Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson Reaches base three times Saturday
Sat, May 16, 2026, 9:41 PM
Pederson went 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI single during the Rangers' 4-1 loss to the Astros on Saturday.
Analysis: Pederson supplied the Rangers' lone run after his single in the seventh inning brought Jake Burger home. Pederson is up to 10 RBI on the season and is slashing .214/.333/.330 with three home runs and 13 runs scored in 126 plate appearances.
Jacob deGrom
Jacob deGrom Gives up four homers in loss
Sat, May 16, 2026, 9:11 PM
DeGrom (3-2) took the loss against the Astros on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four across six innings. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: It was an uncharacteristic night for deGrom, who gave up two solo home runs in both the first and fourth innings of Saturday's loss. It was the second time in 257 regular-season starts that the veteran right-hander gave up at least four home runs in a game, per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. DeGrom has yielded 10 home runs this season (tied for third-most in the American League) and has a 3.02 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 61:8 K:BB across 50.2 innings. His next start is lined up for next weekend on the road against the Angels.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager Out of lineup due to back spasms
Sat, May 16, 2026, 3:15 PM
Seager is dealing with back spasms and isn't in Texas' lineup Saturday versus Houston, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Seager was also held out of the lineup Friday, but that was presumed to be a rest day in the midst of the shortstop's 0-for-27 skid at the plate. It's not clear when Seager's back began bothering him, though Landry notes that the issue is considered minor and that Seager could be back in the lineup Sunday. Ezequiel Duran is starting at shortstop for the Rangers on Saturday.
Returns to action Friday
Sat, May 16, 2026, 3:07 PM
Scarborough (melanoma) tossed 1.2 innings for Texas' Arizona Complex League club Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two batters.
Analysis: Scarborough didn't have a great pitching line Friday, but his presence on the mound was positive given that he underwent surgery to remove a melanoma in February. The right-hander is one of the Rangers' top pitching prospects. He will likely need some time to build back up, but Scarborough could be bumped up to Double-A at some point this season if he pitches well after returning to a standard workload.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Logs rare theft
Sat, May 16, 2026, 8:44 AM
Burger went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 2-0 loss to Houston.
Analysis: Burger, who was one of five Rangers to reach base against Houston pitching, stole his first base of the season and reached third base but was stranded there. He's not usually a threat on the basepaths and has one steal in each of the last four seasons. The streaky Burger remains a lineup regular despite a .224/.263/.385 slash line through 171 plate appearances.
Justin Foscue
Justin Foscue Breaks up no-hit bid
Sat, May 16, 2026, 8:37 AM
Foscue started at second base and went 1-for-3 in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Foscue's single was the lone hit off Houston starter Spencer Arrighetti, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. Foscue started for the first time in four games, as Ezequiel Duran covered shortstop for a slumping Corey Seager (0-for-27). Since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, Foscue is 3-for-14 with one home run and two RBI over seven games.
Jack Leiter
Jack Leiter Tagged with unfortunate loss
Sat, May 16, 2026, 8:08 AM
Leiter (1-4) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Astros after allowing one run on three hits and three walks across seven innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Leiter's only mistake in his outing was the solo homer he gave up to Isaac Paredes in the third inning. It's only two starts, but Leiter seems to be turning things around after a tough stretch that saw him allow 21 runs (20 earned) on 27 innings across five starts between April 11 and May 3. Leiter has bounced back and has allowed just one run on 11.2 frames in his last two starts. Leiter will try to keep it rolling in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for next week against the Rockies on the road.
Josh Smith
Josh Smith Hospitalized with meningitis
Fri, May 15, 2026, 4:56 PM
Smith (lower body/wrist) was diagnosed with viral meningitis Friday and is receiving treatment in a hospital, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Smith is expected to remain in the hospital for 7-to-10 days, at which point he'll restart his rehab program. The 28-year-old utility man had already been dealing with a glute strain and a wrist issue, and there's currently no telling when he'll be back in the Rangers' lineup. Ezequiel Duran has been making regular starts at second base with Smith sidelined.
Luis Curvelo
Luis Curvelo Beginning rehab assignment
Fri, May 15, 2026, 3:43 PM
Curvelo (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Analysis: Curvelo has been sidelined since April 15 with a right shoulder impingement, but he appears to be nearing a return to the mound. The right-hander pitched in four games out of the Texas bullpen prior to the injury, surrendering three runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts across five innings.
Corey Seager
Corey Seager Not in lineup Friday
Fri, May 15, 2026, 3:35 PM
Seager is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Seager is 0-for-25 at the plate over his last seven games and will get a breather, as Ezequiel Duran moves over to shortstop for Texas. On the season, Seager is slashing a disappointing .179/.286/.353 with seven home runs, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored, one stolen base and a 22:50 BB:K across 182 plate appearances.
Cody Freeman
Cody Freeman Ready for rehab assignment
Thu, May 14, 2026, 3:58 PM
Freeman (back) will begin a rehab assignment with the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate Thursday.
