Hao-Yu Lee
Hao-Yu Lee Doubles, drives in two Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 9:31 PM
Lee went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 7-3 win over the Yankees.
Analysis: Lee is starting to trend upward, as he's now batting .356 over his last 15 games, and he's tallied five multi-hit performances during that time. The rookie is getting an extended look at second base with Gleyber Torres (oblique) on the injured list. Lee should return to the bench or possibly Triple-A Toledo once Torres is healthy, but for now, Lee is worth a look in deeper formats as long as he stays hot, and his dynasty value seems to be increasing as well.
Kevin McGonigle
Kevin McGonigle Productive again in win
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 9:23 PM
McGonigle went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in Monday's 7-3 win over the Yankees.
Analysis: McGonigle now has at least one hit in 19 of the 24 games he's played this month, and he's batting .281 overall in June, which is right in line with his .284 average for the season. The rookie has been incredibly consistent and productive thus far, and while he did strike out twice Monday, he has only 50 of them across 306 at-bats in 82 contests. The Tigers also batted McGonigle third Monday for just the fifth time this year after he's mostly served as the leadoff man, at least recently. A more permanent move down a few spots in the order could allow the youngster to tally more RBI, though it may slightly decrease how often he comes around to score.
Casey Mize
Casey Mize Rebounds with dominant start
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 9:12 PM
Mize (3-5) earned the win Monday against the Yankees, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in seven innings. He struck out 10.
Analysis: After giving up a season-worst eight hits his last time out against the Yankees, Mize bounced back in a huge way during Monday's rematch. The 29-year-old right-hander fanned a season-high 10 in his longest outing of the year, also surrendering a season-low one hit on the evening. Mize will be looking to build on Monday's showing this weekend in Texas, where he'll take an outstanding 2.63 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 68:14 K:BB across 65 innings.
Keider Montero
Keider Montero Moving back to bullpen
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 4:43 PM
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Monday that Montero will move to the bullpen for the time being, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Montero did nothing to lose his spot, as he tossed seven shutout innings versus the Astros his last time out and holds a 3.34 ERA in 15 starts this season. However, Jack Flaherty returned from the injured list over the weekend, and the Tigers will roll with a five-man rotation for now. Montero should eventually be asked to make more starts, but for now he'll likely be used in long relief.
Colt Keith
Colt Keith On bench versus lefty
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 3:01 PM
Keith is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: Southpaw Ryan Weathers is on the bump for the Yankees, so the Tigers will send three of key left-handed hitters in Keith, Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter to the bench to open up more spots in the lineup for righty bats. Keith has logged just 14 plate appearances versus lefties this season and has reached base on just two occasions.
Kerry Carpenter
Kerry Carpenter Heading to bench Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 2:59 PM
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: After a stretch of four consecutive starts, the left-handed-hitting Carpenter will hit the bench while the Yankees send southpaw Ryan Weathers to the bump. With Riley Greene and Colt Keith joining Carpenter on the bench, the Tigers will go with Jahmai Jones at designated hitter and Matt Vierling, James Outman and Ben Malgeri as their starters in the outfield from left to right.
Riley Greene
Riley Greene Rare breather Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 2:49 PM
Greene is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: It's the first time since April 17 and just the second time all season that Greene has been absent from the lineup. Matt Vierling will play left field and bat leadoff versus left-hander Ryan Weathers while Greene takes a seat.
Spencer Torkelson
Spencer Torkelson Goes deep off bench Sunday
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 7:21 PM
Torkelson went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5, 10-inning loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Torkelson started the contest on the bench and didn't enter until the eighth, but he provided a single in his first at-bat, then delivered his 13th home run of the season in the 10th. It was the slugger's first long ball since June 15, and he went just 7-for-37 with 11 strikeouts in between homers. Torkelson remains a boom-or-bust fantasy option who can be frustrating due to his propensity for falling into slumps.
Zach McKinstry
Zach McKinstry Goes deep in loss
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 7:15 PM
McKinstry went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5, 10-inning loss to the Astros,
Analysis: McKinstry hit just his third home run of the season in the second inning to give the Tigers an early lead. It's mostly been an offensive struggle for the utility player, as he's batting just .191 with a .574 OPS, though he does now have consecutive multi-hit efforts. McKinstry is also seeing more regular time at shortstop recently, and he could start to raise his fantasy value a bit if he can string together a few more good performances.
Kenley Jansen
Kenley Jansen Struggles, takes fourth loss Sunday
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 7:09 PM
Jansen (1-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits and a walk across 1.1 innings of relief to take the loss in Sunday's extra-inning contest against the Astros. He struck out one.
Analysis: Jansen got through the top of the ninth inning of a 3-3 game without any problems, but things came unraveled in the 10th. The veteran started the frame by allowing a walk, a single and a three-run home run. The rough outing pushed Jansen's ERA from 4.26 up to 5.31. It's been a poor campaign overall with four blown saves and now four losses as well. He's become increasingly hard to trust in fantasy leagues.
