Sandy Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara Fans seven in Sunday's win
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 3:19 PM
Alcantara (5-4) earned the win against the Rays on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings.
Analysis: It was another strong effort out of Alcantara, with his lone blemish being an RBI single that he gave up to Yandy Diaz in the third inning. Alcantara tossed 58 strikes on 90 pitches while generating 11 whiffs, and his seven strikeouts matched a season high that he set against the White Sox on April 1. He's logged quality starts in back-to-back outings and now sits at a 4.33 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 89.1 innings this season. He's also up to 57 career wins with the Marlins, which is third-most in franchise history behind Ricky Nolasco (81) and southpaw Dontrelle Willis (68). Alcantara is slated to start next weekend on the road against the Pirates.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Pops second homer in win
Sat, Jun 6, 2026, 11:07 PM
Sanoja went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rays.
Analysis: Sanoja turned in his fourth three-hit game of the season Saturday. Despite the eruption, the 23-year-old utility man doesn't seem to have a clear pathway to consistent action at any position for the Marlins. Through 135 at-bats, Sanoja is hitting .267 with two homers, 10 doubles, 22 RBI and three stolen bases.
Tyler Zuber
Tyler Zuber Puts out fire for first save
Sat, Jun 6, 2026, 10:55 PM
Zuber secured the save Saturday against the Rays, allowing no baserunners in one-third of an inning. He struck out one.
Analysis: Closer Pete Fairbanks allowed a pair of runs to let the Rays right back into the game, but Zuber quickly extinguish the fire by fanning Junior Caminero for the final out. It's hard to envision Zuber, who saw his first career save chance Saturday, seeing consistent high-leverage work going forward. It was only his second major-league appearance of the year after Zuber opened the year with Triple-A Jacksonville.
Lake Bachar
Lake Bachar Perfect as opener Saturday
Sat, Jun 6, 2026, 10:48 PM
Bachar didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Rays, throwing three clean innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: Bachar gave the Marlins exactly what they desired during a bullpen game, firing three flawless frames as an opener. Through 34.1 innings, the 31-year-old right-hander has an impressive 3.15 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 38:11 K:BB with one hold. His next assignment is undetermined, and it's also unclear how Miami will be deploying Bachar going forward.
Christopher Morel
Christopher Morel Not in Saturday's lineup
Sat, Jun 6, 2026, 11:33 AM
Morel is not in the Marlins' starting lineup against the Rays on Saturday.
Analysis: Even though the Rays are sending southpaw Shane McClanahan to the mound, the right-handed-hitting Morel will be on the bench for the start of Saturday's game while Leo Jimenez serves as the Marlins' designated hitter and Javier Sanoja starts at third base. Morel has seen a noticeable decline in his playing time due to his struggles at the plate, with the 26-year-old slashing .172/.232/.219 with one steal, one RBI and a 39.1 percent strikeout rate across 69 plate appearances this season.
Tyler Phillips
Tyler Phillips Shaky in piggyback role
Sat, Jun 6, 2026, 9:47 AM
Phillips didn't factor into the decision in Friday's loss to the Rays, giving up three runs on seven hits and three walks over 4.2 relief innings, He struck out three.
Analysis: The right-hander worked in tandem with Ryan Gusto, who got the start and took the loss after coughing up three runs of his own in just two innings. Phillips wound up tossing 82 pitches (50 strikes) to help save the rest of the bullpen, and he even took a comebacker off the foot from Yandy Diaz in the fifth inning but was able to stay in the game. The Marlins' injury-depleted staff can ill afford to lose another arm, and assuming the foot isn't an issue, Phillips should get another turn as a starter or bulk reliever during next week's home series against the Diamondbacks. Over 18 appearances (two starts) this season, he carries a 2.08 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 36:22 K:BB in 43.1 innings.
Lake Bachar
Lake Bachar Opening Saturday
Fri, Jun 5, 2026, 9:46 PM
Bachar will serve as the opening pitcher in Saturday's game against the Rays, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Analysis: Bachar pitched 2.2 shutout innings when the Marlins last relied on him to work as an opener Tuesday, so they'll give him another opening assignment during Saturday's contest. It's unknown whether Miami will use a bulk reliever behind Bachar or opt for a traditional bullpen game.
Ryan Gusto
Ryan Gusto Takes loss as Friday's opener
Fri, Jun 5, 2026, 9:35 PM
Gusto (0-1) took the loss against the Rays on Friday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one batter in two innings.
Analysis: Gusto made his first start of the season Friday, but it was a rough outing for the 27-year-old right-hander. He gave up all three of his runs in the first inning and tossed 33 pitches before turning the keys over to Tyler Phillips in the third. Unfortunately for Gusto, he was unable to avoid the loss, as his Marlins teammates were limited to just two hits and a walk in a shutout. He has given up six runs across his two outings since being called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
Likely out for season
Fri, Jun 5, 2026, 7:29 PM
White was diagnosed with a left shoulder capsular sprain Friday and is expected to miss the rest of the season, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: The timeline for White's return is 12-to-16 weeks, and although that still leaves room for him to potentially return in September, the more likely outcome is that the Marlins simply shut him down for the year. The 21-year-old southpaw is considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in Miami's farm system, and he'll likely finish the Triple-A season with a 4.34 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB over 18.2 innings.
