for the day game after he had served as Toronto's designated hitter each of the previous three nights. Vladimir Guerrero will replace Springer at DH in the finale.
Nathan Lukes
Nathan Lukes Occupying leadoff spot Sunday
Sun, May 31, 2026, 9:13 AM
Lukes will start in left field and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: Since being reinstated from the injured list Monday, Lukes has gone 7-for-16 with two doubles, two walks, two runs and one RBI. He'll draw his fifth start in seven games, but Lukes may need to continue his hot-hitting ways to ensure he maintains a regular role once Addison Barger (elbow) is ready to come back from the IL. For now, Lukes and Jesus Sanchez look like the Blue Jays' preferred starters in the corner outfield, but Barger's eventual return will create a logjam.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Four hits in Saturday's loss
Sat, May 30, 2026, 11:12 PM
Guerrero went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles.
Analysis: The star first baseman appeared to have led the Blue Jays to a win in Baltimore until Jeff Hoffman and the bullpen collapsed in the ninth inning and gave up a five-run, walk-off rally. Guerrero has gone 11 straight games without a homer, but despite the power outage he's batting .400 (14-for-35) over that stretch with two doubles, two steals, four RBI, eight runs and an 8:3 BB:K.
Jeff Hoffman
Jeff Hoffman Melts down in ninth
Sat, May 30, 2026, 11:08 PM
Hoffman (4-4) took the loss Saturday as the Blue Jays fell 6-5 to the Orioles, coughing up five runs on three hits and two walks in only one-third of an inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: After Louis Varland got the call in the eighth inning to face Baltimore's 2-3-4 hitters and protect a 4-1 lead, Toronto tacked on another run in the top of the ninth before handing the ball to Hoffman. Hoffman struck out Samuel Basallo to begin the frame but then unraveled after plunking Coby Mayo, with the final two runs on his ledger coming after he'd been replaced by Connor Seabold. After six straight scoreless appearances that included two wins, two saves and a hold, Hoffman seems no more trustworthy in high-leverage spots than he did when he was removed from the closer role in late April. Following Saturday's disaster, he sits with a 6.31 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB through 25.2 innings on the season.
Trey Yesavage
Trey Yesavage Can't find plate in no-decision
Sat, May 30, 2026, 11:00 PM
Yesavage didn't factor into the decision Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and seven walks over five innings as the Blue Jays were downed 6-5 by the Orioles. He struck out four.
Analysis: The seven free passes shattered Yesavage's previous career high of three in a start, but the 22-year-old right-hander limited the damage to a third-inning single by Gunnar Henderson and left the mound in line for his third win of the season, only for Jeff Hoffman and the bullpen to collapse in the ninth. Yesavage will take a 2.19 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 39:17 K:BB through 37 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Atlanta.
Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Starting Sunday vs. Baltimore
Sat, May 30, 2026, 7:36 PM
Miles will serve as the Blue Jays' starter for Sunday's series finale against the Orioles, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: With the Blue Jays' rotation hit by the injury bug, manager John Schneider has utilized Miles as a bulk reliever after an opener as of late. However, Miles will operate as Toronto's starter for Sunday's contest, his first start since May 10 against the Angels and second of the season. He sports a 2.16 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB across 33.1 innings this season and has yielded just one earned run over his last four outings (15.1 frames).
Dylan Cease
Dylan Cease Slated for 25-to-30 pitches in BP
Sat, May 30, 2026, 1:56 PM
Cease (hamstring) is throwing a bullpen session of 25-to-30 pitches Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Cease landed on the 15-day IL on Monday, so it's promising that he's already throwing a bullpen five days later. The hurler has been optimistic that he'll be able to return to the Blue Jays' rotation when first eligible, and a successful BP on Saturday would be a big step toward making that a reality. Depending on how the bullpen goes, Cease's next step could be either another BP or facing hitters, per Zwelling.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Hitting on field
Sat, May 30, 2026, 1:43 PM
Kirk (thumb) has been taking on-field batting practice and is expected to begin hitting off a high-velocity pitching machine in the coming days, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Kirk has been sidelined since April 4 and is currently on the 60-day IL. He's probably still at least a week away from beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, so the backstop doesn't seem likely to be activated until mid-June, at the earliest. Brandon Valenzuela and Tyler Heineman have been handling catching duties for the Blue Jays while Kirk has been out of action.
