Miles Mastrobuoni
Miles Mastrobuoni Suffered calf injury in WBC
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 5:29 PM
Mastrobuoni will return to spring training after suffering a calf injury during Team Italy's win over Team USA in the World Baseball Classic on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Analysis: The severity of Mastrobuoni's injury will likely be revealed once the Mariners' medical staff gets a chance to look at him. The 30-year-old infielder had been having a strong spring before his injury, going 4-for-15 with a grand slam through seven Cactus League games, and he went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI with Team Italy.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Bullpen session scrapped
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 2:02 PM
Miller did not throw a bullpen session as scheduled Wednesday because his left oblique didn't feel right, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Miller had been slated to throw his first full-effort bullpen sessions since he felt inflammation in his left oblique in late February. Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that the right-hander does not need to be completely shut down from throwing. However, Miller will have to revert back to flat-ground work, and he is increasingly unlikely to be available for the start of the regular season.
Blas Castano
Blas Castano Optioned to Triple-A
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 12:47 PM
The Mariners optioned Castano to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
Analysis: Castano has yielded five runs with a 3:3 K:BB over five innings in five Cactus League outings. The 27-year-old will likely begin the season in the rotation at Triple-A Tacoma, but if he gets another shot with the big club, it could be as a reliever.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Cleared for spring debut
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 12:19 PM
Brash (mouth) is listed among the Mariners' available relievers for Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Rockies, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Brash will be making his first appearance of the spring after he had been delayed in his throwing progression during camp due to a tooth extraction he had a couple of weeks ago. Since Brash primarily functioned as a one-inning reliever for Seattle last season, he shouldn't require more than a handful of appearances in Cactus League games or on the back fields of Mariners camp over the next two weeks to ensure he'll be available for Opening Day.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Good to go for Team Canada
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 11:19 AM
Team Canada manager Ernie Whitt said that Naylor will be included in the lineup for Wednesday's matchup with Team Cuba in the World Baseball Classic after being hit on the right elbow in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Team Puerto Rico, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Analysis: Naylor was able to take his base after being hit in the third inning and ended up finishing 0-for-4 on the day. The 28-year-old apparently didn't experience any residual soreness overnight, so he'll be ready to go for the final game of pool play in a must-win contest for both Canada and Cuba.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Set for normal bullpen session
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 10:56 AM
Miller (oblique) will throw a normal bullpen session Wednesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Miller has previously thrown off the mound at less than full effort, but he'll throw his first standard bullpen session since he came down with inflammation in his left oblique in late February. The Mariners haven't revealed a target date for Miller's return to game action, but it will be close as to whether he can ramp back up in time for Opening Day.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Cactus League debut imminent
Wed, Mar 11, 2026, 10:16 AM
Brash (mouth) could make his Cactus League debut as soon as Wednesday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Brash is behind schedule following a tooth extraction, but his spring training debut is imminent. Barring something unexpected, the reliever should be fine for Opening Day. Brash is projected to serve as a setup man ahead of closer Andres Munoz this season.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Back at shortstop
Mon, Mar 9, 2026, 10:00 AM
Crawford (shoulder) will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Monday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Crawford will be included in the Cactus League lineup for the sixth time this spring, but he'll be making just his second start at shortstop and his first since Feb. 20. The 31-year-old has been battling a cranky shoulder during camp, which prompted the Mariners to use him as a designated hitter for his last four starts. Crawford should be ready to play shortstop on an everyday basis once the regular season gets underway; the Mariners appear to have simply exercised caution this spring by limiting his usage in the infield early on.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Returns to mound work
Sun, Mar 8, 2026, 1:27 PM
Miller (side) threw a 25-pitch touch-and-feel bullpen session Sunday at about 80 percent intensity, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: The right-hander was able to mix in all his pitches and is now scheduled for a normal 25-to-30-pitch bullpen session in a couple days. Miller was briefly shut down from throwing after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection to treat inflammation in his left side, which has delayed his buildup during spring training. If the 27-year-old can continue to ramp up with no further issues, it's possible he can avoid a stint on the injured list to begin the season.
Victor Robles
Victor Robles Checks back into spring lineup
Sun, Mar 8, 2026, 1:23 PM
Robles will serve as the Mariners' designated hitter and leadoff batter in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Robles will start for the first time since last Sunday, after the Mariners held him out of action for the past six days due to a sore shoulder, per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com. Assuming Robles' shoulder checks out fine following Sunday's contest, he could resume playing the outfield at some point during the upcoming week.
Ryan Loutos
Ryan Loutos Denied Opening Day roster spot
Sun, Mar 8, 2026, 1:14 PM
The Mariners optioned Loutos to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.
Analysis: Scooped up off waivers from the Nationals earlier in the offseason, Loutos will begin his time in the Mariners organization at the Triple-A level after he was unable to secure a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. Loutos took himself out of consideration after yielding seven runs (six earned) on seven hits over three innings in four appearances during Cactus League play.
