Adolis Garcia
Adolis Garcia Piles up season-high four RBI
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 10:41 PM
Garcia went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a double in Tuesday's 10-4 victory over the Orioles.
Analysis: On the heels of collecting three RBI in Monday's extra-innings loss to Baltimore, Garcia established a season high with four RBI on Tuesday. The 32-year-old right fielder was hitting just .208 as of May 28, but he's slowly begun to round into form since the beginning of June. Across his last 107 plate appearances, Garcia is slashing .278/.318/.443 with three home runs, seven doubles, 22 RBI and three stolen bases.
Jonah Heim
Jonah Heim Productive outing in rout
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 10:32 PM
Heim went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a walk in Tuesday's 10-4 victory over the Orioles.
Analysis: Heim tallied his 13th multi-hit effort of the season. The switch-hitting backstop has been mired in a brutal slump -- he has a .464 OPS across his last 101 plate appearances -- but he should still serve as Texas' primary catcher moving forward. Backup Kyle Higashioka hasn't performed much better at the plate recently, posting a .490 OPS over his last 86 plate appearances.
Josh Jung
Josh Jung Taking seat Tuesday
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 5:09 PM
Jung isn't in the Rangers' lineup Tuesday versus the Orioles.
Analysis: Jung is getting the day off Tuesday amidst his slump as he slashed .158/.208/.221 in the month of June. The third baseman is now batting .237 entering July, but he was hovering around .280 prior to June. While the 27-year-old is on the bench Tuesday, Ezequiel Duran has the start at the hot corner and is batting eighth.
Billy McKinney
Billy McKinney Contract selected
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 4:29 PM
The Rangers selected McKinney's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
Analysis: The veteran outfielder inked a minor-league deal with Texas in late May and will receive his first look in the big leagues this season. It'll likely be a short stay in the majors for McKinney, since Evan Carter (personal) should soon be back from the bereavement list.
Cole Winn
Cole Winn Sent to Triple-A
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 4:25 PM
The Rangers optioned Winn to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander surrendered four runs (three earned) in his past two outings and will lose his place on the big-league roster. Winn was unscored upon prior to that and has a 1.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB across 17 big-league innings this year, so he should be back with the Rangers before too long.
Tyler Mahle
Tyler Mahle Shifts to 60-day IL
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 4:20 PM
Mahle (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: The veteran right-hander has already been ruled out through the July 31 trade deadline due to a rotator cuff strain, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline much. Mahle will be eligible to be reinstated in mid-August, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to return at that point, especially since he's still in the midst of a rest period.
Evan Carter
Evan Carter Moves to bereavement list
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 4:16 PM
The Rangers placed Carter (personal) on the bereavement list Tuesday.
Analysis: Carter has been away from the team for the past few days in order to attend his grandfather's funeral, and he's now officially been moved to the bereavement list. It was previously reported that the 22-year-old was likely to rejoin the team Wednesday, though it's unclear if that's still the expectation.
Dane Dunning
Dane Dunning Rejoins big club
Tue, Jul 1, 2025, 4:14 PM
The Rangers recalled Dunning from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander was optioned to Round Rock on Friday but will make a quick return to the majors with Evan Carter (personal) being placed on the bereavement list. Dunning has made just two appearances with the Rangers this season and has a 4.47 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB across 46.1 innings at Triple-A.
Evan Carter
Evan Carter Expected back Wednesday
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 5:44 PM
The Rangers expect Carter (personal) to rejoin the team Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Carter left the team in order to attend his grandfather's funeral. He has not been placed on the bereavement list, so the Rangers will play a man short for two games. Michael Helman is in center field for Texas on Monday.
Josh Smith
Josh Smith Sitting against southpaw
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 5:39 PM
Smith is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: After starting in each of the last five games while the Rangers faced off against right-handers, the left-handed-hitting Smith will hit the bench Monday while the Orioles send lefty Trevor Rogers to the hill. Though he's arguably been the Rangers' most valuable hitter overall this season with a .339 wOBA over 284 plate appearances, Smith has been far more productive against righties (133 wRC+) than lefties (71 wRC+).
Alejandro Osuna
Alejandro Osuna Sitting after five straight starts
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 5:34 PM
Osuna is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
Analysis: With the Orioles sending lefty Trevor Rogers to the hill for the series opener, the left-handed-hitting Osuna will head to the bench. Osuna had started in each of the Rangers' last five matchups with right-handed pitchers, and he looks poised to hold down a strong-side platoon role in the Texas outfield until one of Wyatt Langford (oblique) or Jake Burger (oblique) returns from the injured list.
