Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Awaiting MRI results on back
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 4:39 PM
Hicks is awaiting MRI results on his injured lower back, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Hicks was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a lower-back strain, and the Marlins will have a better idea as to proceed with his rehab after the MRI results are in. Manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Hicks feels improved but is "still stiff." The club could have more on Hicks' status later Monday.
Eury Perez
Eury Perez Could rejoin rotation Wednesday
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 4:36 PM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Perez (gracilis) "felt great" during his pitch design session and could rejoin the rotation Wednesday versus the Rangers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: As long as Perez recovers well from the session, he should be cleared to pitch Wednesday following a four-week absence due to a right gracilis muscle strain. Perez threw only 51 pitches in what is poised to be his lone rehab start, so he will not be prepared for a full workload against the Rangers.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Taking seat Monday
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 3:01 PM
Caissie is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Caissie will move to the bench after he went 5-for-13 with two home runs, two walks, one double, one stolen base, five RBI and two runs while making starts in each of the last four contests. With Caissie exiting the lineup, the Marlins will go with Griffin Conine at designated hitter and with Heriberto Hernandez, Jakob Marsee and Esteury Ruiz as their starting outfielders.
Zach Brzykcy
Zach Brzykcy Rejoins big-league bullpen
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 1:41 PM
The Marlins recalled Brzykcy from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Analysis: Brzykcy was with the Marlins briefly earlier this season but did not make an appearance. The right-handed reliever has turned in a 4.45 ERA and 34:18 K:BB over 30.1 frames for Jacksonville this season. Brzykcy could be sent back down later this week when Max Meyer returns from the bereavement list.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Heads to bereavement list
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 1:39 PM
The Marlins placed Meyer on the bereavement list Monday.
Analysis: Miami recalled reliever Zach Brzykcy to serve as a temporary replacement on the active roster for Meyer, who will remain away from the team from 3-to-7 days while he tends to a personal matter. Since Meyer last pitched Saturday and wasn't scheduled to pitch during the Marlins' three-game series versus Texas to begin the week, he could be ready to rejoin the club when his next turn through the rotation comes up Friday in St. Louis.
Michael Petersen
Michael Petersen Collects hold No. 10
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 9:00 AM
Petersen tossed a perfect eighth inning Sunday to record his 10th hold of the season in a win over the Giants. He didn't strike out a batter.
Analysis: Tasked with handling the top of the San Francisco order, Petersen allowed some hard contact to Bryce Eldridge and Casey Schmitt, but the balls found Miami gloves. Petersen leads the Marlins in holds on the season, with five of his 10 coming in June as he's posted a 2.45 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 11 innings on the month.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Completes pitch-design session
Mon, Jun 22, 2026, 7:01 AM
Junk (shin) threw a pitch-design session Friday and could be cleared to face hitters in live batting practice during the upcoming week, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Junk seems to be making good progress in his recovery from a right shin bone inflammation, which sent him to the injured list May 31. Once Junk resumes facing hitters, a minor-league rehab assignment should follow shortly thereafter. Junk may need just one start in the minors before slotting back into the Miami rotation, potentially in the first week of July.
Kyle Stowers
Kyle Stowers Launches eighth homer
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 7:58 PM
Stowers went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Stowers opened the scoring in the second inning, taking Logan Webb deep for a solo shot that proved to be a key run in Miami's one-run victory. The homer was his eighth of the season and continued a recent power surge, as he has now gone deep three times in his last four games. The outfielder is batting .230 with five homers and 17 RBI across 17 June contests. On the season, Stowers is slashing .223/.319/.416 with 12 doubles, one triple, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and one stolen base through 54 games.
Lake Bachar
Lake Bachar Records first save
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 7:42 PM
Bachar earned the save Sunday against the Giants, working a scoreless ninth inning with one walk in a 2-1 victory.
Analysis: With Pete Fairbanks having recorded saves in each of the previous two days, Bachar was entrusted with a one-run lead in the ninth inning Sunday. He successfully closed the door after working around a leadoff walk to Rafael Devers to secure his first save of the season. While he isn't a regular fixture in the ninth inning, Bachar has been one of Miami's steadier relievers lately, allowing just two runs over his last 13 innings. He now owns a 3.02 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 46:16 K:BB across 41.2 innings on the season.
Ryan Gusto
Ryan Gusto Fans six in no-decision
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 7:27 PM
Gusto did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Giants, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 4.1 innings.
Analysis: Gusto turned in one of his better outings of the season, setting a season high with six strikeouts. The lone blemish came in the third inning, when he allowed a walk and two hits, including an RBI single by Casey Schmitt. Outside of that frame, Gusto kept the Giants largely in check and showed more improvement in the swing-and-miss department. While the overall results have been uneven, he has at least proven capable of handling a starter's role when called upon, which could earn him additional opportunities in the rotation moving forward. Despite the encouraging outing, the right-hander still owns a 6.00 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 18 innings this season.
