Adam Macko
Adam Macko Optioned to Buffalo
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 11:27 AM
The Blue Jays optioned Macko to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
Analysis: Over his last four appearances out of the bullpen, Macko has been roughed up to say the least. The 25-year-old allowed nine earned runs over five innings, while previously recording three scoreless outings since being recalled to the big-league club on June 26. Toronto recalled Lazaro Estrada to take Macko's spot on the active roster for the time being.
CJ Van Eyk
CJ Van Eyk Demoted to Buffalo
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 11:21 AM
Toronto optioned Van Eyk to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
Analysis: After making just one appearance on Friday since being called up on June 12 by the big-league club, Van Eyk will make his way back to Triple-A. The 27-year-old recorded a solid two innings of work, allowing just one hit and one hit batsman, while striking out one batter as well. Toronto recalled Brendon Little to take Van Eyk's spot on the active roster.
Brendon Little
Brendon Little Recalled to Toronto
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 11:18 AM
The Blue Jays recalled Little from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
Analysis: After appearing in 79 games for the big-league club last season, Little has appeared in just 6 games with Toronto in 2026 as he makes his way back up to the major leagues. With Triple-A Buffalo, the 29-year-old posted a 7-1 record alongside a 2.53 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 46:25 K:BB through 32 innings. The Blue Jays optioned CJ Van Eyk to make room for Little on the active roster.
Lazaro Estrada
Lazaro Estrada Back with Toronto
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 11:13 AM
The Blue Jays recalled Estrada from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Estrada will make his way back to Toronto after making just one appearance with the big-league club, after being reinstated from the injured list June 20. With Buffalo, the 27-year-old appeared in eight games, registering a 3.00 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB in 18 innings. The Blue Jays optioned Adam Macko after a rough stretch out of the bullpen to make room for Estrada on the active roster.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Still not getting results
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 8:22 AM
Guerrero went 1-for-4 in Friday's loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: Per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, Guerrero put three balls in play with exit velocities north of 105 mph, but he had just one single to show for it. The six-time All-Star has been teasing a turnaround in recent weeks, but through 11 games in July he sports a tepid .220/.333/.415 slash line with two doubles, two homers, six runs and seven RBI, and incredibly he's still looking for his first home run of 2026 at Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays' home park.
Brandon Valenzuela
Brandon Valenzuela Smacks homer Friday
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:37 PM
Valenzuela went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 12-4 loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: Valenzuela cut the Blue Jays' deficit to 8-4 with a solo home run in the sixth, his eighth long ball of the season. George Springer started in left field Friday, so Valenzuela could see an uptick in plate appearances in the second half of the regular season if he sees more time as the designated hitter or as the catcher in games where Alejandro Kirk serves as the DH instead.
Luis Urias
Luis Urias Smacks second homer of 2026
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:31 PM
Urias went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Friday's 12-4 loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: The Blue Jays' offense couldn't match the White Sox in Friday's series opener, but Urias contributed offensively with a solo homer to left field in the fourth inning. It was the second long ball of the season for Urias, with his first taking place in his 2026 debut against the Astros on June 23. He'll continue to operate in a depth role in the infield, and his stint on the 26-man roster could be extended given that Lenyn Sosa (wrist) suffered a recent setback in his rehab program.
George Springer
George Springer Goes deep against South Siders
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:28 PM
Springer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI during the Blue Jays' 12-4 loss to the White Sox on Friday.
Analysis: Springer put the Blue Jays on the board in the third inning on a fielder's choice that scored a run before taking Trevor Richards deep to left field for a solo homer. It was the 10th home run of the season for Springer, who started in left field for his first time in the field this season. That positional versatility should open more opportunities at DH for the likes of Alejandro Kirk, Brandon Valenzuela, Vladimir Guerrero and Sean Keys.
Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Knocked around for six runs
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:24 PM
Miles (4-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Friday, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out four across four innings. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: Miles got into early trouble, yielding five runs in the second inning that was capped off by a two-run homer by Sam Antonacci. Miles was tagged for one more run on a bases-clearing double in the fifth, and his five earned runs tied a season high he set against the Orioles on May 31. He figures to have at least one more turn in the rotation, with his next start tentatively slated for next week at home against the Rays. However, that could be Miles' last start if Max Scherzer (back) is cleared to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list.
Lenyn Sosa
Lenyn Sosa Setback in rehab
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 4:13 PM
Sosa (wrist) resumed hitting in batting cages earlier this week after experiencing a setback in his rehab program, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Sosa was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment in late June, but he was pulled from playing after his right wrist injury flared up. He's been cleared to resume baseball activities, but he'll likely need to go on another assignment before being cleared to return to the majors. Prior to his injury, Sosa posted a .490 OPS with one home run and nine RBI across 117 major-league plate appearances.
Addison Barger
Addison Barger Still not doing baseball activities
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 4:00 PM
Barger (back/elbow) remains shut down from baseball activities, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: While Barger hopes to play again this season, an August return would be a best-case scenario, according to manager John Schneider. Barger hasn't played since May 9 due to right elbow inflammation and a stress reaction in his back. It's been a lost season for the 26-year-old, as he's managed to appear in just nine games to this point in 2026.
