Jordan Walker Keeps rolling Thursday
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 4:33 PM
Walker went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.
Analysis: That's now seven RBI in Walker's past three outings, which comes on the heels of his eight-game stretch with no RBI. The 23-year-old former top prospect is finally realizing his potential as a five-category fantasy producer during his fourth year in the major leagues. Through 116 at-bats, Walker is hitting .284 with nine homers, four doubles, 23 RBI and five stolen bases.
Alec Burleson
Alec Burleson Piles up three more RBI
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 4:23 PM
Burleson went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.
Analysis: The 27-year-old slugger has now racked up eight RBI in his last three games, also tallying multiple hits in three of his past four outings. Burleson is off to a strong start at the dish, cementing himself as St. Louis' primary No. 3 hitter in the batting order. Through 119 at-bats, he's hitting .277 with four home runs, eight doubles, 25 RBI and 15 walks.
Hunter Dobbins
Hunter Dobbins Signs of rust in team debut
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 3:41 PM
Dobbins didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Pirates, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Dobbins wasn't sharp in both his Cardinals and season debut following knee surgery last year, tying a career worst in free passes and firing only 41 of his 79 pitches for strikes. St. Louis is working with a six-man rotation for the time being due to a lack of off days, so the 26-year-old right-hander might only be staying in the major leagues temporarily. That said, Dobbins appears likely to get at least one more turn through the rotation next week against the division-rival Brewers.
Lars Nootbaar
Lars Nootbaar Close to extended spring games
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 11:12 AM
Nootbaar (heels) is close to participating in extended spring training games, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Nootbaar has been rehabbing at the Cardinals' spring training complex as he works his way back from offseason surgery on both heels. He will knock off some rust in extended spring training before eventually being assigned to a full-season affiliate. Nootbaar is eligible to return from the 60-day injured list May 24, and the Cardinals are tentatively lining him up to be back at that time.
Tink Hence
Tink Hence Demoted to FCL
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 10:59 AM
Hence was demoted to the Cardinals' Florida Complex League roster Wednesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Hence has posted an 8.64 ERA and 7:9 K:BB over 8.1 innings while working out of the bullpen at Triple-A Memphis. In his most recent outing, the righty averaged just 89.6 mph with his four-seamer and 90.2 mph with his sinker, with both pitches reflecting considerable drops in velocity. Hence will work on things in a less pressurized environment before likely rejoining the Memphis roster at a later date.
Ryan Fernandez
Ryan Fernandez Optioned to Triple-A
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 9:20 AM
The Cardinals optioned Fernandez to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.
Analysis: Fernandez has pitched well in his opportunities with the big club, posting a 1.59 ERA and 9:2 K:BB over 5.2 innings. However, the Cardinals needed to free a roster spot for Hunter Dobbins, who is starting Thursday in Pittsburgh, and Fernandez is the casualty.
Hunter Dobbins
Hunter Dobbins Ready for season, team debut
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 9:19 AM
The Cardinals activated Dobbins (knee) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Analysis: Dobbins will start Thursday's game in Pittsburgh as the Cardinals shift to a temporary six-man rotation amidst a 17-day stretch with no off days. He'll be making his team and 2026 big-league debut after posting a 4.37 ERA and 19:9 K:BB over 22.2 innings in five rehab starts with Triple-A Memphis. Dobbins -- who was acquired from the Red Sox over the offseason -- is coming back from ACL surgery, which he underwent last July. He got his pitch count up to as high as 91 on his rehab assignment, so Dobbins should be capable of handling a full workload Thursday.
Riley O'Brien
Riley O'Brien Hangs on for eighth save
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 9:55 PM
O'Brien secured the save Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: While O'Brien did allow the tying run to get aboard, he held on for his eighth save of the year courtesy of an amazing leaping catch at the wall by Nathan Church for the game's final out. The right-hander is solidifying his grip on St. Louis' closer role, posting a 1.17 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 17:1 K:BB over 15.1 frames. O'Brien trails only Mason Miller in saves in the National League so far.
Andre Pallante
Andre Pallante Fans six in six strong innings
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 9:49 PM
Pallante (3-2) tallied the win Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing one run on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Pallante delivered perhaps his finest effort of the season so far. The right-hander pitched a season-high six frames, issued no walks for the first time this year and also turned in his third start of the campaign with at least five innings while yielding one run or zero. Pallante has put together a respectable 3.73 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 26:14 K:BB over 31.1 frames, but he's next lined up for a tough assignment against the Brewers.
Pedro Pages
Pedro Pages Exiting starting nine Wednesday
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 2:39 PM
Pages is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Ivan Herrera has been the personal catcher for Andre Pallante this season, so Herrera will step in behind the dish Wednesday while Pages gets a breather. Pages could check back into the lineup for Thursday's series finale.
Injured at Triple-A
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 12:35 PM
Winquest (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
Analysis: No injury designation was provided. Winquest has allowed four runs with a 4:1 K:BB over three innings for Memphis since the Yankees returned the former Rule 5 pick to the Cardinals organization.
