Dillon Dingler
Dillon Dingler Powers offense with two home runs
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:42 PM
Dingler went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, two additional runs scored and four total RBI in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays.
Analysis: Dingler led the charge Monday with his best all-around game of the season, hitting two of Detroit's five home runs as a team in the offensive showcase. The catcher is now up to 13 long balls for the year, which ties his tally from the entire 2025 regular season. Dingler has struggled to make consistent contact recently with a .189 batting average over his last 15 games before Monday, but his power potential certainly helps offset that. Among MLB catchers, Dingler is second in home runs behind Shea Langeliers, who has gone deep 14 times.
Will Vest
Will Vest Allows run but secures first save
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:30 PM
Vest allowed a run on two hits across 1.2 innings of relief but managed to secure the save in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays. He struck out two.
Analysis: With Kyle Finnegan recording a blown save in four of his last nine appearances and Kenley Jansen (pelvis) on the injured list, the Tigers turned to Vest to close things out Monday. The veteran righty allowed at least one run for the third time in his last five games and now has an unsightly 7.23 ERA, but he still managed to shut the door for his first save of the year. Finnegan worked earlier in the contest, and both he and Vest could continue to get save opportunities for however long Jansen is out, making this a tricky bullpen for fantasy purposes.
Hao-Yu Lee
Hao-Yu Lee Hits second home run Monday
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:22 PM
Lee went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays.
Analysis: Lee's second home run at the MLB level was one of five long balls hit by Detroit in the high-scoring contest. The 23-year-old infielder is off to a fairly slow start with a .205 batting average and .578 OPS across his first 32 games in the majors, though he's seeing more playing time at second base with Gleyber Torres (oblique) on the injured list. However, Torres could be back as soon as Tuesday, which would likely push Lee back to the bench or down to the minors.
Riley Greene
Riley Greene Homers, drives in three in win
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:15 PM
Greene went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a solo home run and three total RBI in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays.
Analysis: Greene was right in the middle of Detroit's offensive onslaught Monday, as he lifted one of the team's five home runs. The talented outfielder only has five long balls through 61 games, putting him well behind last year's pace, when he blasted a career-high 36 homers in 157 regular-season games. However, Greene has otherwise been excellent with a .309/.399/.450 slash line, and the batting average and on-base percentage would both be new career bests.
Kerry Carpenter
Kerry Carpenter Homers in three-hit game
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:10 PM
Carpenter went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and two total RBI in Monday's 10-9 win over the Rays.
Analysis: Carpenter was one of four Detroit players to go deep in an offensive explosion Monday. The outfielder just returned from the injured list Sunday after missing about three weeks due to an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, and the long ball was his first since April 24. Carpenter is still looking to hit his stride this year, and the injury certainly disrupted his momentum, but the 28-year-old is capable of heating up in a hurry.
Ty Madden
Ty Madden Lifted early in return
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 9:02 PM
Madden took a no-decision Monday against the Rays, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: After missing about two weeks with a right forearm contusion, Madden got a very quick hook Monday in a subpar outing. The 26-year-old right-hander made his first start of the season following three relief appearances, and he threw only 48 pitches (28 strikes) before his evening came to a close. Madden, who has a 3.07 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 14.2 innings, could be headed back to Detroit's bullpen when Justin Verlander (hip) is ready to rejoin the rotation.
Matt Vierling
Matt Vierling Bowing out of starting nine
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 2:32 PM
Vierling is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: He'll head to the bench after starting in each of Detroit's last four games while going 2-for-13 with two walks and a run. Wenceel Perez will cover center field in Vierling's place in the series opener.
Ty Madden
Ty Madden Activated ahead of Monday's start
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 2:31 PM
The Tigers activated Madden (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: Madden is set to start Monday's game against the Rays after missing the last couple weeks with a right forearm contusion. The right-hander threw 4.1 innings and 70 pitches in his lone rehab start and should be capable of stretching out to 80 pitches or so Monday in Tampa Bay.
