Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Leaves yard Sunday
Mon, Apr 28, 2025, 4:18 AM
Raleigh went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Marlins.
Analysis: Raleigh's first and only hit of the afternoon came in the opening frame with a deep fly to right versus Max Meyer. All three of his RBI over the last week have come from the home run ball. He's batted only .179 over that span, though four of his five hits have gone for extra bases. Raleigh has now jumped back up to a tie with Eugenio Suarez atop the league with 10 home runs and has 17 RBI to go with it.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Homers in Sunday's win
Mon, Apr 28, 2025, 4:12 AM
Crawford went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Marlins.
Analysis: Crawford had a deep blast to right-center field in the fifth to extend the Mariners' lead and ultimately give them just enough runs to put away the Marlins. Crawford now has at least a hit in seven straight games and multiple hits four times in his last six contests. He's also hit safely in 13-of-15 games since April 9. For the season, the 30-year-old is slashing .277/.412/.373 with two homers, 12 RBI, 15 runs and an 18:21 BB:K in 104 plate appearances.
Andres Munoz
Andres Munoz Up to 10 saves
Mon, Apr 28, 2025, 4:06 AM
Munoz earned the save in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Marlins, tossing a perfect ninth inning while recording a strikeout.
Analysis: Munoz retired the top of the Marlins' order on nine pitches to pick up his 10th save and move into a tie with Robert Suarez atop the league. Munoz hasn't let up a run all season while sporting an 0.79 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB in 14 innings.
Donovan Solano
Donovan Solano First extra-base hit this season
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 8:57 PM
Solano went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's win over Miami.
Analysis: Solano, who stepped in at first base for the injured Rowdy Tellez (hand), recorded his first extra-base hit of the campaign Sunday. After batting a strong .286 over 283 regular-season at-bats last year with the Padres, Solano hasn't been able to carve out a steady role for his new team in 2025. The journeyman infielder should handle the bulk of the reps at the cold corner until Tellez is ready to rejoin Seattle's lineup, but Solano is hitting a dreadful .114 (5-for-44) with one RBI and one run scored across 18 outings so far.
George Kirby
George Kirby Slated for live BP
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 6:49 PM
Kirby (shoulder) will throw a live batting practice Monday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Kirby will face live hitters for the first time since being shut down with right shoulder inflammation March 7. The right-hander will need a substantial build up before making his return to the Mariners' rotation, but Monday's session is a substantial step in his recovery. Kirby produced a 3.53 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a career-high 179 strikeouts over 191 innings in 33 starts last season, and when healthy, he'll provide Seattle with a valuable addition to their big-league club.
Ben Williamson
Ben Williamson Managing back spasms
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 3:33 PM
Williamson was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins due to back spasms, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old woke up with back spasms after going 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run during Saturday's contest, so he didn't start at third base as initially expected. Williamson will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing more time.
Ben Williamson
Ben Williamson Scratched Sunday
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 2:34 PM
Williamson was removed from Sunday's lineup against the Marlins for unspecified reasons, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old is presumably dealing with injury after initially being penciled in to start at third base, but no reason has been provided for his absence yet. Williamson has gone 8-for-19 with a double, five RBI and five runs during a five-game hit streak.
Tayler Saucedo
Tayler Saucedo Returns to Triple-A
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 1:50 PM
The Mariners optioned Saucedo to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.
Analysis: The left-hander was called up by Seattle on Saturday and will return to Tacoma after firing a scoreless inning during a 14-0 victory. Saucedo has given up four earned runs in his four major-league outings this year and is unlikely to fill more than a middle-relief role if he receives another look with the Mariners.
Rowdy Tellez
Rowdy Tellez Late scratch Sunday
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 1:45 PM
Tellez (hand) was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Tellez had X-rays on his left hand come back negative after being hit by a pitch Saturday, but he'll still end up sitting out at least one game after initially being listed on the lineup card. Donovan Solano will step in at first base for the Mariners in the series finale.
Rowdy Tellez
Rowdy Tellez Good to go Sunday
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 1:26 PM
Tellez (hand) is starting at first base and batting sixth Sunday against the Marlins.
Analysis: The 30-year-old exited Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch on the left hand, but he's back in the lineup Sunday after X-rays came back negative. Tellez has found his power stroke over the past couple weeks and has a .316/.435/.842 slash line with three homers in his past nine games.
