Receives first big-league call-up
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 3:04 PM
The Blue Jays selected Van Eyk's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Analysis: Van Eyk will provide the Blue Jays with some extra coverage in the bullpen heading into Sunday's series finale in San Diego and will be making his MLB debut if/when he gets into a game. The 27-year-old righty has mostly served in a starting role at Buffalo this season, logging a 3.79 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 56:25 K:BB across 78.1 frames.
Chad Dallas
Chad Dallas Demoted to Triple-A
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 3:01 PM
The Blue Jays optioned Dallas to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Analysis: Toronto will swap Dallas out of its bullpen for a fresher right-handed arm in CJ Van Eyk, who was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Dallas is likely to re-enter the rotation at Triple-A after making his first two MLB appearances in relief for Toronto.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Not starting Sunday
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 2:23 PM
Kirk is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Kirk will get a day off for the final game of the first half after starting the previous three contests and going 4-for-12 with a walk, two doubles and two RBI in that span. Brandon Valenzuela will step in behind the plate to catch right-hander Kevin Gausman on Sunday.
George Springer
George Springer On bench Sunday
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:55 PM
Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Springer started the past three games after missing six contests while on the paternity and family medical emergency list, but he'll take a seat Sunday for the final matchup before the All-Star break. Barring an appearance off the bench, the veteran slugger will finish the first half with a disappointing .218/.303/.374 slash line, nine home runs and six steals in 66 games.
Goes in fourth round
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 6:09 PM
The Blue Jays selected Brick with the No. 131 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Brick is a prep catcher from Tennessee who reclassified to be part of this year's class. He has plus raw power, but thus far, Brick's defense and arm behind the plate have been what gets evaluators excited about his prospects in pro ball.
Heading North
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 5:27 PM
The Blue Jays selected Cooney with the No. 103 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Cooney was drafted as a shortstop but may end up at second base long term. Cooney, a righty hitter from Oregon, doesn't swing and miss very often, but also doesn't project to hit for notable power. He stole 28 bases in 117 games the past two seasons.
Drafted by Toronto
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 3:27 PM
The Blue Jays selected Carlon with the No. 39 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Carlon, a 6-foot-5 southpaw from Arizona State, averaged under two innings per appearance as a reliever his first two seasons before moving to the rotation as a junior. He logged a 3.87 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 38.0 K% and 8.9 BB% in 83.2 innings, and while his walk rate is a little high, it's a notable improvement from the 11.3 BB% and 13.7 BB% he logged as a sophomore and freshman, respectively. He has power stuff that ticked up even after he got stretched out this spring, as he sits around 96 mph with his heater and touches 101 mph. Carlson threw his 70-grade slider over half the time this spring, and he lacks a quality third pitch. That didn't stop him from dominating lefties and righties in college, but he'll need to add a viable third pitch and improve his command if he is going to make it as a big-league starter. Carlson's two monster offerings from the left side and lack of experience as a starter give us a lot to dream on, but he may not move through the minors as quickly as the typical high-end college arm.
Braydon Fisher
Braydon Fisher Reinstated from bereavement list
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 5:28 PM
The Blue Jays reinstated Fisher (personal) from the bereavement list ahead of Friday's game against the Padres.
Analysis: Fisher was away from the team while attending to a personal matter, but he'll be available out of the bullpen for Friday's series opener. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 3.33 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, eight holds, one save and a 46:21 K:BB across 46 innings this season.
Shipped to Toronto
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 2:11 PM
The Blue Jays acquired Sprock from the Twins in exchange for Tommy Nance on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Toronto also received international bonus pool money as part of the trade. The 21-year-old catcher was an eighth-round pick by the Twins last year and has spent much of the 2026 season with Single-A Fort Myers. In 280 trips to the plate with Fort Myers, Sprock slashed .306/.436/.441 with five homers, 37 RBI, 46 runs scored, 14 stolen bases and a 49:31 BB:K. He was recently promoted to High-A Cedar Rapids.
Daz Cameron
Daz Cameron Back in states with Jays MiLB deal
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 9:08 AM
The Blue Jays signed Cameron to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
Analysis: Cameron had been playing with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization, slashing .287/.360/.473 with nine homers and nine steals in 75 games. The 29-year-old will supplement Toronto's outfield depth at Triple-A Buffalo.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer Mixed bag in rehab start
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 8:25 AM
Scherzer (back) was charged with five runs (four earned) on six hits and no walks over four innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday. He struck out five.
