Cole Wilcox
Cole Wilcox No longer on 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 11:45 AM
The Rays designated Wilcox for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Wilcox made his major-league debut this season with the Rays, getting roughed up for seven runs (three earned) over one inning in his lone appearance. The 26-year-old will go through the waivers process and could remain in the organization if he goes unclaimed.
Joey Gerber
Joey Gerber Cut from 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 11:43 AM
The Rays designated Gerber for assignment Monday.
Analysis: The Rays are doing some 40-man roster housecleaning and Gerber has lost his spot. The righty reliever made two appearances for Tampa Bay in 2025, allowing one run with a 4:0 K:BB over 4.1 innings.
Caleb Boushley
Caleb Boushley Removed from 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 11:41 AM
The Rays designated Boushley for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Boushley was a waiver claim of the Rays in September but never made an appearance for them. He's been outrighted previously, so Boushley will have the ability to elect free agency if he passes through waivers.
Garrett Acton
Garrett Acton Booted from 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 11:39 AM
The Rays designated Acton for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Acton made one scoreless appearance for the Rays in 2025 but spent virtually all of his time at Triple-A Durham, where he held a 3.68 ERA and 71:27 K:BB over 58.2 frames. The 27-year-old is no longer on the 40-man roster but could stick around in the organization if he passes through waivers.
Stuart Fairchild
Stuart Fairchild Activated and DFA'd
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 11:34 AM
The Rays activated Fairchild (oblique) from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Fairchild missed most of the second half with an oblique strain. While he will be recovered well ahead of spring training, the Rays have elected not to put him back on their 40-man roster. Fairchild is a career .223/.305/.384 hitter across parts of five major-league seasons.
Alex Faedo
Alex Faedo Designated for assignment
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 11:30 AM
The Rays activated Faedo (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Faedo never made an appearance at the major-league level for the Rays in 2025, having dealt with shoulder issues before eventually having thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in August. He's eligible for salary arbitration but could be non-tendered if he passes through waivers unclaimed.
Ryan Vilade
Ryan Vilade Traded to Rays
Mon, Nov 3, 2025, 10:35 AM
The Rays acquired Vilade from the Reds on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
Analysis: Vilade had been a waiver claim of the Reds in June but didn't receive a plate appearance during his brief time with Cincinnati. The 26-year-old is 9-for-64 over parts of three seasons during his time at the big-league level. Vilade will attempt to win a reserve role with the Rays.
Shane McClanahan
Shane McClanahan Expected to be healthy for camp
Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 11:03 AM
Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander said Tuesday that he expects McClanahan (triceps) to be "fully ready" for the start of spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: McClanahan was limited to just two rehab starts in 2025 due to a nerve issue in his left triceps, an injury which eventually required surgery in August. The expectation is that he will have a relatively normal offseason and be on a regular pitching schedule for spring training. That said, it's an uncommon injury McClanahan is coming back from, and the fact that he experienced numerous starts and stops this season should give fantasy managers pause with the southpaw heading into 2026. McClanahan hasn't pitched in a major-league game since August 2023, having gone Tommy John surgery that month, so he could have some workload restrictions in 2026 even if he's healthy, Neander acknowledged.
Ian Seymour
Ian Seymour Falls to Toronto
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 5:24 PM
Seymour (4-3) took the loss Sunday against the Blue Jays, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: Toronto got to Seymour out of the gate Sunday, scoring five times in the first inning, punctuated by an Alejandro Kirk grand slam. The 26-year-old Seymour had been pitching well coming into the day, posting a 2.08 ERA in his previous six appearances (30.1 innings). While it wasn't the ideal finish, it was an encouraging rookie campaign overall for the left-hander. Seymour posted a 3.63 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and 64:19 K:BB across 57 innings.
Yandy Diaz
Yandy Diaz Resting up for finale
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 1:56 PM
Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Analysis: Diaz will be rested along with fellow veteran Brandon Lowe in the season finale. Jonathan Aranda will serve as the Rays' designated hitter in place of Diaz, who has hit .300 with 25 home runs, three steals, 83 RBI and 79 runs in 150 games.
Brandon Lowe
Brandon Lowe Idle Sunday
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 1:54 PM
Lowe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Analysis: Tristan Gray will start at second base in place of Lowe in the season finale. Unless he's used off the bench, Lowe will finish the campaign with a .256 batting average, 31 home runs, three stolen bases, 83 RBI and 79 runs.
