Moving up to Double-A
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:33 AM
The Marlins promoted Cannarella from High-A Beloit to Double-A Pensacola on Monday, FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Cannarella missed more than a month of action earlier in the season after fracturing his wrist April 11, but he resumed raking for Beloit upon returning from the 7-day injured list. In his 12 games after being activated, the 22-year-old outfielder earned his promotion to Pensacola after slashing .404/.434/.577 with four extra-base hits while striking out at a 12.3 percent clip over 57 plate appearances.
Ryan Gusto
Ryan Gusto Call-up awaits
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 8:46 AM
The Marlins plan to recall Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville during their series in Washington that begins Monday, FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Miami is presumably earmarking Gusto for one of the two vacancies in its rotation, after Eury Perez (hamstring) and Janson Junk (shin) were both placed on the injured list over the weekend. The Marlins list Sandy Alcantara and Max Meyer as their starters for Monday and Wednesday, respectively, so Gusto will likely slot into the rotation for the middle game of the series Tuesday and will be deployed as either a traditional starter or bulk reliever. Since the Marlins optioned him to Jacksonville in early April, Gusto has turned in a 3.63 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 45:16 K:BB in 39.2 innings over nine appearances (six starts).
Promoted to Triple-A
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 8:24 AM
Milbrandt has been promoted from Double-A Pensacola to Triple-A Jacksonville, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Milbrandt was fantastic at Pensacola, posting a 1.34 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 70:17 K:BB through 47 innings to earn a promotion to the Marlins' top minor-league affiliate. With Robby Snelling (elbow) out for the season and Eury Perez (hamstring) and Janson Junk (shin) sidelined, the Marlins' rotation depth is running thin, giving the 22-year-old Milbrandt a chance to debut in 2026 if he pitches well at Jacksonville.
Zach Brzykcy
Zach Brzykcy Joining big-league roster
Sun, May 31, 2026, 7:57 PM
Brzykcy is expected to be called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Brzykcy will join the big-league club for the first time in 2026, looking to make his Marlins debut after being claimed by the team off waivers in November. The right-hander has posted a 4.79 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 24 strikeouts over 20.2 innings in 16 appearances out of the bullpen with Jacksonville so far this year.
John King
John King Takes loss as opener
Sun, May 31, 2026, 4:49 PM
King (1-1) took the loss against the Mets on Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits and no walks with two strikeouts over 1.2 innings.
Analysis: King opened the game and took the loss, as he was charged with two of the 10 runs the Mets scored against the Marlins in a bullpen game. The southpaw owns a 2.52 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB with three holds and one save across 25 innings this season, and Sunday's appearance was likely a one-off while the Marlins sort through their depleted rotation.
Andrew Nardi
Andrew Nardi Facing extended absence
Sun, May 31, 2026, 3:44 PM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said that Nardi is expected to miss about three months after landing on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a stress reaction in his left ribcage, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Nardi could be back with the Marlins for the final stretch of the season, but any problems during his rehab program could result in him missing the rest of the campaign. The rib injury is another tough setback on the health front for Nardi, who missed the entire 2025 season due to back problems.
Joe Mack
Joe Mack Idle Sunday
Sun, May 31, 2026, 1:00 PM
Mack is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Mack will receive a breather for Sunday's day game after he started behind the plate in the first two contests of the series. Liam Hicks will fill in for Mack as the Marlins' starting catcher.
John King
John King Drawing start in bullpen game
Sun, May 31, 2026, 12:49 PM
King is slated to serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher in Sunday's game against the Mets, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Janson Junk had been confirmed to start Sunday, but the Marlins made him a late scratch and placed him on the 15-day injured list due to a right shin injury. Miami has thus turned to King to make his first MLB start in what will be a bullpen day in the series finale in New York. King hasn't recorded more than four outs in any appearance this season, so he shouldn't be expected to work more than 1-to-2 innings.
Josh White
Josh White Ready for MLB debut
Sun, May 31, 2026, 11:59 AM
The Marlins recalled White from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
Analysis: White had been one of the Marlins' top relievers at Jacksonville this season, accruing a 1.24 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while striking out 30 batters over 29 innings. Consistently finding the strike zone has been an issue for the right-hander throughout his minor-league career, however, and after posting a 14.3 percent walk rate at Jacksonville, White may not be asked to handle a high-leverage role out of the bullpen right off the bat. The Marlins will be treating Sunday's series finale against the Mets as a bullpen game, so White could be called upon to cover an inning or two in relief once opening pitcher John King exits the game.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Winds up on 15-day IL
Sun, May 31, 2026, 11:34 AM
The Marlins placed Junk on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shin bone inflammation, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Junk becomes the third Miami starter to hit the shelf in less than a month, joining Robby Snelling (elbow) and Eury Perez (hamstring). According to De Nicola, Junk is projected to miss 2-to-3 weeks due to the injury, with a more definitive target date for his return to become more apparent as he moves through his throwing program. As a result of Junk being scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Mets, the Marlins will have left-hander John King open the game in what will be a bullpen day for Miami.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Not starting, could hit IL
Sun, May 31, 2026, 10:02 AM
Junk is no longer scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Mets and could be headed for the injured list, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Marlins haven't provided any details regarding what kind of issue Junk is dealing with, but he doesn't look like he'll be available out of the bullpen once opening pitcher John King exits the game Sunday. Junk has made 11 starts this season while posting a 3-5 record with a 4.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB in 60 innings.
