Alec Burleson
Alec Burleson Homers in third straight game
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 3:13 PM
Burleson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Mets.
Analysis: With his 424-foot blast off Christian Scott in the first inning, Burleson extended his home-run streak to three games and his hit streak to 11. In those 11 games, Burleson has gone 16-for-45 (.356) with a 1.119 OPS. He's boosted his slash line to .290/.356/.486 across 284 plate appearances this year with 11 homers, 48 RBI and 35 runs scored.
Jordan Walker
Jordan Walker Breakout campaign continues
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 9:30 PM
Walker went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Walker extended his hitting streak to seven games and his RBI streak to five outings Wednesday. The 24-year-old right fielder has five multi-hit efforts during that former stretch as well. Walker has blossomed into a five-category fantasy producer in 2026, slashing .303/.360/.566 with 17 homers, 52 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 45 runs scored over 275 plate appearances.
Andre Pallante
Andre Pallante Continues to provide length
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 9:23 PM
Pallante (7-4) earned the win Wednesday against the Mets, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: Pallante kept the Mets off balance throughout the evening, inducing an impressive nine groundouts. The 27-year-old right-hander continues to be a strong source of length in the Cardinals' rotation, working at least five innings in all but one of his 13 starts so far. Pallante will try to further improve on a quality 3.88 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 56:25 K:BB over 69.2 frames in his next scheduled outing against the Padres.
Bryan Torres
Bryan Torres Losing out on playing time
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 4:30 PM
Torres is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Torres will hit the bench for the second game in a row and looks like he may have to settle for a fourth-outfielder role along with a backup gig at second base following the recent returns of Lars Nootbaar and Nathan Church from the injured list. Like Nootbaar and Church, Torres bats from the left side of the plate, so he won't make for a viable platoon partner for either outfielder.
Nolan Gorman
Nolan Gorman Heading to bench Wednesday
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 4:27 PM
Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Gorman reached base on a pair of walks in Tuesday's 7-0 win in the series opener, but he remains stuck in prolonged dry spell at the dish. Dating back to May 20, Gorman has gone just 3-for-47 (.064 average) with one extra-base hit (a solo home run) while striking out at a 48.1 percent clip. The Cardinals will continue to shield Gorman from left-handed pitching, and he could be at risk of falling into more of a part-time role versus right-handers if he's unable to get going soon.
Jimmy Crooks
Jimmy Crooks Exiting lineup Wednesday
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 4:24 PM
Crooks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Andre Pallante has worked in a battery with Ivan Herrera for all but one of his 12 starts this season, so Crooks will take a seat while Herrera steps in behind the plate for the middle game of the series. Since being called up from Triple-A Memphis on May 29, Crooks has started in five of the Cardinals' ensuing 11 games while going 3-for-18 with a double, two walks and two RBI.
Ivan Herrera
Ivan Herrera Reaches base five times
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 11:50 AM
Herrera went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Mets.
Analysis: Herrera was hit by a Freddy Peralta pitch in both of his first two trips to the plate before later adding two singles and a double. The 26-year-old's hard-hit rate, barrel rate and average exit velocity are all down year-over-year. However, Herrera boasts a 12 percent walk rate and a 16.5 percent strikeout rate, and he is on pace to score more than 100 runs.
Nathan Church
Nathan Church Activated from injured list
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 2:30 PM
The Cardinals activated Church (shoulder) from the injured list Tuesday, Jim Hayes of FanDuel Sports Network Midwest reports.
Analysis: After landing on the IL on May 22, Church will return to St. Louis having missed over two weeks of action. Before hitting the injured list, the 25-year-old slashed .247/.282/.390 with five homers and 18 RBI. St. Louis optioned Victor Scott in order to make room for Church, who will play center field and bat ninth for the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Injury confirmed
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 2:20 PM
Peete is dealing with a concussion at High-A Peoria, Geoff Pontes of Baseball America reports.
Analysis: It appeared Peete injured his hand on a slide May 13, but this latest report clears up the diagnosis. The 20-year-old outfielder has always been young for his levels and was in the midst of his best stretch above rookie ball (117 wRC+) despite a career-high 31.4 percent strikeout rate.
Victor Scott II
Victor Scott II Officially optioned back to minors
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 8:19 AM
The Cardinals optioned Scott to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.
Analysis: Scott remains an elite defensive center fielder, but his bat has become untenable, as he's slashing just .194/.276/.258 across 61 games this season. Nathan Church (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day injured list to grab Scott's roster spot and is also the favorite to see the bulk of the playing time in center field.
Jose Fermin
Jose Fermin Claims second straight start
Mon, Jun 8, 2026, 12:46 PM
Fermin went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Reds.