Nolan Gorman
Nolan Gorman Logs three RBI vs. Pittsburgh
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 10:21 PM
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two additional RBI during the Cardinals' 11-7 win over the Pirates on Tuesday.
Analysis: Gorman opened Tuesday's scoring with a solo home run off of Braxton Ashcraft in the second inning, and the former added two more RBI on sacrifice flies in both the fifth and seventh frames. Over his last seven games, Gorman has gone 7-for-25 (.280) with one home run, four RBI and three runs scored.
Jordan Walker
Jordan Walker Collects three RBI on Tuesday
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 10:07 PM
Walker went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored during the Cardinals' 11-7 win over the Pirates on Tuesday.
Analysis: Walker gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead with an RBI single in the third, and he drove in two more runs on a sacrifice fly and another RBI single in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively. It was Walker's fourth multi-RBI game of the season and his most in a game since April 4 against the Tigers (five). He is slashing .283/.358/.547 with five steals (on six attempts), eight home runs and 19 RBI over 120 plate appearances this season. He sits in the top-10 in the National League in home runs, slugging percentage and OPS.
Alec Burleson
Alec Burleson Big day at plate
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 9:56 PM
Burleson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk during the Cardinals' 11-7 win over the Pirates on Tuesday.
Analysis: Burleson extended the Cardinals' lead to 4-0 after an RBI double in the fifth, and he added to his team's lead in the eighth with another double that brought home Ivan Herrera and JJ Wetherholt. It was Burleson's 11th multi-hit game of the season and the third time he's logged three hits in a game. He is slashing .264/.344/.418 with one steal, three home runs, 20 RBI, 13 runs scored and a 14:17 BB:K across 125 plate appearances this season.
Kyle Leahy
Kyle Leahy Logs third win of 2026
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 9:47 PM
Leahy (3-3) earned the win against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out seven across 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: Leahy opened Tuesday's start strongly by striking out the side in the first inning. He kept the Pirates off the board over the next four frames but unravelled a bit in the sixth, giving up three runs on four hits (including home runs from Oneil Cruz and Ryan O'Hearn) before being pulled. Leahy got enough run support from his Cardinals teammates to come away with the win, but the nine hits he yielded were a season high. He sits at a 5.52 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB across 29.1 innings and is slated to make his next start next week at home against the Brewers.
JJ Wetherholt
JJ Wetherholt Third straight game with homer
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 11:18 PM
Wetherholt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-2 win over the Pirates.
Analysis: The rookie infielder went yard in his third consecutive game Monday as part of St. Louis' four-run rally in the ninth inning. Wetherholt has settled in as St. Louis leadoff batter, batting first in each of his 27 starts on the campaign. Through 128 plate appearances, he's slashing .238/.359/.429 with six homers, two doubles, 14 RBI, four stolen bases and 22 runs scored.
George Soriano
George Soriano Nabs rare save Monday
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 11:08 PM
Soriano secured the save Monday against the Pirates, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: It's possible the Cardinals were short on available high-leverage arms following a competitive weekend series with the Mariners, which enabled Soriano to step up for his first save of the season. The 27-year-old right-hander could see occasional work as a setup man going forward but isn't likely to see many save opportunities in most situations, and he has a 4.38 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over his first 12.1 frames.
Dustin May
Dustin May Another positive showing
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 10:47 PM
May took a no-decision Monday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: Just one of the hits allowed went for extra bases, as May continued to put his awful start to the season in the rear-view mirror. Although the right-hander gave up 13 runs over his first 7.1 frames, he's pitched at least five innings while giving up two runs or fewer in four consecutive starts en route to producing a 1.93 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB during that stretch. May still has a 5.28 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB over 30.2 frames for the season, and a tall task against the Dodgers awaits him in his next scheduled outing.
Luis Peralta
Luis Peralta Claimed by Cardinals
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 2:50 PM
The Cardinals claimed Peralta off waivers from the Rockies on Monday.
Analysis: The younger brother of Freddy Peralta, Luis has spent all of this season at Triple-A Albuquerque, where he's been bludgeoned for 14 runs with a 14:13 K:BB over 7.1 frames. The left-hander has collected a 6.03 ERA and 30:23 K:BB in 31.1 innings during his chances at the big-league level. Peralta boasts a 30.2 percent strikeout rate in the minors but also a 13.9 percent walk rate. He will report to Triple-A Memphis.
Victor Scott II
Victor Scott II Heading to bench for series opener
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 2:15 PM
Scott is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
Analysis: After another 0-for-3 performance in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Seattle dropped his season average to .191, Scott will take a seat for the series opener in Pittsburgh. Nathan Church will fill in as the Cardinals' center fielder in place of Scott, who could be at risk of falling into more of a part-time role if he's unable to get going offensively over his next handful of starts.
