Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Starting Sunday vs. Baltimore
Sat, May 30, 2026, 7:36 PM
Miles will serve as the Blue Jays' starter for Sunday's series finale against the Orioles, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: With the Blue Jays' rotation hit by the injury bug, manager John Schneider has utilized Miles as a bulk reliever after an opener as of late. However, Miles will operate as Toronto's starter for Sunday's contest, his first start since May 10 against the Angels and second of the season. He sports a 2.16 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB across 33.1 innings this season and has yielded just one earned run over his last four outings (15.1 frames).
Dylan Cease
Dylan Cease Slated for 25-to-30 pitches in BP
Sat, May 30, 2026, 1:56 PM
Cease (hamstring) is throwing a bullpen session of 25-to-30 pitches Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Cease landed on the 15-day IL on Monday, so it's promising that he's already throwing a bullpen five days later. The hurler has been optimistic that he'll be able to return to the Blue Jays' rotation when first eligible, and a successful BP on Saturday would be a big step toward making that a reality. Depending on how the bullpen goes, Cease's next step could be either another BP or facing hitters, per Zwelling.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Hitting on field
Sat, May 30, 2026, 1:43 PM
Kirk (thumb) has been taking on-field batting practice and is expected to begin hitting off a high-velocity pitching machine in the coming days, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Kirk has been sidelined since April 4 and is currently on the 60-day IL. He's probably still at least a week away from beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, so the backstop doesn't seem likely to be activated until mid-June, at the earliest. Brandon Valenzuela and Tyler Heineman have been handling catching duties for the Blue Jays while Kirk has been out of action.
Addison Barger
Addison Barger Resumes swinging bat
Sat, May 30, 2026, 1:38 PM
Barger (elbow) has been hitting in the batting cage at Toronto's complex in Dunedin, Florida, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Zwelling describes Barger's hitting sessions as "flips, tee work, etc." The slugger has missed most of the season to this point, first due to an IL stay following an ankle injury and then due to his current elbow issue. While Barger seems to be making progress in his recovery from the latter injury, he may require a minor-league rehab assignment before he's ready to be activated.
Promoted to majors
Sat, May 30, 2026, 12:24 PM
The Blue Jays selected Juenger's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
Analysis: Juenger has pitched well for Buffalo this season, posting a 3.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 23:8 K:BB with three saves over 20 innings spanning 17 appearances (including two starts). He's taking the roster spot of Austin Voth, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Juenger hasn't tossed more than two innings in any outing this season, so he's likely slated for a role at the back of Toronto's bullpen.
Austin Voth
Austin Voth Removed from 40-man roster
Sat, May 30, 2026, 12:19 PM
Toronto designated Voth for assignment Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Voth was brought up to the big-league roster Wednesday and gave up five runs on five hits and four walks over 3.1 innings in bulk relief Friday. He's subsequently lost his place on the the 40-man roster in favor of Hayden Juenger, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday in a corresponding transaction.
Daulton Varsho
Daulton Varsho Two XBH in Friday's win
Sat, May 30, 2026, 10:10 AM
Varsho went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and a run scored in Friday's win over the Orioles.
Analysis: Both extra-base hits came off southpaw Trevor Rogers, as Varsho stays dialed in at the plate. It was the center fielder's fifth multi-hit performance in his last 13 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .327/.411/.510 with zero homers but five doubles, two triples, one steal, three RBI and seven runs.
Austin Voth
Austin Voth Struggles in bulk-relief role
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:13 PM
Voth allowed five runs on five hits and four walks without striking out a batter across 3.1 innings during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: Adam Macko served as the Blue Jays' opener for Friday's game, with Voth coming in to secure the final out of the second inning. However, Voth struggled over his next three frames, yielding two runs in the third before allowing solo home runs to Jackson Holliday, Pete Alonso and Samuel Basallo across the fourth and fifth innings. Luckily for Voth, he escaped with the no-decision after the Blue Jays scored six runs over the seventh and eighth frames. It was just the second major-league outing of the season for Voth, but he's given up six runs on eight hits, five walks and three wild pitches with just one strikeout across six innings.
Braydon Fisher
Braydon Fisher Collects first major-league save
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:09 PM
Fisher earned the save during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday, when he tossed a scoreless ninth inning without giving up a hit or walk.
Analysis: Louis Varland and Jeff Hoffman were both deployed from the Blue Jays' bullpen in each of the team's two games prior to Friday, so manager John Schneider turned to Fisher to protect Toronto's one-run lead. Fisher got the first two batters out before Gunnar Henderson reached base safely on an error from Ernie Clement, but Fisher secured the first save of his major-league career after getting Adley Rutschman to ground out. Fisher has not allowed a run over his last eight innings and sits at a 2.48 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, six holds and a 33:12 K:BB across 32.2 frames this season.
Kazuma Okamoto
Kazuma Okamoto Goes deep against Baltimore
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:04 PM
Okamoto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: The Blue Jays couldn't figure out Trevor Rogers through the first six innings of Friday's game, but Okamoto propelled Toronto's comeback with a two-run homer off the veteran southpaw in the seventh inning. Okamoto has gone deep in two of his last three games and is up to 12 home runs on the season, which leads the Blue Jays and is 13th most in the American League.