Analysis: It wasn't a great outing from a run-prevention standpoint, but Scherzer picked up 16 whiffs on his 72 pitches, which is encouraging. He averaged 93.4 mph with his four-seamer, which is slightly up from what he's averaged during his time with the Blue Jays this season. Scherzer will likely make one more rehab start during the All-Star break before rejoining the Blue Jays' rotation for the start of the second half, assuming all goes well. He has a 10.23 ERA in six starts with the big club in 2026.
George Springer
George Springer Goes yard in return to lineup
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 5:49 PM
Springer went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 rout of the Giants.
Analysis: Back in the lineup for the first time since June 30, Springer went back-to-back with Vladimir Guerrero in the ninth inning off Ryan Walker to put an exclamation point on the Blue Jays' offensive outburst. Springer picked up right where he left off prior to away from the team due to the birth of his child -- over his last 14 games in June, he'd slashed .281/.333/.439 with two homers, three steals, five RBI and eight runs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ends power drought in rout
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 5:45 PM
Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Giants.
Analysis: The first baseman snapped a 17-game homer drought, launching just his fifth long ball of the season in the ninth inning off Ryan Walker. Guerrero's had a rough first half -- during those 17 games he managed a weak .194/.250/.226 slash line with only two doubles and five RBI -- but Wednesday's blast could help take some of the pressure off his shoulders.
Dylan Cease
Dylan Cease Nearly dials up no-no
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 5:42 PM
Cease (6-4) picked up the win Wednesday in a 10-0 rout of the Giants, scattering one hit and three walks over eight scoreless innings. He struck out 11.
Analysis: The right-hander took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, but Heliot Ramos broke it up with a leadoff single, ending Cease's afternoon at 118 pitches (81 strikes). It was his sixth start of the season with double-digit strikeouts, and Cease heads into the All-Star break with a 2.56 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and American League-leading 148 strikeouts in just 98.1 innings. He's on the short list to get the start for the AL in the All-Star Game.
George Springer
George Springer Making first start since June 30
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 12:42 PM
Springer will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Toronto reinstated Springer from the family medical emergency list Monday, but he was held out of the lineup for the club's first two games of its series in San Francisco. Springer will return to the lineup for the finale in what will be his first start since June 30, and he'll bat somewhere other than the leadoff spot for the first time all season while manager John Schneider sticks with Ernie Clement atop the batting order for the third straight contest. The arrangement won't necessarily be a permanent one, but slotting behind Vladimir Guerrero in the order could prove beneficial for Springer, who has struggled to a .221/.308/.373 batting line over 276 plate appearances on the season.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Absent from lineup Wednesday
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 12:39 PM
Keys is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Francisco.
Analysis: Keys started the previous seven games and contributed two hits and two RBI in Tuesday's victory, but he'll get some rest during Wednesday's series finale. With George Springer ready to rejoin the Blue Jays' lineup, Keys could see his playing time dip moving forward.
Sean Keys
Sean Keys Productive in Tuesday's win
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 9:48 AM
Keys went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Giants.
Analysis: With George Springer still out of the lineup, Keys made his sixth straight start and put together a strong effort. The rookie has gone 5-for-21 (.238) to begin July with a homer, four runs and five RBI in those six games, but a shaky 38.1 percent strikeout rate. Springer could be back in action as soon as Wednesday, which would leave Keys without a clear path to regular playing time.
George Springer
George Springer Out of Tuesday's lineup
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 6:08 PM
Springer isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Springer will miss out on the starting nine for a second straight game since returning from the family emergency list Monday. Sean Keys will fill in as Toronto's designated hitter and bat seventh.
Alejandro Kirk
Alejandro Kirk Sitting Tuesday
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 6:01 PM
Kirk isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Kirk will get a break Tuesday after going 0-for-7 with a walk across his last two starts. Brandon Valenzuela will replace him behind the plate and bat fifth.
Chad Dallas
Chad Dallas Back in majors
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 5:56 PM
The Blue Jays recalled Dallas from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
Analysis: Dallas conceded one earned run in 3.2 innings during his MLB debut June 4 and has since given up just one run in 13.2 frames at Triple-A. His strong performance will now buy him another look in the majors, presumably as a long-relief option. Yohendrick Pinango was optioned to Buffalo in a corresponding move.
