Jakob Marsee
Jakob Marsee Steals four bases Tuesday
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 11:02 PM
Marsee went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and four stolen bases in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: Marsee stole six bases all of last season and entered play Tuesday with one through 10 games. The Marlins made it a point to run on Tyler Stephenson all night and went a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen bases as a team Tuesday. Marsee reached base three times for the first time in 2026, as he came into the game with a total of four hits and five walks. The second-year outfielder is now slashing .143/.245/.214 with two extra-base hits, two RBI, seven runs scored, five stolen bases and a 6:14 BB:K across 43 plate appearances.
Anthony Bender
Anthony Bender Blows save against Cincinnati
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 10:53 PM
Bender suffered his second blown save in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Reds, allowing one walk with one strikeout across two-thirds of an inning.
Analysis: After Sandy Alcantara allowed a double and a walk with one out in the ninth inning, Bender came on to protect a 2-0 lead. Sal Stewart knocked one in with a sacrifice fly before a wild pitch by Bender tied the game. It was Bender's second blown save in the last four days, and he barely held on for the save Sunday against the Yankees when he allowed two runs on one hit and three walks. Bender wasn't actually charged with any of the runs Tuesday and still has a 9.00 ERA and 6:5 K:BB across four innings this season.
Sandy Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara Goes 8.1 innings against Cincinnati
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 10:48 PM
Alcantara (2-0) didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Reds, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts across 8.1 innings.
Analysis: Alcantara fired eight shutout innings and had a 2-0 lead going into the top of the ninth. He got TJ Friedl to fly out before Matt McLain doubled and Elly De La Cruz walked, putting the tying run on base. With closer Pete Fairbanks on paternity leave, manager Clayton McCullough brought on Anthony Bender to try and secure the save, but Bender allowed a sacrifice fly, walked Eugenio Suarez and then allowed the tying run to score on a wild pitch. Alcantara missed out on a 3-0 start to the season and will carry a microscopic 0.74 ERA and 18:4 K:BB across 24.1 innings into his next start on the road against the Tigers on Sunday.
Heriberto Hernandez
Heriberto Hernandez Struggling to begin season
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 11:17 AM
Hernandez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's 2-0 loss to the Reds.
Analysis: The 26-year-old outfielder is struggling to find his 2025 form so far in 2026, going just 3-for-27 (.111) through nine games with a triple, two runs, four RBI and a 4:6 BB:K. For now, Hernandez remains a fixture in the Marlins' lineup in left field against left-handed pitching while still getting occasional starts against righties, but his path to consistent playing time will get a lot narrower once Kyle Stowers (hamstring) is healthy.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Sitting against another lefty
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 2:59 PM
Caissie is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: Caissie has maintained an excellent .926 OPS through the Marlins' first nine games, but manager Clayton McCullough isn't yet ready to give the left-handed-hitting outfielder more opportunities against same-handed pitching. The 23-year-old will hit the bench for a third consecutive game while the Marlins face off against another lefty (Brandon Williamson), paving the way for Austin Slater to receive another start in right field.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine On bench against lefty
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 2:56 PM
Conine is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Conine will take a seat for the third game in a row while the Marlins face off against a third straight lefty starter (Brandon Williamson). Heriberto Hernandez will step in for Conine in left field.
Graham Pauley
Graham Pauley Idle against lefty again
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 2:55 PM
Pauley is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: The Marlins are facing off against a third straight left-handed starting pitcher (Brandon Williamson), so the left-handed-hitting Pauley will once again cede third base to Javier Sanoja. Despite being out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, Pauley was able to come up big off the bench, delivering a two-run double in the eighth inning to give the Marlins the lead in their eventual 7-6 win.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Idle against southpaw
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 2:50 PM
Hicks is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: Hicks has gotten off to a sizzling start to the season with a 1.164 OPS over 29 plate appearances, but the Marlins will shield the left-handed batter from southpaw Brandon Williamson in Monday's series opener. At least until the Marlins return the likes of Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (hamstring) from the injured list, Hicks should have a clear path to regular at-bats versus right-handed pitching while making starts at catcher, first base or designated hitter.
Ryan Gusto
Ryan Gusto Added to major-league roster
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 12:50 PM
The Marlins recalled Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Analysis: He'll join the 26-man active roster as a replacement in the bullpen for right-hander Pete Fairbanks, who was placed on the paternity list. Gusto collected a 5.67 ERA over 17 starts and 10 relief appearances in 2025 between the Astros and Marlins. He went five innings in his lone start with Jacksonville this season and will give the Miami bullpen some length.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Goes on paternity leave
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 12:46 PM
The Marlins placed Fairbanks on the paternity leave list Monday.
Analysis: The transaction was anticipated, as Fairbanks was used as an opener in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Yankees so that he could leave the team sooner in order to be with his growing family. Fairbanks will likely rejoin the active roster for Thursday's game against the Reds. Anthony Bender picked up a save Sunday and could get more chances this week while Fairbanks is away. Calvin Faucher and Andrew Nardi are also candidates to see save chances.