Analysis: After going 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs while starting at third base in Saturday's 6-5 win, Fermin remained on the left side of the diamond for the series finale, this time filling in at shortstop for a resting Masyn Winn. Fermin is now slashing an acceptable .250/.312/.381 over 93 plate appearances on the season, but it's difficult to envision him moving out of a utility role unless St. Louis is hit hard by injuries in the infield or outfield.
Beginning rehab assignment
Mon, Jun 8, 2026, 11:31 AM
Ortiz (wrist) has been sent to the Cardinals' Florida Complex League affiliate to begin a rehab assignment.
Analysis: Ortiz went down with a wrist injury after just one game earlier this season with Double-A Springfield. He will likely play a few rehab contests with the FCL Cardinals before rejoining Springfield's active roster. Ortiz had a breakout in 2025 between Single-A Palm Beach and High-A Peoria, slashing .300/.416/.462 with 13 home runs, 39 stolen bases and a 67:117 BB:K.
Ryne Stanek
Ryne Stanek Finding groove
Mon, Jun 8, 2026, 9:08 AM
Stanek boasts a 1.38 ERA and 14:6 K:BB over 13 innings since the beginning of May.
Analysis: Stanek finished April with an 8.31 ERA and 18:12 K:BB across 13 frames in his first 15 outings of the season, but he's found a groove since then, having yielded an earned run in just one of his last 14 appearances. His poor control still gets him into trouble at times, but Stanek has re-established himself as one of Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol's go-to right-handed setup men. He could net the occasional save on days Riley O'Brien is unavailable.
Nathan Church
Nathan Church Poised for activation Tuesday
Mon, Jun 8, 2026, 8:16 AM
Church (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game versus the Mets, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Analysis: It's the corresponding move for Victor Scott, who is headed to Triple-A Memphis. Church has been sidelined since late May with a left shoulder strain but has been cleared to return after playing three rehab games with Memphis. With Scott in the minors, Church is likely to see the bulk of the starts in center field for St. Louis, at least against right-handed pitching.
Victor Scott II
Victor Scott II Set to be sent down
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 10:17 PM
Scott is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Memphis, Tamar Sher of KMOV reports.
Analysis: Scott has struggled to a .194 average with two home runs, nine RBI, 19 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 155 at-bats in 61 contests with the Cardinals this year. He will now be given a chance to hit the reset button with Memphis, and a corresponding move will be made by St. Louis ahead of Tuesday's series opener with the Mets in New York.
Riley O'Brien
Riley O'Brien Holds on for 17th save
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 7:06 PM
O'Brien secured the save Sunday against the Reds, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: O'Brien did let the possible tying run get to the plate, but he was able to hang on for the save courtesy of a Blake Dunn flyout. The 31-year-old right-hander has been shaky at times as St. Louis' closer, though he's now collected three saves in a row and ranks second in the National League behind only Mason Miller in saves. Through 29.1 frames, O'Brien has a 3.68 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB while converting 17 of his 21 save chances.
Michael McGreevy
Michael McGreevy Fans five in six strong innings
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 6:51 PM
McGreevy took a no-decision Sunday against the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: McGreevy has mostly done a fine job of keeping the ball in the yard in 2026, but he was tagged for multiple home runs Sunday for just the second time this year. On a much more positive takeaway, the 25-year-old right-hander pitched at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer for the sixth time in his last eight starts. McGreevy will bring a strong 2.99 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 49:17 K:BB over 72.1 frames into his next scheduled start in Minnesota.
Hunter Dobbins
Hunter Dobbins Set for start Thursday
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 4:30 PM
Dobbins is expected to start Thursday's contest on the mound against the Mets, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Dobbins will get a turn in the rotation after making two appearances out of the bullpen since his call-up from Triple-A Memphis on May 31. In those two outings, the 26-year-old combined to pitch 8.2 innings, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters. Dobbins made his first start with St. Louis on April 30, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks while punching out four, and he'll look to do a better job limiting the free passes against New York on Thursday.
Masyn Winn
Masyn Winn Out of lineup Sunday
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 10:22 AM
Winn isn't starting for St. Louis on Sunday against Cincinnati.
Analysis: Winn will get a breather after starting 14 straight games. He batted just .196 over that stretch, striking out 17 times over 60 plate appearances. Jose Fermin is drawing a start at shortstop in Winn's stead Sunday.
JJ Wetherholt
JJ Wetherholt Returning to action Sunday
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 10:13 AM
Wetherholt (groin) is starting at second base and batting leadoff for St. Louis versus Cincinnati on Sunday.
Analysis: Wetherholt missed three games due to a groin issue, but he's feeling well enough to return to action Sunday. Bryan Torres covered second base both Friday and Saturday, but he'll move to left field upon Wetherholt's return.