Analysis: Freeman missed most of spring training due to a stress reaction in his lower back but has been cleared for games after a long rehab process. Because he's been sidelined for so long, Freeman's rehab assignment could last a while. When the Rangers decide the 25-year-old is ready to rejoin the active roster, he'll fill a utility role.
Ezequiel Duran
Ezequiel Duran Involved in late comeback win
Thu, May 14, 2026, 8:20 AM
Duran went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-5 win over Arizona.
Analysis: Duran laced a two-out, RBI double and scored in the ninth inning as part of the Rangers' three-run rally to overcome a 5-3 deficit. He's finding a comfortable home at second base with Josh Smith (wrist/lower body) sidelined on the injured list. Duran has hit safely in 10 off 11 contests, slashing .325/.404/.600 with six extra-base hits, eight RBI, one steal and eight runs scored during that stretch. Given that Duran has been good against pitchers of either hand, he could take over as the club's primary second baseman, which had been Smith's job prior to his injury.
Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson Remains at leadoff
Thu, May 14, 2026, 8:05 AM
Pederson batted atop the order and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Pederson batted leadoff for a second consecutive game, both against right-handers, while Brandon Nimmo followed him in the order. Prior to the last two contests, Nimmo has been the team's leadoff hitter in every game in which he's started. The Rangers haven't faced a lefty since manager Skip Schumaker tweaked the top of the order, but Pederson presumably wouldn't be in the lineup against southpaws given he's logged just five plate appearances against left-handers all season.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Homers in four-RBI effort
Wed, May 13, 2026, 11:19 PM
Burger went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 win over Arizona.
Analysis: Burger matched a season high in RBI on Wednesday, knocking multiple hits for the ninth time this year as well. The 30-year-old first baseman hasn't been all that effective at the plate overall in 2026, but the Rangers are lacking in other viable alternatives at the cold corner to push Burger for action on a consistent basis. Through 159 at-bats, Burger is hitting .226 with seven homers, five doubles and 27 RBI.
Jacob Latz
Jacob Latz Melts down in second blown save
Wed, May 13, 2026, 11:03 PM
Latz was charged with a blown save Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on three hits and no walks. He failed to record an out.
Analysis: Brought in to preserve a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning, Latz allowed six baserunners and even threw a wild pitch in a calamitous outing. The 30-year-old left-hander already had a loose grip on Texas' closer role, but his numbers remain strong enough that the Rangers figure to continue deploying him as their primary ninth-inning option. Through 21.2 innings, Latz has a 2.08 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB while converting five of his seven save chances.
Kumar Rocker
Kumar Rocker Five strong innings in no-decision
Wed, May 13, 2026, 10:47 PM
Rocker took a no-decision Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing no runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: The 26-year-old right-hander turned in one of his best starts of the season Wednesday. Although Rocker matched a season worst in free passes, he scattered three singles during his first scoreless outing of the year and also tied a season most in pitches (97). Rocker still has an underwhelming 4.34 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB across 37.1 innings, so fantasy managers may want to consider shying away from him in his next scheduled appearance at hitter-friendly Coors Field against the Rockies.
Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo Returning to lineup
Wed, May 13, 2026, 6:00 PM
Nimmo (ankle) will start in right field and bat second Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Nimmo was lifted from Tuesday's 7-4 win in the sixth inning after spraining his left ankle earlier in the game when he tried to leg out an infield single. According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Nimmo's status heading into Wednesday's series finale was a question mark, but he's been given the green light to start after completing a pregame running workout. After leading off in his first 39 starts of the season, Nimmo will occupy the No. 2 spot for the second day in a row while designated hitter Joc Pederson serves as the Rangers' table setter.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Expects to make start Sunday
Wed, May 13, 2026, 4:03 PM
Eovaldi (side) threw a bullpen session without issue Wednesday and expects to make his next scheduled start Sunday in Houston, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Eovaldi had to be scratched from a scheduled start Monday against the Diamondbacks due to tightness in his left side. However, he has bounced back quickly and appears poised to miss only the one turn through the rotation. The veteran right-hander has been excellent in his last two starts, logging a 0.60 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Plays catch Wednesday
Wed, May 13, 2026, 2:51 PM
Eovaldi (side) played catch in the outfield Wednesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Eovaldi had to be scratched from a scheduled start Monday against the Diamondbacks because of left side tightness. He's listed as day-to-day, and the fact that he's throwing again already suggests he has a chance to take his next turn through the rotation this weekend in Houston.
Sam Haggerty
Sam Haggerty Enters for injured teammate
Wed, May 13, 2026, 7:50 AM
Haggerty replaced Brandon Nimmo (ankle) in Tuesday's 7-4 win over Arizona. He went hitless in his lone plate appearance.
Analysis: Nimmo landed awkwardly when legging out an infield single in the sixth inning. Haggerty entered as a pinch runner and remained in the game to play left field, while Alejandro Osuna moved from left to right field. With Nimmo day-to-day and Wyatt Langford (forearm) on the injured list, Haggerty could grab some starts in the coming days. He's filled a minor role with the Rangers, totaling just 33 plate appearances and batting .161 over 25 games so far this season.
