Jack Leiter
Jack Leiter Begins throwing program
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 9:00 AM
Leiter (ankle) threw a bullpen session during the All-Star break, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Following the bullpen session, Leiter continued to throw off flat ground in Atlanta, where the Rangers kicked off a three-game set Friday. The arm feels good, but the report indicates the right-hander could possibly return late in the season.
Jakob Junis
Jakob Junis Expected back Saturday
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:36 PM
The Rangers are expected to reinstate Junis (hip) from the injured list ahead of Saturday's game against Atlanta, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Junis hasn't pitched since June 29 because of a right hip impingement, but he was with the team during Friday's loss and is now set to rejoin the bullpen Saturday without first heading out on a rehab assignment. The 33-year-old has been one of the most reliable members of Texas' pitching staff this season, posting a 2.80 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 35.1 innings. He figures to resume working as a setup man for closer Jacob Latz.
Cal Quantrill
Cal Quantrill Roughed up by Atlanta
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 9:31 PM
Quantrill (3-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Friday, allowing six runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out three across four innings.
Analysis: Quantrill got out of the first inning unscathed after giving up two baserunners, but that's where the good news ended for the veteran right-hander. He gave up at least two runs in three of the next four frames, with four of those runs coming on two homers in the fourth inning. It was the most runs Quantrill gave up in a game since Aug. 28, 2025 against the Phillies, when he yielded nine runs across 3.1 innings. He sits at a 3.93 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 50.1 innings this season. Quantrill is lined up to make his next start next week at home against the White Sox, which could be his last turn in the rotation if Jordan Montgomery (elbow) is cleared to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Under the weather
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 5:25 PM
Eovaldi is dealing with an illness but is lined up to start against Atlanta on Sunday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: It looks like Eovaldi picked something up over the All-Star break, but he may not end up missing significant time as long as he's cleared to start in Sunday's series finale. The veteran right-hander posted a 9-7 record across 18 starts in the first half of the regular season, along with a 4.04 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 120:26 K:BB across 111.1 innings.
Jacob deGrom
Jacob deGrom Likely to return against White Sox
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 5:23 PM
DeGrom (glute) will throw a bullpen session Saturday and will likely make his next start during the Rangers' home series against the White Sox that begins Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Landry initially reported Thursday that deGrom was lined up to face Atlanta on Sunday, but it looks like the veteran right-hander needs a little bit more time to recover. He is dealing with a mild left glute strain that he picked up prior to the All-Star break, but the injury is not severe enough for him to require a stint on the injured list.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager Progresses to running
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:02 PM
Seager (back) is doing some light running on the field ahead of Friday's game against Atlanta, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Seager has played just four games since June 11 due to concussion and back issues, and he's still recovering from lower-back inflammation. It's been an extremely disappointing season for the 32-year-old, who is slashing just .182/.292/.374 with 10 homers, 25 RBI, 28 runs scored, one stolen base and a 28:59 BB:K across 219 trips to the plate.
Jacob deGrom
Jacob deGrom Tentatively lined up for Sunday
Thu, Jul 16, 2026, 1:01 PM
DeGrom (glute) appears tentatively lined up to start Sunday's game in Atlanta, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: DeGrom had to be scratched from his final scheduled start of the first half due to a mild left glute strain. He planned to play catch over the All-Star break before likely throwing a bullpen session this weekend. As long as he gets through that mound session without any hiccups, deGrom is likely to take the ball Sunday in the series finale. If deGrom needs a little more time, the Rangers could push him back to start during next week's home series versus the White Sox.
On rehab assignment
Thu, Jul 16, 2026, 8:39 AM
Walcott (elbow) began a rehab assignment at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Tuesday and has gone 3-for-6 with one home run and one stolen base.
Analysis: Working his way back from internal brace surgery on his right elbow, Walcott has been used in the designated-hitter spot in his first two rehab games. He's been playing catch, but it's not clear when he will be ready to play the field in games. Walcott finished the 2025 season at Double-A Frisco and will either return to that level or move up to Triple-A Round Rock as his rehab advances.
Back in action after TJ surgery
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 2:05 PM
McConnaughey (elbow) has produced a 1.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB in 6.2 innings through his first three appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
Analysis: The No. 115 overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, McConnaughey didn't make his professional debut until June 26 of this year while he completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent the previous spring. The 22-year-old righty has looked sharp thus far in the ACL and could move up to Single-A Hickory shortly after the All-Star break.
Elbow surgery on tap
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 2:00 PM
Bumila is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left elbow later this week and is expected to miss the entire 2026 season, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Bumila already underwent an internal brace procedure in May 2025 before suffering a setback with his elbow during the spring that will ultimately necessitate a second operation, but that didn't deter the Rangers from selecting the 18-year-old lefty in the third round of the 2026 First-Year Player Draft. Checking in at 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, Bumila boasts a power arsenal to match his towering frame, as his fastball touched 101 mph this spring before he was shut down with the elbow injury. Until Bumila meets with Dr. Keith Meister later this week, it won't be known whether the southpaw will require another internal brace procedure or Tommy John surgery. Either way, the Rangers won't be counting on Bumila to make his pro debut until the 2028 season.
