Kris Bubic
Kris Bubic Knocked around in rehab start
Wed, Jun 10, 2026, 8:07 AM
Bubic (elbow) yielded six runs (five earned) on eight hits and one walk over 1.1 innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
Analysis: Coming back from left elbow soreness and general arm fatigue, Bubic was sporting his typical velocity in his first outing in nearly a month. Not much else went right, however, as he needed 49 pitches to record four outs. The left-hander will need at least one additional rehab start before rejoining the Royals' rotation, and he will hope to be sharper in that outing.
Jac Caglianone
Jac Caglianone Powers offense to victory
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 10:09 PM
Caglianone went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a walk and three total RBI in a 5-3 win against Texas on Tuesday.
Analysis: The Rangers were unable to retire Caglianone in the contest, as he reached base in all four of his plate appearances. The 23-year-old's two long balls combined to travel a whopping 852 feet, and the two-homer game was his second as a big-leaguer. Caglianone has begun June on a roll, batting .476 (10-for-21) with two homers, seven RBI, a stolen base and a 5:5 BB:K through seven games. With eight homers in 61 contests on the campaign, he's surpassed the seven home runs he slugged across 62 games as a rookie last year.
Alex Lange
Alex Lange Strengthens grasp on closer role
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 9:57 PM
Lange earned a save against the Rangers on Tuesday, walking one batter and striking out two over one scoreless inning.
Analysis: Lange was called upon to close things out with Kansas City up by two runs in the ninth inning. The right-hander threw just 10 of 19 pitches for strikes, hurled a wild pitch and walked a batter, but he also struck out the final two batters he faced and got out of the frame without allowing any runs. Lange now has four of the Royals' past five saves and is clearly the team's preferred ninth-inning option. He's earned that role by registering nine consecutive scoreless outings. Since April 22, Lange has a 1.77 ERA and 17:10 K:BB over 20.1 innings spanning 20 appearances.
Stephen Kolek
Stephen Kolek Dodges traffic in no-decision
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 9:52 PM
Kolek allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings in a no-decision against Texas on Tuesday.
Analysis: Kolek failed to record a 1-2-3 inning, and the Rangers put at least two batters on base in three of his five frames. However, the right-hander escaped with just one earned run on his ledger despite needing 88 pitches to retire 15 hitters. Kolek has now yielded two earned runs or fewer in four of his seven starts, leading to a strong 3.14 ERA. He's lined up to face Houston at home in his next start.
Kyle Isbel
Kyle Isbel Removed with foot injury
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 9:16 PM
Isbel was removed from Tuesday's game against the Rangers due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
Analysis: Isbel had gone 1-for-2 with a walk before his foot forced him out of the game in the seventh inning. His injury could require him to spend time on the injured list, though the club hasn't confirmed anything just yet. Lane Thomas and Tyler Tolbert would be next in line to pick up starts in center field during any games Isbel has to miss.
Cole Ragans
Cole Ragans Bullpen session on tap
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 4:47 PM
Ragans (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Wednesday will mark the first time that Ragans has thrown off a mound since he suffered a setback in late May during his rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha. He remains without a clear return timeline, but that may change after a few sessions of mound work.
Jac Caglianone
Jac Caglianone Ready to go Tuesday
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 3:38 PM
Caglianone (shoulder) is back in the lineup for the series opener against the Rangers on Tuesday.
Analysis: Caglianone was removed from Saturday's game against Minnesota with right shoulder soreness, and he missed Sunday's series finale. On the season, the 23-year-old has slashed .250/.326/.403 with six homers and 15 RBI in 218 plate appearances. Caglianone will play right field and bat sixth Tuesday.
Salvador Perez
Salvador Perez Good to go Tuesday
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 3:35 PM
Perez (thumb) is back in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Texas.
Analysis: After missing the last two matchups due to a thumb injury, Perez is back and ready to go on Tuesday. The 36-year-old has had a down season to say the least, as he is currently slashing just .204/.254/.345 with nine homers and 26 RBI in 256 plate appearances. Perez will bat fifth and act as the designated hitter in Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
Bobby Witt Jr.
Bobby Witt Jr. Back in lineup Tuesday
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 3:31 PM
Witt (knee) is back in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: After exiting Sunday's game early with right knee soreness, Witt is good to go for Tuesday's matchup against righty Nathan Eovaldi. Before going down on Sunday, the 25-year-old had recorded five hits and three walks in his past four games. Witt will play shortstop and bat second for the Royals.
Josh Rojas
Josh Rojas Optioned back to Triple-A
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 3:17 PM
The Royals optioned Rojas to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
Analysis: Rojas made one start in his handful of days with the big club, collecting one hit in five plate appearances. He's being scrubbed from the active roster in order to make room for Stephen Kolek (personal), who will start Tuesday's game versus the Rangers.
