J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Managing shoulder issue
Wed, Feb 25, 2026, 9:31 AM
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Wednesday that Crawford is tending to a shoulder issue and is expected to make his Cactus League debut at some point next week, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Wilson downplayed any concern about Crawford's availability for Opening Day, noting instead that the Mariners are merely taking a cautious approach with the shortstop in the early stages of spring training. Crawford's absence from the lineup in the Mariners' initial Cactus League games will open up more opportunities for top prospect Colt Emerson to see some reps at shortstop, though Emerson still appears likely to open the season at Triple-A Tacoma.
Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez Red hot to start spring
Wed, Feb 25, 2026, 9:29 AM
Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's Cactus League game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Rodriguez hasn't shown any signs of rust to start the spring -- the outfielder is now 4-for-7 with a pair of doubles in his first three Cactus League games. Rodriguez should continue to see regular at-bats with the Mariners early in the spring before he reports to the World Baseball Classic with the Dominican Republic. Rodriguez slashed .267/.324/.474 during the 2025 regular season while joining the 30-30 club for the second time in his career, logging 32 homers and 30 stolen bases.
George Kirby
George Kirby Shaky to start spring
Wed, Feb 25, 2026, 8:40 AM
Kirby allowed two runs on two hits and a walk across 1.1 innings in Tuesday's Cactus League matchup with the White Sox. He struck out one.
Analysis: It was a tough start to the spring for Kirby in his first Cactus League outing. The right-hander gave up a two-out run on a Lenyn Sosa double in the first inning before he was charged with two more runs after departing with one out in the second. Kirby is looking to rebound from an up-and-down 2025 campaign in which he posted a career-worst 4.21 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and 137:29 K:BB across 23 regular-season starts (126 innings).
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Two hits in spring debut
Wed, Feb 25, 2026, 8:33 AM
Donovan made his Cactus League debut Tuesday against the White Sox. He started at third base and went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
Analysis: It's an encouraging start to the spring for Donovan, who's expected to open the year as Seattle's primary third baseman and leadoff hitter. Donovan, who was acquired from St. Louis earlier in February, slashed .287/.353/.422 with 10 homers across 118 games in 2025.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Launches first spring homer
Wed, Feb 25, 2026, 8:28 AM
Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer in Tuesday's Cactus League game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Raleigh tied the game 3-3 in the third inning with a 427-foot blast off Wikelman Gonzalez, his first homer of the spring. Raleigh is looking to build on a historic 2025, when he posted a .948 OPS with 60 home runs across 705 regular-season plate appearances, ultimately finishing second to Aaron Judge in the MVP race. Raleigh should see regular at-bats with the Mariners early in the spring before reporting to Team USA for the World Baseball Classic.
Brendan White
Brendan White Lands with M's
Tue, Feb 24, 2026, 8:31 PM
White signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Saturday.
Analysis: White struggled to find his footing in the minors last year, posting a 7.24 ERA and 1.90 WHIP across 32.1 innings with Detroit's Triple-A affiliate before being released by the club in July. He'll get a chance to redeem himself with the Mariners, though he will most likely be used as bullpen depth at Triple-A Tacoma.
Jose A. Ferrer
Jose A. Ferrer Stumbles to start spring
Tue, Feb 24, 2026, 9:34 AM
Ferrer was charged with the loss in Monday's Cactus League matchup with the Dodgers. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one in one-third of an inning.
Analysis: It certainly wasn't the ideal start to the spring for Ferrer. The lefty struck out Andy Pages to open the frame before surrendering three straight hits, including a pair of doubles, followed by a walk and a wild pitch. The Mariners are hoping that Ferrer can shake off the rust before Opening Day, as he's expected to play a key role in the back end of their bullpen. Ferrer was traded to Seattle in December after posting a 4.48 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP and 71:16 K:BB across 76.1 innings with the Nationals in 2025.
Brennen Davis
Brennen Davis Homers in spring debut
Mon, Feb 23, 2026, 9:24 AM
Davis went 1-for-1 with a three-run homer, two walks and a second run scored in Sunday's Cactus League matchup versus the Reds.
Analysis: Davis capped a six-run ninth inning with his three-run shot off right-hander Irvin Machuca, extending Seattle's lead to 14-8. It was a strong day at the plate overall for the 26-year-old Davis, who reached base safely in all three of his at-bats. Still, the one-time top prospect is a long shot to make the Mariners' Opening Day roster, after joining the team as a non-roster invitee in December. However, Davis had a solid 2025 campaign with Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre, posting a .900 OPS with 12 homers across 36 games.
Miles Mastrobuoni
Miles Mastrobuoni Smacks grand slam in spring debut
Sun, Feb 22, 2026, 10:50 AM
Mastrobuoni went 2-for-2 with a double and a grand slam in Saturday's Cactus League matchup with the Giants.
Analysis: It was a strong start to the spring for Mastrobuoni, who got the start in left field Saturday. He put the Mariners ahead early with his first-inning grand slam off Hayden Birdsong. Mastrobuoni, who hit just one home run while posting a .620 OPS in 175 plate appearances last season, has a shot to make Seattle's Opening Day roster as a bench option thanks to his positional versatility.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Issues following tooth removal
Sun, Feb 22, 2026, 10:42 AM
Brash had a tooth removed last week and there have been some issues since then, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: After spending a few days at home recovering from the procedure, Brash checked back in with the training staff Saturday and "looked to be very uncomfortable," per Divish. It doesn't sound like anything that could affect Brash's Opening Day availability, but his spring debut will be on hold until he's feeling better.