Josh Ekness
Josh Ekness Shifts to 60-day IL
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 12:42 PM
The Marlins transferred Ekness (calf) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
Analysis: When Ekness was initially placed on the IL on June 1 due to a right calf strain, manager Clayton McCullough indicated that the right-handed reliever would be out for approximately six weeks. Ekness' move to the 60-day IL likely pushes his absence into August. The 24-year-old posted a 1.69 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 5:5 K:BB in 5.1 innings over six appearances for Miami prior to being injured.
Brian Navarreto
Brian Navarreto Summoned from Triple-A
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 12:37 PM
The Marlins selected Navarreto's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
Analysis: He'll provide Miami with a second option at catcher behind Joe Mack after the Marlins moved Liam Hicks (back) to the 10-day injured list Sunday. Mack is expected to shoulder a heftier workload behind the dish while Hicks is shelved, so Navarreto may not get more than a start or two a week while he's up.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Sitting Sunday
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 12:35 PM
Sanoja is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Sanoja will be held out of the starting nine for the series finale while the Marlins go with their third different third baseman in as many days. Connor Norby will get a turn at the hot corner Sunday after Sanoja and Leo Jimenez made starts at the position in the first two contests of the series.
Heriberto Hernandez
Heriberto Hernandez Dropped from starting nine Sunday
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 12:33 PM
Hernandez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Hernandez will be given a breather after he started in the first two games of the series and went 2-for-7 with a home run, a double, a walk and two RBI. The Marlins will go with Esteury Ruiz in left field on Sunday.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Heads to IL with back strain
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 12:29 PM
The Marlins placed Hicks on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a lower-back strain.
Analysis: Hicks was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 6-3 win over the Giants due to what was initially reported as lower-back tightness, and he'll miss at least another nine days after being diagnosed with a strain. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, manager Clayton McCullough said that he believes that Hicks' injury was detected quickly enough for him to avoid an extended absence, though the skipper acknowledged that the Marlins won't known until around the middle of the week whether the 27-year-old has a chance at returning from the IL when first eligible June 30. Griffin Conine (hamstring) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Sunday and is the most likely candidate to fill Hicks' vacated spot in the lineup.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Brought back from 60-day IL
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 10:54 AM
The Marlins reinstated Conine (hamstring) from the 60-day injured list Sunday. He'll start in right field and bat second in the Marlins' series finale against the Giants.
Analysis: Conine is back with the big club for the first time since early April after a prolonged absence due to a left hamstring tear that required surgery. During a three-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville, he went 4-for-10 with a home run while making one start apiece at first base and in right and left field. With Miami placing Liam Hicks (back) on the 10-day IL on Sunday, Conine could have a fairly clear runway to regular playing time against right-handed pitching.
Christopher Morel
Christopher Morel Cast off 40-man roster
Sun, Jun 21, 2026, 10:45 AM
The Marlins designated Morel for assignment Sunday.
Analysis: The Marlins will finally cut Morel loose after he posted a .162/.219/.206 slash line with a 38.4 percent strikeout rate through 73 plate appearances. He joined Miami on a one-year, $2 million contract in December, and he seems likely to clear waivers since the claiming team would be on the hook for his remaining salary.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Reaches 100 hits in win
Sat, Jun 20, 2026, 8:12 PM
Lopez went 1-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Lopez got things going early, stealing second base after reaching on an error in the first inning and scoring the game's first run. According to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, he then became the first player this season to reach 100 hits with a single in the fourth. The 27-year-old has hit safely in 14 of 17 June contests, batting .338 with seven extra-base hits, seven RBI, 15 runs scored and five stolen bases during that stretch. On the year, he leads the majors with a .332 average to go along with five homers, 32 RBI, 47 runs scored and 15 steals across 324 plate appearances.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Secures 11th save
Sat, Jun 20, 2026, 7:44 PM
Fairbanks earned the save in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Giants, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.
Analysis: Fairbanks was called upon to slam the door for a second straight night, needing just 15 pitches to protect a three-run lead. The 32-year-old has now converted his past six save chances, holding opponents scoreless in nine of 12 appearances during that stretch. On the year, he's 11-for-13 in save opportunities with a 6.14 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB across 22 innings.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Improves to 8-0
Sat, Jun 20, 2026, 7:39 PM
Meyer (8-0) earned the win against the Giants on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over five innings.
Analysis: Meyer threw 66 of 98 pitches for strikes while generating nine whiffs and limiting the Giants to just four hard-hit balls, all of which went for extra-base hits. The 27-year-old has yielded just six earned runs through four June outings, going 3-0 with a 28:9 K:BB over 23.1 innings during that stretch. He'll take a 2.80 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 102:34 K:BB across 90 innings this season into a road matchup against the Cardinals next weekend.
