George Kirby
George Kirby Takes fifth loss
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 5:54 PM
Kirby (5-5) took the loss Wednesday against the Mets, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk across four innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: Kirby was decent early, holding New York to one run through his first three frames, but he'd fade in the fourth, where he'd allow four runs on four hits. The loss is Kirby's third in his last four starts -- he's struggled to a 7.29 ERA across 21 innings in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.04 on the year with a 1.28 WHIP and 64:18 K:BB through 13 starts (78 innings). Kirby will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come next week in Baltimore.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Starting rehab assignment Sunday
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 2:01 PM
Raleigh (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Everett on Sunday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Raleigh will move up to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday and will continue his rehab assignment there for the rest of next week before the Mariners evaluate him for a return to the active roster. That sets Raleigh up to return to the Seattle lineup June 16 for the beginning of a homestand, assuming all goes well. He's been out since mid-May due to a right oblique strain.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Closing in on rehab games
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 12:58 PM
Raleigh (oblique) could be ready for a rehab assignment during the Mariners' June 5-14 road trip, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Raleigh has been ramping up all of his baseball activities in recent days as he works his way back from a right oblique strain. He will remain in Seattle for the time being to continue workouts as the team departs for its road trip, but it sounds like Raleigh could be ready for rehab games next week. Raleigh has missed the past three weeks of action but should be ready to return to the Mariners' active roster by mid-June, barring setbacks.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Back in lineup Wednesday
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 11:56 AM
Naylor (back) will start at first base and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Naylor will make his return to the starting nine after he exited with back spasms in Monday's series opener and then sat out Tuesday's 8-3 win. The Mariners will hope that the brief absence won't disrupt Naylor's rhythm at the plate; over his last eight games, the 28-year-old has gone 10-for-33 (.303 average).
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor Sitting due to back spasms
Tue, Jun 2, 2026, 5:37 PM
Naylor (back) is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Mets.
Analysis: Naylor is dealing with back spasms that caused him to leave Monday's series opener versus the Mets in the eighth inning. As he sits Tuesday, Patrick Wisdom has the start at first and is batting seventh.
Cole Young
Cole Young Lifts Seattle to win in 10th inning
Tue, Jun 2, 2026, 2:24 AM
Young went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in Monday's 3-2 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Young lifted the Mariners to victory, delivering a walk-off bloop single in the 10th inning. He's riding a five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-18 (.389) with a homer, three RBI, four runs and two walks during the stretch. With steady playing time at the keystone this season, Young is slashing .250/.325/.363 with 15 extra-base hits (four homers), 30 RBI, 26 runs and two stolen bases across 61 appearances.
Colt Emerson
Colt Emerson Drives third homer
Tue, Jun 2, 2026, 2:15 AM
Emerson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Mets.
Analysis: In a lefty-lefty matchup against Sean Manaea in the third inning, Emerson yanked an outside sweeper over the right-field fence for a solo homer to open the scoring. He has now gone deep in two of his past three games. The 20-year-old hasn't looked overmatched since being promoted, slashing .250/.340/.568 with three homers, three doubles, a triple, eight RBI and seven runs across 50 plate appearances.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Lifts another homer in win
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:37 PM
Canzone went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Canzone restored a one-run lead for the Mariners in the bottom of the sixth inning. He has gone deep in three of his last four games and has a total of six extra-base hits over his last eight contests. For the season, he's batting .250 with an .826 OPS, seven homers, 23 RBI, 18 runs scored, 10 doubles and a stolen base across 141 plate appearances in a strong-side platoon role.
Cole Young
Cole Young Opens scoring with homer
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:35 PM
Young went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Young has hit consistently in recent games, going 9-for-34 (.265) with two doubles and three RBI over his last 10 games. The 22-year-old hasn't shown much power -- his long ball Sunday was his fourth of the year and his first since April 25 against the Cardinals. On the season, he's hitting .244 with a .677 OPS, 29 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases, 10 doubles and a triple through 60 contests.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Snags extra-inning win
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:32 PM
Castillo (2-5) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five innings of relief, earning the win despite taking a blown save Sunday versus the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Castillo couldn't hold the 1-0 lead in the sixth inning after Bryce Miller's five frames of one-hit ball. This was still a positive showing for Castillo, who has given up just four runs (three earned) over 11.1 innings while adding a 13:6 K:BB over his last three appearances. He has a 5.53 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 56:22 K:BB across 55.1 innings through 12 outings (10 starts) this year. The Mariners' fifth spot in the rotation is set to come up again on the road versus the Tigers -- if the team continues to deploy a tandem, Castillo and Miller would likely share another game despite the pitchers' discomfort with the ongoing arrangement.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Strong again in no-decision
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:29 PM
Miller allowed a hit and a walk while striking out six over five scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Analysis: Miller threw 52 of 71 pitches for strikes, making this his lightest workload in four appearances (three starts) since he returned from an oblique injury. He continues to pitch well, but the Mariners are displaying plenty of caution with his limited pitch counts. Miller worked in a tandem with Luis Castillo, who allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over the last five frames of the extra-inning win. Both pitchers have expressed some dislike for the tandem approach, but it's led to positive results for two consecutive turns through the rotation. Miller has an excellent 1.71 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 20:3 K:BB over 21 innings this season. If the pitching tandem continues, Miller would get the ball at some point during next weekend's series in Detroit.
