Masyn Winn
Masyn Winn Uninjured in car accident
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 8:10 AM
Winn was involved in a single-car accident in St. Louis on Wednesday but did not suffer serious injuries, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Cardinals released a statement saying Winn's accident was caused by wet pavement. He was examined at a nearby hospital before being sent home. The incident occurred shortly after Winn delivered a walk-off RBI single in the Cardinals' extra-innings win over the Mets. St. Louis is idle Thursday before opening a road trip in Detroit on Friday. The club will re-evaluate Winn prior to Friday's contest before determining his availability. It's been a rough start to the season offensively for Winn, who is 4-for-25 with one stolen base and a 2:5 BB:K in his first 27 plate appearances.
Matthew Liberatore
Matthew Liberatore Logs quality start Wednesday
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 5:05 PM
Liberatore did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets, allowing a run on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: Liberatore was impressive Wednesday, holding the Mets without a hit until the fifth inning before eventually giving up a lone run on a Juan Soto homer with two outs in the sixth. Through two starts, the 26-year-old Liberatore has given up just two runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out four over 11 innings. The left-hander is tentatively in line for a road matchup with the Nationals his next time out.
Matt Pushard
Matt Pushard Brief shutdown period
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 11:10 AM
Pushard (knee) will be shut down for 4-to-5 days before resuming a throwing program, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Pushard landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right knee patellar tendinitis. The Rule 5 selection will be eligible to return April 14 but could be given more time than that to recuperate.
Jordan Walker
Jordan Walker Getting breather Wednesday
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 8:43 AM
Walker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets.
Analysis: Walker will get his first day off this season after going 5-for-17 with one home run and a 3:3 BB:K in his first five contests. Nathan Church will slide over to right field and Thomas Saggese will play left field for the Cardinals in Wednesday's series finale.
Ivan Herrera
Ivan Herrera Reaches base three times
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 9:36 PM
Herrera went 1-for-2 at the plate with a two-run double and two walks in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Herrera got the scoring started for the Cardinals, driving in Victor Scott and JJ Wetherholt with a double in the bottom of the third inning. Herrera then walked in the fifth and seventh innings. After going just 1-for-13 at the plate in the Cardinals' opening series against the Rays, Herrera has reached base four times in two games versus New York. He's now slashing .158/.227/.263 with two doubles and four RBI through five contests.
Ryne Stanek
Ryne Stanek Pitches seventh inning Tuesday
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 9:31 PM
Stanek walked one and recorded one strikeout in a scoreless seventh inning in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Stanek handled the ninth inning in both of the Cardinals' previous two wins, picking up the save on Opening Day against the Rays before blowing the save in the second game of the season. Manager Oliver Marmol opted to use Stanek in a setup role Tuesday, and Stanek had his best inning of the young season. With Stanek used earlier in the game, the Cardinals went to Riley O'Brien for the ninth inning Tuesday, and he slammed the door shut on the Mets, setting them down in order on 11 pitches to pick up his first save of the season. All three of Stanek, O'Brien and JoJo Romero figure to get save chances for the Cardinals this season.
Riley O'Brien
Riley O'Brien Sets Mets down in order for save
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 9:23 PM
O'Brien picked up his first save of the season in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Mets. He didn't allow a hit or a walk with no strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: It's notable that manager Oliver Marmol went to O'Brien for the ninth inning after each of the Cardinals' first two save chances of the season were given to Ryne Stanek in the opening series against the Rays. Stanek pitched the seventh inning against the Mets on Tuesday, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless frame. Stanek's save chances have been a rollercoaster, however, as he walked three on Opening Day and blew the save the following game, only to pick up the win later. O'Brien was effective in the role last season after Ryan Helsley was dealt at the trade deadline. The 31-year-old O'Brien turned in a 2.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB across 48 innings last regular season and picked up all six of his saves following Helsley's departure. The Cardinals figure to give O'Brien, Stanek and JoJo Romero save opportunities this season.
Andre Pallante
Andre Pallante Picks up first win of 2026
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 9:14 PM
Pallante (1-0) picked up the win against the Mets on Tuesday. He shut out the Mets over five innings, allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out three.
Analysis: Pallante didn't have his best stuff by any means, but the Mets' bats were quiet and couldn't find any holes in the St. Louis defense. Pallante is a back-of-the-rotation type who isn't going to miss many bats and needs his defense, making him an uninteresting fantasy option ahead of next week's road date with the Nationals.
Ivan Herrera
Ivan Herrera Second start at catcher
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 2:29 PM
Herrera will start at catcher and bat second in Tuesday's contest against the Mets.
Analysis: It's the second start at catcher this season for Herrera, leaving him eight games shy of gaining eligibility at the position if your league uses a 10-game in-season threshold. Herrera is off to a slow start offensively this season, going 2-for-17 with a double and two RBI.
Matt Pushard
Matt Pushard Goes on IL with knee tendinitis
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 2:24 PM
The Cardinals placed Pushard on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right knee patellar tendinitis.
Analysis: Pushard got knocked around in his major-league debut over the weekend, allowing three runs in an inning of work against the Rays, and now the reliever will miss at least the next two weeks of action. The Rule 5 pick was replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Gordon Graceffo.
