Sam Haggerty
Sam Haggerty Enters for injured teammate
Wed, May 13, 2026, 7:50 AM
Haggerty replaced Brandon Nimmo (ankle) in Tuesday's 7-4 win over Arizona. He went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance.
Analysis: Nimmo landed awkwardly when legging out an infield single in the sixth inning. Haggerty entered as a pinch runner and remained in the game to play left field, while Alejandro Osuna moved from left to right field. With Nimmo day-to-day and Wyatt Langford (forearm) on the injured list, Haggerty could grab some starts in the coming days. He's filled a minor role with the Rangers, totaling just 33 plate appearances and batting .161 over 25 games.
Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson Shuffled to leadoff
Wed, May 13, 2026, 7:38 AM
Pederson batted leadoff and went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-4 victory over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Pederson was moved to leadoff and paid immediate dividends with a home run on the second pitch he saw in the first inning. Brandon Nimmo, who left the game with an ankle injury, had been the Rangers' leadoff batter when healthy and batted second Tuesday. Pederson had reached base safely in the first four games of the team's current homestand, and manager Skip Schumaker explained pre-game to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that he was trying to get runners on base for Nimmo and "lengthen the lineup." It's unclear if Pederson will continue to hit atop the order.
Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo Diagnosed with sprain
Tue, May 12, 2026, 10:23 PM
Nimmo was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle following his removal from Tuesday's game against Arizona, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Nimmo made an early exit from Tuesday's contest after rolling his ankle in the sixth inning. X-rays came back negative after the game, but the Rangers will still approach the situation on a day-to-day basis. If Nimmo isn't cleared to play in Wednesday's series finale, Sam Haggerty would be a likely candidate to pick up a start in the outfield.
Brandon Nimmo
Brandon Nimmo Exits with ankle injury
Tue, May 12, 2026, 9:02 PM
Nimmo was removed from Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks with a left ankle injury, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Nimmo rolled his ankle while legging out an infield single in the sixth inning. He attempted to remain in the game but was eventually pulled before the end of the frame. The Rangers will presumably send the 33-year-old in for further testing, and Sam Haggerty would likely be in line to start in the outfield if Nimmo needs to miss a game or two.
Chris Martin
Chris Martin Rehab assignment on tap
Tue, May 12, 2026, 6:42 AM
Martin (biceps) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday or Wednesday, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Martin, who has been in the 15-day injured list since April, made progress over the last week. He most recently threw a 25-pitch inning of live batting practice Saturday and is ready to rehab, likely at Triple-A Round Rock, which kicks off a series Tuesday against Sacramento. It's unclear how long Martin will need or if the Rangers will want him to throw on back-to-back days before activating the 39-year-old right-hander.
Ezequiel Duran
Ezequiel Duran Holds down second base
Tue, May 12, 2026, 6:28 AM
Duran started at second base and went 1-for-4 in Monday's 1-0 loss to Arizona.
Analysis: Duran started for the 11th consecutive game, with eight of those coming at second base. He's making a strong case to retain a regular spot in the starting nine, having gone 12-for-38 (.316) with five extra-base hits (one home run), five RBI, one steal and six runs scored during that 11-game run. He'd already stolen playing time at the keystone before Josh Smith (glute) landed on the 10-day injured list and has been the primary fill-in since. Smith, who is eligible to come off the IL on Thursday, came down with a case of wrist inflammation in the midst of his ramp-up per Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News, and he will therefore see his return potentially delayed.
Jakob Junis
Jakob Junis Logs 2.2 innings as opener
Mon, May 11, 2026, 10:29 PM
Junis (0-1) took the loss Monday, allowing one run on two hits and no walks over 2.2 innings against Arizona. He struck out two.
Analysis: With Nathan Eovaldi (side) scratched, Junis was called upon to start the bullpen game. The right-hander allowed back-to-back one-out doubles to Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo in the first inning, leading to the lone run in a low-scoring loss. Monday marked just the second appearance this season in which Junis allowed a run, snapping a streak of seven consecutive scoreless outings. Overall, the 33-year-old owns a 1.89 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with a 9:5 K:BB across 19 innings and figures to return to a high-leverage role moving forward, though he hasn't been called upon for a save since April 12 with Jacob Latz seizing the closer role.
Jose Corniell
Jose Corniell Back in action
Mon, May 11, 2026, 10:02 PM
Corniell (arm) gave up two hits and walked three while striking out four across 3.1 scoreless innings during Friday's game against Triple-A Durham.
Analysis: Corniell was cleared to make his 2026 debut after missing time with arm trouble. He looked a bit rusty in his first appearance of the season, but he managed to navigate around traffic on the bases for a decent first outing. Corniell will set his sights on staying healthy after also missing action over the last two seasons while recovering from UCL surgery.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Deemed day-to-day
Mon, May 11, 2026, 9:53 PM
Eovaldi (side) is being considered day-to-day, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: This is seemingly positive news for the right-hander, who was scratched from his scheduled start Monday against Arizona after experiencing left side tightness. The Rangers have yet to share any official imaging results, but the fact that he's been labeled as day-to-day is an indication that he's managed to avoid a serious injury. It's not clear at this time when he will take the mound next.
