Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Stuck with first loss
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 4:40 PM
Woo (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: Woo pitched well for the most part Wednesday, holding Texas off the board through four innings. However, he'd run into trouble in the fifth, allowing three consecutive one-out hits before allowing a pair of runs on a Connor Joe error. The Rangers would tack on a third run in the frame on a Corey Seager sacrifice fly. While he remains without a win through three starts, Woo's gotten off to another strong start in 2026, allowing just three earned runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out 17 over 18 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Padres on the road in his next outing.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley Idle against left-hander
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 12:26 PM
Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: After starting in each of the Mariners' last four games and going 3-for-14 with a double and a 1:8 BB:K, Raley will retreat to the bench for the series finale. Each of those four starts came against right-handed pitching, but the left-handed-hitting Raley will likely be held out of the lineup more often than not when Seattle faces southpaws. Rob Refsnyder will replace Raley in right field Wednesday while lefty MacKenzie Gore takes the hill for Texas.
Leo Rivas
Leo Rivas Playing time trending down
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 12:23 PM
Rivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Rivas had drawn starts at either shortstop or third base in 10 of the Mariners' first 11 games, but he'll remain on the bench for a second day in a row as Seattle closes out its series in Arlington. With J.P. Crawford recently returning from a stint on the injured list and expected to handle a near-everyday role at shortstop moving forward, Rivas' opportunities will likely be limited now that Seattle has all of its key infielders available.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Handed off day Wednesday
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 12:20 PM
Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: With southpaw MacKenzie Gore on the bump for Texas in an afternoon game after a night game, the Mariners will give the left-handed-hitting Naylor his first day off of the season. Connor Joe was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday and will immediately enter the starting nine as Naylor's replacement at first base.
Carlos Vargas
Carlos Vargas Moved to 60-day IL
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 11:17 AM
The Mariners transferred Vargas (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
Analysis: The transaction will clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe, who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma. Vargas has been out all season while recuperating from a right lat strain and now won't be eligible to return until late May. It's not clear whether Vargas has resumed throwing or remains shut down.
Victor Robles
Victor Robles Shelved with pec strain
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 11:12 AM
The Mariners placed Robles on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right pectoral strain.
Analysis: Robles had served as Seattle's fourth outfielder to begin the season, starting in four of the team's first 12 games while going 3-for-13 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI. According to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, Robles suffered the pec injury while making longer throws to the bases from the outfield as he was warming up prior to Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers. Seattle called up Connor Joe from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move to provide the bench with another right-handed-hitting option while Robles is on the shelf.
Connor Joe
Connor Joe Contract selected
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 11:12 AM
The Mariners selected Joe's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
Analysis: He'll assume the roster spot vacated by Victor Robles (pectoral), who landed on the 10-day injured list. The right-handed-hitting Joe has a solid .247/.344/.401 career batting line versus left-handed pitching and should see some playing time versus southpaws with the Mariners.
George Kirby
George Kirby Tosses eight innings, takes loss
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 9:52 PM
Kirby (1-2) took the loss against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four across eight innings. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: Kirby ended up being the only pitcher deployed by the Mariners during Tuesday's game, tossing 68 strikes in 90 pitches (75.6 percent) while inducing 12 groundouts. He kept the Rangers off the board for the majority of his start but gave up three runs in the fifth inning, including a two-run homer to Kyle Higashioka that was enough for Kirby to take the loss after the Mariners batters failed to generate any more runs. Kirby has recorded a quality start in each of his first three appearances of the season and has a 3.60 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB across 20 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, which is slated for next week at home against the Astros.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Belts leadoff homer Tuesday
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 9:46 PM
Donovan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk during the Mariners' 3-2 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.
Analysis: Donovan wasted no time getting the Mariners on the board, taking the first pitch of the game from Nathan Eovaldi deep to right field for a solo long shot. It was Donovan's third home run of the season, and he appears to be past the groin injury that caused him to miss the Mariners' final two games of the weekend series against the Angels. He has gone 12-for-35 (.343) with a steal and five RBI to open the season.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Hitting bench Monday
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 3:41 PM
Crawford is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: After making his return from the injured list Friday, Crawford proceeded to start at shortstop in all three of the Mariners' games against the Angels over the weekend while going 1-for-10 with a double, three walks and a run scored. At least until the Mariners are ready to promote top prospect Colt Emerson (foot) to the big leagues, Crawford should have a fairly firm hold on the everyday shortstop gig, though the veteran will get a breather as Seattle opens its series in Arlington. Leo Rivas will slide over to shortstop Monday after covering third base Saturday and Sunday while Brendan Donovan tended to a groin injury.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Rejoining lineup Monday
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 3:37 PM
Donovan (groin) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Donovan was held out of the lineup for the final two games of the Mariners' weekend series versus the Angels due to a left groin injury, but a couple days of rest appears to be all he needed to move past the issue. Leo Rivas had manned third base Saturday and Sunday but will slide back over to shortstop while Donovan slots back in at the hot corner.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Blows save opportunity
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 10:48 PM
Brash blew the save Sunday against the Angels, allowing one unearned run while striking out one in one inning.
