Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Moving rehab to Triple-A
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 7:05 PM
Scherzer (back) will make his next rehab start at Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic.
Analysis: Scherzer tossed 49 pitches at High-A Vancouver on Friday, and he evidently got through the outing without issue. He'll presumably need at least one or two additional rehab starts before the team considers activating him from the 15-day injured list.
Braydon Fisher
Braydon Fisher Placed on bereavement list
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 6:46 PM
The Blue Jays placed Fisher (personal) on the bereavement list Monday.
Analysis: Fisher will be away from the team while tending to a personal matter, with the move corresponding with the Blue Jays reinstating George Springer (personal) from the family emergency medical list. Fisher has a 3.33 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, eight holds, one save and a 46:21 K:BB across 46 innings this season.
George Springer
George Springer Activated but not in lineup
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 6:43 PM
The Blue Jays reinstated Springer (personal) from the family emergency medical list Monday.
Analysis: Springer is now eligible to return to the lineup for Toronto, but that will have to wait for at least one more day while Sean Keys serves as the designated hitter and bats fifth in Monday's series opener. Springer had gone 16-for-61 (.262) with three steals, two home runs, five RBI and a triple in his 15 games prior to his absence. The move corresponds with the Blue Jays placing Braydon Fisher on the bereavement list.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Out of Monday's lineup
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 5:44 PM
Pinango is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.
Analysis: Even with right-hander Landen Roupp taking the mound for the Giants, the lefty-hitting Pinango will be on the bench for Monday's series opener while Myles Straw starts in left field and bats eighth. Since returning to the majors June 27, Pinango has gone 4-for-23 (.174) with one home run, two RBI and seven strikeouts.
George Springer
George Springer Not in Monday's lineup
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 5:42 PM
Springer (personal) is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Giants on Monday.
Analysis: Springer was moved from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Saturday and is expected to join the Blue Jays for their series in San Francisco, but he will not be in the lineup for the series opener. Sean Keys will serve as Toronto's designated hitter and bat fifth.
Trey Yesavage
Trey Yesavage Charged with fourth loss
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:08 PM
Yesavage (4-4) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks over six innings against Seattle. He struck out seven.
Analysis: Yesavage churned out a quality start, though a no-show from the Toronto offense saddled him with the loss. After not allowing a homer in any of his first seven starts this season, the right-hander has surrendered seven long balls across his past six starts, including a two-run shot to Mitch Garver in the fourth inning Sunday. Yesavage will take a 3.31 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 68:32 K:BB across 73.1 innings (13 starts) into his final outing before the All-Star break, tentatively scheduled for Saturday at San Diego.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Drawing fifth straight start
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 3:49 PM
Keys will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Keys will collect his fifth start in a row after going 3-for-15 with a home run, a double and three RBI over the previous four contests. His run as an everyday player could end soon, however. The Blue Jays could get George Springer (personal) back from the family medical emergency list as soon as Monday, and Keys is likely to fade into a bench role or return to Triple-A Buffalo at that point.
Andres Gimenez
Andres Gimenez Receiving Sunday off
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 3:44 PM
Gimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Gimenez will be riding pine for the series finale in Seattle after he had started in Toronto's last four games. Ernie Clement will step in for Gimenez at shortstop and will bat sixth.
Shane Bieber
Shane Bieber Touched up in loss
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 8:39 PM
Bieber (0-1) took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts over four innings.
Analysis: Bieber was mostly undone by the long ball, allowing a grand slam in the second inning and a two-run shot in the fifth. He still wasn't particularly efficient otherwise, throwing just 53 of 89 pitches for strikes despite generating a solid 11 whiffs. The 31-year-old has surrendered 13 earned runs across 13 innings while posting a 9:7 K:BB over three starts since making his season debut June 23. He'll face the Padres on the road in his final outing before the All-Star break.
George Springer
George Springer Moved to Family Emergency List
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 1:55 PM
The Blue Jays are placing Springer on the Family Medical Emergency List on Saturday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: Springer's time on the paternity list was set to expire Saturday, but the move ensures that he can still be away from the team, and he is expected to rejoin the Blue Jays in San Francisco next week. Vladimir Guerrero and Sean Keys will both continue to handle DH duties for as long as Springer is sidelined.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Idle Saturday
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 12:44 PM
Kirk is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Mariners on Saturday.
Analysis: Kirk will get a breather while Brandon Valenzuela starts behind home plate and bats eighth. Since returning from the injured list June 12, Kirk has gone 11-for-50 (.220) with one home run and five RBI.
Jeff Hoffman
Jeff Hoffman Collects ninth hold
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 8:55 AM
Hoffman walked one and struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning Friday to record his ninth hold of the season in a win over the Mariners.
