MacKenzie Gore
MacKenzie Gore Decent in start on short rest
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 5:52 PM
Gore allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision versus the Astros.
Analysis: Jacob deGrom was scratched due to a glute injury, and Gore stepped up to pitch on short rest. Gore threw 39 of 65 pitches for strikes and limited the damage to a Jose Altuve solo shot in the fourth inning. Gore had given up 12 runs over his previous 10 innings. The southpaw is now at a 4.63 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 115:41 K:BB through 105 innings over 20 starts this season. Expect him to go back to normal rest after the All-Star break, though his effectiveness Sunday in a shorter outing could be something to keep an eye on.
Alejandro Osuna
Alejandro Osuna Slips into reserve role
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:53 PM
Osuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Osuna will remain on the bench for a third straight game. After filling the strong side of a platoon in the outfield for the better part of the last month, Osuna looks like he'll be stuck in a reserve role after Wyatt Langford returned from the injured list Thursday.
Elias Diaz
Elias Diaz Left out of starting nine
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:51 PM
Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Diaz will head to the bench for the third time in four games while the Rangers go with Kyle Higashioka behind the dish. Though he appeared to have supplanted Higashioka as the Rangers' preferred catcher while Danny Jansen (forearm) remains on the shelf, Diaz may have faded into a timeshare after going 3-for-19 (.158 average) with a 0:4 BB:K over his last six starts.
Emiliano Teodo
Emiliano Teodo Getting big-league look
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:49 PM
The Rangers recalled Teodo from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
Analysis: Teodo will get his first look in the big leagues after producing a 3.76 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 52:35 K:BB across 40.2 innings out of the bullpen at Round Rock this season. He should fill a low-leverage relief role while he's up with the Rangers.
Chris Martin
Chris Martin Lands on injured list
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:07 PM
The Rangers placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder impingement.
Analysis: It's unclear when Martin sustained the injury, but he's been struggling of late with seven runs allowed in his past five outings. The veteran right-hander will be eligible to be reinstated in late July.
Ezequiel Duran
Ezequiel Duran Lone Rangers bright spot in loss
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 11:17 PM
Duran went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in a loss to the Astros on Saturday.
Analysis: Duran knocked in all three Rangers runs with a solo homer in the fourth inning and a two-run shot in the ninth. The utility man has turned on his power of late, bashing four home runs and collecting seven RBI over his past six games. Duran has been quite valuable for Texas this season, as he's slashing .272/.322/.439 with 10 long balls, 39 runs, 50 RBI and seven stolen bases through 86 contests while playing every position on the field aside from catcher and pitcher.
Kumar Rocker
Kumar Rocker Rocked for seven runs in loss
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 11:04 PM
Rocker (2-8) took the loss against Houston on Saturday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 5.2 innings.
Analysis: Rocker gave up the seven runs on a trio of homers, including a grand slam off the bat of Lamonte Wade. That was out of character for the right-hander this season, as he entered Saturday with a 1.0 HR/9 and having yielded no more than two long balls in any outing. The seven earned runs and eight hits allowed were also season-worst marks for Rocker, who has had a very up-and-down campaign. He heads into the All-Star break with a 4.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 80:34 K:BB over 90 innings spanning 18 appearances (16 starts).
MacKenzie Gore
MacKenzie Gore Stepping up to start Sunday
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 9:23 PM
Gore will be the Rangers' starting pitcher against Houston on Sunday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Gore last pitched Wednesday against the Angels, so he'll be working on only three days of rest. Texas manager Skip Schumaker said Saturday that Gore approached him and offered to take the mound in what was otherwise looking like it might be a bullpen game for the team. Gore tossed 90 pitches in his previous start, so he may have his workload monitored Sunday in the Rangers' final contest before the All-Star break. Given that Texas will then have four days off, Gore's start Sunday won't necessarily impact his usual slotting in the rotation.
Selected by Texas
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 6:08 PM
The Rangers selected Calhoun with the No. 117 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft
Analysis: Calhoun made just two starts across his three seasons at Mississippi and was an inconsistent performer, especially across his first two seasons. The right-hander settled in a bit in 2026 with a 4.05 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 67:26 K:BB across 46.2 innings, but his command was still a bit scattershot. His diverse repertoire could give him some viability as a starter, but he'll need to improve his location significantly.
Third-round pick by Texas
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 5:15 PM
The Rangers selected Bumila (elbow) with the No. 89 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Bumila, a 6-foot-9, 255-pound prep lefty from Massachusetts, already touches 101 mph with his fastball with great movement and showcases clear front-of-the-rotation upside. He already had internal brace surgery in 2025 but was back to mowing down high school hitters this spring after leading his high school to the state basketball championship. Bumila suffered another elbow injury late this spring that will likely require surgery after he signs. A strong, athletic ox of a man, Bumila repeats his delivery well and has a quality changeup. His upside and risk are as extreme as it gets.
