Andrew Nardi Avoids arbitration with Miami
Thu, Jan 8, 2026, 7:17 PM
Nardi and the Marlins agreed to a one-year contract to avoid arbitration Thursday, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Nardi is in his first year of arbitration eligibility, so it's likely a modest deal. He posted a 5.07 ERA across 49.2 innings of work in 2025, though he had a far more impressive 70:18 K: BB. Nardi could be in for better results in 2026.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Comes to terms with Miami
Thu, Jan 8, 2026, 6:48 PM
Meyer (hip) and the Marlins agreed to a one-year contract to avoid arbitration Thursday,Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Meyer has struggled with injuries throughout his big-league career and made only 12 starts in 2025. He posted a 68:20 K:BB across 64.2 frames before being sidelined in early July, but he figures to be ready for spring training. Meyer should have a rotation spot to begin 2026.
Ryan Weathers
Ryan Weathers Agrees to deal with Miami
Thu, Jan 8, 2026, 4:59 PM
Weathers agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.35 million with the Marlins on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Weathers opened the 2025 campaign on the Marlins' injured list due to a forearm strain, but after making his season debut in mid-May, he wound up back on the IL with a lat strain after just five starts. The 26-year-old southpaw was cleared to return in September, and over his last three outings of the season he posted a 1-1 record with a 5.27 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB across 13.2 innings. Weathers has started in only 39 major-league games over the last three seasons, but if he remains healthy, he should serve in a prominent role in the Marlins' rotation in 2026.
Braxton Garrett
Braxton Garrett Avoids arbitration
Thu, Jan 8, 2026, 3:48 PM
The Marlins and Garrett (elbow) avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.53 million contract Thursday, Fish on First reports.
Analysis: Garrett will receive the same salary for a second straight year after he missed all of the 2025 season following UCL revision surgery with an internal brace on his left elbow. The southpaw is a little over a year removed from the operation and it's unclear whether he will be ready in time for Opening Day.
Anthony Bender
Anthony Bender Avoids arbitration with Marlins
Thu, Jan 8, 2026, 12:38 PM
The Marlins and Bender avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.81 million contract Thursday, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Bender finished with a 2.16 ERA in 2025, though his strikeout rate dropped to 20.6 percent and walk rate ballooned to 10.3 percent. The veteran reliever is in line to serve in a setup role for the Marlins in 2026 ahead of closer Pete Fairbanks.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Lands in Miami via trade
Wed, Jan 7, 2026, 3:41 PM
The Marlins acquired Caissie, Cristian Hernandez and Edgardo De Leon from the Cubs on Wednesday in exchange for Edward Cabrera, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Caissie has nothing left to prove in the minors, having slashed .281/.380/.507 with 41 home runs at Triple-A Iowa over the last two seasons. The 23-year-old struggled in his cup of coffee with the Cubs in 2025 and has posted a 29.1 percent strikeout rate in the minors, but Caissie's power will play in the majors if he makes enough contact. He's the favorite to open the 2026 season as the Marlins' primary right fielder.
Eric Wagaman
Eric Wagaman Loses 40-man roster spot
Mon, Dec 29, 2025, 6:29 PM
Wagaman was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Monday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Wagaman is the roster casualty following the addition of Esteury Ruiz from the Dodgers. Wagaman slashed .250/.296/.378 with nine home runs and four steals in 514 plate appearances for the Marlins in 2025. He has some intriguing offensive traits, including strong bat speed and solid swing decisions, but Wagaman's lack of notable power (.128 ISO) in his age-27 season while playing at the bottom of the defensive spectrum made him expendable.
Esteury Ruiz
Esteury Ruiz Shipped to Miami
Mon, Dec 29, 2025, 6:07 PM
The Marlins acquired Ruiz from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for Adriano Marrero, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Analysis: Ruiz got into 19 games with the Dodgers in 2025, going 4-for-21 with one home run and four stolen bases. The 26-year-old led the American League with 67 steals in 2023, but he's managed just a .241/.296/.343 batting line over parts of four major-league seasons and is regarded as a poor defensive outfielder. Ruiz has a better chance to make the Marlins' Opening Day roster than he would have the Dodgers', but he does have minor-league options remaining.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Lands in Miami on one-year deal
Wed, Dec 24, 2025, 11:56 AM
Fairbanks and the Marlins agreed Wednesday on a one-year, $13 million contract, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Tampa Bay declined Fairbanks' $11 million club option for 2026 earlier this offseason, but the reliever ended up securing an extra $2 million after hitting the open market. The deal also includes a $1 million signing bonus and another $1 million in appearance-based incentives, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The Marlins took a committee approach to the closer position in 2025, but Fairbanks' contract should give him some security as the Marlins' preferred ninth-inning man heading into spring training. Though staying healthy has often been an issue for Fairbanks throughout his career, he continued to pitch effectively in his age-31 season in 2025, logging a 2.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 59:18 K:BB while converting 27 of 32 save chances across 60.1 innings with the Rays.