Ben Williamson
Ben Williamson Drives in four runs
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 7:59 AM
Williamson went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored during Saturday's 14-0 win against the Mariners.
Analysis: The 24-year-old has been operating as Seattle's primary third baseman with Jorge Polanco being limited to designated hitter, and Williamson delivered the first multi-RBI performance of his MLB career in Saturday's blowout. He has a .785 OPS for the season and has gone 8-for-19 during a modest five-game hit streak.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Fires six scoreless frames
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 4:47 AM
Castillo (3-2) earned the win against the Marlins on Saturday after giving up one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: After giving up 10 hits to Toronto in his previous start, Castillo limited Miami to a third-inning single to secure his second consecutive victory. It's a small sample size of six starts, but the right-hander's average fastball velocity of 94.9 mph, and a 7.8 K/9 this season would be the lowest of his big-league career. Still, Castillo has been mostly effective early in 2025 with a 3.62 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB across 32.1 innings.
Jorge Polanco
Jorge Polanco Clubs two homers in blowout win
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 4:39 AM
Polanco went 2-for-4 with a walk, two solo home runs and an additional run scored in Saturday's 14-0 win against Miami.
Analysis: The 31-year-old went deep in the first and fourth innings Saturday and now has four long balls in his past four games. Despite being limited to hitting from the left side and not being able to play the field due to a lingering side injury, Polanco has continued his hot start to the campaign and has a .354/.377/.708 slash line with seven homers, 18 RBI and 10 runs in 70 plate appearances.
Dylan Moore
Dylan Moore Idle Saturday
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 5:23 PM
Moore isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.
Analysis: Moore will take a seat Saturday after going 4-for-18 with two homers, three RBI and five runs scored over his last five games. His absence will open up the keystone for Miles Mastrobuoni to start while batting eighth.
Troy Taylor
Troy Taylor Recalled from Triple-A
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 5:00 PM
The Mariners recalled Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.
Analysis: Taylor has made one appearance for the Mariners this season, during which he surrendered three runs without recording a single out. He also owns a 10.13 ERA in Triple-A, so he'll almost certainly be limited to low-leverage work while with Seattle. He'll come up from the minors alongside Tayler Saucedo to replace Logan Gilbert (elbow), who landed on the injured list Saturday, and Casey Lawrence, who was designated for assignment.
Casey Lawrence
Casey Lawrence DFA'd by Seattle
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 4:59 PM
The Mariners designated Lawrence for assignment Saturday.
Analysis: It's the third time Lawrence has been DFA'd by the Mariners since his contract was initially selected from Triple-A Tacoma on April 9. He's appeared in four games for Seattle and has a 3.60 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 10 innings. Lawrence was outrighted to Tacoma after the first two times he was DFA'd by the Mariners and will likely follow the same route this time around unless a team opts to claim him off waivers.
Tayler Saucedo
Tayler Saucedo Up from Tacoma
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 4:55 PM
The Mariners recalled Saucedo from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.
Analysis: Saucedo was sent to the minors in early April after allowing four earned runs in just 2.2 innings. Since then, he's given up only one run in 6.1 frames at Tacoma, and he'll now rejoin the Mariners' bullpen to give depth to a pitching staff that is now without Logan Gilbert (elbow).
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Lands on IL with elbow strain
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 4:48 PM
The Mariners placed Gilbert on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a right elbow flexor strain.
Analysis: Gilbert underwent an MRI on Saturday which revealed a Grade 1 flexor strain, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. The good news is that the injury strain isn't more severe, but Gilbert will not throw for the next two weeks before being re-evaluated to determine the next steps in his recovery program.
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Battling forearm tightness
Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 9:49 PM
Gilbert was removed from his start Friday against the Marlins due to right forearm tightness.
Analysis: Gilbert made it through three perfect innings before his forearm forced him to depart early, striking out three batters in the process. Two off days for the Mariners within the next week will give the 27-year-old extra time to recover before he's due to start again, but future updates from the team will help determine if he'll be able to do so.
Victor Robles
Victor Robles May avoid surgery
Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 6:19 PM
Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Friday that Robles' shoulder is healing as hoped and the 27-year-old outfielder could avoid surgery, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Robles suffered a small fracture in the humeral head of his left shoulder in early April, which was severe enough for him to be transferred from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. The good news for Robles is that he is healing enough that surgery may be off the table, making a mid-summer timeline for his return feasible. He was slashing .273/.283/.341 with three stolen bases and three RBI in 46 plate appearances before his injury.
