Orion Kerkering
Orion Kerkering Blows save, earns win
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 10:04 PM
Kerkering (3-1) allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits over one inning against the Phillies on Tuesday. He struck out two and earned a win after being charged with a blown save.
Analysis: Kerkering gave up an RBI double to James Wood and a three-run shot to Nathaniel Lowe after entering with a 5-2 lead. Fortunately for Kerkering, an error in the frame kept three of those runs from affecting his ERA. He gave up one run through his first seven innings of the season but has since allowed nine runs (six earned) over his last 4.1 frames, spiking his ERA to 5.56. Jose Alvarado allowed two hits and struck out three in a scoreless eighth inning.
Zack Wheeler

Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 9:45 PM
Wheeler did not factor in the decision during Tuesday's win against Washington. He allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over 6.2 innings while striking out seven.
Analysis: Wheeler worked through five shutout frames before coughing up a solo shot to Luis Garcia. The Nationals put another run on Wheeler's line after he was removed in the seventh inning. He's delivered five quality starts in seven outings this season, including three straight. Wheeler has struck out at least seven batters in six of those starts. He dropped his ERA to 3.48 with a 57:9 K:BB through 44 frames. Wheeler is currently lined up to start in Tampa Bay next week.

Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 9:27 PM
Turner went 4-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over Washington.
Analysis: Turner singled and scored a run in the first inning before knocking an RBI double and scoring again in the eighth. It was his second straight game with at least three hits and his fourth multi-hit performance over his last nine appearances. Turner bumped his season slash line up to .290/.367/.364 with six extra-base hits and 15 runs scored.
Brandon Marsh
Brandon Marsh Expected to resume rehab this week
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 3:29 PM
The Phillies expect Marsh (hamstring) to resume his rehab assignment later this week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Marsh had to be removed from his rehab game with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday due to a cramp in his right hamstring, which is the same hamstring he strained that sent him to the 10-day injured list. He will be checked out by a doctor, but the Phillies aren't concerned that it's a significant setback.
Ranger Suarez
Ranger Suarez Could rejoin rotation this weekend
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 3:26 PM
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that Suarez (back) could return from the 15-day injured list to make a start this weekend versus the Diamondbacks, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Suarez has looked sharp on his minor-league rehab assignment, yielding just two runs with a 24:5 K:BB over 16.2 innings covering four starts. He will throw a bullpen session Wednesday and could pitch for the Phillies as soon as Friday, but an exact date for his season debut is still undecided.
Cristopher Sanchez
Cristopher Sanchez Cleared to start Wednesday
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 3:16 PM
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that Sanchez (forearm) will start Wednesday against the Nationals, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sanchez was removed from his last start one week ago due to left forearm soreness. However, he has thrown since then without issue and will not miss a turn in the rotation, simply being pushed back one day.
Max Kepler
Max Kepler Out of lineup Tuesday
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 2:02 PM
Kepler is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
Analysis: Kepler will take a seat with left-hander MacKenzie Gore on the mound for the Nationals. Weston Wilson is getting the start in left field and batting eighth for Philly.

Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 2:01 PM
Stott is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
Analysis: With left-hander MacKenzie Gore on the mound for the Nationals, Stott will come off the bench Tuesday. Edmundo Sosa is getting the nod at second base and batting seventh.
Trea Turner
Trea Turner Knocks three hits
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 9:53 PM
Turner went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's extra-inning victory against the Cubs.
Analysis: Turner put the Phillies on the board with an RBI single in the third inning. He later added an insurance run with another RBI single in the 10th. After posting back-to-back multi-hit games against the Marlins, Turner was stuck in a short 3-for-21 (.143) rut over his previous five games. Sunday's outing bumped his slash line up to .262/.345/.330 with 10 RBI through 116 plate appearances.
Jordan Romano
Jordan Romano Secures second save
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 9:50 PM
Romano struck out one batter in a scoreless inning and earned a save during Sunday's extra-inning win against the Cubs.
Analysis: Romano threw 10 of 13 pitches for strikes to quickly retire the Cubs' 4-5-6 hitters and secure the 3-1 victory. He converted his first since April 4 and now has two in four chances. Romano has allowed at least one run in five of his 12 outings this season, resulting in a 12.19 ERA through 10.1 frames. Jose Alvarado earned a win after working a scoreless ninth inning.
Aaron Nola
Aaron Nola Delivers quality start
Sun, Apr 27, 2025, 9:42 PM
Nola did not factor in the decision during Sunday's extra-inning win over the Cubs. He allowed a run on three hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out six.
Analysis: Nola coughed up a run in the second inning but otherwise had no trouble in the quality start. He commanded the zone by throwing 73 of 99 pitches for strikes. He generated 16 swinging strikes, with six coming via the cutter. Nola snapped a five-start losing skid and delivered his first quality start since April 5. He'll carry a 5.40 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home next weekend against the Diamondbacks.
Jesus Luzardo
Jesus Luzardo No earned runs in win
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 9:46 PM
Luzardo (3-0) earned the win in Saturday's game against the Cubs. He allowed two runs (none earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out five in six innings.
Analysis: Luzardo gave up two runs on a Seiya Suzuki single in the fifth inning, but neither of them were earned due to a fielding error by Trea Turner. Luzardo allowed one base runner or less in the other five innings he worked, generating 15 whiffs in 102 pitches (64 strikes) for his fourth quality start of the season. His 1.73 ERA and 41 strikeouts are both tied for sixth-best in the National League among qualified starters. Luzardo slated to face the Diamondbacks at home next weekend.
Max Kepler
Max Kepler Hits second homer of 2025
Sat, Apr 26, 2025, 9:35 PM
Kepler went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and an additional RBI in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Kepler got the Phillies on the board in the fourth inning on a single to left field that brought Kyle Schwarber home. Kepler scored later in that frame, and he extended the Phillies lead to eight runs in the seventh frame on a solo homer to right field off Ethan Roberts. Saturday marked Kepler's eighth multi-hit game of the year and he is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak. Over that span he has gone 8-for-17 with three walks, three runs scored and a solo home run.
Cristopher Sanchez
Cristopher Sanchez Bullpen session scheduled
Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 11:22 PM
Sanchez (forearm) felt fine after playing catch Friday and will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Sanchez was pulled from start Tuesday against the Mets due to forearm soreness, an issue which is sometimes the first sign of a problem serious enough to require Tommy John surgery. While that worst-case scenario probably remains in play, the news has been largely positive since Tuesday. He felt better enough by Wednesday that the Phillies elected not to send him for an MRI, and he was allowed to throw just three days after the initial incident. If Sunday's bullpen session causes no further issues, he could wind up avoiding the injured list, though he won't start Tuesday against the Nationals as previously scheduled.
Taijuan Walker
Taijuan Walker Falls to Cubs
Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 6:54 PM
Walker (1-2) took the loss against the Cubs on Friday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Walker did a good job limiting the Cubs to two runs despite dealing with traffic throughout the start. Still, the right-hander was only able to make it through three innings on 86 pitches after he was removed from his previous start with shoulder stiffness. Walker still holds a solid 2.78 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB through five starts (22.2 innings) this year. He's currently lined up to face the Nationals at home in his next outing.
Taijuan Walker
Taijuan Walker Cleared to start Friday
Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 9:50 AM
Walker (shoulder) is listed as the Phillies' scheduled starter for Friday's game against the Cubs in Chicago.
Analysis: Walker developed some right shoulder stiffness Saturday against the Marlins, but the 32-year-old checked out fine following his between-starts bullpen session and will be ready to toe the rubber on five days' rest. Though he was expected to begin the season in the bullpen, Walker ended up winning a spot in the Opening Day rotation after Ranger Suarez (back) landed on the injured list. Walker has fared well through four starts, turning in a 2.29 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 19.2 innings.
Brandon Marsh
Brandon Marsh Beginning rehab assignment
Thu, Apr 24, 2025, 11:55 AM
Marsh (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Marsh has been sidelined for the past week with a right hamstring strain but has improved enough to test things out in game action. As long as he doesn't have any setbacks, he should be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Sunday.
Jordan Romano
Jordan Romano Stuck with loss, blown save
Thu, Apr 24, 2025, 9:07 AM
Romano (0-1) took the loss and a blown save Wednesday against the Mets, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: The Phillies took a one-run lead in the top of the 10th inning, and Romano was tasked with closing the door in the bottom half. After Pete Alonso tied the game with a one-out double, Romano bounced back to strike out Mark Vientos before giving up a two-out, game-winning single to Starling Marte. Romano's Phillies' tenure has gotten off to a rough start -- his ERA now sits at 13.50 with a 2.25 WHIP and 9:6 K:BB through his first 9.1 innings. For now, Jose Alvarado figures to handle the bulk of save chances in Philly while Romano works in lower-leverage spots.
Zack Wheeler
Zack Wheeler Strikes out nine in quality start
Wed, Apr 23, 2025, 3:43 PM
Wheeler did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-inning loss to the Mets, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: Both runs against Wheeler came on Brett Baty's two-out homer in the second inning. Otherwise, the right-hander was excellent, recording his fourth quality start in six outings this year. The 34-year-old Wheeler sports a 3.62 ERA with a 1.02 WHIP and a league-leading 50 strikeouts through 37.1 innings this season. His next start currently lines up for next week against the Nationals.
Seth Johnson
Seth Johnson Shifts to bullpen at Triple-A
Wed, Apr 23, 2025, 11:35 AM
Johnson has been moved to a relief role at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Johnson made his first appearance out of the bullpen Tuesday, touching 98 mph across two scoreless innings with a 2:2 K:BB. The 26-year-old has a big arm but has struggled to stay healthy and throw strikes consistently, so the Phillies' decision to shift him to a relief role makes sense.