Drafted by Texas
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 3:58 PM
The Rangers selected Comeau with the No. 54 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Comeau improved his stock with his recent showing in the showcase circuit. He won't turn 18 until August and his approach is considered highly advanced for his age.
First prep pitcher off board
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 1:59 PM
The Rangers selected Rojas with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Rojas, a 6-foot-4 lefty from Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, has frontline upside thanks to easy mid-90s gas and a wipeout upper-80s slider. At 190 pounds, he has plenty of room to fill out his prototypical frame, and he already touches 98 mph with his heater. Rojas doesn't have much effort in his delivery and just needs to hone his third-pitch changeup while staying relatively healthy on his march to the majors. He could be a top five overall pitching prospect next summer.
Cal Quantrill
Cal Quantrill Settles for no-decision
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 9:05 AM
Quantrill didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-3 win over Houston, allowing one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out one batter across six innings.
Analysis: The 31-year-old's lone run allowed came courtesy of Yordan Alvarez's homer in the sixth. Quantrill otherwise did a great job keeping the Astros' offense in check while allowing just two batters to reach base between the third and sixth innings. He left the game with a 3-1 lead but was forced to settle for a no-decision after the Rangers' bullpen allowed Houston to tie the game in the seventh, leaving the righty still in search of his first win since June 3. Quantrill now owns a 2.12 ERA and 0.94 WHIP across 17 innings in four starts since joining the rotation.
Jacob deGrom
Jacob deGrom Scratched Sunday due to glute strain
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 4:29 PM
DeGrom will not make his scheduled start against the Astros on Sunday due to a mild left glute strain, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Friday that he's not sure whether deGrom will be available "right away" following the All-Star break, and a stint on the 15-day injured list is a real possibility for the veteran right-hander. No longer starting Sunday, DeGrom will enter the All-Star break with a 7-5 record over 18 starts along with a 3.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 122:22 K:BB across 100.2 innings. The Rangers should have a clearer idea of deGrom's recovery timeline once he undergoes more tests.
Cody Bradford
Cody Bradford Resuming rehab assignment
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 3:42 PM
Bradford (elbow) will resume his rehab assignment at Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Coming back from an internal brace procedure, Bradford threw two innings in one rehab outing back in early April but had to be pulled off that assignment after a setback. The left-hander is ready to give it another try and is slated to pitch one inning for Corpus Christi this weekend. Assuming the Rangers still intend to bring Bradford back as a starting pitcher, he will need several weeks to rebuild his stamina.
Elias Diaz
Elias Diaz Taking seat Thursday
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 3:21 PM
Diaz isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: Diaz will retreat to the bench Thursday after going 2-for-7 with a pair of strikeouts through the first two games of the series. Kyle Higashioka will replace him as the Rangers' backstop and bat seventh.
Josh Jung
Josh Jung Back in lineup
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 3:19 PM
Jung (knee) will start at third base and bat fourth Thursday against the Angels.
Analysis: Knee discomfort has kept Jung out of the starting nine for Texas' last three games, but the issue appears to have subsided ahead of Thursday's series finale. The 28-year-old will aim to finish the first half strong after going 10-for-28 (.357) with a homer, three RBI and four runs scored in his last seven games before getting hurt.
Josh Smith
Josh Smith Demoted to minors again
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 3:12 PM
The Rangers optioned Smith to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
Analysis: Smith went 6-for-21 with a home run and a triple in six games since returning from an earlier stint in the minors, but it wasn't enough to keep him from getting sent back down. The transaction clears a spot on the active roster for the return of Wyatt Langford from the injured list.
Wyatt Langford
Wyatt Langford Activated from injured list
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 3:09 PM
The Rangers activated Langford (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Analysis: Langford is skipping a rehab assignment and will go directly back onto the Rangers' active roster after missing just shy of two weeks with a strained left hamstring. He will serve as the designated hitter and bat second in Thursday's game against the Angels.
Kyle Higashioka
Kyle Higashioka Pops homer in loss
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 11:16 PM
Higashioka went 1-for-1 with a solo home run as a pinch hitter in Wednesday's 13-1 loss to the Angels.
Analysis: Higashioka popped the homer in the eighth inning to get the Rangers on the board. He stayed in the game as the pitcher, allowing two runs on two hits and a hit batsman in an inning of mop-up duty in the blowout loss. Higashioka has gone 8-for-37 with two homers and a 5:9 BB:K over his last 14 contests, but he's in the backup role behind Elias Diaz while Danny Jansen (forearm) remains out. On the year, Higashioka is batting .223 with a .672 OPS, six homers, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and three doubles over 166 plate appearances.