Analysis: The right-hander kept a combined shutout going after Dylan Cease delivered seven scoreless frames, before Hoffman handed the ball off to Louis Varland in the ninth. Hoffman hasn't allowed an earned run since June 6, and over 11 appearances since then he's produced a 0.79 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB in 11.1 innings while picking up one win and two holds.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Builds up to 49 pitches Friday
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 8:52 AM
Scherzer (back) threw three innings for High-A Vancouver on Friday, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three.
Analysis: In his first game action since June 10, Scherzer built up to 49 pitches (33 strikes) and reportedly felt good afterward, per Doug Miller of MLB.com. The 41-year-old righty has dealt with a litany of injuries this season, most recently back spasms, and he's expected to need at least two more rehab starts before he'll be an option again for the Toronto rotation. Over six big-league outings and 22 innings this season, Scherzer has produced an ugly 10.23 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB as he tries to prove he still has something left to offer on the mound.
Ricky Tiedemann
Ricky Tiedemann Given injections for neck
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 11:28 AM
Tiedemann (elbow) will be given injections for his injured neck, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Nagging neck problems have prevented Tiedemann from making any rehab starts over the past two weeks. He had previously made a pair of one-inning rehab appearances with the Blue Jays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. Tiedemann initially landed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Buffalo as he continues to work his way back from left elbow surgery. It's unclear when he might be ready to pitch again.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Belts first career homer
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 9:57 AM
Keys went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Mets.
Analysis: Getting the start at DH and batting eighth, Keys gave Toronto a 5-0 lead in the third inning on Canada Day when he took Freddy Peralta deep. It was Keys' first career homer in his third MLB game, but just his second hit in 12 at-bats against five strikeouts. The 23-year-old has a path to sticking around on the big-league roster longer than expected with Addison Barger (back/elbow) struggling to get healthy and not expected back until well after the All-Star break, but Keys will need to make more consistent contact to take advantage of the opportunity.
Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Credited with win Wednesday
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 9:53 AM
Miles (4-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 9-3 rout of the Mets, allowing one hit and one walk over three scoreless relief innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: Taking over after opener Braydon Fisher had worked a scoreless first frame, Miles fired 34 of 46 pitches for strikes in a dominant performance while the Blue Jays built a 5-0 lead before he left the mound. Miles has been an outstanding find as a Rule 5 pick, and over 54 innings and 24 appearances (two starts) he's produced a 2.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB. Toronto is being very careful with his workload given his checkered injury history in the minors, but Miles has put himself firmly in the team's 2027 rotation plans.
Patrick Corbin
Patrick Corbin Nabs first save as long reliever
Wed, Jul 1, 2026, 9:17 PM
Corbin secured the save Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The save was the first of the season for Corbin, who was operating as a bulk reliever for the first time this year. The 36-year-old southpaw struggled mightily as a starter last month, posting an 8.69 ERA over 19.2 innings in June, so it would make sense for Toronto to continue using Corbin out of the bullpen after he fared at least somewhat better in that role Wednesday. Through 74 innings, Corbin has a 5.11 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Settling in as primary left fielder
Wed, Jul 1, 2026, 1:05 PM
Pinango will start in left field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Toronto will include Pinango in the starting nine for a fifth straight game after he went 2-for-12 with a home run and two RBI in his first four contests following his call-up from Triple-A Buffalo over the weekend. The 24-year-old looks like he'll have the opportunity to play regularly in left field while Jesus Sanchez (ankle) is on the injured list.
Jonatan Clase
Jonatan Clase Draws first call-up of 2026
Wed, Jul 1, 2026, 1:02 PM
The Blue Jays recalled Clase from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Analysis: Clase received his first call-up of the season after the Blue Jays had a need for an extra bat while George Springer (personal) is on the paternity leave list. Springer is expected to be away from the team for just 1-to-3 days, so Clase's stay with the big club will likely be a brief one. The switch-hitting outfielder has produced a .223./321/.359 slash line with five home runs and 17 steals over 53 games at Triple-A this season.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Making rehab start Friday
Wed, Jul 1, 2026, 11:35 AM
Scherzer (back/side) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Vancouver on Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Scherzer will rejoin the Blue Jays in Seattle on Saturday following the outing and throw a bullpen session Sunday before the team determines his next step. The 41-year-old is expected to require multiple rehab starts, so he will not rejoin the Toronto rotation before the All-Star break. Scherzer has been out since mid-June with back spasms and also needed a cortisone injection for soreness in his left side. He has a 10.23 ERA in six starts for the Blue Jays in 2026.