Analysis: After entering the 10th inning with a one run lead, Brash was charged with a blown save in his first opportunity of the season, as the Angels capitalized on the extra-innings placed runner. Following a successful bunt that moved the runner over, Logan O'Hoppe lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home the tying run. While the 27-year-old has yet to allow an earned run this season and has recorded four strikeouts across his first four appearances, this marked Brash's first slip in a high-leverage spot.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Struggles in no-decision
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 10:10 PM
Castillo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Angels, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out four over 3.2 innings.
Analysis: Castillo couldn't find a rhythm in this one, allowing at least two baserunners in every inning he worked and exiting before completing four frames for the first time since 2024. The right-hander ran into trouble immediately, allowing a leadoff double to Zach Neto before Jorge Soler brought him home with an RBI single, and the outing didn't improve much from there. Unlike his dominant Opening Day outing in which he tossed six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, Castillo failed to fool hitters Sunday and was consistently pitching under pressure. The 33-year-old will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against Houston, though it presents a tough test against one of the league's most productive offenses early in 2026.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Not starting Sunday
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 1:53 PM
Donovan (groin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: The 28-year-old departed Friday's contest due to a groin issue and will be held out of the lineup Sunday for a second straight game. Donovan had medical imaging come back clean, so he could rejoin the starting nine within the next couple days. Leo Rivas is receiving another start at third base Sunday for Seattle.

Brendan Donovan Feeling good, imaging clean
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 7:28 PM
Donovan (groin) said Saturday that he was feeling good and that his imaging came back clean, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Donovan landed awkwardly on the first-base bag Friday while attempting to leg out an infield single, which led to his departure from the contest. He underwent imaging but suggested it was mostly precautionary after he underwent sports hernia surgery at the end of last season. While Donovan was held out of the lineup Saturday, he went through agility work pregame and doesn't currently appear in danger of missing extended time.

Brendan Donovan Undergoes imaging, still day-to-day
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 6:34 PM
Donovan (groin) underwent imaging Saturday and remains day-to-day for the time being, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Seattle's medical staff will go over the results of the imaging, at which point the team will have a better idea of the situation. Per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com, manager Dan Wilson said Donovan was moving around well Saturday after the injury forced the second baseman from Friday's game. Donovan was off to a great start to begin his Mariners career, going 10-for-27 with two homers and a stolen base in eight games.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Absent from lineup
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 5:20 PM
Donovan (leg) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game verus the Angels.
Analysis: Donovan injured his left leg while attempting to turn a groundout into an infield single, and the Mariners will hold him out of Saturday's game to give him a chance to recover. Leo Rivas will man the hot corner in Donovan's stead and bat ninth.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Hitless in return to lineup
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 9:03 AM
Crawford went 0-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts in his season debut Friday against the Angels.
Analysis: After missing the first week of the season with a shoulder issue, Crawford was activated from the injured list ahead of Friday's series opener against Los Angeles. Crawford walked in the seventh inning but was picked off first base by Reid Detmers. The Mariners have said Crawford remains the team's everyday shortstop despite signing top prospect Colt Emerson to an eight-year, $95 million extension earlier in the week.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor First two RBI of season in win
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 8:51 AM
Naylor went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Friday's 3-1 win over the Angels.
Analysis: Naylor entered play Friday with one hit and zero RBI across 30 plate appearances, so his two-run single in the 10th inning to plate Cole Young and Julio Rodriguez had to have felt good for the first baseman. Naylor struggled through the spring and World Baseball Classic with Team Canada, but perhaps Friday's two-hit, two-RBI game will help him get on track. He's slashing .094/.171/.094 through eight games.
Gabe Speier
Gabe Speier Secures save Friday
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 8:45 AM
Speier picked up his first save of the season Friday against the Angels, allowing one unearned run with no hits or walks while striking out one across one inning.
Analysis: Speier came on to pitch the 10th inning after Andres Munoz pitched a scoreless ninth inning in a tie game. Speier allowed the designated runner, Oswald Peraza, to score following a groundout and sacrifice fly but closed the door by striking out Yoan Moncada. Speier has a 5.40 ERA and 4:0 K:BB across 3.1 innings to begin the season.