Cody Freeman
Cody Freeman Requires surgery for herniated disc
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 11:06 AM
Freeman underwent surgery June 29 to repair a herniated disc in his neck, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: At the time surgery was performed, Freeman was expected to rest for about three weeks before resuming baseball activities, so he could be cleared for on-field work when the Rangers reconvene following the All-Star break. Before landing on the injured list June 25, Freeman appeared in just seven games for the Rangers and went 4-for-17 with a 1:5 BB:K and one run.
Jordan Montgomery
Jordan Montgomery Looking sharp on rehab assignment
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 10:50 AM
Montgomery (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks across four innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock.
Analysis: Montgomery spotted 35 of his 52 pitches for strikes and averaged 90.1 mph with his sinker, which was down 1.7 ticks from his average through his first five rehab outings. The velocity downturn isn't fully unexpected as Montgomery works deeper into his rehab starts, and his results through three outings with Round Rock and two with Double-A Frisco have been impressive overall (2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 11:0 K:BB in 12 innings). The veteran southpaw -- who is working his way back from the hybrid UCL reconstruction surgery he underwent in March 2025 -- will likely make one final rehab start next weekend before the Rangers bring him back from the 60-day injured list.
Cody Bradford
Cody Bradford Inefficient in rehab start
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 10:42 AM
Bradford (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed one run on no hits and two walks in a one-inning rehab start with Double-A Frisco on Sunday.
Analysis: Bradford made his first appearance since April 2, as he was previously pulled off a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock after one start when he experienced a setback in his recovery from his June 2025 internal brace procedure. The southpaw needed 21 pitches to record his three outs and threw just seven strikes, with the lack of control not especially surprising coming off a lengthy layoff from game action. The Rangers are expected to allow Bradford to get stretched out for a starting role during his rehab assignment, but he'll need to improve his efficiency as he builds up his innings volume in his subsequent minor-league outings in order to stake a claim to a spot in the big-league rotation once his 30-day rehab window comes to a close.
Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo Walk-off knock Sunday
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 6:10 PM
Nimmo went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.
Analysis: Nimmo's three hits were all singles, and two of them drove in runs. His last of the game was a walk-off knock against Josh Hader. Since recovering from a brief absence due to a shoulder injury, Nimmo has gone 8-for-29 (.276) with five RBI over eight games. He's batting .263 with a .756 OPS, nine home runs, 34 RBI, 38 runs scored, 21 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases over 90 contests this season.
Kyle Higashioka
Kyle Higashioka Hits game-tying homer
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 6:07 PM
Higashioka went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.
Analysis: Higashioka went yard in the eighth inning, tying the game at 5-5 a half-inning after the Astros had pulled ahead. Higashioka has started three of the last four games behind the dish for the Rangers, perhaps suggesting he's clawing back some playing time from Elias Diaz. Higashioka is batting .220 with a .670 OPS, seven homers, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases over 177 plate appearances.
MacKenzie Gore
MacKenzie Gore Decent in start on short rest
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 5:52 PM
Gore allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision versus the Astros.
Analysis: Jacob deGrom was scratched due to a glute injury, and Gore stepped up to pitch on short rest. Gore threw 39 of 65 pitches for strikes and limited the damage to a Jose Altuve solo shot in the fourth inning. Gore had given up 12 runs over his previous 10 innings. The southpaw is now at a 4.63 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 115:41 K:BB through 105 innings over 20 starts this season. Expect him to go back to normal rest after the All-Star break, though his effectiveness Sunday in a shorter outing could be something to keep an eye on.
Alejandro Osuna
Alejandro Osuna Slips into reserve role
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:53 PM
Osuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Osuna will remain on the bench for a third straight game. After filling the strong side of a platoon in the outfield for the better part of the last month, Osuna looks like he'll be stuck in a reserve role after Wyatt Langford returned from the injured list Thursday.
Elias Diaz
Elias Diaz Left out of starting nine
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:51 PM
Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Diaz will head to the bench for the third time in four games while the Rangers go with Kyle Higashioka behind the dish. Though he appeared to have supplanted Higashioka as the Rangers' preferred catcher while Danny Jansen (forearm) remains on the shelf, Diaz may have faded into a timeshare after going 3-for-19 (.158 average) with a 0:4 BB:K over his last six starts.
Emiliano Teodo
Emiliano Teodo Getting big-league look
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:49 PM
The Rangers recalled Teodo from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
Analysis: Teodo will get his first look in the big leagues after producing a 3.76 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 52:35 K:BB across 40.2 innings out of the bullpen at Round Rock this season. He should fill a low-leverage relief role while he's up with the Rangers.
Chris Martin
Chris Martin Lands on injured list
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:07 PM
The Rangers placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder impingement.
Analysis: It's unclear when Martin sustained the injury, but he's been struggling of late with seven runs allowed in his past five outings. The veteran right-hander will be eligible to be reinstated in late July.
