Luis Campusano
Luis Campusano Tallies two extra-base hits
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 8:42 PM
Campusano went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional RBI in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Campusano drew the start behind the plate to wrap up the weekend in Mexico City, doubling and homering Sunday after slugging two doubles and a homer in his previous start Wednesday against the Rockies. After going hitless in 10 games at the big-league level in 2025, the 27-year-old has been on fire to begin 2026, slashing .350/.395/.750 with three homers, nine RBI and eight runs through 14 games. Freddy Fermin is the lead catcher and is more well regarded on the defensive side, but Campusano's continued success should earn him opportunities in the lineup.
Manny Machado
Manny Machado Blasts two homers in loss
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 8:27 PM
Machado went 2-for-5 with two homers and five RBI in Sunday's 12-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Machado took advantage of the hitter-friendly backdrop at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu, launching a two-run homer in the third inning before adding a three-run shot in the fifth frame, both off Ryne Nelson. Although the Padres ultimately lost, it was a much-needed offensive outburst for the third baseman, who entered Sunday's contest with a .615 OPS. The 33-year-old is now slashing .209/.327/.363 with four homers, 16 RBI and 15 runs through 26 games in 2026.
Michael King
Michael King Strong showing in no-decision
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 8:09 PM
King did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out eight.
Analysis: King was mostly excellent, striking out a season-high eight batters while maintaining strong command, with the only damage coming on solo homers by Jose Fernandez and Ildemaro Vargas in the fifth and sixth innings. A bullpen collapse prevented King from earning his fourth win of the season, but it was another strong outing for the right-hander, who owns a 2.41 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 34:15 K:BB across 33.2 innings (six starts). His next start is projected for Saturday against the White Sox.
German Marquez
German Marquez Overcomes tough frame for win
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 8:49 PM
Marquez (3-1) earned the win against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts over six innings.
Analysis: Marquez surrendered four runs in the second inning but rebounded with four scoreless frames to finish strong. Through five starts, the 31-year-old has alternated between three four-run outings and two scoreless efforts. Overall, he owns a 4.38 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB across 24.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup against the White Sox next weekend.
Ty France
Ty France Homers twice in win
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 8:32 PM
France went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: France got the Padres on the board with a solo shot in the fifth inning before adding another in the ninth. It marked his second multi-hit effort of the season and his first two-homer game since 2023. On the year, the 31-year-old is slashing .265/.306/.559 with four extra-base hits, three RBI and six runs scored across just 36 plate appearances.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Earns 10th save
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 8:24 PM
Miller threw a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks. He did not record a strikeout.
Analysis: Miller was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth and did so on 13 pitches. According to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com, he now holds the Padres' record for the longest scoreless streak at 34.2 innings, which ranks eighth in major-league history among relievers. Of that stretch, 13.1 frames have come in 2026, and he's a perfect 10-for-10 in save chances with a 0.38 WHIP and a ridiculous 27:2 K:BB to open the campaign.
Sung-Mun Song
Sung-Mun Song Up as 27th man
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 11:01 AM
The Padres recalled Song from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Analysis: The Padres will be allowed to carry a 27th man on their roster during the Mexico City Series against Arizona, so Song will join the big club to provide extra infield depth. The 29-year-old has slashed .293/.369/.320 with 12 RBI and nine runs scored through 20 Triple-A games and will be making his MLB debut if he gets into a game this weekend.
Ramon Laureano
Ramon Laureano Raps three hits Thursday
Fri, Apr 24, 2026, 12:44 PM
Laureano went 3-for-6 with a triple and two RBI against the Rockies in a 10-8 victory Thursday.
Analysis: Laureano knocked in a run in the fourth inning with his second three-bagger of the season. The veteran outfielder came into the contest having gone 2-for-20 with 11 strikeouts over his previous five games, but he busted that mini-slump with his second three-hit performance of the campaign. Laureano has been one of San Diego's most productive hitters this season, slashing .264/.320/.484 with four home runs, 13 runs, a team-leading 17 RBI and three stolen bases through 100 plate appearances.
Gavin Sheets
Gavin Sheets Produces key homer on birthday
Fri, Apr 24, 2026, 12:39 PM
Sheets went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in a 10-8 win against Colorado on Thursday.
Analysis: On the day he turned 30 years old, Sheets began the game on the bench. However, he replaced Ty France in the eighth inning and came through with a huge three-run blast in the ninth that ultimately decided the outcome of the game. Through 79 plate appearances, Sheets is slashing .227/.266/.467 with three homers, nine doubles, nine runs, nine RBI and one stolen base while making starts at first base, in left field and at DH, primarily against right-handed pitchers.
Xander Bogaerts
Xander Bogaerts Stays hot in high-scoring affair
Thu, Apr 23, 2026, 10:49 PM
Bogaerts went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, three runs scored and two walks in Thursday's 10-8 win over Colorado.
Analysis: Although he got off to a dreadful 4-for-32 start at the plate over his first eight games of 2026, the veteran shortstop has been producing at a high level ever since. Over his last 68 trips to the plate (16 contests), Bogaerts is slashing .379/.471/.603 with four long balls, one double and two stolen bases to push his OPS for the year up to a strong .810.