Homers in major-league debut
Fri, May 29, 2026, 8:57 PM
McAdoo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: One day after being called up from Triple-A Buffalo, McAdoo was in a major-league starting lineup for the first time in his career, as he manned second base while batting sixth in Friday's AL East contest. He struck out in his first plate appearance before fouling out in the fifth, but McAdoo made his mark in the seventh inning with a two-run homer off Trevor Rogers to reduce Toronto's deficit to 5-4. Even though he started at second base, McAdoo has played mostly first and third during his minor-league career, so his presence gives the Blue Jays a valuable utility man while Lenyn Sosa (wrist) and Addison Barger (elbow) are on the IL.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Clutch two-run double
Fri, May 29, 2026, 8:50 PM
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and a run scored during the Blue Jays' 6-5 win over the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: Guerrero gave the Blue Jays the lead for good in the eighth inning, when his double off Yennier Cano brought both George Springer and Ernie Clement home. Guerrero has logged two hits in three of his last five games and has reached base safely in each of his last 11 appearances. Over that span, he has gone 12-for-34 (.353) with two steals, one home run, five RBI and eight runs scored while drawing eight walks.
Making major-league debut
Fri, May 29, 2026, 2:59 PM
McAdoo will start at second base and bat sixth against the Orioles on Friday.
Analysis: After being promoted to Toronto on Thursday, McAdoo will make his MLB debut against left-hander Trevor Rogers on Friday. McAdoo will start at second base over Ernie Clement, who will shift to shortstop and give Andres Gimenez a breather.
Adam Macko
Adam Macko Serving as Friday's opener
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:35 AM
Macko will serve as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher in Friday's contest in Baltimore, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Macko hasn't gone more than 1.1 innings or thrown more than 20 pitches in six relief outings this season, so his appearance Friday will be brief. Former Oriole Austin Voth is a top candidate to work behind in Macko in a bulk-relief role, though Toronto hasn't confirmed its pitching plans once Macko exits the contest.
Ricky Tiedemann
Ricky Tiedemann Close to facing hitters
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:30 AM
Tiedemann (elbow) continues to throw bullpen sessions at the Blue Jays' spring training complex and is close to throwing a live batting practice session, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Tiedemann will face hitters 2-4 times before being cleared to pitch in games if all goes well. The left-hander missed all of 2025 after Tommy John surgery and was shut down during spring training due to further elbow soreness. Tiedemann is unlikely to become an option for the Blue Jays before the second half.
Dylan Cease
Dylan Cease Set for bullpen session
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:26 AM
Cease (hamstring) is expected to throw a bullpen session this weekend, Ian Quillen of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jays kicked off a four-game set in Baltimore on Thursday, and manager John Schneider indicated before it began that he was optimistic Cease would be able to get on a mound during the trip. A minimum-length stay on the IL is still possible for Cease, who suffered a mild hamstring strain May 24. Over his first 11 starts for Toronto, he's produced a 3.05 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 92:26 K:BB in 62 innings.
Jake Bloss
Jake Bloss Impressing during rehab stint
Fri, May 29, 2026, 9:20 AM
Bloss is showing improved stuff during his rehab assignment as he completes his recovery from Tommy John surgery, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old right-hander underwent the surgery last May, and over three rehab appearances between the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate and Single-A Dunedin, Bloss has produced a 12:0 K:BB over 8.2 innings. In his most recent start for Dunedin on May 24, Bloss built up to 50 pitches and was comfortably sitting 95-96 mph with his fastball, a big step up from the 93.4 mph he averaged with the pitch in 2024. He's scheduled to make at least one more rehab start, but he could be an option for the big-league rotation in early June as Toronto deals with injuries to Dylan Cease (hamstring), Max Scherzer (forearm), Shane Bieber (elbow) and other starting pitchers.
Jeff Hoffman
Jeff Hoffman Earns another win
Fri, May 29, 2026, 8:21 AM
Hoffman (4-3) earned the win Thursday against the Orioles after tossing a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Analysis: Hoffman allowed a two-out single to Jackson Holliday, who then stole second base, but he ended the threat by striking out Blaze Alexander. Hoffman has two wins, two saves and a hold over his last five appearances, allowing zero runs and posting a 9:0 K:BB across five innings, and the right-hander owns a 2.84 ERA across 12.2 innings (13 appearances) since the beginning of May. That's a step in the right direction compared to the 6.39 ERA he posted over March and April.
Patrick Corbin
Patrick Corbin Goes five innings in no-decision
Fri, May 29, 2026, 8:14 AM
Corbin didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Orioles, allowing one run on four hits and a walk across five innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Corbin wasn't able to repeat his strong showing from May 23 against the Pirates, when he fanned seven over six innings of one-run ball. However, he continues to limit the damage and has been a reliable option on the mound. Since an April 10 debut for the Blue Jays in which he allowed four runs on four innings against the Twins, Corbin owns a 3.18 ERA in his last nine starts and 45.1 innings, posting a 33:13 K:BB and allowing more than two earned runs just twice over that stretch. However, things will get tougher for him in his next start, as he's scheduled to pitch on the road against Atlanta next week.
Andres Gimenez
Andres Gimenez Belts solo homer
Fri, May 29, 2026, 8:10 AM
Gimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout in Thursday's win over the Orioles.
Analysis: Gimenez went deep in the top of the third inning and now has six homers on the year. This was the first time he'd left the yard since a two-HR performance against the Rays on May 11. He's hitting just .165 with a .512 OPS in 25 games since the beginning of the month.