Leo Jimenez
Leo Jimenez Taking seat Friday
Fri, Jun 5, 2026, 2:27 PM
Jimenez is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Rays.
Analysis: Jimenez had started two of the last three games versus right-handed pitching, but he'll take a seat in this one as the Rays send righty Drew Rasmussen to the bump. It will be Javier Sanoja handling third base in the series opener.
Connor Norby
Connor Norby Not in Friday's lineup
Fri, Jun 5, 2026, 2:24 PM
Norby is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: Norby is in a 3-for-34 slump at the plate, so he will get a day to regroup. Kyle Stowers will cover first base for the Marlins, and Esteury Ruiz is getting the call in left field.
Tyler Phillips
Tyler Phillips Set for bulk-relief outing Friday
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 12:59 PM
Phillips will enter Friday's game versus the Rays at some point after starting pitcher Ryan Gusto, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Each of Phillips' last two appearances were traditional starts, but he'll come out of the bullpen Friday. The right-hander went five innings and threw 72 pitches his last time out, so he'll likely provide length Friday in what could be a piggyback start with Gusto.
Ryan Gusto
Ryan Gusto Starting Friday's game
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 12:54 PM
Gusto will start Friday's game against the Rays, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Tyler Phillips is also expected to pitch in what could be a piggyback start for the Marlins. Gusto threw just two innings and allowed three runs in a relief outing Tuesday versus the Nationals in his first big-league appearance this season. However, while he will be pitching on just two days' rest Friday after tossing 40 pitches Tuesday, Gusto had lasted five-plus innings in five of his last seven outings for Triple-A Jacksonville prior to his promotion, so he's capable of pitching deeper into games than he did Tuesday.
Jakob Marsee
Jakob Marsee Swipes 15th bag
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 10:50 AM
Marsee went 1-for-1 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
Analysis: While he wasn't in the starting lineup against left-hander Andrew Alvarez, Marsee pinch hit for Esteury Ruiz in the sixth inning and took advantage of his opportunities. Marsee struggled to make a consistent impact at the plate to begin the season, but over his last 18 games he's slashing .263/.400/.404 with one home run, three of his career-high 15 steals, three RBI and 13 runs.
Esteury Ruiz
Esteury Ruiz Swats third homer
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 10:46 AM
Ruiz went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
Analysis: With southpaw Andrew Alvarez on the mound for Washington, Ruiz got the start in center field and took him deep in the second inning to open the scoring, but the 27-year-old was replaced by Jakob Marsee in the sixth inning once Alvarez was out of the game. Ruiz is batting just .191 (9-for-47) so far as a Marlin, but seven of his nine hits have gone for extra bases -- including three homers -- and he's stolen eight bags in nine attempts, giving him some appeal as a bargain DFS option on days when he's in the lineup.
Calvin Faucher
Calvin Faucher Collects fourth hold
Thu, Jun 4, 2026, 10:42 AM
Faucher walked one and struck out one in a scoreless eighth inning Wednesday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Nationals.
Analysis: The right-hander was the bridge between an impressive outing by Max Meyer and closer Pete Fairbanks in the ninth. It was Faucher's first hold since April 27 as the rest of the Miami bullpen remains extremely volatile in terms of roles and usage. Over 25 appearances and 24 innings this season, Faucher also has four wins and a save while producing a 4.13 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 27:20 K:BB.
Matt Pushard
Matt Pushard Returned to Miami
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 6:12 PM
Pushard cleared waivers Wednesday and was returned to the Marlins, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Analysis: After being selected by the Cardinals in the Rule 5 Draft, Pushard allowed four earned runs over seven innings before being DFA'd by St. Louis on Sunday. The 28-year-old will now return to his previous organization after passing through waivers unclaimed, and he'll presumably fill in as bullpen depth at Triple-A Jacksonville.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Nails down seventh save
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 3:46 PM
Fairbanks gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Nationals.
Analysis: He also hit a batter with a pitch to make things interesting, but after the first two Washington hitters reached base to begin the frame, Fairbanks buckled down and escaped the jam. Over eight appearances since returning in mid-May from nerve irritation in his right hand, he's posted a 2.46 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB over 7.1 innings while collecting two wins and two saves in three chances.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Sharp in sixth win
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 3:42 PM
Meyer (6-0) picked up the win Wednesday in a 4-1 victory over the Nationals, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: A fielder's choice and an Otto Lopez error in the fourth inning produced the only damage against Meyer in a dominant performance. The right-hander tossed 92 pitches (57 strikes) en route to his fourth quality start in his last seven outings, a stretch in which he's delivered a 2.47 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 48:15 K:BB over 43.2 innings. Meyer will look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Diamondbacks.
Anthony Bender
Anthony Bender Snags fifth hold
Wed, Jun 3, 2026, 10:34 AM
Bender struck out one in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning Tuesday to record his fifth hold of the season in a win over the Nationals.
Analysis: The right-hander picked up his first hold since April 28 as the Marlins continue to mix and match bullpen options behind closer Pete Fairbanks. Bender hasn't pitched poorly of late -- quite the opposite in fact, as he's posted a 1.46 ERA, 12:1 K:BB and microscopic 0.24 WHIP over 12.1 innings since the beginning of May. Without more consistent usage, however, Bender's fantasy appeal will remain very limited.
