Ty Adcock
Ty Adcock Outrighted to El Paso
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 9:18 PM
Adcock cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A El Paso.
Analysis: Adcock was DFA'd by the Padres on Sunday to make room for Blake Hunt, but the former will officially remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old has turned in a 7.15 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 11.1 innings between three of San Diego's minor-league affiliates this year, and he's likely to spend the vast majority of what's left of the season in the minors.
Fernando Tatis Jr.
Fernando Tatis Jr. Leads offense in win
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 6:02 PM
Tatis went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Tatis drove in a run on a double in the fifth inning before adding an RBI single in the ninth. It continued a strong June for the 27-year-old, who's batting .344 with hits in 12 of 15 contests this month to go along with eight RBI, seven runs scored and four stolen bases. On the year, he's slashing .284/.348/.353 with two homers, 26 RBI, 28 runs scored and 18 steals across 314 plate appearances.
Griffin Canning
Griffin Canning Earns first win in bulk relief
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 4:42 PM
Canning (1-5) earned the win against the Cardinals on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts over 4.1 innings.
Analysis: Canning entered in the second inning and was actually the only Padres pitcher to allow a run, which came via a single in the fifth. The 30-year-old has opened June in uneven fashion, yielding one earned run in two of three outings with a seven-run blowup in between. Overall, he owns a 6.64 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 41:25 K:BB across 42 innings this season. With German Marquez (forearm) closing in on a return, it's unclear what Canning's role will be for his next turn.
Jackson Merrill
Jackson Merrill Fills stat sheet in win
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 4:22 PM
Merrill went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Merrill put an exclamation point on a three-hit effort with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, notching a homer and a steal in the same game for the second time this season. The 23-year-old is showing some signs of life, going deep twice in his past five contests while tallying multiple hits in four of his past eight. On the season, he's slashing .213/.277/.358 with eight home runs, 30 RBI, 32 runs scored and 12 stolen bases across 294 plate appearances.
Ron Marinaccio
Ron Marinaccio Serving two-game ban
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 12:26 PM
Marinaccio will begin a serving a two-game suspension Wednesday following a successful appeal to reduce the ban from three games, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Major League Baseball issued Marinaccio the suspension Monday, two days after he was deemed to have intentionally thrown at the Orioles' Gunnar Henderson during a relief appearance. He was available out of the bullpen for the first two games of the Padres' series in St. Louis while he appealed the suspension, but now that a resolution has been reached, Marinaccio will sit out Wednesday's finale as well as Friday's series opener against the Rangers.
Ty France
Ty France Drawing third straight start
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 11:35 AM
France will start at first base and bat seventh Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Analysis: France will end up covering first base for all three games of the series in St. Louis, after he went 1-for-6 with an RBI between Monday and Tuesday. He appears to have an edge over the likes of Sung-Mun Song, Jase Bowen and Nick Solak for the final spot in San Diego's everyday lineup, but France will likely be the top choice to move to the bench once the Padres get one of Jake Cronenworth (concussion) or Miguel Andujar (hamstring) back from the injured list.
Griffin Canning
Griffin Canning Following opener in St. Louis
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 10:05 AM
Canning will serve as the Padres' primary pitcher Wednesday in St. Louis, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Canning has recorded a 10.12 ERA in the first inning this season and lefties are slashing .370/.475/.696 off him, so the Padres will avoid having the right-hander face lefties JJ Wetherholt and Alec Burleson in the first frame. Bradgley Rodriguez will take the ball first for the Padres on Wednesday as an opener.
Bradgley Rodriguez
Bradgley Rodriguez Serving as opener Wednesday
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 10:00 AM
Rodriguez will serve as the Padres' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Rodriguez will cover the first inning or two before turning the ball over to Griffin Canning, who will be utilized in bulk relief. The 22-year-old righty boasts a 2.16 ERA this season but has been scored upon in four of his last five appearances.
Michael King
Michael King Lasts 4.1 innings Tuesday
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 8:41 AM
King (4-6) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Cardinals after allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across 4.1 innings. He struck out one and hit a batter.
Analysis: King posted a quality start in his previous outing against the Reds on June 10, but he struggled in this one and couldn't even get out of the fifth inning. The 31-year-old right-hander has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last five starts, posting a 6.41 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 26.2 innings over that stretch. He's expected to make his next start at home against Atlanta next week.
Ron Marinaccio
Ron Marinaccio Given three-game suspension
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 5:33 PM
Marinaccio was suspended three games by Major League Baseball for intentionally hitting Gunnar Henderson with a pitch during Saturday's game versus the Orioles, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Marinaccio has appealed the ban, so he will be available out of the bullpen for Monday's series opener in St. Louis. Manager Craig Stammen was also suspended one game, and he must serve the suspension Monday.
Samad Taylor
Samad Taylor On bench for series opener
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 4:02 PM
Taylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Taylor will retreat to the bench after he had started in left field in each of the Padres' last seven games while going 10-for-26 (.385 average) with a home run, three walks, two stolen bases, eight RBI and five runs during that stretch. Gavin Sheets will get the nod in left field Monday, but Taylor should have a fairly clear path to an everyday role so long as he remains productive at the plate.