Mitch Garver
Mitch Garver Inks minor-league deal with Seattle
Wed, Feb 18, 2026, 6:24 PM
The Mariners signed Garver to a minor-league contract Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Garver spent the last two seasons with the Mariners serving as the team's backup catcher to Cal Raleigh. Garver will get a chance to reprise that role for the 2026 campaign, and he'll face competition from Jhonny Pereda and Andrew Knizner in spring training. Garver appeared in 87 regular-season games for Seattle in 2025 and slashed .209/.297/.343 with three steals, nine home runs and 30 RBI across 290 plate appearances.
Logan Evans
Logan Evans Lands on 60-day injured list
Mon, Feb 16, 2026, 12:43 PM
The Mariners placed Evans (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Josh Simpson, who was acquired via trade with the Marlins on Monday. Evans will miss the entire 2026 season after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace in January.
Josh Simpson
Josh Simpson Shipped to Seattle
Mon, Feb 16, 2026, 12:42 PM
The Mariners acquired Simpson from the Marlins on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.
Analysis: Simpson reached the big leagues for the first time in 2025 but was unable to work his way into a high-leverage role with Miami after submitting a 7.34 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 30.2 innings. The southpaw yielded five home runs over 31 appearances and walked 14.6 percent of the batters he faced, but he generated ground balls at a high rate (59.6 percent) and struck out hitters at a decent clip (23.8 percent). Seattle recognized enough potential in Simpson to bring him aboard as an extra left-handed option out of the bullpen and opened up a 40-man roster spot for him by placing Logan Evans (elbow) on the 60-day injured list.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Elbow feeling 100 percent
Mon, Feb 16, 2026, 10:17 AM
Miller said Monday that he hasn't dealt with any discomfort in his right elbow this offseason and the elbow "feels 100 percent" early in spring training, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Miller had two stints on the injured list last season due to a bone spur in his right elbow, but after a consultation this offseason with Dr. Keith Meister, the 27-year-old was able to avoid surgery. Though the elbow could give him trouble again at some point during the upcoming season, Miller looks to be in a good spot on the health front for the time being. He'll be looking to bounce back in 2026 after collecting a 5.68 ERA and 74:34 K:BB over 90.1 innings during the regular season in 2025.
Ryan Bliss
Ryan Bliss No apparent restrictions
Thu, Feb 12, 2026, 11:49 AM
Bliss (knee/biceps) went through a full infield workout and was scheduled to hit Thursday in Mariners camp, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Bliss missed virtually all of the 2025 season, first due to April biceps surgery and later a September meniscus tear. However, it would seem he has been cleared to participate fully at the beginning of spring training. The 26-year-old is theoretically in the mix for the second-base job, but it's likely he will begin the season at Triple-A Tacoma as he knocks off some rust.
Jhonathan Diaz
Jhonathan Diaz Invited to spring training
Wed, Feb 11, 2026, 9:19 AM
Diaz was added to the Mariners' spring training roster as a non-roster invitee.
Analysis: Diaz was designated for assignment and outrighted to Triple-A in January, when the Mariners acquired Cooper Criswell. The left-hander will likely be a depth option for Seattle's bullpen this season, although he isn't guaranteed a spot on the Opening Day roster. He made just one big-league appearance in 2025.
Connor Joe
Connor Joe Links up with Seattle
Tue, Feb 10, 2026, 2:53 PM
Joe agreed to a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Tuesday that includes an invite to big-league spring training.
Analysis: Joe split last season between San Diego and Cincinnati, posting a .186/.262/.243 slash line in 42 games before being outrighted off the Reds' 40-man roster in August. The 33-year-old offers some defensive versatility but is likely a longshot to make Seattle's Opening Day roster.
Cole Young
Cole Young Remains favorite for 2B job
Thu, Feb 5, 2026, 1:26 PM
Young "would have to struggle mightily to lose his grip on the second-base job," Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: New acquisition Brendan Donovan's primary position has been second base, but he will enter spring training slated to see most of his action in 2026 at third base. Young put up just a .607 OPS in 257 plate appearances during his rookie season, but he is only 22 and the Mariners remain high on his long-term potential. If Young stumbles, Seattle could consider shifting Donovan over to second base and installing Colt Emerson at the hot corner.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Likely to play third base
Thu, Feb 5, 2026, 1:20 PM
The Mariners tentatively plan for Donovan to be their primary third baseman in 2026 but will move him around the diamond based on matchups, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Cole Young is the favorite to start at second base, though if Colt Emerson outplays him in spring training, the Mariners could go with Emerson at third base and Donovan at second. Donovan is also expected to bat leadoff against both righties and lefties. Acquired from the Cardinals in a trade earlier this week, Donovan sported a .287/.353/.422 batting line with 10 home runs and 32 doubles over 118 contests last season.
Emerson Hancock
Emerson Hancock Entering spring as starting pitcher
Mon, Feb 2, 2026, 4:39 PM
Hancock will enter spring training as a starting pitcher, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Hancock was moved to the bullpen last August, but with Logan Evans (elbow) out for the season, the Mariners want to have Hancock available to start, if needed. If the Mariners' rotation is healthy on Opening Day, Hancock will likely shift back to a relief role. He allowed four runs (two earned) with a 4:1 K:BB over 8.2 innings as a reliever in 2025.
