Mitch Spence
Mitch Spence Recalled before Monday's start
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:37 PM
The Royals recalled Spence from Triple-A Omaha on Monday.
Analysis: Spence will get the start Monday on the road against the Nationals. The right-hander permitted six runs over four innings in his lone appearance in the majors this season and has turned in a 6.54 ERA in 10 starts at Triple-A Omaha. Spence could earn additional turns in the rotation if things go well Monday.
Connor Seabold
Connor Seabold Traded to Kansas City
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:27 PM
The Royals acquired Seabold from the Blue Jays on Monday in exchange for Denis Samudio and cash considerations.
Analysis: Seabold has made 16 relief appearances between the Tigers and Blue Jays this season, collecting a 4.26 ERA and 15:7 K:BB over 19 innings. The 30-year-old is capable of providing length for a Royals bullpen that could use it.
Carlos Estevez
Carlos Estevez Sent to 60-day IL
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:19 PM
The Royals transferred Estevez (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
Analysis: Estevez has already been on the shelf for more than two months, so his move to the 60-day IL is merely procedural and won't affect his timeline for a return. The right-hander was initially deactivated April 1 due to a foot contusion, but he's since recovered from that injury and is now working his way back from a right rotator cuff strain, which he sustained during a minor-league rehab appearance in early May. Estevez resumed throwing off flat ground May 27 and could be cleared to start throwing off a mound this week.
Bobby Witt Jr.
Bobby Witt Jr. Swipes two bases Sunday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 11:40 AM
Witt went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two steals in Sunday's 4-0 victory over Houston.
Analysis: Witt's activity on the bases continued Sunday, as he recorded his ninth steal of the month and third multi-steal effort of the campaign to boost his season total to 26 stolen bases. The star shortstop is currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 9-for-22 (.409) with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored. Overall, Witt is hitting .287/.358/.455 with nine homers, 19 doubles, a triple, 28 RBI and 36 runs scored across 72 games this year.
Eli Morgan
Eli Morgan Sent to Omaha
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 8:22 AM
The Royals optioned Morgan to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.
Analysis: Morgan made one scoreless appearance during this most recent stint in the Royals' bullpen. His spot on the roster is poised to be filled by Mitch Spence, who will be summoned from Omaha to start Monday's game versus the Nationals.
Mitch Spence
Mitch Spence Start on tap Monday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 8:13 AM
The Royals list Spence as their scheduled starting pitcher for Monday's game against the Nationals.
Analysis: Kansas City will officially recall Spence from Triple-A Omaha prior to Monday's game, with the right-hander set to enter the rotation as a replacement for Seth Lugo (concussion). The 28-year-old Spence has had a rough 2026 campaign, getting torched for six runs over four innings in his lone appearance in the majors and posting a 6.54 ERA in 10 starts at Triple-A Omaha. Nevertheless, with Lugo, Cole Ragans (elbow) and Kris Bubic (elbow/shoulder) all facing uncertain timetables to return from the injured list, Spence has a chance to stick around with the big club beyond Monday.
Kris Bubic
Kris Bubic MRI yields good news
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 5:29 PM
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Sunday that Bubic underwent another MRI that showed nothing structurally wrong with his left elbow or shoulder, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Analysis: After being forced to the 15-day injured list May 18 due to a sore left elbow, Bubic made enough progress to gain clearance to head out on a rehab assignment. During his start Tuesday with Triple-A Omaha, Bubic experienced a shoulder issue, which was likely a contributing factor in him getting lit up for five earned runs on eight hits and one walk while recording just four outs. Fortunately, follow-up tests didn't reveal anything overly concerning, so the Royals were comfortable allowing Bubic to resume playing catch Sunday. Assuming he incurs no further setbacks during his throwing progression, Bubic could head back out on his rehab assignment at some point in the next week or two.
Kameron Misner
Kameron Misner Getting regular run in center
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 1:29 PM
Misner will start in center field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Misner will draw a fourth straight start after going 4-for-9 with a walk and three RBI over the prior three contests. The 28-year-old looks poised to handle an everyday role in center field for Kansas City while Kyle Isbel (foot) is on the shelf.
Lane Thomas
Lane Thomas Goes yard in loss
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 12:10 PM
Thomas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Thomas jumped on a center-cut sinker from Mike Burrows in the fourth inning, blasting a 432-foot homer into the fountains at Kauffman Stadium for his third long ball of the season. The veteran outfielder has been productive when called upon in June, going 9-for-30 (.300) with two homers, six RBI, six runs and five walks across 11 appearances. With Vinnie Pasquantino (hand) expected to miss significant time, Thomas could see additional opportunities in right field, with Jac Caglianone shifting to first base.
Carter Jensen
Carter Jensen Drives in three runs Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 11:57 AM
Jensen went 2-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Jensen doubled up on doubles, with his second two-bagger of the night coming with the bases loaded and clearing the bases in the sixth inning. The catcher is in the midst of a modest six-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 7-for-24 (.292) with a homer, four doubles, seven RBI and five runs scored. On the year, the 22-year-old is slashing .220/.289/.393 with eight homers, 13 doubles, 35 RBI and 29 runs across 242 plate appearances.
