Riley O'Brien
Riley O'Brien Picks up fourth save
Fri, Apr 10, 2026, 11:24 PM
O'Brien picked up his fourth save Friday against the Red Sox, striking out one in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: O'Brien entered in the ninth with a 3-2 lead and set the Red Sox down in order on eight pitches, six of which he threw for strikes. After Ryne Stanek opened the season as St. Louis' closer, O'Brien has recorded four straight saves for the Cardinals. He's yet to allow a run and owns a perfect 8:0 K:BB across 8.1 innings.
Dustin May
Dustin May Goes six strong, picks up first win
Fri, Apr 10, 2026, 11:19 PM
May (1-2) earned the win Friday against the Red Sox, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts across six innings.
Analysis: Facing his former team, May was able to get on the board with his first win as a member of the Cardinals. He flirted with trouble in the fourth inning, allowing two of the first three hitters of the inning to reach on singles. Boston then pushed one run across on an error before Marcelo Mayer reached on an infield single. Trevor Story then stole home to give Boston a 2-1 lead, but May was able to stop the bleeding with an inning-ending groundout. He then set down the Red Sox in order in the fifth and sixth and left with a 3-2 lead, which was preserved by the St. Louis bullpen. After two ugly starts against the Rays and Tigers to open the season, May now owns a 9.45 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 13.1 innings. He's slated to face the Guardians at home Wednesday.
Masyn Winn
Masyn Winn Dealing with bruised shin
Fri, Apr 10, 2026, 9:51 PM
Winn was diagnosed with a lower-leg contusion after getting hit by a pitch in Friday's game versus Boston, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Analysis: Winn ran for himself and played an inning of defense after getting hit by a pitch in the third inning but was eventually pulled in the fifth. The Cardinals are officially labeling his injury as a contusion, however, which suggests he escaped the incident without suffering any structural damage. If the team decides to sit him down for a day or two as a precaution, Thomas Saggese and Jose Fermin would be candidates to see time at shortstop.
Masyn Winn
Masyn Winn Exits after HBP
Fri, Apr 10, 2026, 8:48 PM
Winn was removed from Friday's game against the Red Sox after getting hit on the knee by a pitch, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Analysis: Winn drew a walk in his first plate appearance before taking an 84-mph sweeper off his knee in the third inning. He was initially able to remain in the game but was eventually pulled when St. Louis took the field in the fifth. The Cardinals will likely send him in for X-rays to determine whether he suffered a fracture.
Packy Naughton
Packy Naughton Suffers another arm injury
Thu, Apr 9, 2026, 9:58 AM
Naughton suffered a left arm injury during an appearance with Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Kyle Reis of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Naughton immediately grabbed his pitching arm after delivering a pitch and walked off the field with the trainer. There's no word yet on the details, but it looked like another serious arm injury for the southpaw. Naughton missed all of 2025 and most of 2024 due to a pair of elbow surgeries.
Matt Pushard
Matt Pushard Back on mound Thursday
Thu, Apr 9, 2026, 9:53 AM
Pushard (knee) will throw a 20-pitch bullpen session Thursday at moderate intensity, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Pushard threw lightly off the mound earlier this week and will up the intensity level Thursday. Working his way back from right knee patellar tendinitis, Pushard is likely to need some rehab appearances before rejoining the Cardinals' bullpen.
George Soriano
George Soriano Could earn high-leverage chances
Thu, Apr 9, 2026, 8:52 AM
Soriano could be considered for high-leverage chances in the Cardinals' bullpen moving forward, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Soriano earned his first win as a Cardinal in his last appearance Tuesday versus the Nationals, retiring all six batters he faced (three via strikeout) in the eighth and ninth innings in St. Louis' extra-inning win. The righty's velocity is up throughout his repertoire -- which includes a changeup that topped out at 92.8 mph Tuesday -- and he's incorporated a new gyro slider. Soriano was acquired via trade from the Nationals just before the start of spring training.
Alec Burleson
Alec Burleson Tallies season-high three RBI
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 9:29 PM
Burleson went 3-for-4 with a three RBI, a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
Analysis: It was the second three-hit effort of the season already for Burleson, who recorded a season-high three RBI. With Willson Contreras, Brendan Donovan and Nolan Arenado all with new clubs for 2026, Burleson has hit third in the lineup each of St. Louis' first 12 games. Overall, Burleson is hitting .273 with one homer, two doubles, 10 RBI and one stolen base over 44 at-bats.
Michael McGreevy
Michael McGreevy Six innings of one-run ball in win
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 6:01 PM
McGreevy (1-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing one run on four hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out one.
Analysis: McGreevy hardly boasted dominant stuff -- he posted just five whiffs en route fanning a lone batter -- but he kept the Washington bats guessing all afternoon. The right-hander induced a whopping 11 groundouts, also scattering four singles for his second start of the year of six innings with one run or zero allowed. McGreevey owns a promising 2.16 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB across 16.2 innings, and he has a fairly soft matchup against Cleveland slated for his next outing.
Pedro Pages
Pedro Pages Resting Wednesday
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 2:29 PM
Pages is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Washington.
Analysis: Pages will get a breather for the afternoon game after starting behind the plate in three of the Cardinals' previous four contests. Ivan Herrera will handle catching duties in the series finale.