Gordon Graceffo
Gordon Graceffo Called up Tuesday
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 2:22 PM
The Cardinals recalled Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander was unable to earn a spot in St. Louis' bullpen to begin the season but will quickly join the big club with Matt Pushard (knee) landing on the injured list. Graceffo covered 1.1 scoreless frames in his lone outing for Memphis but struggled across 26 appearances with the Cardinals last year, finishing with a 6.28 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB over 43 innings.
Nolan Gorman
Nolan Gorman Goes deep again Monday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 11:26 PM
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss against the Mets.
Analysis: Gorman stayed locked in at the plate, delivering another display of power by homering for the second time in as many days and recording an RBI in his fourth consecutive game. His 419-foot solo shot off Clay Holmes was pulled to right field and briefly cut into the deficit. The 25-year-old has failed to reach 20 home runs in each of the past two seasons after recording 27 in 2023, but his hot start suggests he could be trending back toward that mark this season.
Kyle Leahy
Kyle Leahy Hit hard in loss
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 10:53 PM
Leahy (0-1) took the loss Monday against the Mets, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over five innings.
Analysis: Making just his second MLB start, Leahy immediately found himself in trouble, giving up a leadoff triple to Francisco Lindor who eventually came around to score. The right-hander struggled to limit traffic all day, allowing at least one hit in every inning he pitched. While Leahy was able to work into the sixth frame throwing 79 pitches, the constant contact led to dangerous situations throughout the outing and four runs crossing the plate. After starting the final game of 2025, the 28-year-old is now adjusting to a rotation role and will look to find more consistency in his next outing against Detroit.
Hunter Dobbins
Hunter Dobbins Ready for rehab assignment
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 8:06 PM
Dobbins (knee) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday at Triple-A Memphis, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Dobbins managed to build up during spring training, though the team has limited him in fielding drills as he continues to rehab from ACL surgery. A timetable for his return from the injured list is unclear at this time, and even once he's fully healthy, it's unknown if he'll have a spot in the rotation waiting for him.
Jordan Walker
Jordan Walker Goes yard in three-hit effort
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 10:47 PM
Walker went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and two additional runs scored Sunday's 11-7 loss to the Rays.
Analysis: Walker turned in his eighth career game with at least three hits, smashing his first homer of the year in the process. The 23-year-old was once one of the top prospects in all of baseball, and he profiles as a post-hype sleeper of sorts during his fourth season in the big leagues in 2026. Walker is set to be St. Louis' everyday right fielder moving forward, but he may need to move up a bit in the batting order to increase his fantasy upside.
Dustin May
Dustin May Hit around in team debut
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 5:27 PM
May (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Rays, allowing six runs on 10 hits and one walk in four innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: May floundered in his Cardinals debut, getting knocked around for a career-high-tying 10 hits allowed and five extra-base knocks. The right-hander's pitch location was dodgy at beast, as May posted just four whiffs despite throwing 40 of his 61 pitches for strikes. With a tough matchup in Detroit versus the Tigers looming next weekend, May doesn't appear to be an appealing fantasy streamer at the moment.
Nathan Church
Nathan Church On bench against southpaw
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 1:13 PM
Church is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: Church had started against right-handed pitchers in the Cardinals' first two games of the season, going 3-for-8 with two runs and two RBI. However, with southpaw Steven Matz on the bump for the Rays in the series finale, the left-handed-hitting Church will cede left field to Thomas Saggese.
Nolan Gorman
Nolan Gorman Sitting against southpaw
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 10:25 AM
Gorman is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Rays.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Gorman was in the five spot in the lineup versus righties in each of the first two games of the season, but he'll sit out Sunday as the Cardinals go up against southpaw Steven Matz. Ramon Urias is at third base and batting sixth for St. Louis. Gorman has gone 2-for-8 with three RBI in the first two tilts of the season.
JoJo Romero
JoJo Romero Nabs first hold Saturday
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 9:53 AM
Romero struck out one in a perfect inning to record his first hold of the season in Saturday's extra-inning victory over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: The left-handed Romero was summoned in the eighth inning with a two-run lead and two lefty bats due up, but he wound up facing three righties after the Rays used a pair of pinch hitters. He needed 17 pitches to dispose of the Rays in order. Ryne Stanek has been used for both save chances for the Cardinals but has blown one opportunity and allowed six runners to reach base. Romero will continue to be used in high-leverage situations and get some save chances when the opposition has left-handed hitters due up, though the latter type of outings could be few and far between.
Matt Svanson
Matt Svanson Rough start to season
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 9:43 AM
Svanson has been charged with six runs while recording just three outs across his first two appearances of the season.
Analysis: Svanson pitched the sixth inning with a two-run lead in the opener and the ninth inning with a four-run advantage in Saturday's win over the Rays. In the latter contest, Ryne Stanek had been warming up for a save chance before the Cardinals extended their lead and turned to Svanson. He was pulled mid-inning and charged with three runs in both outings. The usage for the right-hander hasn't been favorable, but he's also been very unlucky, sporting a .625 BABIP despite a 12.5 percent hard-hit rate. Fantasy managers in need of roster room might be forced to cut Svanson, but there's still lots to be sorted out in the St. Louis bullpen.