Josh Smith
Josh Smith Now dealing with wrist issue
Mon, May 11, 2026, 4:41 PM
Smith (lower body) is dealing with a wrist injury that will delay his rehab program, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Smith landed on the 10-day injured list this past Tuesday due to a right glute strain. A minimum stint on the IL would have Smith eligible to return May 15, but his new wrist issue will likely push that return date by at least a few days. Prior to his placement on the IL, Smith was slashing .217/.324/.239 with two steals and six RBI across 108 plate appearances.
Jakob Junis
Jakob Junis Working as opener Monday
Mon, May 11, 2026, 4:04 PM
Junis will serve as the Rangers' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Analysis: Junis will be called upon to start on short notice after Nathan Eovaldi (side) was a late scratch for his scheduled turn through the rotation. Though he's made 116 career starts in the big leagues, Junis has worked exclusively as a reliever since the start of the 2025 season and may not be asked to cover more than 1-to-3 innings Monday. Cal Quantrill will be available out of the bullpen on two days' rest and could be an option to cover multiple innings once Junis exits the game.
Nathan Eovaldi
Nathan Eovaldi Out Monday due to tight side
Mon, May 11, 2026, 4:00 PM
Eovaldi has been scratched from his scheduled start Monday against the Diamondbacks due to left side tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The injury is a tough blow for both the Rangers and Eovaldi's fantasy managers, as the right-hander had been in peak form for his last two starts, covering 15 innings and collecting wins in both of those appearances while pitching to a 0.60 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB. The Rangers will send Eovaldi in for further tests as they look to determine whether he's dealing with an oblique strain, which would presumably require a stint on the IL. Texas will turn to Jakob Junis as its opening pitcher for what will be a bullpen game in Monday's series opener. Consider Eovaldi day-to-day until the Rangers provide more information on the extent of his injury.
Danny Jansen
Danny Jansen Absent from lineup
Mon, May 11, 2026, 4:00 PM
Jansen is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Kyle Higashioka will start behind the plate and bat ninth as the Rangers open up a series versus Arizona. Jansen has netted only one hit over his last five contests.
Evan Carter
Evan Carter Goes deep in win
Sun, May 10, 2026, 10:10 PM
Carter went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Carter gave the Rangers breathing room with his eighth-inning homer, the second in five games and fifth of the season for the outfielder. All five of his homers have come against right-handers, as the left-handed batter has just one single in 23 at-bats when facing a lefty. If there's any value to be had from Carter, who's slashing .176/.308/.653, it's his six steals through 39 games.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Remaining on bench Sunday
Sun, May 10, 2026, 11:31 AM
Burger is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs
Analysis: It's the second consecutive game on the bench for Burger, who has a .130/.178/.188 slash line across his past 18 games. Justin Foscue is picking up a second straight start after going 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Saturday's contest.
Cody Bradford
Cody Bradford Throwing again
Sun, May 10, 2026, 9:22 AM
Bradford (elbow) began throwing from 60 feet during the Rangers' most recent homestand, MLB.com reports
Analysis: Bradford made one rehab start early in April but was shut down soon after. Now that he's throwing again, the Rangers are estimating he could return by late June.
Carter Baumler
Carter Baumler Shut down
Sun, May 10, 2026, 9:18 AM
Baumler (intercostal) has been shut down from his rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Baumler made three appearances while on his rehab assignment but experienced a setback and hasn't pitched since April 28. It's unclear when the right-hander will restart a throwing program.
Justin Foscue
Justin Foscue Homers in win
Sun, May 10, 2026, 9:08 AM
Foscue started at first base and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Foscue made a second consecutive start and swatted the first home run of his short MLB career. The infielder has just five hits over 58 at-bats across three short stints in the big leagues, but he's been given a clean slate by new Texas manager Skip Schumaker, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. He got the nod at second base Friday and had an RBI single, and the keystone is an unsettled spot in the lineup given the struggles Josh Smith (lower body) has before he landed on the IL. Either Foscue or Ezequiel Duran, who started at second base Saturday, could take hold of the position.
Jake Burger
Jake Burger Hitting bench Saturday
Sat, May 9, 2026, 2:14 PM
Burger isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus the Cubs.
Analysis: Burger will get a rare day off to regroup after going 2-for-19 with an RBI and a run scored over the Rangers' last five games. His absence will allow Justin Foscue to pick up a start at first base while batting ninth.
Danny Jansen
Danny Jansen Idle Saturday
Sat, May 9, 2026, 2:11 PM
Jansen isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
Analysis: Jansen will retreat to the dugout Saturday after going 0-for-3 during a loss in Friday's series opener. Kyle Higashioka will catch for starter Jack Leiter and bat eighth.