Anthony Santander
Anthony Santander Still battling shoulder discomfort
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:53 PM
Santander is still dealing with discomfort in his surgically-repaired left shoulder and recently got another cortisone shot, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Santander underwent surgery to repair his labrum back in February and has yet to resume swinging the bat. It's becoming increasingly unlikely that he plays this season. Signed to a five-year, $92.5 million deal following the 2024 season, Santander's tenure in Toronto has been a nightmare after he slashed just .175/.271/.294 across 54 games last regular season.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Has rehab assignment paused
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:43 PM
Scherzer's (back) rehab assignment has been paused after he received three cortisone injections in his right thumb Monday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Scherzer was originally placed on the injured list last month due to back spasms, so he must have re-injured his thumb in his rehab start last Wednesday. The veteran right-hander has dealt with a laundry list of injuries this season, limiting him to six starts. Scherzer has posted a 10.23 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB across 22 innings when healthy enough to pitch.
Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Set to make next start Friday
Thu, Jul 16, 2026, 10:14 AM
Miles will take the mound for the Blue Jays in the team's first game after the All-Star break, at home Friday versus the White Sox, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The rookie right-hander will be followed in the rotation by Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Dylan Cease and Kevin Gausman. Miles has been impressive this season, especially considering his status as a Rule 5 pick, and over his first 60 big-league innings across 26 appearances (three starts) he's produced a 2.85 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB. He hasn't tossed more than 55 pitches in an outing since June 6, however, so his workload could be limited Friday. Miles may head back to the bullpen immediately after this start, depending on the progress of Max Scherzer (back).
Shelved at Triple-A
Tue, Jul 14, 2026, 9:54 AM
Triple-A Buffalo placed Schreck on its 7-day injured list June 7 due to an unspecified injury.
Analysis: Though the details regarding Schreck's injury remain unknown, Zach Worden of Sportsnet relays the outfielder appeared to suffer the injury on an awkward slide in Buffalo's June 3 game against Worcester. The 26-year-old has produced a .230/.380/.399 slash line with seven home runs and four stolen bases across 229 plate appearances this season.
Returns from 7-day IL
Tue, Jul 14, 2026, 9:50 AM
Nimmala (hamstring) went 3-for-11 with two home runs, three walks, five runs and four RBI in four games for Double-A New Hampshire after being activated from the 7-day injured list July 7.
Analysis: Nimmala spent five weeks on the shelf while recovering from a hamstring strain before getting the green light to rejoin New Hampshire following a six-game rehab stint between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Dunedin. The shortstop prospect has maintained a .303/.398/.434 slash line to go with two home runs and three steals in 22 games for New Hampshire since being promoted from High-A Vancouver on May 3.
Spencer Miles
Spencer Miles Back in bullpen
Tue, Jul 14, 2026, 9:46 AM
Miles struck out a batter and allowed one hit and two walks over two scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Padres.
Analysis: Miles made a four-inning start in his prior appearance July 7 in San Francisco, but he shifted back to the bullpen for the Blue Jays' final series of the first half while the team didn't have a need for a fifth starter. The fifth spot in the rotation will come up again July 21 versus Tampa Bay, but Max Scherzer (back) could be ready to return from the injured list by then to fill the void.
Jesus Sanchez
Jesus Sanchez Closing in on rehab assignment
Tue, Jul 14, 2026, 9:27 AM
The Blue Jays announced July 6 that Sanchez (ankle) has been running and hitting at the club's complex in Florida, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sanchez hasn't yet been cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League during the All-Star break, but he could travel north following the break to receive a reassessment from Blue Jays doctors before reporting to a higher-level affiliate for game action. After Sanchez was placed on the shelf June 27 due to a right ankle sprain, the Blue Jays initially turned to Yohendrick Pinango as their primary left fielder, but Jonatan Clase has since supplanted Pinango as Sanchez's main replacement in the corner outfield.
Yimi Garcia
Yimi Garcia Gets back on mound
Tue, Jul 14, 2026, 9:22 AM
Garcia (elbow/neck/biceps) was cleared to throw a bullpen session late last week, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Garcia has taken the next step forward in his throwing progression and looks like he could be ready to resume facing hitters shortly after the All-Star break. The veteran righty opened the season on the injured list while completing his recovery from surgery last September to remove scar tissue around his right elbow, and he's since been pulled off rehab assignments on two occasions due to elbow soreness and nerve symptoms related to his biceps and neck. Once he's cleared to head back out on a rehab assignment, Garcia will likely require several appearances before the Blue Jays bring him back from the shelf.
Ernie Clement
Ernie Clement Blasts eighth homer
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 2:06 AM
Clement went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-4 loss to San Diego.
Analysis: Clement cashed in on a hanging slider from German Marquez, sending it over the left-field wall for a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The second baseman is riding a seven-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with two extra-base hits, three RBI, four runs and a stolen base. Overall, Clement is slashing .296/.318/.433 with eight homers, 32 RBI, 42 runs and three stolen bases across 93 contests. He's slated to start at the keystone for the American League in Tuesday's All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
