Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Smashes second homer
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 10:36 PM
Hicks went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Monday's 9-4 loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: Hicks cracked his second homer of the campaign Monday. Most of the 26-year-old backstop's action in 2026 is likely to come at either catcher, designated hitter or first base, as Agustin Ramirez is locked in as Miami's top catcher, and Hicks is making an early case for the Marlins to find ways to get his bat into the lineup.
Chris Paddack
Chris Paddack Thrashed for eight runs in loss
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 10:19 PM
Paddack (0-1) took the loss Monday against the White Sox, allowing eight runs on eight hits and no walks in four innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Despite getting what appeared to be a soft matchup versus the lowly White Sox, Paddack completely came apart following two scoreless frames to begin his outing. Chicago plated four runs in each of the subsequent innings, though Paddack was at least able to fan six and register 15 whiffs to provide something of a silver lining Monday. Paddack's next start is lined up to come in New York against the Yankees, and he won't be a recommended streaming option for that one.
Deyvison De Los Santos
Deyvison De Los Santos Headed back to minors
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 12:54 PM
The Marlins optioned De Los Santos to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Analysis: It was a two-day stint in the big leagues for De Los Santos, who is clearing out to make room on the roster for Leo Jimenez, who was acquired via trade from the Blue Jays on Sunday. With De Los Santos now back at Jacksonville, Connor Norby should operate as the Marlins' primary first baseman while Christopher Morel (oblique) is shelved.
Deyvison De Los Santos
Deyvison De Los Santos Bangs out double in season debut
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 11:37 AM
De Los Santos went 1-for-2 with a double in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: The 22-year-old got the start at first base and hit eighth in the order against southpaw Jose Quintana, and he took advantage of the matchup with a two-bagger in his first big-league at-bat of the year. De Los Santos was called up when Christopher Morel (oblique) landed on the IL, but the Marlins have plenty of other options to handle first base, including left-handed hitters Griffin Conine and Liam Hicks as well as the righty-swinging Connor Norby. De Los Santos may be stuck in a short-side platoon role unless he slugs his way into more playing time, something that's not out of the question -- over 156 career games for Triple-A Jacksonville he's launched 24 homers, including one in the Jumbo Shrimp's season opener Friday.
Xavier Edwards
Xavier Edwards Swipes first bag of year
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 11:30 AM
Edwards went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: It was the first steal of 2026 for the switch-hitting second baseman. Edwards is hitting lower in the order against left-handed pitching to begin the year, which could cost him occasional opportunities to take an extra base, but he's generated plenty on his own by going 4-for-11 through three games with three runs scored and a 0:1 BB:K.
Garrett Acton
Garrett Acton Dropped from 40-man roster
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:37 PM
Acton was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Acton is the odd man out on Miami's 40-man roster after the team acquired infielder Leo Jimenez from the Blue Jays on Sunday. Acton has tossed 2.1 scoreless frames, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four batters in two appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville so far this season. The 27-year-old was claimed off waivers by Miami after the Rockies let him go in late January, and he will now be available to be claimed by the rest of the league once again.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Comes away with no-decision
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 4:06 PM
Meyer did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Rockies. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across five frames.
Analysis: Meyer found himself on the back foot right out of the gate after yielding a bases-clearing, three-run double to Jordan Beck in the first inning. Meyer was able to settle in after that and kept the Rockies off the board over the next four frames, and he escaped with the no-decision after Owen Caissie smacked a walk-off, two-run homer in the ninth. Meyer delivered strong performances during spring training, and it was encouraging to see him bounce back after a rough start to Sunday's game. His next turn in the rotation is slated for next weekend on the road against the Yankees.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Walks off Colorado
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 3:40 PM
Caissie went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in the Marlins' 4-3 win over the Rockies on Sunday.
Analysis: The lefty-hitting Caissie opened Sunday's game on the bench due to the Rockies sending southpaw Jose Quintana to the mound. Caissie entered the game in the eighth inning but had another at-bat in the ninth, and he sent the Marlins fans home happy after his walk-off, two-run homer to right-center field. Through his first three games with Miami, Caissie has gone 5-for-10 with two doubles, one steal and four RBI.
Graham Pauley
Graham Pauley Sitting against lefty
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 12:10 PM
Pauley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Pauley has hit the bench for two of the Marlins' first three games, with both of his absences coming against southpaws. Heading into Opening Day, Pauley looked like he could be headed for a timeshare at third base with Connor Norby, but the Marlins should have starting roles against right-handed pitching available at the the corner-infield spots for both players while Christopher Morel (oblique) is on the shelf.
Liam Hicks
Liam Hicks Idle against lefty
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 12:06 PM
Hicks is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: The left-handed Hicks was included in the lineup Saturday in the lone game of the series with Colorado against a righty starter (Michael Lorenzen), but he's been on the bench for matchups with southpaws Kyle Freeland and Jose Quintana. Hicks should have a fairly clear path to playing time versus righties while Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (oblique) are on the injured list, but at-bats could be more difficult to come by once the Marlins get healthier.