Patrick Wisdom
Patrick Wisdom Homers again Thursday
Fri, Mar 6, 2026, 11:56 AM
Wisdom went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's Cactus League matchup against the Padres.
Analysis: After starting the spring 1-for-10 across four games, Wisdom's gone 4-for-6 with a pair of homers in his last two contests. The 34-year-old Wisdom signed with the Mariners as a non-roster invitee after spending the 2025 season in the KBO, where he posted an .856 OPS with 35 home runs in 119 games. Any chance that Wisdom had to earn a starting role went away with the signing of Brendan Donovan, though the veteran is still looking to make the Opening Day roster as a bench piece.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Ready to throw again
Wed, Mar 4, 2026, 2:13 PM
Miller (side) is slated to play catch Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: After he was briefly shut down over the weekend upon receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection to alleviate inflammation in his left side, Miller has since been cleared to resume a throwing program. Assuming he responds well to Wednesday's workout, Miller said he expects to get back on the mound and throw a light bullpen session by the weekend. Miller still looks to be at least a week or more away from pitching in a Cactus League game, but if he experiences no further setbacks with his side while building back up, he should be able to avoid a stint on the injured list to begin the season.
Rhylan Thomas
Rhylan Thomas Stellar start to spring
Wed, Mar 4, 2026, 1:25 PM
Thomas went 2-for-3 with a home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's Cactus League matchup with the Angels.
Analysis: Thomas has been red hot this spring, going 5-for-12 with a pair of homers in seven games. While he doesn't currently have a clear path towards an Opening Day roster spot, Thomas has certainly turned heads in the Mariners organization. The 25-year-old outfielder went just 1-for-8 in three games with Seattle last year, though he slashed an eye-popping .325/.380/.411 with seven homers and 35 steals across 134 games with Triple-A Tacoma.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley Strong start to spring
Tue, Mar 3, 2026, 9:14 AM
Raley has gone 5-for-10 with a double and a home run through five Cactus League games.
Analysis: It's been a nice start to the spring for Raley, who launched a 439-foot homer of Padres' left-hander JP Sears on Saturday. Raley should see regular at-bats against right-handed pitching to open the season while platooning with Rob Refsnyder in a corne-outfield spot. Injuries limited Raley to 219 plate appearances in 2025, where he slashed just .202/.319/.311 with four homers. However, Raley posted an .803 OPS over his previous two campaigns (255 games overall) with 41 home runs in that span.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Making spring debut Tuesday
Tue, Mar 3, 2026, 9:04 AM
Crawford (shoulder) is starting at designated hitter and batting fifth in Tuesday's Cactus League contest versus the Angels.
Analysis: It will be the spring training debut for Crawford, who has been brought along slowly in Mariners camp due to a minor shoulder issue. He will be eased back into action at DH and is expected to return to shortstop soon.
Cole Young
Cole Young Homers Sunday
Mon, Mar 2, 2026, 12:35 PM
Young went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Rangers.
Analysis: It had been a tough start to the spring for Young, who'd gone 0-for-8 with six strikeouts in his first four contests before launching a 442-foot homer off lefty Jacob Latz in the first inning Sunday. The 22-year-old Young continues to battle with top prospect Colt Emerson for the the final starting infield job. Young opened camp as the favorite, though his slow start may have closed the gap. Young appeared in 77 regular-season games as a rookie last year, batting .211 with a .607 OPS, four homers and one stolen base across 257 plate appearances.
Emerson Hancock
Emerson Hancock Sharp in second spring appearance
Sun, Mar 1, 2026, 11:58 AM
Hancock logged four strikeouts over 2.2 perfect innings in Saturday's Cactus League matchup against the Padres.
Analysis: It was an encouraging showing from Hancock after he was charged with three earned runs in just 1.2 innings in his first spring outing. The right-hander filled a swingman role for Seattle in 2025, posting a 4.90 ERA over 90 innings and making 16 starts in 22 appearances. With Bryce Miller (side) again dealing with health concerns, there could be a spot for Hancock in the Opening Day rotation.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Scheduled for live BP
Sat, Feb 28, 2026, 1:14 PM
Crawford (shoulder) will take live at-bats Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Crawford's shoulder has never been considered a threat to his Opening Day availability, as the Mariners have previously said they're simply taking a cautious approach with ramping up the veteran infielder. He's expected to make his first Cactus League appearance of the spring Tuesday as a DH and begin playing in the field the following week.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Dealing with side inflammation
Sat, Feb 28, 2026, 1:03 PM
Miller received a platelet-rich plasma injection Saturday to treat inflammation in his left side, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.
Analysis: Miller reported soreness after pitching in Thursday's Cactus League game against Cleveland, and an MRI later confirmed inflammation. He will now be shut down from throwing for five days, after which he'll begin playing light catch. A timeline for his return will emerge as he progresses in his throwing program.
