Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Another multi-hit game
Sat, May 2, 2026, 6:21 PM
Lopez went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored during Miami's 4-0 win over Philadelphia on Saturday.
Analysis: Lopez came home to score in the third inning after Connor Norby drew a bases-loaded walk, and the former gave the Marlins their fourth run of the game after his infield single scored Esteury Ruiz. Lopez is up to 12 multi-hit games on the season, four of which have come over his last eight outings. The 27-year-old shortstop has accumulated 43 hits and has a .336 batting average, both of which are second-best in the majors behind Shea Langeliers (45 hits) and Ildemaro Vargas (.388 BA), respectively.
Xavier Edwards
Xavier Edwards Swats second homer of season
Sat, May 2, 2026, 6:12 PM
Edwards went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Marlins' 4-0 win over the Phillies on Saturday.
Analysis: Edwards extended the Marlins' lead to 3-0 after smacking a solo homer off Andrew Painer in the fifth inning. It was Edwards' second home run of the season, with his first taking place April 3 against the Mets. He has reached base safely in eight consecutive games, and over that span he has gone 10-for-28 (.357) with two steals, six walks and four RBI.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Blanks Phillies in Saturday's win
Sat, May 2, 2026, 6:08 PM
Meyer (2-0) earned the win against Philadelphia on Saturday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out seven across seven scoreless innings.
Analysis: Meyer set the tone early by striking out three of the first four batters he faced. He allowed just two baserunners during his outing and generated 15 whiffs on 83 pitches (55 strikes). It was the first quality start of the season for Meyer and first since May 21, 2025 against the Cubs. Saturday's efforts improved the right-hander's numbers to a 2.68 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB across 37 innings. Meyer is tentatively lined up to face the Orioles at home next week.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Scratched with illness
Sat, May 2, 2026, 12:31 PM
Cassie was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Phillies due to an illness, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: With Cassie not feeling well, the Marlins will start Esteury Ruiz, Jakob Marsee and Kyle Stowers in the outfield from left to right for Saturday's contest. Cassie has struggled at the plate since mid-April, having gone 6-for-45 (.133) with three RBI and a 47.9 percent strikeout rate over his last 15 games.
Cade Gibson
Cade Gibson Heading back to Triple-A
Sat, May 2, 2026, 11:13 AM
The Marlins optioned Gibson to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Analysis: The move corresponds with the Marlins selecting Josh Ekness's contract from Jacksonville. Gibson was recalled by the Marlins on Tuesday but was roughed up in his lone outing with the big club Friday against the Phillies, allowing four runs on five hits (including a home run) and one walk while striking out one batter across 1.2 innings. Gibson will head back to Triple-A, where he sports a respectable 2.63 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB across 13.2 innings.
Contract selected
Sat, May 2, 2026, 8:55 AM
The Marlins selected Ekness's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Although he's logged an impressive 21:6 K:BB, Ekness has struggled to limit runs in Triple-A this year, turning in a 5.68 ERA and 1.56 WHIP across 12.2 innings. He'll now join the major-league bullpen despite his difficulties and will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.
Connor Norby
Connor Norby Out of Friday's lineup
Fri, May 1, 2026, 2:31 PM
Norby is absent from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Phillies.
Analysis: Norby had started each of the previous six tilts but will get a breather in Friday's series opener. Christopher Morel will hold down first base for the Marlins.
Out with wrist injury
Fri, May 1, 2026, 11:28 AM
Head was placed on High-A Beloit's 7-day injured list after suffering a wrist injury April 11, FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: The Marlins were initially hopeful that Head would avoid a stint on the IL after injuring his wrist, but he's since been deactivated after having not played in three weeks. The outfielder was off to a poor start to the season with Beloit, going 1-for-20 with a 2:4 BB:K over his first six games.
Back in action at High-A
Fri, May 1, 2026, 11:24 AM
Arquette (groin) has gone 3-for-8 with three doubles, five RBI, two runs and one stolen base in two games since being reinstated from High-A Beloit's 7-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: Arquette missed the first month of the minor-league season after undergoing core muscle surgery to address a left groin injury in late February. The 6-foot-5 infielder has returned to Beloit after posting a .673 OPS in his first professional season in 2025, but the 22-year-old's hot start since being activated from the IL could put him in line for a promotion to Double-A Pensacola in the coming weeks.
Looking healthy in 2026
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 10:03 AM
Caba is slashing .295/.405/.459 with an 11:16 BB:K through 16 games with High-A Beloit.