Addison Barger
Addison Barger Resumes swinging bat
Sat, May 30, 2026, 1:38 PM
Barger (elbow) has been hitting in the batting cage at Toronto's complex in Dunedin, Florida, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Zwelling describes Barger's hitting sessions as "flips, tee work, etc." The slugger has missed most of the season to this point, first due to an IL stay following an ankle injury and then due to his current elbow issue. While Barger seems to be making progress in his recovery from the latter injury, he may require a minor-league rehab assignment before he's ready to be activated.
Promoted to majors
Sat, May 30, 2026, 12:24 PM
The Blue Jays selected Juenger's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
Analysis: Juenger has pitched well for Buffalo this season, posting a 3.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB with three saves over 20 innings spanning 17 appearances (including two starts). He's taking the roster spot of Austin Voth, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Juenger hasn't tossed more than two innings in any outing this season, so he's likely slated for a role at the back of Toronto's bullpen.
Austin Voth
Austin Voth Removed from 40-man roster
Sat, May 30, 2026, 12:19 PM
Toronto designated Voth for assignment Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Voth was brought up to the big-league roster Wednesday and gave up five runs on five hits and four walks over 3.1 innings in bulk relief Friday. He's subsequently lost his place on the the 40-man roster in favor of Hayden Juenger, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday in a corresponding transaction.
Daulton Varsho
Daulton Varsho Two XBH in Friday's win
Sat, May 30, 2026, 10:10 AM
Varsho went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and a run scored in Friday's win over the Orioles.
Analysis: Both extra-base hits came off southpaw Trevor Rogers, as Varsho stays dialed in at the plate. It was the center fielder's fifth multi-hit performance in his last 13 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .327/.411/.510 with zero homers but five doubles, two triples, one steal, three RBI and seven runs.
Austin Voth
Austin Voth Struggles in bulk-relief role
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:13 PM
Voth allowed five runs on five hits and four walks without striking out a batter across 3.1 innings during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: Adam Macko served as the Blue Jays' opener for Friday's game, with Voth coming in to secure the final out of the second inning. However, Voth struggled over his next three frames, yielding two runs in the third before allowing solo home runs to Jackson Holliday, Pete Alonso and Samuel Basallo across the fourth and fifth innings. Luckily for Voth, he escaped with the no-decision after the Blue Jays scored six runs over the seventh and eighth frames. It was just the second major-league outing of the season for Voth, but he's given up six runs on eight hits, five walks and three wild pitches with just one strikeout across six innings.
Braydon Fisher
Braydon Fisher Collects first major-league save
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:09 PM
Fisher earned the save during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday, when he tossed a scoreless ninth inning without giving up a hit or walk.
Analysis: Louis Varland and Jeff Hoffman were both deployed from the Blue Jays' bullpen in each of the team's two games prior to Friday, so manager John Schneider turned to Fisher to protect Toronto's one-run lead. Fisher got the first two batters out before Gunnar Henderson reached base safely on an error from Ernie Clement, but Fisher secured the first save of his major-league career after getting Adley Rutschman to ground out. Fisher has not allowed a run over his last eight innings and sits at a 2.48 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, six holds and a 33:12 K:BB across 32.2 frames this season.
Kazuma Okamoto
Kazuma Okamoto Goes deep against Baltimore
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:04 PM
Okamoto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: The Blue Jays couldn't figure out Trevor Rogers through the first six innings of Friday's game, but Okamoto propelled Toronto's comeback with a two-run homer off the veteran southpaw in the seventh inning. Okamoto has gone deep in two of his last three games and is up to 12 home runs on the season, which leads the Blue Jays and is 13th most in the American League.
Homers in major-league debut
Fri, May 29, 2026, 8:57 PM
McAdoo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: One day after being called up from Triple-A Buffalo, McAdoo was in a major-league starting lineup for the first time in his career, as he manned second base while batting sixth in Friday's AL East contest. He struck out in his first plate appearance before fouling out in the fifth, but McAdoo made his mark in the seventh inning with a two-run homer off Trevor Rogers to reduce Toronto's deficit to 5-4. Even though he started at second base, McAdoo has played mostly first and third during his minor-league career, so his presence gives the Blue Jays a valuable utility man while Lenyn Sosa (wrist) and Addison Barger (elbow) are on the IL.
