Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Sitting against left-hander
Fri, Jul 10, 2026, 2:48 PM
Hicks is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Guardians.
Analysis: Hicks made nine straight starts after coming off the injured list, so he's earned a breather. Joe Mack is catching, Kyle Stowers is at first base and Leo Jimenez will be the Marlins' designated hitter Friday.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 5:56 PM
Caissie was diagnosed with a mild right calf strain Thursday, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Caissie landed on the injured list Thursday after making an early exit from Wednesday's game, and although the severity of his strain is mild, he'll still have to spend more than the 10-day minimum on the IL and aim to rejoin the Marlins at some point in late July or early August. In the meantime, Rece Hinds, Heriberto Hernandez and Esteury Ruiz will be in the mix for starts in the outfield.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Will not start Sunday's game
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 3:04 PM
Meyer will not start Sunday's game against the Guardians as the Marlins give him extra rest around the All-Star break, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Sunday is Meyer's turn, but the Marlins will go with a bullpen game that day. Meyer is healthy, but he's already logged 108 innings and the club wants to be careful with his workload. The righty was elected to the All-Star team but will not pitch in the Midsummer Classic, either. Meyer finishes the first half with a 9-1 record, 2.58 ERA and 116:38 K:BB.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Resting up Thursday
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:55 PM
Sanoja isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Sanoja has hit safely in each of Miami's last four games, but the team will keep him on the bench to begin Thursday's series finale while Leo Jimenez starts at the hot corner, batting ninth.
Joe Mack
Joe Mack Idle Thursday
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:54 PM
Mack isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Seattle.
Analysis: Mack will catch a breather Thursday after going 0-for-6 with a walk during the first two games of the series. Liam Hicks will fill in as Miami's catcher, allowing Heriberto Hernandez to serve as the designated hitter.
John King
John King Sent to IL with sprained ankle
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:48 PM
The Marlins placed King on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left lateral ankle sprain.
Analysis: It's unclear when or how King was hurt, but the injury will cost him at least the next two weeks of action. The lefty reliever has provided quality work out of the Marlins' bullpen, posting a 2.48 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB over 40 innings.
Ryan Gusto
Ryan Gusto Returns to majors
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:47 PM
The Marlins recalled Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Analysis: Gusto has turned in a 5.55 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 24.1 innings with the Marlins this season, but he'll return to Miami on Thursday to provide the big club with an additional long-relief option for its final stretch of games before the All-Star break. Zach Brzykcy was optioned to Jacksonville in a corresponding move.
Rece Hinds
Rece Hinds Officially summoned from minors
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:45 PM
The Marlins recalled Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Analysis: Hinds is a career .172/.221/.426 hitter with a 42 percent strikeout rate over parts of three major-league seasons, but he has loads of power when he does connect. He would be worth a deep-league flier if he plays regularly while Owen Caissie (calf) is out, but there's no guarantee of at-bats for Hinds.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Lands on IL with strained calf
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:42 PM
The Marlins placed Caissie on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right calf strain.
Analysis: Caissie suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest against the Mariners. It's unclear what the severity of the strain is, but even a mild calf strain could result in longer than a minimum absence for Caissie. Rece Hinds is grabbing Caissie's roster spot, and he will be in the mix for starts in the outfield along with Heriberto Hernandez and Esteury Ruiz while Caissie is out.
Zach Brzykcy
Zach Brzykcy Back in minors
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:40 PM
The Marlins optioned Brzykcy to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Analysis: Brzykcy made just one appearance after being called up from Triple-A on June 30, giving up one earned run on one hit and two walks while fanning two batters across two innings. He'll now head back to Jacksonville to help make room on the active roster for Janson Junk (shin), who returned from the injured list Thursday, and Ryan Gusto, who was recalled from Triple-A.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Back from IL to start Thursday
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 1:38 PM
The Marlins activated Junk (shin) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Analysis: Junk will rejoin the Marlins' rotation with a start Thursday against the Mariners after being sidelined since late May with right shin bone inflammation. The right-hander made two rehab starts and threw 61 pitches in his last outing, so he's unlikely to shoulder a full workload versus Seattle.