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Looking at 4-to-6-week recovery
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 11:36 AM
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that Pasquantino underwent surgery Sunday to remove a fractured hamate bone in his right hand and will face a recovery timeline of roughly 4-to-6 weeks, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
Analysis: The projected timeline is a fairly standard one for hamate surgeries and likely indicates that the Royals plan on holding Pasquantino out through the All-Star break in mid-July. Jac Caglianone is slated to start at first base in Sunday's game against the Astros and should see the bulk of the playing time at the position for the duration of Pasquantino's stint on the 10-day injured list.
John Rave
John Rave Joins big club
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:28 AM
The Royals recalled Rave from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Analysis: Rave failed to make Kansas City's Opening Day roster and has enjoyed a strong start to the season at Omaha, posting a .278/.395/.475 slash line with 10 homers and 16 steals in 60 games. The 28-year-old will now join the Royals as outfield depth, taking the roster spot of Vinnie Pasquantino (hand).
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Out with hamate fracture
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 9:47 AM
The Royals placed Pasquantino (hand) on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right hamate fracture.
Analysis: The 28-year-old sustained the injury during Saturday's contest and now seems likely to be sidelined at least through the All-Star break, though he's currently without an official timeline for his return. Jac Caglianone replaced Pasquantino at first base Saturday and is also starting there Sunday, while John Rave was called up from Triple-A Omaha to bolster Kansas City's bench.
Noah Cameron
Noah Cameron Can't escape fifth inning Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 7:23 AM
Cameron didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Astros. He allowed four runs on seven hits, including two home runs, while striking out one across 4.1 innings.
Analysis: Cameron wasn't at his best Saturday and saw the end of a four-start streak in which he'd given up two or fewer earned runs. This was also the first time the southpaw gave up multiple homers in a game since April 18, when he allowed two long balls against the Yankees. Cameron has a 4.11 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 13 starts and 70 innings this season, but his 3.49 FIP suggests better times are ahead. He's slated to make his next start at home against the Cardinals.
Alex Lange
Alex Lange Tagged with loss Saturday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 7:19 AM
Lange (0-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Astros after allowing a run on one hit and a walk across 1.2 innings. He struck out one.
Analysis: The right-hander replaced Matt Strahm in the top of the eighth inning and retired Jake Meyers and Brice Matthews to keep the game tied. However, Lange couldn't do it again in the ninth and allowed the game-winning run on an RBI groundout from Christian Walker. Lange enjoyed a run of nine straight appearances without allowing a run between May 20 and June 9, but he's given up three over his last two outings (2.2 innings) since moving into a higher-leverage role. He owns a 4.13 ERA and 1.44 WHIP this season across 32.2 frames.
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Suffers hamate injury Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 8:28 PM
The Royals announced that Pasquantino sustained a right hamate injury in Saturday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: It's not good news for the Kansas City first baseman, who could be looking at an extended absence if he's dealing with a fracture. Pasquantino was removed from the contest after popping out in the bottom of the fifth inning. Over his previous 14 games, Pasquantino had slashed .309/.397/.436 with four doubles, one homer and eight RBI, so it's certainly bad timing, as he'd just been starting to heat up at the plate after an extremely slow start to the season.
Vinnie Pasquantino
Vinnie Pasquantino Leaves game early
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 7:54 PM
Pasquantino left Saturday's game against Houston early due to pain in his hand, reports Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City.
Analysis: Pasquantino was removed from Saturday's game after popping out in the bottom of the fifth inning and experiencing pain in his hand. Pasquantino was replaced by Isaac Collins who will take over and play left field while Jac Caglianone will move to first base.
Cole Ragans
Cole Ragans Has setback, slated for testing
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 4:47 PM
Ragans (elbow) had a throwing session cut short Friday and will undergo additional testing, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: According to manager Matt Quatraro, Ragans "woke up yesterday [Friday], not feeling as well arm-wise." The southpaw still attempted to throw, but he had to cut the session short. As a result, Kansas City has elected to have Ragans sent in for more testing, which will take place "in the next couple of days." Ragans had progressed to throwing bullpen sessions in his attempt to return from a left elbow impingement, but the setback may push back his timeline to rejoin Kansas City's rotation.
Isaac Collins
Isaac Collins Not starting Saturday
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 3:28 PM
Collins is out of the starting lineup Saturday versus Houston.
Analysis: Collins will get his first day off since June 2 after batting .222 with only one extra-base hit and a 6:6 BB:K over his past nine contests. Lane Thomas is starting in left field in Collins' place Saturday.
Kris Bubic
Kris Bubic Suffers setback after rehab start
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 12:27 PM
Bubic (elbow/shoulder) suffered a setback after beginning his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Omaha, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: In his first rehab start while recovering from left elbow soreness, Bubic was knocked around for five earned runs across 1.1 innings Tuesday and apparently emerged from the outing with a shoulder issue. The southpaw is scheduled to see a doctor over the weekend to determine the next steps. Prior to landing on the injured list in mid-May, Bubic posted a 3-2 record with a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 51:26 K:BB across 50.1 innings (nine starts).
