Tyler Wade
Tyler Wade Inks NRI deal with Rangers
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 3:08 PM
The Rangers signed Wade to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Wade hit just .206/.309/.252 over 59 games with the Padres in 2025, which is right in line with his career .216/.294/.284 batting line at the major-league level. The 31-year-old is capable of playing every position other than catcher and first base, and he's in line to provide utility depth at Triple-A Round Rock.
Wyatt Langford
Wyatt Langford Option to play center field
Mon, Dec 8, 2025, 2:32 PM
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Monday that the team is open to the possibility of using Langford as its center fielder next season, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Langford made 97 starts in left field and 36 starts in center field for the Rangers during the 2025 season and was graded with a plus-5 in Outs Above Average at both spots, per Baseball Savant. As things stand right now, the Rangers would likely use Langford in left field and Evan Carter (wrist) in center field next season against right-handed pitching. However, it's possible Langford will shift to center if the club is able to acquire corner outfield help or if Carter is injured. The right-handed-hitting Langford is also an option to play center field versus lefties when the left-handed-hitting Carter sits.
Jonah Bride
Jonah Bride Invited to Rangers' camp
Tue, Nov 25, 2025, 6:32 PM
Bride signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Bride finished 2025 with a mere .435 OPS over 125 plate appearances between Miami and Minnesota. He slashed .281/.423/.453 over 43 games in Triple-A, however, which was enough to earn him a shot with the Rangers this spring. He'll most likely report to Triple-A Round Rock at the start of the upcoming season.
Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo Dealt to Texas
Sun, Nov 23, 2025, 4:59 PM
The Mets are finalizing a trade that will send Nimmo to the Rangers in exchange for infielder Marcus Semien, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Nimmo is coming off a 2025 campaign during which he posted a .760 OPS with 25 home runs, 92 RBI and 13 stolen bases over 652 regular-season plate appearances. He also played in a career-high 155 contests and has been relatively durable in recent campaigns, logging at least 151 appearances every year since 2022 despite managing a foot injury. Nimmo should immediately take on a starting role in the Rangers' outfield and will be looked to for some pop, as he's averaged 24 regular-season long balls over the past three years. However, his defense has slipped of late (probably at least in part due to the foot issue), and he has five years remaining on his current deal, which may explain why the Mets decided to move him. Nimmo has a full no-trade clause in his contract, but he's already approved the deal, per Will Sammon of The Athletic.
Sam Haggerty
Sam Haggerty Secures deal for 2026
Fri, Nov 21, 2025, 5:47 PM
Haggerty agreed to a one-year contract with the Rangers on Friday, avoiding arbitration.
Analysis: Haggerty inked a minor-league deal with Texas in February and was up in the big leagues six weeks into the regular season. The 31-year-old primarily worked in a utility role and had a .253/.328/.370 slash line with 12 steals and 31 runs in 181 plate appearances.
Michel Otanez
Michel Otanez Picked up by Rangers
Wed, Nov 5, 2025, 2:20 PM
The Rangers claimed Otanez off waivers from the Athletics on Wednesday.
Analysis: Otanez is a hard thrower with a 34.1 percent strikeout rate but also a 14 percent walk rate over 39.1 big-league innings. The 28-year-old will compete for a spot in the Rangers' bullpen.
Willie MacIver
Willie MacIver Claimed by Rangers
Wed, Nov 5, 2025, 2:16 PM
The Rangers claimed MacIver off waivers from the Athletics on Wednesday.
Analysis: MacIver got his feet wet at the big-league level in 2025, slashing .186/.252/.324 over 32 games for the Athletics. The Rangers have Jonah Heim and Kyle Higashioka slated to handle catching duties in 2026, so MacIver is merely a depth addition.
Winston Santos
Winston Santos Closes season healthy
Wed, Nov 5, 2025, 10:54 AM
Santos (back) posted an 8.49 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB In 11.2 innings over four appearances between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock upon being activated from Frisco's 7-day injured list Aug. 29.
Analysis: Santos had been on the shelf for more than four months due to a stress reaction in his back, which he sustained following his second start of the season with Frisco. Due to the extended time Santos missed, the Rangers sent him to the Arizona Fall League, where he submitted a 5.28 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB in 14.1 innings. The 23-year-old righty will be heading into his second straight season as a member of the Rangers' 40-man roster, but he's unlikely to seriously contend for an Opening Day spot with the big club and will likely be ticketed for the Round Rock rotation to begin the 2026 campaign.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Undergoes sports hernia surgery
Thu, Oct 9, 2025, 12:33 PM
Eovaldi underwent surgery Wednesday to repair a sports hernia, Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports reports.
Analysis: The typical recovery timeline for the procedure is 6-to-8 weeks, which will allow Eovaldi to begin his offseason throwing program when he normally would. He is expected to be fully recovered from the hernia surgery and also his late-season rotation cuff strain in time for the start of spring training. Eovaldi held a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 129:21 K:BB across 130 innings for the Rangers in 2025.