Ronny Henriquez
Ronny Henriquez To miss 2026 season
Mon, Dec 22, 2025, 6:34 PM
Henriquez underwent a UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace procedure on his right elbow and will miss the 2026 season, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Henriquez appeared in line to compete for save chances heading into the 2026 campaign after putting together an impressive 2025 season. He posted a 2.22 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with a 98:27 K:BB and seven saves in 11 chances across 73.0 innings. However, he'll now shift his focus to rehabbing following a recent season-ending surgery. The Marlins expect him to be ready for next year's spring training, per an update from the team.
Brian Navarreto
Brian Navarreto Re-ups with Marlins
Thu, Dec 18, 2025, 8:37 AM
The Marlins re-signed Navarreto to a minor-league contract Monday.
Analysis: Navarreto elected free agency last month after being outrighted off the Marlins' 40-man roster, but he's found his way back into the organization. The 30-year-old got into eight games with Miami in 2025, going 4-for-14 with one home run. Navarreto is likely pegged for Triple-A Jacksonville to begin the 2026 campaign.
Christopher Morel
Christopher Morel Lands with Miami on one-year deal
Fri, Dec 12, 2025, 12:25 PM
The Marlins signed Morel to a one-year contract Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Marlins plan to use Morel at first base, a position he has never played before. Given the team's lack of other options at first base, Morel should have a chance to be the regular there if he can prove to be adequate defensively. Morel flashed loads of promise earlier in his career, particularly in 2023 with the Cubs when he posted a .821 OPS with 26 home runs over only 429 plate appearances. He has just a .651 OPS since then and his strikeout rate spiked to 35.7 percent in 2025 with the Rays. Morel still makes loud contact when he connects (49.7 percent hard-hit rate, 14.8 percent barrel rate in 2025), and the Marlins will try to get him to cut down on the swing-and-miss. He will be arbitration-eligible in 2027 and 2028.
Zach Brzykcy
Zach Brzykcy Outrighted to Jacksonville
Fri, Dec 5, 2025, 4:37 PM
Brzykcy cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Jacksonville, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Brzykcy was claimed off waivers in November after he posted a 9.00 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 23 innings with the Nationals this year. He'll remain in the organization but lose his roster spot, giving Miami an opening on the 40-man heading into the Rule 5 Draft.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Will play some first base in spring
Thu, Dec 4, 2025, 8:46 AM
Conine will be given reps at first base during spring training, Ken Rosenthal and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic report.
Analysis: Conine has not played anywhere other than the corner-outfield spots in pro ball, but the Marlins plan to give him a test run at first base. The position is wide open, so Conine could even start there if he adapts well to first base. Conine missed most of the 2025 season following surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder, but he returned late in the year and enters the offseason healthy.
Tyler Zuber
Tyler Zuber Returns to Miami on MiLB deal
Thu, Nov 27, 2025, 10:05 AM
The Marlins re-signed Zuber to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
Analysis: Zuber got into 10 games between the Mets and Marlins in 2025, yielding 15 runs over 12 frames. The 30-year-old reliever has a career 6.26 ERA at the big-league level but has struck out 73 across 64.2 innings. Zuber is likely to start next season at Triple-A Jacksonville.
Joey Wiemer
Joey Wiemer DFA'd by Miami
Tue, Nov 18, 2025, 5:33 PM
The Marlins designated Weimer for assignment Tuesday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old had a .715 OPS in 27 games for Miami in 2025 but will lose his place on the 40-man roster in order to create roster space ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. Weimer could be outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville or elect to refuse the assignment and become a free agent.
Jack Winkler
Jack Winkler Receives outright assignment
Thu, Nov 6, 2025, 2:36 PM
The Marlins outrighted Winkler to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Analysis: Winkler will remain in the Marlins' organization, but he'll be removed from the 40-man roster. The 27-year-old infielder made 14 appearances with Miami in 2025, going 4-for-16 with two doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Christian Roa
Christian Roa Outrighted to Triple-A
Thu, Nov 6, 2025, 2:35 PM
Roa cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Analysis: Roa pitched three scoreless innings for the Marlins this season but spent most of his time in Triple-A, where he posted a 2.83 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 60.1 frames. Despite his strong performance, he'll now lose his place on Miami's 40-man roster and aim to earn it back during spring training.
Zach Brzykcy
Zach Brzykcy Claimed by Miami
Thu, Nov 6, 2025, 2:31 PM
The Marlins claimed Brzykcy off waivers Thursday from the Nationals.
Analysis: Brzykcy appeared in 26 games with the Nationals in 2025, posting a 9.00 ERA and a 24:12 K:BB across 23 innings. He closed out the season at Triple-A Rochester, but he logged a 17.18 ERA across 11 innings with Rochester after being optioned there Aug. 5. Brzykcy will get a fresh start in Miami.
Brian Navarreto
Brian Navarreto Outrighted to Triple-A
Wed, Nov 5, 2025, 3:45 PM
The Marlins outrighted Navarreto to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Analysis: Having been outrighted before, Navarreto can reject Wednesday's outright assignment and become a free agent if he wants. The catcher went 4-for-14 at the dish during his brief time with Miami in 2025.
