Esteury Ruiz
Esteury Ruiz Productive night at plate in win
Fri, May 22, 2026, 9:37 PM
Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, one stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 2-1 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Ruiz doubled in the bottom of the second inning and manufactured the Marlins' first run of the game by stealing third base before scoring on a groundout. It was Ruiz's eighth stolen base of the season. He then tripled and scored in the fourth, accounting for both of Miami's runs in the low-scoring affair. The speedy outfielder is hitting just .216 with a .231 on-base percentage but has a team-high .514 slugging percentage in 39 trips to the plate this season. He has three doubles, one triple and two homers to go with five RBI, 10 runs scored and the eight steals.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Secures save Friday
Fri, May 22, 2026, 9:31 PM
Fairbanks picked up the save in Friday's 2-1 win over the Mets, issuing one walk with two strikeouts in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: It's been a rough start to the season for Miami's closer, as he entered Friday having allowed at least one run in three straight outings and at least three runs in three of nine appearances since the beginning of April. Fairbanks struck out the first two batters he faced Friday and closed it with a flyout from Bo Bichette. It was Fairbanks' sixth save of the season to go with an 8.25 ERA and 19:6 K:BB across 12 innings.
Eury Perez
Eury Perez Snaps losing streak with win Friday
Fri, May 22, 2026, 9:25 PM
Perez (3-6) earned the win Friday against the Mets, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with five strikeouts across 6.1 innings.
Analysis: Perez's lone blemish was a first-inning solo homer allowed to Juan Soto. The right-hander faced the minimum the rest of the way before being pulled with one out in the seventh. It was the first time Perez recorded more than 18 outs in a start since Opening Day, and it was just his third quality start of the season. Perez has undeniably electric stuff, but he's been hurt by walks and homers this season, and he came into Friday having lost five straight starts. Friday was his first start of 2026 without issuing a free pass. With the strong outing, Perez lowered his ERA to 4.91 with a 63:28 K:BB across 58.2 innings this season. The 23-year-old will look to build on the performance with a road date in Toronto next week.
Robby Snelling
Robby Snelling Undergoes internal brace surgery
Fri, May 22, 2026, 3:20 PM
Snelling underwent internal brace surgery Friday to repair a torn UCL in his left elbow.
Analysis: The Marlins had indicated previously that Snelling would require Tommy John surgery, so it's a pleasant surprise that he needed an internal brace procedure instead. The operation Snelling had comes with a timetable of 10-to-12 months, which gives him a good chance to be a contributor for Miami at some point next season.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Rare day off Friday
Fri, May 22, 2026, 2:19 PM
Lopez is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Mets.
Analysis: It's a rare day off for Lopez, who had started the last 14 contests for the Marlins. Javier Sanoja is grabbing a start at shortstop in Lopez's stead.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Slugs fourth homer
Fri, May 22, 2026, 9:51 AM
Caissie went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: The 23-year-old rookie took Spencer Strider deep in the third inning to get the Marlins on the board. Caissie has homered twice in his last eight games, but those are his only extra-base hits since April 24 and he hasn't produced a multi-hit performance since April 9. Simply making contact has been the biggest issue for Caissie in his first campaign with the Marlins -- through 43 contests this season he's slashing .210/.269/.361 with four home runs, three steals, 15 runs, 20 RBI and a troubling 41.0 percent strikeout rate.
Kyle Stowers
Kyle Stowers Sixth career multi-homer effort
Thu, May 21, 2026, 10:04 PM
Stowers went 2-for-4 with a two solo home runs in Thursday's 9-3 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Stowers registered the sixth multi-homer game of his career Thursday and his first of the year, accomplishing this feat five times in 2025. After breaking out with a career-high .912 OPS over 399 regular-season at-bats a year ago, the 28-year-old slugger is stumbling out of the gates in 2026 following a stay on the injured list to begin the campaign. Stowers is hitting a weak .228 with three big flies, five doubles, eight RBI and one stolen base across 101 at-bats, but he does have 13 walks already.
Sandy Alcantara
Sandy Alcantara Shelled for six runs in loss
Thu, May 21, 2026, 9:37 PM
Alcantara (3-3) took the loss Thursday against Atlanta, allowing six runs on nine hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: The Atlanta bats peppered Alcantara with runs Thursday, as the hurler tossed just two scoreless innings on the evening. Although the right-hander has been a workhorse for the Marlins this year, working at least six innings in nine of his 11 starts, he's now already up three outings with at least six runs allowed. Alcantara will be seeking some consistency his next time out in Toronto, where he'll bring a 4.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 48:20 K:BB across 69.2 frames.
Tyler Phillips
Tyler Phillips Option to start Sunday
Thu, May 21, 2026, 3:37 PM
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough indicated Thursday that Phillips is under consideration to start Sunday's game against the Mets, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Phillips has been a full-time reliever the last two seasons with the Marlins, but almost all of his experience prior to that both at the major- and minor-league level has been as a starting pitcher. He's also exceeded 40 pitches in each of his last two relief outings, so Phillips is relatively stretched out. If the Marlins do go with Phillips on Sunday, he likely wouldn't be able to go longer than four innings.