Declan Cronin
Declan Cronin Inks two-year MiLB deal with Texas
Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 9:39 PM
Cronin (elbow) signed a two-year, minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Cronin is slated to miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the end of September, so the Rangers will bring him in on a two-year deal with the hope of having him contribute to the organization in 2027. When healthy, the 28-year-old reliever turned in a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 22 innings at Triple-A in 2025.
Cole Winn
Cole Winn Tracking toward normal offseason
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:43 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Winn (shoulder) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Winn landed on the 15-day injured list during the final week of the regular season with a right rotator cuff strain, but he is expected to be fine after some rest. The 25-year-old collected a 1.51 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 41.2 innings out of the Rangers' bullpen in 2025.
Cody Bradford
Cody Bradford Full participant in spring training
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:39 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that he expects Bradford (elbow) to be a full participant during spring training, but an exact timeline for the pitcher is undetermined, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Bradford underwent an internal brace procedure in late June to repair the UCL in his left elbow. It's a less invasive surgery and comes with a shorter rehab than Tommy John, but it still seems highly unlikely Bradford will be ready for the start of next season. A clearer picture on the southpaw's timetable should be available during spring training.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Looking at 6-to-8 week recovery
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:31 PM
Burger is expected to require 6-to-8 weeks to recover following surgery Monday to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Burger first injured his wrist in mid-August before returning to play through the issue during the final month of the season. He will be able to begin his normal offseason hitting program following the 6-to-8 week recovery period, setting Burger up to enter spring training without limitations, barring any setbacks.
Marcus Semien
Marcus Semien Expected to have normal offseason
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:28 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Semien (foot) is expected to have a normal offseason, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Semien last played in late August due to a fractured third metatarsal and a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot, but he has not encountered any setbacks in his recovery and will not have his offseason training interrupted. The veteran second baseman slashed .230/.305/.364 with 15 home runs and 11 stolen bases over 127 contests in 2025.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Might require sports hernia surgery
Fri, Oct 3, 2025, 2:22 PM
Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Eovaldi (shoulder) will visit a physician in Phoenix next week to determine whether he will require sports hernia surgery, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Eovaldi's season ended in late August when he was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain. However, Fenstermaker noted that Eovaldi's shoulder injury is not expected to impact his offseason throwing program. The bigger concern now appears to be Eovadi's groin area, though more will be known about his status moving forward following next week's exam. Eovaldi had a fabulous 2025 campaign, posting a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 129:21 K:BB across 130 innings. He's under contract with the Rangers through 2027.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Headed for wrist surgery
Mon, Sep 29, 2025, 10:19 AM
Burger said after Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Guardians that he plans to undergo surgery later this week to repair a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Burger initially sprained the wrist in mid-August and spent about two weeks on the injured list before returning to action for the final month of the season. However, Burger struggled to a .206 average while striking out at a 28.4 percent clip in September, bringing his slash line down to .236/.269/.419 over 103 games during his first campaign in Texas. Burger -- who also required stints on the shelf due to oblique and quadriceps injuries -- had received a cortisone shot to relieve discomfort in his wrist prior to his return from the IL, but he's hopeful that surgery will offer more permanent relief after he felt the tendon "popping" in and out of place over the past few weeks. Burger is under club control through 2028, and despite his disappointing debut season in Texas, he currently projects to head into spring training atop the depth chart at first base.
Patrick Corbin
Patrick Corbin Five Ks in no-decision
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 5:35 PM
Corbin did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning loss, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The veteran southpaw kept the Cleveland lineup relatively in check during this 90-pitch outing, as he didn't concede an extra-base knock. Corbin gave up two runs on a Johnathan Rodriguez single in the first before being tagged with another run on a Bo Naylor sacrifice fly in the third. The 37-year-old concludes his season with a 4.40 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 131:51 K:BB across 155.1 total frames.
Rowdy Tellez
Rowdy Tellez Two straight absences to close season
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:05 PM
Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Tellez will remain absent from the starting nine for the second straight day to close out the season while the Guardians send another southpaw (Logan Allen) to the hill. Jake Burger will start at first base in Tellez's place.
Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson Sitting against southpaw
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:04 PM
Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Pederson will remain absent from the starting nine for the second straight day to close out the season while the Guardians send another southpaw (Logan Allen) to the hill. Adolis Garcia will serve as Texas' designated hitter in Pederson's stead.
Jacob Latz
Jacob Latz Strikes out six in no-decision
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 10:15 PM
Latz didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: It was just the eighth start of the season for Latz, who fell one punchout shy of matching his season high. The 29-year-old southpaw didn't see much high-leverage work in 2025 -- he has two holds and one save -- but he was effective as a swingman for the Rangers. Through 85.2 frames, Latz produced a 2.84 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 76:37 K:BB.