Rece Hinds
Rece Hinds Coming up from Triple-A
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 10:13 AM
The Marlins will recall Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of Thursday's contest versus the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Hinds is expected to take the roster spot of the injured Owen Caissie (calf). Acquired from the Reds via trade in May, the toolsy Hinds is a career .172/.221/.426 hitter with a 42 percent strikeout rate over parts of three major-league seasons. The 25-year-old could see some playing time in Miami's outfield while Caissie is out, but Heriberto Hernandez and/or Esteury Ruiz are also in the mix.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Likely headed to injured list
Thu, Jul 9, 2026, 10:05 AM
The Marlins are likely to place Caissie (calf) on the 10-day injured list prior to Thursday's game against the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Caissie had to be lifted from Wednesday's contest with right calf tightness. He could be dealing with a strain, but the Marlins will have more specifics on Caissie's status later Thursday. Heriberto Hernandez and Esteury Ruiz will likely see an uptick in playing time while Caissie is shelved, and Rece Hinds is expected to take Caissie's spot on the active roster.
Tyler Phillips
Tyler Phillips Rebounds in second win
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 8:54 PM
Phillips (2-3) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing four hits and two walks across five scoreless innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: It was a strong bounce-back effort from Phillips, who gave up five runs in just 3.1 innings in his last start against the A's. Prior to that outing, Phillips had turned in back-to-back quality starts, allowing just four runs across 13.1 innings in that span. Overall, the 28-year-old right-hander sports a 3.28 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP and 55:34 K:BB across 74 innings this season.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Picks up 13th save
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 8:49 PM
Fairbanks earned the save in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Mariners, allowing a hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: After giving up a one-out single to Josh Naylor, Fairbanks rebounded to strike out the final two batters in the ninth to log his 13th save in 15 chances this season. The 32-year-old Fairbanks has now turned in back-to-back scoreless appearances after giving up seven runs (six earned) over his previous four innings. Overall, Fairbanks sports a 6.75 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB through 28 innings this season.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Pulled early Wednesday
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 6:29 PM
Caissie was removed from Wednesday's game against Seattle due to right calf tightness, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Caissie was taken out of the game in the second inning before recording an at-bat. The severity of his injury remains unknown, though the team could provide some clarity in the near future. In the meantime, Griffin Conine will take over as Miami's right fielder.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Idle Wednesday
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 4:14 PM
Conine isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Conine will get a breather Wednesday after going 1-for-16 with nine strikeouts to begin the month of July. His absence will allow Heriberto Hernandez to bat sixth while picking up a start in left field.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Rejoining rotation Thursday
Wed, Jul 8, 2026, 3:01 PM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough confirmed Wednesday that Junk (shin) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's game versus the Mariners, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Junk has been sidelined since late May with right shin bone inflammation, but he convinced the Marlins he was ready to go by yielding two runs with a 6:0 K:BB over 5.2 innings in two rehab starts with Triple-A Jacksonville. The right-hander threw 61 pitches in his last rehab outing, so Junk will be fairly limited from a workload perspective against Seattle.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer No-decision against Seattle
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 9:32 PM
Meyer did not factor into Tuesday's decision against the Mariners, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four across five innings.
Analysis: Meyer opened his start nicely by striking out three of the first four batters he faced. He faced the minimum number of batters through four innings before giving up two runs in the fifth, but his stat line could have looked far worse after loading the bases with no outs in the sixth. Luckily for Meyer, his night ended at two earned runs after Michael Petersen came in and got the Marlins out of the bases-loaded jam. Meyer has given up two earned runs or less in seven consecutive starts, going 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB in 41.1 innings over that span. He's slated to start this weekend at home against the Guardians in what figures to be Meyer's last turn in the rotation before the All-Star break.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Goes deep against Seattle
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 9:27 PM
Caissie went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk during Miami's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle on Tuesday.
Analysis: Caissie opened Tuesday's scoring with a 418-foot solo home run to right-center field off Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. It was the 12th home run of the season for Caissie, who has gone deep in three of his last six games. He has a .239 batting average over 246 plate appearances this season, but Caissie has been better at the plate as of late, going 12-for-38 (.316) with one steal, four homers and 11 RBI over his last 15 games.
