Kameron Misner
Kameron Misner Getting regular run in center
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 1:29 PM
Misner will start in center field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Misner will draw a fourth straight start after going 4-for-9 with a walk and three RBI over the prior three contests. The 28-year-old looks poised to handle an everyday role in center field for Kansas City while Kyle Isbel (foot) is on the shelf.
Lane Thomas
Lane Thomas Goes yard in loss
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 12:10 PM
Thomas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Thomas jumped on a center-cut sinker from Mike Burrows in the fourth inning, blasting a 432-foot homer into the fountains at Kauffman Stadium for his third long ball of the season. The veteran outfielder has been productive when called upon in June, going 9-for-30 (.300) with two homers, six RBI, six runs and five walks across 11 appearances. With Vinnie Pasquantino (hand) expected to miss significant time, Thomas could see additional opportunities in right field with Jac Caglianone shifting to first base.
Carter Jensen
Carter Jensen Drives in three runs Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 11:57 AM
Jensen went 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Jensen doubled up on doubles, with his second two-bagger of the night coming with the bases loaded and clearing the bases in the sixth inning. The catcher is in the midst of a modest six-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 7-for-24 (.292) with a homer, four doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored. On the year, the 22-year-old is slashing .220/.289/.393 with eight homers, 13 doubles, 35 RBI and 29 runs across 242 plate appearances.
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Looking at 4-to-6-week recovery
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 11:36 AM
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that Pasquantino underwent surgery Sunday to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand and will face a recovery timeline of roughly 4-to-6 weeks, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Analysis: The projected timeline is a fairly standard one for hamate surgeries and likely indicates that the Royals plan on holding Pasquantino out through the All-Star break in mid-July. Jac Caglianone is slated to start at first base in Sunday's game against the Astros and should see the bulk of the playing time at the position for the duration of Pasquantino's stint on the 10-day injured list.
John Rave
John Rave Joins big club
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:28 AM
The Royals recalled Rave from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Analysis: Rave failed to make Kansas City's Opening Day roster and has enjoyed a strong start to the season at Omaha, posting a .278/.395/.475 slash lien with 10 homers and 16 steals in 60 games. The 28-year-old will now join the Royals as outfield depth, taking the roster spot of Vinnie Pasquantino (hand).
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Out with hamate fracture
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 9:47 AM
The Royals placed Pasquantino (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right hamate fracture.
Analysis: The 28-year-old sustained the injury during Saturday's contest and now seems likely to be sidelined at least through the All-Star break, though he's currently without an official timeline for his return. Jac Caglianone replaced Pasquantino at first base Saturday and is also starting there Sunday, while John Rave was called up from Triple-A Omaha to bolster Kansas City's bench.
Noah Cameron
Noah Cameron Can't escape fifth inning Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 7:23 AM
Cameron didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Astros. He allowed four runs on seven hits, including two home runs, while striking out one across 4.1 innings.
Analysis: Cameron wasn't at his best Saturday and saw the end of a four-start streak in which he'd given up two or fewer earned runs. This was also the first time Cameron gave up multiple homers in a game since April 18, when he allowed two long balls against the Yankees. Cameron has a 4.11 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 13 starts and 70 innings this season, but his 3.49 FIP suggests he's been pitching better than what his ERA indicates. He's slated to make his next start at home against the Cardinals.
Alex Lange
Alex Lange Tagged with loss Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 7:19 AM
Lange (0-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Astros after allowing a run on one hit and a walk across 1.2 innings. He struck out one.
Analysis: Lange entered the game at the top of the eighth inning and retired Jake Meyers and Brice Matthews to keep the game tied. However, he couldn't do it in the ninth and allowed the game-winning run when Joey Loperfido crossed home plate on an RBI groundout from Christian Walker. Lange enjoyed a run of nine straight appearances without allowing a run between May 20 and June 9, but he's given up three over his last two outings (2.2 innings). He owns a 4.13 ERA and 1.44 WHIP so far this season across 32.2 frames.
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Suffers hamate injury Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 8:28 PM
The Royals announced that Pasquantino sustained a right hamate injury in Saturday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: It's not good news for the Kansas City first baseman, who could be looking at an extended absence if he's dealing with a fracture. Pasquantino was removed from the contest after popping out in the bottom of the fifth inning. Over his previous 14 games, Pasquantino had slashed .309/.397/.436 with four doubles, one homer and eight RBI, so it's certainly bad timing, as he'd just been starting to heat up at the plate after an extremely slow start to the season.
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Leaves game early
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 7:54 PM
Pasquantino left Saturday's game against Houston early due to pain in his hand, reports Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City.
Analysis: Pasquantino was removed from Saturday's game after popping out in the bottom of the fifth inning and experiencing pain in his hand. Pasquantino was replaced by Isaac Collins who will take over and play left field while Jac Caglianone will move to first base.
Cole Ragans
Cole Ragans Has setback, slated for testing
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 4:47 PM
Ragans (elbow) had a throwing session cut short Friday and will undergo additional testing, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: According to manager Matt Quatraro, Ragans "woke up yesterday [Friday], not feeling as well arm-wise." The southpaw still attempted to throw, but he had to cut the session short. As a result, Kansas City has elected to have Ragans sent in for more testing, which will take place "in the next couple of days." Ragans had progressed to throwing bullpen sessions in his attempt to return from a left elbow impingement, but the setback may push back his timeline to rejoin Kansas City's rotation.