Chandler Simpson
Chandler Simpson Idle Sunday
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 1:51 PM
Simpson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
Analysis: Unless he's used off the bench Sunday, Simpson will conclude his rookie season with a .295 batting average to go with 44 stolen bases, 53 runs and 26 RBI in 109 games. Jake Mangum will enter the lineup in center field.
Ian Seymour
Ian Seymour Drawing start in season finale
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 11:53 AM
Seymour is slated to start Sunday's game in Toronto.
Analysis: In his most recent appearance Tuesday, Seymour ended up piggybacking starter Ryan Pepiot and covered four innings while allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks. Seymour will return to a traditional starting role for the season finale and will look to finish the campaign on a high note as he makes a case for a spot in the 2026 rotation. Since being called up from Triple-A Durham on July 31, Seymour has logged a 3.14 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB in 43 innings over 11 outings.
Jonathan Aranda
Jonathan Aranda Smacks another solo homer
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 6:26 PM
Aranada went 1-for-4 with a solo homer during the Rays' 5-1 loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Analysis: The Rays struggled to generate any offense in Saturday's loss, though Aranda supplied the team's only run with a solo homer off Yariel Rodriguez in the sixth inning. Aranda has belted a home run in each of the two games he's played in since returning from the IL on Friday and is up to 14 on the year. He has an .883 OPS with 55 runs, 22 doubles and 56 RBI across 417 plate appearances this season.
Joe Boyle
Joe Boyle Yields four runs in loss
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 5:04 PM
Boyle (1-4) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five across five innings.
Analysis: Boyle gave up just one earned run over his last two starts, but he couldn't carry that momentum into Saturday's AL East clash. He generated 15 whiffs on 92 pitches but couldn't avoid the loss as the Rays were limited to just one run. Boyle appeared in 13 games (nine starts) for the Rays in 2025 and will end the season with a 4.67 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 58:28 K:BB across 52 innings.
Josh Lowe
Josh Lowe Out of Saturday's lineup
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 11:48 AM
Lowe isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Analysis: Lowe will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 1-for-3 with a walk during a loss in Friday's series opener. While he rests, Christopher Morel, Chandler Simpson and Jake Mangum will start across Tampa Bay's outfield.
Junior Caminero
Junior Caminero Slugs 45th homer
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 9:45 PM
Caminero went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays.
Analysis: The 22-year-old became the second player in franchise history to reach the 45-homer plateau, with the only other occurrence happening in 2007 when Carlos Pena cracked 46 long balls. Caminero launched a solo shot off Toronto starter Shane Bieber in the second to tie the game at 1-1. The Tampa Bay third basemen has been a steady source of power all season and is now slashing .262/.307/.536 with 110 RBI and 93 runs scored through 644 plate appearances.
Jonathan Aranda
Jonathan Aranda Clubs homer in return
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 9:38 PM
Aranda (wrist) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss at Toronto.
Analysis: Aranda returned from a fractured left wrist that had kept him out since late July and immediately made an impact after being activated Friday. The Tampa Bay first baseman gave his team a 2-1 lead in the second with a solo shot off Blue Jays starter Shane Bieber. Aranda is now slashing .316/.395/.485 with 13 homers, 54 runs scored and 55 RBI across 413 plate appearances. The All-Star should play a prominent role in the Rays' lineup for their final two games.
Adrian Houser
Adrian Houser Suffers fifth loss
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 9:09 PM
Houser (8-5) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings to take the loss in Friday's game at Toronto. He struck out five.
Analysis: The Tampa Bay right-hander pitched relatively well over this 96-pitch appearance, generating a respectable 12 whiffs. The largest portion of the damage against Houser happened in the fifth when Nathan Lukes slugged a two-run long ball. After posting an unsightly 5.84 ERA across 69.1 frames in 2024, Houser wraps an impressive 2025 campaign over which he pitched to a 3.31 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB in 125 total innings with the White Sox and Rays. The 32-year-old is slated to become a free agent this offseason.
Nick Fortes
Nick Fortes Sitting Friday
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 3:44 PM
Fortes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.
Analysis: Fortes will yield to Hunter Feduccia behind the dish Friday. Feduccia now started three of the Rays' last four games and four straight against right-handed pitchers.