Kyle Hart
Kyle Hart Recalled from Triple-A
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:48 PM
The Padres recalled Hart from Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
Analysis: Hart made the Padres' Opening Day roster but was sent down in early May after collecting a 5.40 ERA and 10:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings in his first 12 appearances. He struggled at hitter-friendly El Paso, as well, with a 7.36 ERA, and the lefty will be used in a low-leverage situations.
Bryce Johnson
Bryce Johnson Passes through waivers
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:46 PM
The Padres outrighted Johnson to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
Analysis: Johnson will stick around in the organization as outfield depth at the Triple-A level after he went unclaimed off waivers when the Padres designated him for assignment over the weekend. Prior to losing his spot on the 40-man roster, the 30-year-old Johnson struggled to produce in his limited opportunities with San Diego, slashing .178/.229/.222 with no home runs, five steals, five runs and two RBI across 49 plate appearances.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Goes on bereavement leave
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:43 PM
The Padres placed Miller on the bereavement/family medical leave list Monday.
Analysis: According to MLB rules, Miller must remain on the bereavement list for at least the next three days and no more than seven. Jason Adam has served as the Friars' top setup man and could represent the top choice for any save chances that arise while Miller is away from the team. Miller is well on his way to earning the second All-Star nod of his career this season, as he's converted all 19 of his save opportunities while submitting a 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB over 30 innings.
Lucas Giolito
Lucas Giolito Following opener Monday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 2:26 PM
Giolito is expected to operate in a bulk-relief role Monday in St. Louis with right-hander Wandy Peralta serving as the Padres' opening pitcher in the series opener, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Analysis: Giolito has struggling since making his Padres debut May 17, posting a 4.35 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 14:18 K:BB over 20.2 innings covering five starts. As a result of Giolito's ongoing struggles, the club will take a new approach with his turn through the rotation and send Wandy Peralta to the bump to cover the first inning or two.
Wandy Peralta
Wandy Peralta Serving as opener Monday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 2:22 PM
Peralta will serve as the Padres' opening pitcher in Monday's game versus the Cardinals.
Analysis: Peralta is expected to work the first inning or two before giving way to Lucas Giolito, who will operate as a bulk reliever Monday after starting in his first five appearances for the Padres. Peralta has managed to go unscored upon in 14 of his last 15 appearances, but he has an ugly 12:13 K:BB over 19.2 innings during that stretch.
Adrian Morejon
Adrian Morejon Registers 12th hold
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:23 PM
Morejon notched a hold against the Orioles on Sunday, allowing one hit with no walks or strikeouts over 1.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: Morejon entered in the seventh inning with the Padres up 4-2 and a runner on first base. He needed just three pitches to get out of the frame, as he induced a double-play grounder off the bat of Adley Rutschman. Morejon then retired the first two batters he faced in the eighth before giving up an infield single, and he was subsequently replaced by closer Mason Miller. The southpaw recorded his 12th hold of the campaign, which is second-most on San Diego behind Jason Adam. Morejon's 4.00 ERA isn't exceptional, but he has a more appealing 1.06 WHIP and 41:7 K:BB over 36 innings spanning 33 relief appearances.
Rodolfo Duran
Rodolfo Duran Goes deep again Sunday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:03 PM
Duran went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three total RBI and two total runs in a 5-2 win against Baltimore on Sunday.
Analysis: With Freddy Fermin placed on the 7-day injured list early Sunday due to a concussion, Duran got the start behind the plate. He ended up being the star of San Diego's offense, producing both of the team's extra-base hits (an RBI double and a two-run homer) from the No. 9 spot in the batting order. Duran also went deep Saturday after entering for Fermin late in the contest, and he now has four extra-base hits (two doubles, two homers) and four RBI over his past nine plate appearances. Duran should serve as the Padres' primary catcher until Fermin or Luis Campusano (toe) returns to action. He's still batting a meager .176 on the campaign, but half of his six hits have left he park, and he went deep 15 times over 85 contests with Triple-A El Paso last season, so he could provide some temporary pop for fantasy managers in need of a backstop, particularly in two-catcher leagues.
Matt Waldron
Matt Waldron Begins rehab assignment
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 8:26 AM
Waldron (forearm) made his first rehab appearance with Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: Waldron breezed through his 2.1 frames on 27 pitches, yielding just one hit. It was Waldron's first outing in exactly one month, as he's working his way back from a right brachialis muscle injury. If the knuckleballer is added back to the major-league roster at the conclusion of his rehab assignment, he is expected to be used in a relief role.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Brilliant campaign continues
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 7:00 PM
Miller secured the save Sunday against the Orioles, throwing 1.1 clean innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: The Orioles had no answer for Miller, who punched out at least three hitters Sunday for the 11th time already this year. The hard-throwing right-hander has been a lights-out closer for the Padres and fantasy managers alike in 2026, converting all 19 of his save opportunities so far. Miller, who leads the National League in saves, has a shiny 0.90 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB over 30 frames.
