Acquired by Blue Jays
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:33 PM
The Blue Jays acquired Samudio and cash considerations from the Royals on Monday in exchange for Connor Seabold.
Analysis: Samudio is a 21-year-old who has pitched just four games above rookie ball. He has posted 4.12 ERA and 22:10 K:BB over 19.2 frames between the ACL Royals and Single-A Columbia this season.
Davis Schneider
Davis Schneider Goes yard Sunday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:47 PM
Schneider went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.
Analysis: Getting the start at second base and batting eighth after Andres Gimenez (wrist) was a late scratch, Schneider took advantage of the opportunity by taking Jake Bird deep in the sixth inning to tie the game at 3-3, before the Blue Jays bullpen melted down in the ninth. The hits were his first in two games since rejoining the big-league roster, while the homer was just his second of the season in 40 MLB contests. If Gimenez ends up missing more time, Schneider could be in line for more than a short-side platoon role, as Ernie Clement would slide over from second base to cover shortstop.
Nathan Lukes
Nathan Lukes Three hits in Sunday's loss
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:44 PM
Lukes went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.
Analysis: Batting second and getting the start in center field before shifting to right when Myles Straw entered the game in the seventh inning, Lukes put together another strong performance. The 31-year-old has hit safely in 16 of 18 games since coming off the IL in late May, slashing .358/.419/.448 in 75 plate appearances over that stretch with three doubles, a homer, five RBI and nine runs.
Yimi Garcia
Yimi Garcia Recovery time still an issue
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:37 PM
Garcia (elbow) has yet to pitch on back-to-back days during his rehab assignment, or even twice in three days, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The right-hander did show improved velocity during his most recent appearance for Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, but as yet he hasn't been able to bounce back quickly after an outing as he completes his recovery from surgery late last season to remove scar tissue from his elbow. That could delay Garcia's 2026 debut if the Blue Jays want to make sure he can handle a more regular usage pattern before adding him to an already overworked bullpen. Over his last four rehab appearances between Single-A Dunedin and Buffalo, Garcia has a 4.91 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 3.2 innings with a 4:3 K:BB.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Expected back Tuesday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:29 PM
Guerrero (back) was available to pinch hit Sunday and will likely rejoin the starting lineup Tuesday against the Red Sox, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The first baseman was getting ready to hit in the ninth inning when the game was close, but he was kept on the bench after the Yankees erupted for five runs in the top of the frame. Guerrero will benefit from Monday's off day after sitting out the last two contests with lower-back tightness. He's batting just .184 (7-for-38) to begin June, with his homer drought standing at 22 games.
Patrick Corbin
Patrick Corbin Another early exit Sunday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 4:18 PM
Corbin did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three across 3.2 innings.
Analysis: Corbin has totaled just 6.2 innings in his last two starts, allowing seven runs on 11 hits in that span. The veteran left-hander's ERA now sits at 4.57 through 13 starts (61 innings) this season with a 1.48 WHIP and 43:20 K:BB. Corbin will likely get one more start, tentatively scheduled to come next week on the road against the Cubs, before Shane Bieber (elbow) is ready to return to the rotation.
Yohendrick Pinango
Yohendrick Pinango Playing time on upswing
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 1:05 PM
Pinango will start in right field and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: With Daulton Varsho (wrist) recently joining Addison Barger (elbow) on the injured list, Pinango looks like he'll have a clearer path to regular playing time out of the Toronto outfield in the short term. He'll be making his sixth start in seven games Sunday after going 6-for-18 with a home run, two doubles, three walks and two RBI over the previous six contests.
Brandon Valenzuela
Brandon Valenzuela Losing time with Kirk back
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 1:03 PM
Valenzuela is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: Since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo on April 4, Valenzuela has been a pleasant surprise for the Blue Jays this season, producing a .792 OPS over 149 plate appearances in addition to providing quality defense behind the dish. He's nonetheless expected to be headed for a reduction in playing time moving forward, as the recent return of Alejandro Kirk from the 60-day injured list has bumped Valenzuela down a spot on the depth chart. Valenzuela will sit for the second time in the series while Kirk gets the starting nod behind the dish.
Andres Gimenez
Andres Gimenez Scratched with sore wrist
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:32 AM
Gimenez was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees due to left wrist soreness.
Analysis: It's unclear how or when Gimenez sustained the injury, but he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale after initially being penciled in to start. Ernie Clement will shift over to shortstop while Davis Schneider enters the lineup at second base.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Not ready to start Sunday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:14 AM
Guerrero (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Guerrero will get a second straight day to recuperate from lower-back tightness, an issue that cropped up during Friday's 8-5 win in the series opener. Charles McAdoo will receive the start at first base in place of Guerrero, who is being viewed as day-to-day heading into the Blue Jays' series in Boston that begins Tuesday.