Jack Flaherty
Jack Flaherty Shines with nine Ks in return
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 6:21 PM
Flaherty took a no-decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing no runs on two hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: After missing about two weeks with a left peroneal strain, Flaherty looked very sharp in his return Sunday while generating 16 whiffs over five shutout frames. The month of June was certainly the 30-year-old right-hander's best so far, as he's posted a 2.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB across his last 23 innings. Flaherty, who still has a dispositioning 4.97 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 87:37 K:BB across 70.2 frames overall, will hope to maintain his momentum in Texas his next time out.
Spencer Torkelson
Spencer Torkelson Exiting lineup Sunday
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 12:55 PM
Torkelson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Colt Keith will fill in at first base while Torkelson rests in the series finale. Torkelson will head to the bench for the first time since May 24, ending a streak of 30 consecutive starts during which he produced a .219 average, five home runs, 12 RBI and 15 runs.
Enmanuel De Jesus
Enmanuel De Jesus Sent to Triple-A
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 12:55 PM
The Tigers optioned De Jesus to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: De Jesus hasn't given up a run in his past eight appearances (13 innings), but he'll still end up being the odd man out for a roster spot since Jack Flaherty (ankle) is coming off the IL to start Sunday. De Jesus should get another look in the majors before long given his recent form.
Jack Flaherty
Jack Flaherty Reinstated for Sunday's start
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 11:26 AM
The Tigers activated Flaherty (ankle) from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Astros, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: The veteran right-hander has spent the past couple weeks on the shelf due to a left peroneal strain, but he's ready to rejoin Detroit's rotation after one rehab start with Double-A Erie. Flaherty has yet to find much consistency on the mound in 2026 with a 5.35 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 78:34 K:BB across 65.2 innings.
Kerry Carpenter
Kerry Carpenter Launches grand slam Saturday
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 6:48 PM
Carpenter went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 8-6 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: The 28-year-old slugger came to the plate with the bases loaded in the third inning and got hold of a hanging curveball from Kai-Wei Teng, depositing it in the right-field seats. It was Carpenter's 12th homer of the season and, remarkably, the first grand slam of the season for the Tigers. Carpenter's gone yard in back-to-back games, and over 22 contests in June he's batting .234 (15-for-64) with seven long balls and 18 RBI.
Framber Valdez
Framber Valdez Denied win Saturday
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 6:44 PM
Valdez didn't factor into the decision Saturday, giving up four runs on eight hits over six innings as the Tigers were downed 8-6 by the Astros. He struck out two without walking a batter.
Analysis: The veteran left-hander got tagged for runs in the second, third and fourth frames, but Valdez didn't issue a free pass for only the second time in 17 starts this season and exited the mound after 88 pitches (59 strikes) in line for his fifth win, before Will Vest melted down in the eighth. Through five outings and 28 innings in June, Valdez sports a 3.21 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB. He lines up to make his next trip to the mound on the road next weekend against the Rangers.
Dillon Dingler
Dillon Dingler Getting rest Saturday
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 9:42 AM
Dingler isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.
Analysis: Dingler will get a day off after going 2-for-7 with a homer and two RBI through the first two games of the series. Jake Rogers will fill in for him behind the plate and bat ninth.
Kevin McGonigle
Kevin McGonigle Swipes two bags in big win
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 8:51 AM
McGonigle went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 8-0 win over the Astros.
Analysis: The 21-year-old infielder set the table for the rout from the leadoff spot as he continues to enjoy a spectacular MLB debut. McGonigle has hit safely in 11 of the last 12 games, batting .311 (14-for-45) over that span with a .415 OBP, and on the season he's produced a .284/.391/.426 slash line with six homers, 11 steals, 28 RBI and 49 runs in 79 contests.
Keider Montero
Keider Montero Blanks Houston in emotional win
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 8:47 AM
Montero (4-5) picked up the win in Friday's 8-0 victory over the Astros, scattering five hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: With his mind on the devastation back home after two recent earthquakes, the Venezuelan right-hander produced one of his best outings of the season en route to his seventh quality start of 2026. Montero fired 70 of 96 pitches for strikes, and Houston didn't even get a runner past second base until his final frame. Over five appearances (four starts) in June, Montero sports a 2.70 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 26.2 innings. Jack Flaherty (ankle) is expected to come off the IL this weekend with Justin Verlander (hamstring) potentially not far behind him, so the Tigers' rotation could get very crowded ahead of the All-Star break, but for now Montero is set to make his next start on the road next week against the Rangers.
James Outman
James Outman Provides jolt Friday
Sat, Jun 27, 2026, 8:15 AM
Outman went 1-for-2 with a walk, a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-0 win over the Astros.
Analysis: Outman is starting to seize more playing time in center field in tandem with Matt Vierling, with Vierling also capable of playing a corner spot as he did Friday. Outman isn't hitting much with only a .190 batting average in 11 games with the Tigers and an even worse .165 average overall. He's not a particularly exciting fantasy option due to the lack of consistent contact, but with both Javier Baez (ankle) and Wenceel Perez (orbital) facing extended absences, playing time should continue to be there for Outman in the short term, unless the Tigers decide the time is right to bring up top prospect Max Clark.