Isaac Collins
Isaac Collins Not starting Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 3:28 PM
Collins is out of the starting lineup Saturday versus Houston.
Analysis: Collins will get his first day off since June 2 after batting .222 with only one extra-base hit and a 6:6 BB:K over his past nine contests. Lane Thomas is starting in left field in Collins' place Saturday.
Kris Bubic
Kris Bubic Suffers setback after rehab start
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 12:27 PM
Bubic (elbow/shoulder) suffered a setback after beginning his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Omaha, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: In his first rehab start while recovering from left elbow soreness, Bubic was knocked around for five earned runs across 1.1 innings Tuesday and apparently emerged from the outing with a shoulder issue. The southpaw is scheduled to see a doctor over the weekend to determine the next steps. Prior to landing on the injured list in mid-May, Bubic posted a 3-2 record with a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 51:26 K:BB across 50.1 innings (nine starts).
Carlos Estevez
Carlos Estevez Ramping up throwing intensity
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 12:15 PM
Estevez (shoulder) increased his intensity and volume in a flat-ground throwing session Friday, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Estevez is slowly progressing in his recovery from a right rotator cuff strain suffered during a rehab assignment May 6 while working back from a left foot contusion. After resuming throwing May 27, the right-hander is increasing the intensity of his work, which is an encouraging sign. A formal timeline for the next steps in the veteran's progression and his return to Kansas City remains unclear, though bullpen sessions and facing live hitters would likely be among the next milestones. Lucas Erceg initially took over as the Royals' primary closer in Estevez's absence but has struggled mightily, opening the door for Alex Lange, who has converted four saves in June.
Cole Ragans
Cole Ragans Logs second bullpen session Friday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 12:02 PM
Ragans (elbow) threw a second bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Ragans' bullpen session Friday comes on the heels of a 23-pitch session Wednesday. The continued throwing is an encouraging sign, and the Royals will determine the next steps in his recovery after evaluating how the 28-year-old feels over the weekend. The southpaw has been on the injured list since May 8 with a left elbow impingement and made a rehab start May 23, but his progression was paused after he experienced discomfort in the aftermath of the outing. Before being sidelined, Ragans posted a 1-4 record with a 4.84 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 45:23 K:BB across 35.1 innings (eight starts).
Luinder Avila
Luinder Avila Can't escape first inning
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 8:23 AM
Avila (1-3) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Astros after allowing eight runs on five hits, including two home runs, and three walks over two-thirds of an inning.
Analysis: Avila gave up two home runs to star slugger Yordan Alvarez while being responsible for eight of the nine runs the Astros scored in the first inning. This was a step in the wrong direction for Avila, who was coming off back-to-back starts in which he'd allowed just one run over five frames. Avila, who carries a 7.02 ERA over his last five starts, is slated to make his next start on the road against the Nationals.
Eli Morgan
Eli Morgan Recalled by Kansas City
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 5:07 PM
The Royals recalled Morgan from Triple-A Omaha on Friday.
Analysis: The move corresponds with the Royals placing Seth Lugo on the 7-day concussion list. Morgan has split his time somewhat evenly between the majors and the minors this season. He's appeared in 13 games for the Royals and has a 5.51 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB across 16.1 innings. Morgan could just be a placeholder in the bullpen until the Royals need to call up a starter to replace Lugo in the rotation.
Seth Lugo
Seth Lugo Placed on concussion IL
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 5:01 PM
The Royals placed Lugo on the 7-day concussion list Friday.
Analysis: Lugo was struck in the forehead by a line drive during Wednesday's game against the Rangers. The good news for Lugo was that a subsequent CT scan came back negative, but he's now in the league's concussion protocol and will need to hit multiple checkpoints before being cleared to return to the majors. In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled Eli Morgan from Triple-A Omaha.
Michael Wacha
Michael Wacha Finishes strong after early trouble
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 6:54 PM
Wacha (4-5) allowed four runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two batters over seven innings in a loss against Texas on Thursday.
Analysis: Wacha looked like he could be in for a short outing after giving up three runs on five hits over the first three innings. The veteran righty was able to settle down thereafter and surrendered only one more run, but the Royals' offense was never able to catch up. Wacha notched just seven whiffs on 102 pitches and tied a season low with two punchouts, but he at least managed to spare a thin KC bullpen by covering seven frames. He has once again provided a reliable arm for the Royals, posting a 3.58 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 69:27 K:BB through 88 innings across 14 starts.
Seth Lugo
Seth Lugo CT scan comes back negative
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 10:22 AM
Lugo's (head) CT scan came back negative.
Analysis: Lugo was involved in a scary incident during Wednesday's outing versus the Rangers when he was struck in the forehead by a line drive off the bat of Brandon Nimmo. He got to his feet quickly and seemed alert but was pulled from the game. Per Anne Rogers of MLB.com, Lugo has some swelling on his forehead and his left (non-throwing) elbow is sore from falling, but the pitcher feels OK, all things considered. It looks like Lugo has dodged a serious injury and could make his next scheduled start Monday versus the Nationals, but he'll continue to be monitored in the coming days.
