J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Three hits Sunday
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 6:27 AM
Crawford went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-2 win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Crawford extended Seattle's lead to 3-0 in the second inning with his two-out, two-run double off Ian Seymour before adding a third RBI with his second double in the ninth. It's a nice way to head into the All-Star break for Crawford, who'd gone 13 games without an RBI prior to Sunday -- he went 8-for-52 (.154) with a .453 OPS over that span. Overall, Crawford is slashing .218/.334/.359 with 10 homers, 38 runs scored, 28 RBI and one steal through 335 plate appearances this season.
Emerson Hancock
Emerson Hancock X-rays return negative
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 4:10 PM
Hancock had X-rays come back negative on his palm and middle finger after leaving Sunday's start against the Giants, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Hancock was struck by a comebacker during the first frame Sunday and was pulled from the contest with two outs in the second inning. It appears as though the right-hander escaped with a bruise and should avoid a trip to the injured list. If the Mariners want to give Hancock some extra time to recover coming out of the All-Star break, they could simply slot him into the back end of the rotation rather than have him pitch in the first series of the second half against the Giants next weekend.
Emerson Hancock
Emerson Hancock Exits with apparent injury
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 1:25 PM
Hancock was removed from Sunday's start against the Rays with an apparent hand injury, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: The right-hander remained in the game after being struck in the hand by a comebacker during the opening frame, but he was lifted after issuing a two-out walk in the second inning. The specifics of the injury aren't clear, but the Mariners could provide more information in the near future. For now, the 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley Heading to bench Sunday
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 12:45 PM
Raley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: With southpaw Ian Seymour on the bump for the Rays, the left-handed-hitting Raley will take a seat for the first time since June 30. Weston Wilson will get the nod in right field in place of Raley, who went 5-for-30 with a 0:11 BB:K while starting the Mariners' first nine games of the month.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone On bench for first-half finale
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 10:34 AM
Canzone is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: Mariners president Jerry Dipoto indicated Tuesday that Canzone would no longer operate as a platoon player, but he'll still hit the bench Sunday while lefty Ian Seymour takes the mound for Tampa Bay. Cal Raleigh is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Mitch Garver starts behind the plate.
Colt Emerson
Colt Emerson Taking seat Sunday
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 10:31 AM
Emerson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: The rookie shortstop has gone 3-for-25 with 12 strikeouts through his first eight contests in July and will hit the bench Sunday for the second time in Seattle's past three games. Barring an appearance off the bench. Emerson will close the first half of the season with seven homers, three steals, 20 RBI, 17 runs and a .201/.275/.396 slash line in 45 games.
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Yields four runs in Saturday's loss
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 7:36 PM
Gilbert (7-6) took the loss against the Rays on Saturday, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out five across 6.2 innings.
Analysis: Gilbert was one hit shy from matching a career-high allowed that he set in August of 2022 against the Yankees. He limited the Rays to two runs through six innings and was in line for the quality start, but he allowed two baserunners in the seventh before being pulled, both of whom scored on a three-run homer from Ryan Vilade. Gilbert has yielded four earned runs in two of his last three starts and enters the All-Star break with a 3.32 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119:24 K:BB across 114 innings.
Nabbed in Round 4
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 6:11 PM
The Mariners selected Lucas with the No. 129 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Lucas was unranked by MLB Pipeline coming into the night, but he had a strong statistical season for UNC Wilmington. The third baseman slashed .312/.429/.556 with 12 homers, nine steals and more walks than strikeouts in 58 games this spring.
Third-round pick by Seattle
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 5:34 PM
The Mariners selected Taylor with the No. 101 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: At Cincinnati, the 6-foot-5 right-hander was all-Big 12 in each of his three seasons. The slider is likely his best pitch. Taylor also showed the ability to shoulder a heavy workload during his collegiate career.
Going to Seattle
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 4:10 PM
The Mariners selected Brown with the No. 65 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: A 6-foot-2 lefty hitter from LSU, Brown was an even better high school pitching prospect coming out of Louisiana than Kade Anderson a few years ago, but he now projects as a potential 20/20 center fielder. He slashed .309/.404/.642 with 16 home runs, nine steals and a 16.5 percent strikeout rate as a junior.
Lands with Mariners in first round
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 2:40 PM
The Mariners selected Reese with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: A power-over-hit left-handed slugger from Mississippi State, Reese most recently played third base but could slide to the bottom of the defensive spectrum. He measures in at a sturdy 6-foot-4, 220 pounds with a somewhat lumbering gait, but he has a chance to provide enough offensive impact to make up for his poor athleticism and defense. Reese hit 45 homers in 119 games over the past two seasons after transferring from Houston after his freshman season. He logged an .846 OPS with a wood bat last summer in the Cape Cod League and he had an OPS over 1.100 against righties and lefties this spring. There's a chance his aggressive approach gets exposed at the higher levels of the minors, but Reese could be an everyday first baseman/designated hitter in a couple years if his swing decisions are adequate.
Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez Not expected to play this weekend
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 3:36 PM
Rodriguez (concussion) is not expected to be activated from the 7-day injured list for this weekend's series against the Rays, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Rodriguez is eligible to come off the injured list Friday, but he's already not in the lineup for the series opener against the Rays, and it sounds like he's going to take the entire weekend set along with the All-Star break to rest up before the second half of the season. Luke Raley is starting in center field and batting sixth for Seattle against right-hander Nick Martinez on Friday.
Colt Emerson
Colt Emerson Not in lineup Friday
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 2:04 PM
Emerson is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: It appears to be a routine day off for the 20-year-old infielder after making 15 consecutive starts. Emerson is slashing just .206/.282/.404 with seven long balls, 19 RBI, 17 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 13:54 BB:K across his first 156 big-league plate appearances. With Emerson getting the night off, J.P. Crawford is manning shortstop and leading off for the Mariners, while Buddy Kennedy bats ninth and plays third base.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Swipes two more bags
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 6:52 AM
Naylor went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: Naylor, who extended his hitting streak to five games Thursday, now has three stolen bases in his last two games. He's up to 18 steals in 21 attempts this year, putting him well in range to pass his career-high of 30 set last season. At the plate, Naylor's managed a .251/.312/.353 slash line with eight homers, 36 RBI and 34 runs scored across 375 plate appearances.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Homers in loss
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 6:48 AM
Canzone went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: Canzone cut Miami's lead to 8-4 in the eighth inning with a 421-foot blast off William Kempner, his 15th homer this season. Canzone, who's been batting third of late in Seattle's order as their regular DH against right-handed pitching, has gone 6-for-22 with two homers and five RBI in his last five games. Overall, he's slashing .269/.341/.543 with 39 RBI, 33 runs scored and a steal across 246 plate appearances.
George Kirby
George Kirby Takes hard-luck loss
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 8:43 PM
Kirby (7-8) took the loss Wednesday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on eight hits across six innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: It was another strong outing from Kirby, who's now held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last three outings, though he'd ultimately come away with the loss as Seattle failed to generate any run support in a 3-0 defeat. Kirby's turned in five straight quality starts, allowing 11 earned runs across 32 innings in that span. The right-hander will head into the All-Star break with a 3.76 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 98:24 K:BB across 18 starts (110 innings) this year.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Closing in on rehab assignment
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 3:20 PM
Donovan (groin) will work out Wednesday for a second straight day at the Mariners' spring training complex before starting a rehab assignment later this week if all goes well, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Previous reports suggested Donovan would begin playing in rehab games in the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday. That's been pushed back a couple days, but Donovan should still have a good chance to be activated immediately after the All-Star break. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since mid-May with a left groin strain.
Cole Young
Cole Young Smacks 10th homer of 2026
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 9:43 PM
Young went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during the Mariners' 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.
Analysis: Young cut the Mariners' deficit to 4-2 in the fifth inning after taking Max Meyer deep for a solo home run to right field. Young is up to 10 home runs on the season and has gone 11-for-35 (.314) with three home runs, five RBI and eight runs scored over his last 10 games.
Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Yields nine hits in no-decision
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 9:40 PM
Woo did not factor into Tuesday's decision against the Marlins, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk while striking out five across five innings.
Analysis: The nine hits Woo allowed to Miami matched a season high that he set twice prior to Monday's outing. He was on the hook for the loss before his Mariners teammates came through with a three-run eighth inning. Woo has yielded at least three earned runs in five of his last eight outings, and he now sits at a 4.23 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 102:20 K:BB across 104.1 innings this season. Woo's next outing figures to be after the All-Star break, seeing as the Mariners are deploying a six-man rotation.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Shedding platoon role
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 12:33 PM
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto indicated Tuesday that Canzone will have a full-time spot in the middle of the lineup going forward, regardless of the handedness of the opposing starting pitcher, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Canzone has only four starts against left-handed pitching this season, but all four of those games have come in the past month. The 28-year-old has just 29 plate appearances versus southpaws this year, but his .994 OPS against them is apparently enough for Seattle to give him a chance as a true everyday player. Canzone had an .839 OPS in 82 regular-season games as a platoon outfielder in 2025, and he appears firmly on his way to a true breakout season with a .273/.349/.551 slash line and career-high 14 homers through 232 plate appearances thus far in 2026.