Louis Varland
Louis Varland Serves up game-winning homer
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 6:45 AM
Varland (3-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up two runs on two hits in the ninth inning as the Blue Jays fell 3-1 to the Yankees. He struck out one.
Analysis: Brought in for the top of the ninth inning in a 1-1 tie, Varland couldn't get the game to extras as Cody Bellinger led off the frame with a single before Paul Goldschmidt hooked a game-winning two-run homer to left field. It was the first long ball Varland has served up all year, and one stumble isn't going to cost him his spot as Toronto's closer. On the season, the right-hander sports a 0.96 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 49:10 K:BB through 37.2 innings, and he's a perfect 12-for-12 in converting save chances.
Kevin Gausman
Kevin Gausman Strong start wasted Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 6:40 AM
Gausman didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Yankees, allowing one run on one hit and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: The veteran righty dominated a New York lineup missing Aaron Judge (ribs), generating 20 swinging strikes among his 105 pitches (66 total strikes), but the lone hit off Gausman was a solo shot by Jasson Dominguez in the fourth inning. It was an impressive return to form for Gausman after he'd been tagged four eight runs in 11 innings over his prior two outings, and Saturday's quality start was his first since May 22 and eighth of the year. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road next weekend against the Cubs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Managing back tightness
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 1:19 PM
Guerrero won't play in Saturday's game against the Yankees due to back tightness, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Manager John Schneider said Saturday that Guerrero began having problems with his back Friday, so the Jays will sit him down as a precaution. Schneider added that the slugging first baseman is already beginning to feel better, so an extended absence doesn't seem likely. Charles McAdoo will get the nod at first base and bat eighth while Guerrero rests.
Myles Straw
Myles Straw Taking seat Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 10:50 AM
Straw isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: Straw will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts during Friday's series opener. While he sits, Jesus Sanchez, Nathan Lukes and Yohendrick Pinango will form Toronto's outfield trio.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Getting rest Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 10:47 AM
Guerrero isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: Guerrero will take a rare day off Saturday after going 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored during Friday's series opener. Charles McAdoo will take over as Toronto's first baseman as a result and bat eighth.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Idle Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 10:43 AM
Kirk isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: Kirk went 3-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored during his first game back from the IL on Friday, and he'll now retreat to the bench as the Jays look to ease him back into regular playing time. Brandon Valenzuela will fill in behind the plate and bat sixth.
Kazuma Okamoto
Kazuma Okamoto Rare feat for 14th homer
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 9:57 AM
Okamoto went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over the Yankees.
Analysis: The third baseman took Ryan Weathers deep in the first inning, ripping a slider down the left-field line into the upper deck at the Rogers Centre. Per TSN.ca, Okamoto is only the 19th player in the history of the stadium and just the 10th Blue Jay to reach the 500 level with a long ball, a feat last accomplished by a Toronto player when Josh Donaldson did it in 2017. Through 10 games to begin June, Okamoto is slashing .316/.341/.500 with two homers, five runs and seven RBI.
George Springer
George Springer Homers, reaches base four times
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 2:34 AM
Springer went 1-for-2 with three walks, a two-run homer and three total runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Yankees.
Analysis: Springer ended a 14-game homer drought with his second-inning long ball and walked in his three subsequent plate appearances. The 36-year-old went 3-for-22 through the first six games of June, but he's been more productive during his past two contests, going 2-for-5 with five walks, a homer, two RBI and four runs. Despite his .208/.303/.361 slash line through 208 plate appearances this year, Springer has continued to operate as Toronto's primary leadoff man.
Louis Varland
Louis Varland Notches 12th save
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 2:25 AM
Varland picked up the save Friday against the Yankees, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.
Analysis: The right-hander saw a streak of 18 straight outings without giving up an earned run come to an end during his previous appearance Tuesday, but he bounced back Friday by throwing 12 of 16 pitches for strikes and securing his 12 save of the year. Varland retains a firm grip on Toronto's closer role with a 0.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 48:10 K:BB over 36.2 innings.
Trey Yesavage
Trey Yesavage Walks six in win
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 2:21 AM
Yesavage (3-3) earned the win Friday, allowing five runs on four hits and six walks over five innings against the Yankees. He struck out three.
Analysis: It certainly wasn't Yesavage's best performance as he walked at least six for the second time this season, though it was enough to net the win since the Blue Jays built up an early lead and tacked on late. The right-hander has surrendered five or more runs in three of his past four starts and has a 6.85 ERA and 18:17 K:BB across 22.1 innings during that span.