Tyler Mahle
Tyler Mahle Out past trade deadline
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 5:10 PM
Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said Monday that Mahle has been diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain and will not return until after the July 31 trade deadline, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Rangers are hopeful that the shoulder injury won't be a long-term concern, but Mahle has been prescribed some extended rest before he begins ramping back up once he's cleared to start a throwing progression. Mahle has already been sidelined for the past two weeks and is set to miss several more weeks of action before returning from the 15-day injured list.
Wyatt Langford
Wyatt Langford Expected back Saturday
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 4:50 PM
Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said that Langford (oblique) is expected to return from the 10-day injured list Saturday when first eligible, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Manager Bruce Bochy told McFarland that Langford will likely head out on a rehab assignment later this week, and if all goes well, the 23-year-old outfielder will rejoin the big club this weekend. Langford is slashing a disappointing .232/.308/.421 for the Rangers this season and has been on the IL twice due to oblique injuries.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Expected back this weekend
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 4:30 PM
Burger (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday and is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to the Rangers' road trip that begins Friday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Burger has been shelved since June 21 with a left oblique strain, but he's been cleared for rehab games and will require a brief minor-league assignment before being activated. The 29-year-old should see regular starts upon his return, likely bouncing between first base and designated hitter.
Evan Carter
Evan Carter Away from team Monday
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 4:14 PM
Carter won't be available for Monday's game against the Orioles while he tends to a personal matter, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Orioles are starting left-hander Trevor Rogers in the series opener, so the left-handed-hitting Carter likely would have been out of the lineup even if he was with the team. The Rangers haven't indicated whether Carter will rejoin the team Tuesday. Michael Helman will get the nod in center field Monday.
Kyle Higashioka
Kyle Higashioka Scores twice in loss
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 7:36 AM
Higashioka went 0-for-5 with two runs scored in Sunday's 6-4 extra-innings loss to Seattle.
Analysis: Higashioka never reached base safely but managed to score two runs as the automatic runner in the 10th and 12th innings. June hasn't been kind to Higashioka, who is batting .167 after posting a .194 average during May. He parlayed a good stretch in San Diego last season into a two-year deal with the Rangers during the offseason, but Higashioka has not delivered while splitting the catching duties with Jonah Heim.
Evan Carter
Evan Carter Extends hit streak in loss
Mon, Jun 30, 2025, 7:20 AM
Carter went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 6-4 extra-innings loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Carter scored the Rangers' first run after a second-inning double, which also extended a hit streak to seven games. He's gone 10-for-28 (.357) with three steals, one RBI and four runs during his streak. The two thefts give Carter eight stolen bases through 32 games.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager Delivers clutch homer
Sun, Jun 29, 2025, 9:04 PM
Seager went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly during Sunday's 6-4 extra-innings loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: All three of Seager's RBI came in extra innings, swatting a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning and scoring Kyle Higashioka on a sac fly in the 12th. Seager has homered in three consecutive games and boasts a five-game hit streak. During that five-game stretch, Seager is 6-for-18 (.333) with six runs scored and seven RBI.
Jack Leiter
Jack Leiter Gets back on track
Sun, Jun 29, 2025, 9:03 PM
Leiter didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Seattle, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: Leiter posted his first quality start in seven appearances, completing at least six frames for just the third time this season. The 25-year-old will end June on a high note after allowing 13 runs with a 9:8 K:BB in 13.2 innings during his past three outings. He took a loss in all three appearances. Leiter will take a 4.29 ERA into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come in San Diego next weekend.
Jacob Latz
Jacob Latz Exits Sunday's game
Sun, Jun 29, 2025, 4:10 PM
Latz was removed in the ninth inning of his relief appearance in Sunday's game against the Mariners due to an unspecified reason, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports. He struck out four and allowed one hit and one walk over 2.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: After taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning while working as a starter in his previous appearance Tuesday in Baltimore, Latz ended up shifting back to the bullpen this weekend. He entered Sunday's contest in the top of the seventh and worked two scoreless frames before he was lifted in the top of the ninth after striking out a batter and giving up a ground rule double. Wilson relays that Latz was dealing with an illness Saturday and may have been dealing with some fatigue, but the Rangers will likely elaborate further on Latz's early exit once Sunday's contest concludes.