Griffin Conine
Griffin Conine Sitting versus lefty
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 12:03 PM
Conine is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: Conine went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's contest, but he'll hit the bench Sunday with southpaw Jose Quintana taking the mound for Colorado. Connor Norby will instead serve as the designated hitter, opening up third base for Javier Sanoja.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Hitting bench against southpaw
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 11:58 AM
Caissie is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Analysis: The 23-year-old started the first two games of the season and has been productive, going 4-for-8 with two doubles, a stolen base, two RBI and a run scored, but he'll take a seat Sunday with lefty Jose Quintana pitching for Colorado. It remains to be seen if Caissie operates in a strict platoon given that he started against a left-hander Opening Day, but it'll be Austin Slater that starts in right field for the series finale.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Unavailable Sunday
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 11:50 AM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough announced that Fairbanks won't be available Sunday against the Rockies after pitching the past two days, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Analysis: The club's new closer, who signed a one-year, $13 million contract in late December, fired two scoreless frames and picked up two saves in Miami's first two games of the season. Fairbanks won't be available Sunday after pitching back-to-back days, which is hardly a surprise this early in the campaign. Calvin Faucher, Anthony Bender and Andrew Nardi should be in the mix to fill in as the Marlins' closer should a save situation arise Sunday.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Swipes bag in win
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 9:17 PM
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies.
Analysis: Ramirez reached base in three straight plate appearances after grounding out in the first inning, picking up his first steal of the season in the third. The sophomore catcher served as the designated hitter Saturday, suggesting he should see near-everyday run moving forward. After tallying 21 home runs and 16 stolen bases across 136 games as a rookie, the 24-year-old offers 20-20 potential at the catcher position in 2026.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Notches second save
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 8:58 PM
Fairbanks earned the save in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Analysis: Fairbanks was called on to protect a one-run lead in the ninth and needed just nine pitches to do so. He could be unavailable after notching saves on back-to-back nights, but the 32-year-old appears to have a firm grip on the closer's role following a strong start with his new club.
Eury Perez
Eury Perez Goes seven strong in season debut
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 8:45 PM
Perez did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rockies, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over seven innings.
Analysis: Perez surrendered two home runs but was otherwise effective, throwing 59 of 93 pitches for strikes and generating 17 whiffs. According to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, it marked just the third time in 40 outings that the 22-year-old reached the seventh frame. The breakout candidate posted a 4.25 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 105:32 K:BB across 95.1 innings last season and flashed his upside Saturday. He'll face a tougher test on the road against the Yankees next weekend.
Christopher Morel
Christopher Morel Placed on injured list
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 11:05 AM
The Marlins placed Morel on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left oblique strain, retroactive to Wednesday.
Analysis: Morel was in line to begin the regular season as Miami's primary first baseman, but an oblique issue caused him to be a late scratch from Friday's lineup, and manager Clayton McCullough said Saturday that Morel's injury will force him to miss roughly 4-to-6 weeks, per Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com. Deyvison De Los Santos was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move and figures to be in the mix at first base with Connor Norby until Morel returns.
Andrew Nardi
Andrew Nardi Nabs hold Friday
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 11:02 AM
Nardi gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless two-thirds of an inning to record his first hold of the season in Friday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: Entering the game to begin the eighth inning and tasked with protecting a 2-1 lead, Nardi gave up a single to Kyle Karros but fanned Braxton Fulford and Ryan Ritter before ceding the mound to Anthony Bender. It was Nardi's first big-league game action since August 2024, as back trouble cost him all of 2025, but it looks like the 27-year-old will be the top left-handed setup option in the Marlins' bullpen to kick off the current campaign.
Deyvison De Los Santos
Deyvison De Los Santos Officially promoted
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 11:01 AM
The Marlins recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Analysis: With Christopher Morel (oblique) headed for the IL, De Los Santos will come up from the minors for his MLB debut and could take over as Miami's primary first baseman, though the Marlins may also continue to start Connor Norby at first. The 22-year-old De Los Santos slashed .240/.309/.356 with 11 homers, 52 RBI and 53 runs scored with Jacksonville last year but started 2026 on the right track, going 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in the Triple-A opener.
Javier Sanoja
Javier Sanoja Three hits in Friday's start
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 10:58 AM
Sanoja went 3-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: Getting the start at third base and batting ninth, Sanoja consistently flipped the lineup over in a 2-1 victory. The 23-year-old utility player was in the lineup against a left-hander in Kyle Freeland, and he could work as a platoon partner for Graham Pauley at the hot corner in the short term while Connor Norby covers for Christopher Morel (oblique) at first base. Pauley missed most of training camp due to a forearm strain, but he was able to enter Friday's game as a late-inning defensive replacement, bumping Sanoja out to left field.