Jakob Marsee
Jakob Marsee Crosses plate twice in Sunday's win
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 9:24 AM
Marsee went 0-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Yankees.
Analysis: The center fielder has had a tough start to the season with his bat, slashing just .118/.225/.206 through nine games with zero homers, one steal and a 5:13 BB:K, but he has managed to score five runs. Plate discipline wasn't a big problem for Marsee in his big-league debut last year, as he produced a 20.5 percent strikeout rate against a 9.4 percent walk rate, but as yet he hasn't found his 2025 form.
John King
John King Collects win Sunday
Mon, Apr 6, 2026, 9:20 AM
King (1-0) picked up the win in Sunday's 7-6 victory over the Yankees, retiring the only batter he faced to end the seventh inning.
Analysis: The southpaw took the mound with Miami down 4-3 and New York threatening to add to the deficit with runners on first and third with two outs, but King got Jazz Chisholm to ground out to end the frame. The Marlins' offense then erupted for four runs in the top of the eighth to give King the win. The veteran reliever has had a strong start to the season, posting a 0.00 ERA and 3:1 K:BB through three innings over four appearances.
Chris Paddack
Chris Paddack Better in bulk role
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 7:56 PM
Paddack did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and four walks across 4.2 innings in relief against the Yankees. He struck out four.
Analysis: The Marlins elected to use an opener ahead of Paddack on Sunday after he gave up eight runs in four innings in his season debut against the White Sox. It certainly appeared to be the right decision, as Paddack held the Yankees to a lone unearned run, despite having some trouble with his command. It remains to be seen if the Marlins will utilize Paddack as a traditional starter or in a bulk role in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week in Detroit.
Anthony Bender
Anthony Bender Escapes with first save
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 7:49 PM
Bender picked up the save in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Yankees despite allowing two runs on a hit and three walks. He struck out two.
Analysis: With Pete Fairbanks serving as the opener Sunday, the Marlins turned to Bender in the ninth inning with a three-run lead. After issuing a pair of walks, Bender gave up a two-run double to Jazz Chisholm before ultimately striking out J.C. Escarra to escape with a 7-6 win and his first save this season. After two scoreless appearances to open the year, Bender has given up four runs in just 1.1 innings in his last two outings. The right-hander logged four saves in 2025 while posting a 2.16 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP across 50 innings.
Chris Paddack
Chris Paddack Following opener Sunday
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 12:49 PM
Paddack won't start as scheduled Sunday against the Yankees but is expected to follow opener Pete Fairbanks, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Fairbanks, who is Miami's closer, will instead start Sunday before stepping away from the club for a few days while on the paternity list. Paddack's fantasy outlook shouldn't change much as a result of the switch. He's looking for a bounce-back performance after surrendering eight runs during his season debut.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Serving as opener Sunday
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 12:45 PM
Fairbanks will start Sunday's game against the Yankees before being placed on the paternity list Monday, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Sunday's contest is starting in a rain delay, and Fairbanks will be used as an opener to allow him to leave the team a bit earlier and join his growing family. The right-hander should be back with the Marlins by Thursday's game versus the Reds. Calvin Faucher, Anthony Bender and Andrew Nardi are the top candidates for save chances while Fairbanks is unavailable as closer.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Pair of hits in loss Saturday
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 10:45 PM
Lopez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in Saturday's 9-7 loss to the Yankees.
Analysis: Lopez singled and scored in the first and ninth innings and is now slashing .300/.364/.500 with one home run, two RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base and a 2:7 BB:K across 33 plate appearances to begin the season. Hitting in the middle of the Miami lineup with middle-infield eligibility, Lopez is a valuable fantasy commodity.
Xavier Edwards
Xavier Edwards Trio of hits in loss Saturday
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 10:41 PM
Edwards went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a walk in Saturday's 9-7 loss to the Yankees.
Analysis: Edwards continues to swing a hot bat to begin the season, as he's recorded a hit in all eight games and has multiple hits in five of the last six contests. The speedy infielder is now slashing .467/.500/.633 with one home run, two RBI, nine runs scored, one stolen base and a 2:3 BB:K across 33 plate appearances.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Reaches base four times Saturday
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 10:35 PM
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with an RBI, two walks and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-7 loss to the Yankees.
Analysis: Ramirez walked in the top of the first inning and later scored on a two-run triple by Heriberto Hernandez. Ramirez then singled home Xavier Edwards in the second inning. Ramirez has just one extra-base hit through seven appearances this season and drove in his first run Saturday. He's slashing .273/.448/.318 with seven walks across 29 plate appearances.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Strikes out six in no-decision
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 10:31 PM
Meyer didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts across 4.2 innings.
Analysis: Meyer had a pretty uneventful first four innings but allowed a two-out single to Aaron Judge before Cody Bellinger took Meyer deep for a two-run home run three pitches later. Meyer's night was done after throwing 89 pitches, and he left with a 4-2 lead. Miami's bullpen was unable to keep the Yankees at bay the rest of the way. Through two starts, Meyer owns a 4.66 ERA and 11:5 K:BB across 9.2 innings. His next start is scheduled for Wednesday at home against the Reds.