Analysis: The 20-year-old shortstop dealt with a thumb injury last season that limited his production at the plate, but Caba appears to be healthy and back on track with his development in 2026. Acquired from the Phillies in the Jesus Luzardo trade ahead of the 2024 campaign, Caba's glovework remains his biggest asset, but he has enough speed and on-base skills to potentially be a contributor at the bottom of a big-league lineup in a few years.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Goes yard in return to lineup
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 9:23 AM
Hicks went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: The 26-year-old sat out Tuesday's game due to an illness, but Hicks looked pretty healthy in his return to action when he led off the second inning by launching a Tyler Glasnow offering down the right-field line for his seventh homer of the year. It was Hicks' third long ball in his last four starts, and on the season he continues to boast an impressive .315/.365/.576 slash line over 104 plate appearances with one steal, 18 runs and 28 RBI -- tied with Matt Olson for second in the National League behind Sal Stewart's 29.
Esteury Ruiz
Esteury Ruiz Homer, stolen base in win
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 6:43 AM
Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: Making just his second start since returning from the IL, Ruiz had a big impact in Wednesday's victory over his former team. He put Miami ahead 2-1 in the fifth inning with his first homer of the year, which came off Tyler Glasnow, and he subsequently added his first steal. Ruiz appeared in 19 games with the Dodgers in 2025, where he slashed .190/.261/.333 with just one homer and four steals. The speedy outfielder should see fairly regular playing time in Miami's lineup, particularly against left-handed pitching.
Calvin Faucher
Calvin Faucher Notches first save Wednesday
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 6:40 PM
Faucher earned the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers, working around three walks in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: After Pete Fairbanks (hand) landed on the IL on Tuesday, it was Faucher who got the second crack at the ninth-inning job Wednesday after Tyler Phillips picked up the save Tuesday night. It didn't come easy for the right-hander -- Faucher walked the bases loaded with one out, but he managed to induce a game-ending double play off the bat of Freddie Freeman to seal a one-run victory. The 30-year-old Faucher sports a 4.91 ERA with a 1.82 WHIP and 13:12 K:BB across 11 innings this season. He figures to share closing duties with Phillips and Anthony Bender while Fairbanks is sidelined.
Sandy Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara Sharp against Dodgers
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 6:33 PM
Alcantara did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: While he didn't come away with the win, Alcantara did deliver a second straight quality start en route to an eventual 3-2 Miami victory. Alcantara has delivered quality starts in five of his seven outings this season. His ERA sits at 3.04 with a 1.16 WHIP and 31:15 K:BB across 47.1 innings. Alcantara is currently lined up to face the Orioles at home his next time out.
Christopher Morel
Christopher Morel Looks stuck in part-time role
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 12:47 PM
Morel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: After being reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Morel ended up making just one start during the Marlins' three-game series in Los Angeles. Though he had appeared to secure the everyday gig at first base coming out of spring training before straining his left oblique right before the Marlins' Opening Day game, Morel looks like he'll have to settle for a part-time role now that he's healthy again. Connor Norby has served as the Marlins' primary first baseman this season amid Morel's extended absence and has provided an adequate .722 OPS over 105 plate appearances.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Receiving day off
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 12:42 PM
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: Ramirez will be rested for the day game after he started behind the plate in the first two contests of the series in Los Angeles. Liam Hicks will handle catching duties Wednesday, and Kyle Stowers will serve as Miami's designated hitter.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Cleared to start Wednesday
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 12:40 PM
Hicks (illness) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: Hicks ended up being scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 2-1 win after falling ill, but he made enough progress overnight to rejoin the starting nine for the series finale. The second-year player has been one of the more productive bats in the Miami lineup this season, producing a 143 wRC+ while batting .311 with six home runs, one stolen base, 27 RBI and 17 runs in 28 games.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Keeps banging out hits
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 9:42 AM
Lopez went 3-for-5 with a double in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: The 27-year-old shortstop has hit safely in 14 of the last 16 games with three three-hit performances, a stretch in which he's batting .333 (22-for-66). Lopez is coming off a breakout 2025 but doesn't appear to have reached his ceiling, and the surge has pushed his slash line on the season to .325/.366/.500 with seven doubles, two triples, three homers, four steals, 12 RBI and 20 runs in 29 contests.
Connor Norby
Connor Norby Swipes first two bags of season
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 9:36 AM
Norby went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: A late addition to the lineup at DH due to an illness for Liam Hicks, Norby knocked a one-out single in the eighth inning and then promptly stole second and third base off the battery of Blake Treinen and Will Smith before being stranded. They were the first SBs of the season for Norby, and over his last 18 games he's slashing a solid .270/.347/.460 with three doubles, three homers, five runs and nine RBI. With Christopher Morel off the IL, Norby could be headed for a super-utility role that sees him bounce between first base, third base and DH as needed.
Christopher Morel
Christopher Morel Hitless in season debut
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 9:32 AM
Morel went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: Activated from the injured list Monday after an oblique strain delayed the start of his 2026 campaign, Morel got the start at first base Tuesday and batted eighth in his Marlins debut. The 26-year-old was expected to be the team's primary first baseman back in the spring, but Connor Norby has worked his way into the picture in his absence. The two both hit right-handed, so a platoon is unlikely, but they could split the workload until one of them seizes the starting gig with a hot streak.