Mason Miller
Mason Miller Nails down ninth save
Thu, Apr 23, 2026, 10:32 PM
Miller picked up the save Thursday against the Rockies, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: It was actually the first time in 12 outings this year that Miller was unable to fan a batter. Other than that blemish, the hard-throwing right-hander continues to be nearly untouchable. Miller, who's now up to an MLB-high nine saves in 2026, hasn't given up a run since Aug. 5 of last year, firing 33.2 consecutive regular-season scoreless innings to tie Cia Meredith's franchise record.
Matt Waldron
Matt Waldron Escapes with no-decision
Thu, Apr 23, 2026, 9:37 PM
Waldron took a no-decision Thursday against the Rockies, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: Facing a stiff assignment at Coors Field on Thursday, Waldron was unable to get the Rockies off balance with his knuckleball. The 29-year-old right-hander has now yielded six runs on eight hits in both of his starts to begin the season, and it's plausible that Lucas Giolito will eventually take Waldron's spot in the rotation once he's up to speed after signing with the Padres on Wednesday. Waldron tentatively projects to take the ball next week against the Cubs.
Wandy Peralta
Wandy Peralta Yields homer in relief Wednesday
Thu, Apr 23, 2026, 10:12 AM
Peralta tossed 1.2 relief innings against Colorado on Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter.
Analysis: The run Peralta allowed came on a Hunter Goodman homer. It was just the third run surrendered by Peralta this season over 11.2 frames, with two of the tallies coming via solo home runs. The southpaw's fantasy relevance is minimal since he has only one hold and zero saves so far, but he's been effective with a 2.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 11 outings.
Griffin Canning
Griffin Canning Makes short rehab start
Thu, Apr 23, 2026, 9:21 AM
Canning (Achilles) yielded two earned runs on three hits and two walks across 1.2 innings in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A El Paso. He didn't record a strikeout.
Analysis: Making the fourth start of his rehab assignment, Canning was expected to get further stretched out after tossing 67 pitches and 2.2 innings his last time out for El Paso on Thursday. The right-hander ended up throwing just 45 pitches (24 strikes) in Wednesday's outing before being lifted midway through the second inning. Canning has now turned in a 5.40 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB in 10 innings for El Paso over his four outings, so in addition to increasing his pitch count, he'll likely need to show improved form with the Triple-A club in order to secure a spot in the San Diego rotation once he returns from the 15-day injured list.
Jackson Merrill
Jackson Merrill Notches fifth steal
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 11:28 PM
Merrill went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and one stolen base in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Rockies.
Analysis: Merrill opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. Prior to Wednesday, he had gone 0-for-16 with 10 strikeouts over his previous four games. The outfielder has run streaky early in 2026, leading to a lackluster .217/.280/.380 slash line over 101 plate appearances. He's added three home runs, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored, six doubles and five stolen bases across 24 contests.
Luis Campusano
Luis Campusano Racks up three extra-base hits
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 11:25 PM
Campusano went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two doubles and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Rockies.
Analysis: Campusano's blast game in the seventh inning, but the Padres weren't able to build off of it. This was his second multi-hit effort of the season, and it was his first performance with an extra-base hit in his last six games. The catcher is batting .333 with a 1.052 OPS, two homers, seven RBI, seven runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 39 plate appearances this season, but he continues to function in the backup catcher role behind Freddy Fermin.
Walker Buehler
Walker Buehler Chased early Wednesday
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 11:22 PM
Buehler (1-2) allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings to take the loss versus the Rockies on Wednesday.
Analysis: Buehler's pitch count got up early -- he ended at 82 pitches (47 strikes). That's the third time in five starts where he's failed to complete five innings, and he's fallen short of three frames in two of those games. The right-hander is sporting an ugly 5.75 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB across 20.1 innings so far. Buehler is likely to remain at the back end of the Padres' rotation for now, though he could be pressured once Lucas Giolito, who signed a one-year contract with San Diego on Wednesday, is up to speed. Buehler's tentatively lined up to make his next start at home versus the Cubs.
Miguel Andujar
Miguel Andujar Not in Wednesday's lineup
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 4:33 PM
Andujar is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Analysis: Andujar has been productive at the plate to open the season, with the 31-year-old slashing .308/.345/.423 with one steal and two RBI over 55 plate appearances. He'll be on the bench for the start of Wednesday's contest, with Gavin Sheets serving as the designated hitter and Nick Castellanos filling in at first base.
Freddy Fermin
Freddy Fermin Sitting Wednesday
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 4:31 PM
Fermin is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Analysis: With Fermin opening Wednesday's game on the bench, Luis Campusano will serve behind home plate and bat eighth while catching pitches from Walker Buehler. Fermin has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .194/.333/.278 with two RBI and nine runs scored over 45 plate appearances.
Bryan Hoeing
Bryan Hoeing Moved to 60-day IL
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 12:12 PM
The Padres transferred Hoeing (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
Analysis: The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Lucas Giolito, who signed a one-year deal with San Diego. Hoeing will miss the entire 2026 season after having surgery in March to repair his flexor tendon.