Victor Scott II
Victor Scott II Receives day off Wednesday
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 11:47 AM
Scott is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.
Analysis: Scott will get his first day off of the season after stealing a couple of bases but doing little else offensively through the Cardinals' first 11 games, slashing .265/.265/.294 with a 0:10 BB:K. Nathan Church will grab a start in center field and bat ninth.
Jordan Walker
Jordan Walker Power surge continues
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 8:51 AM
Walker went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Nationals.
Analysis: The 23-year-old slugger took PJ Poulin deep for a solo shot in the seventh inning, kicking off a late Cardinals rally from a 5-2 deficit. It's the third homer in the last four games for Walker, a stretch in which he's racked up seven hits and eight RBI as he begins to convert his potential into real production. Through 11 contests to begin the season he's slashing .300/.364/.650 two doubles, four homers, nine runs, 11 RBI and a steal.
Riley O'Brien
Riley O'Brien Secures third save
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 8:47 AM
O'Brien allowed an unearned run while striking out two in the 10th inning Tuesday to record his third save of the season in a 7-6 win over the Nationals.
Analysis: The right-hander couldn't stop the phantom runner from coming around to score on a groundout and a wild pitch, but O'Brien fanned CJ Abrams and Nasim Nunez to lock down the victory. He's now picked up the Cardinals' last three saves and is emerging as the top option in the bullpen, with JoJo Romero and Ryne Stanek in setup roles. Through six appearances this season, O'Brien has a 0.00 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 7:0 K:BB in 6.1 innings, adding a win and two holds to his ledger.
Matthew Liberatore
Matthew Liberatore Escapes with no-decision Tuesday
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 8:43 AM
Liberatore didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Nationals, giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: The southpaw was tagged for homers by James Wood in the third inning and Curtis Mead in the fifth and exited the game with the Cardinals in a 4-2 hole, but the offense bailed him out late. Liberatore tossed 59 of 92 pitches for strikes and has lasted at least five innings in all three of his starts to begin the year, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB over 16 frames. He'll look for his first win of 2026 in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Guardians.
Jordan Walker
Jordan Walker Settling in as cleanup hitter
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 3:00 PM
Walker will start in right field and bat cleanup in Tuesday's contest against the Nationals.
Analysis: It's the third consecutive start in the cleanup spot for Walker, and all three of them have been versus right-handers. The last two of the games have come with former cleanup man Masyn Winn in the lineup, so it appears Walker is now Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol's go-to cleanup hitter. Walker slugged his third home run of the season in Monday's loss to the Nationals and is slashing .314/.385/.629 in his first 10 contests this season. He also ranks in the 99th percentile in hard-hit rate and 94th percentile in barrel rate.
Thomas Saggese
Thomas Saggese Making sixth straight start
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 2:55 PM
Saggese will start in left field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Nationals.
Analysis: It's the sixth straight start overall and second consecutive start in left field against a righty for the right-handed-batting Saggese. Saggese -- who turns 24 on Friday -- has yet to do much at the plate this season but reached base three times in Monday's series opener.
Nathan Church
Nathan Church Out of lineup again versus righty
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 2:51 PM
Church is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Nationals.
Analysis: It marks the second time in a row that the left-handed-hitting Church has been out of the lineup versus a righty. Church tallied three base knocks on Opening Day but has gone hitless over 23 plate appearances since then. Thomas Saggese is in left field again Tuesday and looks to have leap-frogged Church in the pecking order.
Ivan Herrera
Ivan Herrera Catching McGreevy and Pallante
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 9:57 AM
Herrera has served as the personal catcher for Michael McGreevy and Andre Pallante and is expected to continue doing so at least through the end of April, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The goal in having Herrera attached to two specific starters allows the Cardinals to simplify his game-planning duties and also ease his catching burden following offseason elbow surgery and a spring training knee issue. Additionally, with Herrera catching the team's two best groundball pitchers, it frees up the designated-hitter spot for Nolan Gorman and third base for a better defender in Ramon Urias. The Cardinals have been pleased with Herrera's work at catcher so far, as well as the health of his knee. If those things continue trending in a positive direction, Herrera will eventually take on additional catching responsibilities. If McGreevy and Pallante remain on the same schedule, Herrera should reach 10 games at catcher on April 24, which is the in-season eligibility threshold on most fantasy platforms.
Ramon Urias
Ramon Urias Swats second homer
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 10:27 PM
Urias went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Monday's loss to the Nationals.
Analysis: It was the second homer of the season for Urias, totaled a season-high three RBI on Monday. The infielder is still likely to see most of his playing time versus left-handers going forward despite drawing a start against right-hander Zack Littell, as JJ Wetherholt and Nolan Gorman figure to see the bulk of the reps at second and third base, respectively, in 2026.
Andre Pallante
Andre Pallante Lacks control in no-decision
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 10:15 PM
Pallante didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: After throwing five scoreless innings against the Mets in his season debut, Pallante ran into some tougher sledding Monday. While he did hold the Nationals to just three knocks, the right-hander walked at least four batters for the ninth time in his career. The 27-year-old right-hander boasts a 1.80 ERA through 10 innings so far, but his 5:7 K:BB is a far greater concern heading into his next scheduled outing versus the Red Sox.