Tyler Phillips
Tyler Phillips One bad inning in first loss
Sat, May 30, 2026, 10:10 PM
Phillips (0-1) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday; allowing three runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts over five innings.
Analysis: Phillips allowed four baserunners and three runs in the fourth inning while throwing just 43 of 72 pitches for strikes and generating only six whiffs. On the bright side, it was his longest outing of the season in both innings and pitches as he continues to get stretched out to remain in the rotation. The 28-year-old will carry a 1.63 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 33:19 K:BB across 38.2 innings between two starts and 15 relief appearances into a home matchup against the Rays next weekend.
William Kempner
William Kempner Recalled from Triple-A
Sat, May 30, 2026, 2:11 PM
The Marlins recalled Kempner from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Analysis: Since his demotion to Triple-A on May 6, Kempner has allowed just two earned runs over 10.1 innings while posting a 12:5 K:BB. His strong performance will now be rewarded through another trial in the majors as the roster replacement for Andrew Nardi (ribs).
Andrew Nardi
Andrew Nardi Placed on IL
Sat, May 30, 2026, 2:07 PM
The Marlins placed Nardi on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left ribcage stress reaction, retroactive to Thursday.
Analysis: Nardi gave up one run in 1.1 innings and took the loss during his last appearance Wednesday, and he appears to have picked up a rib injury in the process. Marlins manager Clayton McCullough relayed to reporters that Nardi has been battling through the injury for a while and his IL stint is expected to last "much longer" than the 15-day minimum, per Ely Sussman of Fish on First. The Marlins will bring William Kempner up from Triple-A Jacksonville to round out the bullpen.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Sitting down Saturday
Sat, May 30, 2026, 12:54 PM
Sanoja isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Sanoja will grab a seat on the bench after going 0-for-5 during Miami's loss in Friday's series opener. His absence will allow Christopher Morel to start at the hot corner while batting eighth.
Connor Norby
Connor Norby Sitting Saturday
Sat, May 30, 2026, 12:50 PM
Norby isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Norby will get a breather after going 1-for-5 with three strikeouts during Friday's series opener. Liam Hicks will get the nod at first base Saturday, and Leo Jimenez will serve as the DH.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Serves up walk-off homer
Sat, May 30, 2026, 10:24 AM
Fairbanks (2-3) took the loss Friday against the Mets, giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit while recording one out in the 10th inning.
Analysis: Brought on to keep the game tied at 7-7, Fairbanks instead served up a walk-off homer to MJ Melendez. The right-hander has allowed two homers in 5.1 innings over six appearances since returning in mid-May from nerve irritation in his hand, suggesting his command may not be as sharp as it was prior to the issue cropping up. Fairbanks has converted six of eight saves chances for the Marlins this season, but his 7.53 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB through 14.1 innings are far from his career ratios.
Kyle Stowers
Kyle Stowers Collects three hits vs. NYM
Fri, May 29, 2026, 10:42 PM
Stowers went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored during the Marlins' 9-7 extra-inning loss to the Mets on Friday.
Analysis: It was the third time this season that Stowers logged two doubles in a game, the second of which drove in a run in the fifth inning to cut the Marlins' deficit to 6-4. Though he's struggled at the plate this season, Stowers tied a season high with three hits Friday for his eighth multi-hit game of 2026. He is slashing .227/.313/.367 with three home runs and 11 RBI over 144 plate appearances.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Smacks game-tying homer Friday
Fri, May 29, 2026, 10:36 PM
Caissie went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during the Marlins' 9-7 extra-inning loss to the Mets on Friday.
Analysis: Caissie tied the game at 7-7 after taking Tobias Myers deep to right-center field for a two-run home run. It was the fifth home run of the season for Caissie, three of which have come over his last 15 games. In that 15-game span, the 23-year-old Canadian has gone 12-for-39 (.308) with 12 RBI and one steal.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Shaky in no-decision
Fri, May 29, 2026, 10:31 PM
Meyer did not factor into Friday's decision against the Mets, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six across six innings.
Analysis: Meyer put the Marlins in an early hole after giving up four runs in the first inning. He completed six innings despite the early setback, finishing with 10 whiffs while tossing 70 strikes on 106 pitches (66.0 percent). Despite giving up a season-high five earned runs, Meyer escaped with the no-decision thanks to his Marlins teammates. He sits at a 2.97 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 66.2 innings this season, and his 74 strikeouts are sixth most in the National League. Meyer is slated to start next week on the road against the Nationals.