Mitch Garver
Mitch Garver Stuck in timeshare
Sun, May 31, 2026, 3:06 PM
Garver is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Though he appeared likely to take over as the Mariners' clear No. 1 catcher when Cal Raleigh (oblique) was placed on the injured list earlier this month, Garver has instead been used in a timeshare behind the plate with Jhonny Pereda. Since Raleigh last played May 13, Garver has made seven starts to Pereda's nine.
Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh Swinging in cages
Fri, May 29, 2026, 5:09 PM
Raleigh (oblique) began taking swings in a batting cage Friday, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports
Analysis: Raleigh has been ramping up his activity at the Mariners' complex in Arizona over the past few days, and his return to swinging a bat marks an encouraging step forward as he works his way back from a right oblique strain. He's set to return to Seattle on Saturday to check in with the team, though he likely still has a couple more weeks of rehab ahead of him before he's cleared to come off the IL.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Working behind Miller on Sunday
Thu, May 28, 2026, 12:49 PM
Castillo is slated to work out of the bullpen and will piggyback starter Bryce Miller during Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks in Seattle, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Though both Castillo and Miller have expressed a reluctance to being used in a piggyback arrangement, the two pitchers will nonetheless operate in a tandem for a third consecutive turn through the rotation. The setup worked well the last time out Monday in Sacramento, with Castillo starting the game and delivering one of his better efforts of the season, as he struck out six and allowed just two hits and two walks over four scoreless frames. Miller followed with five innings of two-run ball and was credited with the win, but Castillo should have better odds of factoring into the decision Sunday while he and Miller are used in the opposite order. The Mariners will reassess their rotation plans after Sunday's contest, and Castillo may need another strong showing against Arizona to ensure that he avoids moving into a full-time relief role.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Headed for another tandem start
Thu, May 28, 2026, 12:38 PM
Miller is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks in Seattle and will be used in tandem with Luis Castillo, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Though both Miller and Castillo have expressed displeasure with being deployed in a piggyback arrangement, the two pitchers will nonetheless operate in a tandem for a third consecutive turn through the rotation. The setup worked well the last time out Monday in Sacramento, with Castillo delivering four shutout frames to open the game before Miller followed with four strikeouts over five innings of two-run ball en route to picking up his first win of the season. The two will pitch in the opposite order Sunday, and while being piggybacked by Castillo will likely suppress MIller's workload, the latter should still be able to reach the five innings he would need to hit to qualify for a win in a starting role. Since being activated from the injured list May 13, Miller has covered between five and 5.2 innings and 72 and 83 pitches over his three appearances while posting a 2.55 ERA and 1.00 WHIP.
Colt Emerson
Colt Emerson Two hits, triple in win
Thu, May 28, 2026, 6:36 AM
Emerson went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the A's.
Analysis: The multi-hit effort was Emerson's second in his last four games -- he's gone 6-for-14 with four extra-base hits in that span. The rookie infielder has gotten off to a strong start overall, slashing .258/.361/.516 with a home run, six RBI and five runs scored through his first 10 major-league contests.
Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez Up to 10 homers
Thu, May 28, 2026, 6:32 AM
Rodriguez went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the A's.
Analysis: Rodriguez put the finishing touches on Seattle's win with his three-run blast off Luis Medina in the eighth inning, extending the lead to 9-0. It's Rodriguez's 10th homer of the year and his second in four games. The outfielder is now slashing .258/.317/.437 with 30 runs scored, 27 RBI and five steals across 249 plate appearances on the season.
Rob Refsnyder
Rob Refsnyder Launches third homer
Wed, May 27, 2026, 7:18 PM
Refsnyder went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the A's.
Analysis: Refsnyder put the Mariners ahead early with a two-out, three-run blast off Jeffrey Springs in the first inning, his third homer this year. Refsnyder has logged hits in back-to-back games on the heels of a 1-for-27 slump that spanned his previous 13 contests. Overall, the veteran outfielder is slashing .122/.200/.243 with eight RBI and seven runs scored across 85 plate appearances while manning the short side of a platoon with Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone.
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Grabs third win
Wed, May 27, 2026, 6:34 PM
Gilbert (3-4) earned the win Wednesday over the A's, allowing five hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: It's the second straight scoreless outing for Gilbert and his third in his last four starts. The 29-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.69 on the year with a 1.11 WHIP and 69:16 K:BB across 12 starts (68.1 innings). Gilbert will look to carry over the momentum into his next start, currently scheduled to come at home next week against the Mets.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Sitting against versus lefty
Wed, May 27, 2026, 11:38 AM
Canzone is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
Analysis: The Mariners will keep Canzone and fellow left-handed hitter Luke Raley on the bench for the second game in a row while the Athletics send another lefty starter (Jeffrey Springs) to the hill. Seattle will go with Randy Arozarena as its designated hitter and Rob Refsnyder, Julio Rodriguez and Victor Robles as its starting outfield trio for the series finale in Sacramento.