Stephen Kolek
Stephen Kolek Reinstated ahead of Tuesday's start
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 3:14 PM
The Royals activated Kolek from the family medical emergency list Tuesday.
Analysis: Kolek was away from the club for a few days while tending to a personal matter, but he's back in time to start Tuesday's contest at home versus the Rangers. The right-hander has logged a 3.32 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB over 38 innings covering six starts for Kansas City this season.
Stephen Kolek
Stephen Kolek Rejoining rotation Tuesday
Tue, Jun 9, 2026, 10:36 AM
Kolek (personal) is listed as the Royals' probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Rangers in Kansas City.
Analysis: Kansas City placed Kolek on the family medical emergency leave list Thursday, but the right-hander looks set to rejoin the Royals for the start of their series with the Rangers and won't have to miss a turn through the rotation. The Royals will make his activation official shortly before Tuesday's 7:40 p.m. ET start time.
Kris Bubic
Kris Bubic Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday
Mon, Jun 8, 2026, 10:54 AM
The Royals announced Monday that Bubic (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.
Analysis: Bubic hasn't pitched since May 14 due to left elbow soreness and general arm fatigue, but he's been throwing for the past couple weeks and is ready to pitch in a game situation. Prior to landing on the 15-day injured list, Bubic recorded a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 51:26 K:BB across 50.1 innings. As long as he continues to improve, Bubic should rejoin the Royals' rotation within the next couple weeks.
Starling Marte
Starling Marte Pops first homer in win
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 6:42 PM
Marte went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Twins.
Analysis: Drawing the start at designated hitter versus southpaw Connor Prielipp, Marte lifted his first homer of the campaign Sunday. The left-handed-hitting Carter Jensen should continue to serve as Kansas City's primary DH, but Marte could see an uptick in at-bats in right field until Jac Caglianone (shoulder) returns to action. Even so, Marte is slashing a pedestrian .258/.315/.348 with four extra-base hits, five RBI, five runs scored and no stolen bases over 73 plate appearances.
Lucas Erceg
Lucas Erceg Survives for 12th save
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 6:34 PM
Erceg secured the save Sunday against the Twins, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Analysis: The Royals first turned to Beck Way to close out a 6-1 game in the ninth inning, but the hurler ended up giving up four runs to create a save opportunity. Erceg did surrender a pair of singles Sunday, though he eventually got Brooks Lee to fly out and extinguish the fire. Erceg, who has fallen into a closer committee with Kansas City due to his MLB-worst six blown saves, has a 6.00 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB with 12 saves across 24 frames.
Noah Cameron
Noah Cameron Resurgence continues in third win
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 6:16 PM
Cameron (3-4) notched the win Sunday against the Twins, allowing one unearned run on three hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: Cameron had posted a 5.55 ERA over his first seven starts of the year, but he's been a much different pitcher as of late. The 26-year-old southpaw has logged four quality starts across his previous five outings, during which he boasts a sparkling 1.80 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 31:3 K:BB covering 30 innings. Cameron, who now has an improved 3.84 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 63:17 K:BB over 65.2 frames overall, will hope to keep the good times rolling at home versus the Astros his next time out.
Bobby Witt Jr.
Bobby Witt Jr. Dealing with right knee injury
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 3:39 PM
Witt was removed from Sunday's game against Minnesota due to right knee soreness.
Analysis: It's unclear when the injury cropped up, but Witt was taken out of the game in the seventh inning and was replaced by Michael Massey. Witt went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts prior to his exit, and he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury. The Royals have an off-day Monday, so the 25-year-old shortstop will aim to be available for Tuesday's home game against the Rangers.
Bobby Witt Jr.
Bobby Witt Jr. Exits Sunday's game
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 3:30 PM
Witt (undisclosed) was removed from Sunday's game against the Twins, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Analysis: Witt was removed from the game in the seventh inning with the Royals holding a 5-1 lead. It's not clear why he was pulled, but the Royals should have an update on the superstar shortstop during or shortly after Sunday's game. Michael Massey is in the game at second base, with Maikel Garcia and Nick Loftin shifting to shortstop and third base, respectively.
Salvador Perez
Salvador Perez Nursing thumb injury
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 11:41 AM
Perez is not in Sunday's lineup against the Twins due to a right thumb injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Perez sustained the injury on a wild pitch that hit him in the thumb Friday. He'll end up sitting for the last two games of the series against Minnesota, but with an offday Monday, the veteran backstop could be back in action for Tuesday's series opener against Texas. Carter Jensen will start at catcher Sunday.
Salvador Perez
Salvador Perez Getting another rest day
Sun, Jun 7, 2026, 11:11 AM
Perez is not in Kansas City's starting lineup against Minnesota on Sunday.
Analysis: Perez will be on the bench for a second consecutive game. Carter Jensen will handle catching duties while Starling Marte serves as the Royals' designated hitter for Sunday's series finale.