Robby Snelling
Robby Snelling Will undergo Tommy John surgery
Thu, May 21, 2026, 2:40 PM
Snelling will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair his left elbow UCL, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: It's not a surprising development after Snelling was diagnosed with a sprained UCL last week and moved from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL earlier Thursday. With it being a full Tommy John repair rather than an internal brace procedure, Snelling will likely be out until at least the second half of the 2027 season, and he might not be seen in the big leagues until 2028.
Connor Norby
Connor Norby Idle Thursday
Thu, May 21, 2026, 2:05 PM
Norby isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: Norby will grab a seat on the bench to begin Thursday's finale after going 1-for-10 with three walks, two runs and a steal over the first three games. Javier Sanoja will pick up a start at third base as a result and bat ninth.
Robby Snelling
Robby Snelling Moves to 60-day IL
Thu, May 21, 2026, 1:01 PM
The Marlins transferred Snelling (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Analysis: Snelling is set to meet with Dr. Keith Meister on Thursday to determine whether surgery is necessary to repair the sprained UCL in his left elbow. The young southpaw is facing an extended absence regardless of whether he needs to go under the knife, so the Marlins will stash him away on the 60-day IL. The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Rece Hinds, who was acquired in a trade with the Reds on Thursday.
Leo Jimenez
Leo Jimenez Heading to injured list
Thu, May 21, 2026, 12:37 PM
The Marlins placed Jimenez on the 7-day injured list Thursday with concussion symptoms.
Analysis: The 25-year-old was taken out of Tuesday's game after a collision with Ronald Acuna resulted in Jimenez being kneed in the head/neck area. Jimenez will now enter the concussion protocol and be sidelined for at least the next week. Miami is recalling Graham Pauley in response to Jimenez being placed on the IL.
Graham Pauley
Graham Pauley Recalled from Triple-A
Thu, May 21, 2026, 12:35 PM
The Marlins recalled Pauley from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Since being demoted to Triple-A two weeks ago, Pauley has gone 8-for-36 with three homers, six RBI, six runs scored and a steal over nine games. He'll now return to Miami to replace the injured Leo Jimenez (neck) as infield depth for the Marlins.
Rece Hinds
Rece Hinds Traded to Marlins
Thu, May 21, 2026, 12:24 PM
The Marlins acquired Hinds from the Reds on Thursday in exchange for Zach McCambley, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: Hinds had been designated for assignment by Cincinnati and will now get a fresh start in a new organization. The 25-year-old has huge raw power and has slashed .306/.423/.635 with seven home runs in 23 games this season at Triple-A Louisville. The downside with Hinds is that he has major contact issues, having posted a 42.0 percent strikeout rate thus far at the big-league level. Hinds will likely report to Triple-A Jacksonville initially.
Janson Junk
Janson Junk Roughed up for eight runs
Wed, May 20, 2026, 9:44 PM
Junk (2-5) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing eight runs on eight hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: Junk poured in 62 of his 88 pitches for strikes Wednesday, but he might have been too aggressive in pounding the zone. The 30-year-old right-hander was tagged for a season-worst eight runs, and he's now served up six home runs over four starts in the month of May after giving up only a pair of homers in his previous six outings. Junk will be trying to keep the ball in the park during his next scheduled appearance in Toronto, where he'll bring a 5.07 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB over 55 innings.
Lands on 7-day IL
Wed, May 20, 2026, 9:08 PM
White (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Analysis: White was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday with the Jumbo Shrimp, and although it initially seemed like an indication that he was on his way to the big leagues, he'll instead spend at least a week on the IL due to an unspecified injury. The 21-year-old top prospect has a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through five starts at Jacksonville this season, and although he isn't ready for his MLB debut just yet, there's still a chance he gets called up later in the year.
Leo Jimenez
Leo Jimenez Exits with injury
Wed, May 20, 2026, 7:26 PM
Jimenez was removed from Wednesday's game against Atlanta with an apparent injury, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports.
Analysis: Jimenez took a knee to the head/neck area from Ronald Acuna while the latter was sliding into third base during the sixth inning. Jimenez initially remained in the game but was removed later in the inning while the Marlins made a pitching change. He will presumably be evaluated for a concussion, and the team should provide an update on his status in the near future.
Not joining big club
Wed, May 20, 2026, 6:10 PM
White isn't expected to make his MLB debut anytime soon, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Analysis: With Braxton Garrett being sent down to Triple-A and White getting scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday, it seemed like the Marlins were preparing to promote White to fill the open spot in their rotation. However, the team will instead keep the young lefty in the minors to continue developing after opening the Triple-A season with a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through 18.2 innings.
Owen Caissie
Owen Caissie Hitting bench against lefty
Wed, May 20, 2026, 2:51 PM
Caissie is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: Miami will keep the left-handed-hitting Caissie on the bench for the second straight night while Atlanta goes with another lefty starting pitcher (Chris Sale). Javier Sanoja will step in for Caissie as Miami's starting right fielder.