Ricky Vanasco
Ricky Vanasco Sent back to minors
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 2:28 PM
The Tigers optioned Vanasco to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.
Analysis: Vanasco has made five appearances for the Tigers this season and has been torched for 12 runs (11 earned) over 6.1 innings. He's clearing off the roster to make space for the return of Ty Madden (forearm), who will start Monday in Tampa Bay.
Gleyber Torres
Gleyber Torres Could return from IL on Tuesday
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 2:12 PM
Torres (oblique) has joined the Tigers at Tropicana Field on Monday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game versus the Rays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Torres appears to be done with his rehab assignment after playing back-to-back games with Triple-A Toledo on Saturday and Sunday. He will receive some rest Monday before returning to the Tigers' active roster Tuesday, barring unforeseen circumstances. Torres has been shelved since early May while battling a left oblique strain.
Tarik Skubal
Tarik Skubal Completes four-inning sim game
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 1:28 PM
Skubal (elbow) worked four innings in a simulated game Monday at Tropicana Field, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Unofficially, Skubal allowed two hits and one walk and struck out six batters while inducing 10 swings and misses on 64 pitches (45 strikes). The workload marked a substantial increase from Skubal's previous sim game last Tuesday, when he tossed 39 pitches over 2.2 innings. Though manager A.J. Hinch previously indicated that the Tigers were expecting Skubal complete a third sim game during the upcoming weekend, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News suggests that Detroit could nix that plan and instead have the two-time Cy Young Award winner head out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The Tigers will wait and see how Skubal bounces back from Monday's sim game before deciding his next step, but if the southpaw is cleared to join a minor-league affiliate, he may need just one start before returning from the 15-day injured list and slotting back into the Detroit rotation.
Keider Montero
Keider Montero Smooth sailing in no-decision
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:08 PM
Montero took a no-decision Sunday against the White Sox, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Montero was cruising along on the hill Sunday, so it was somewhat surprising to see the Tigers pull him after he threw just 65 pitches (46 strikes). Sunday was the second time this year that the 25-year-old right-hander spun six innings of two-hit ball, and it was also the fourth time already this season that he pitched at least six frames while yielding one run or zero. Montero has emerged as a serviceable member of Detroit's rotation in 2026, posting a 3.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB across 61 innings.
Ty Madden
Ty Madden Set to be activated Monday
Sun, May 31, 2026, 5:11 PM
Madden (forearm) is expected be activated from the 15-day injured list and start Monday's contest on the mound versus the Rays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Madden will make his return to action with the Tigers after missing just over two weeks while recovering from a right forearm contusion. The 26-year-old tossed 4.1 innings of one-run ball with Triple-A Toledo on Monday, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out three in his only minor-league rehab start. Madden has posted a 2.38 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 12 punchouts over 11.1 innings in three appearances with Detroit this season, and Monday's start will be his first of the 2026 campaign.
Drew Anderson
Drew Anderson Hit hard in third loss
Sun, May 31, 2026, 4:48 PM
Anderson (2-3) allowed two runs on four hits while retiring only two batters in relief to take the loss Sunday against the White Sox.
Analysis: After Detroit starter Keider Montero tossed six scoreless innings, Anderson came on in the seventh and got into some trouble. He retired the first batter he faced but then served up a solo home run to Colson Montgomery. Chicago proceeded to rattle off three more hits in a row to plate another run before Anderson got the hook with the Tigers trailing 2-1. The righty has allowed four runs (three earned) over his last two appearances, which has pushed his ERA from 3.44 up to 4.03, and he was charged with the loss in both outings as well.
Spencer Torkelson
Spencer Torkelson Records two hits, RBI in loss
Sun, May 31, 2026, 4:41 PM
Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: While Detroit is struggling with a 2-8 record in its last 10 games, Torkelson has been heating up. During that same stretch, he's batting .314 with five extra-base hits. Overall, Torkelson is now batting .214 with a .720 OPS, and he seems to be trending upward toward the career-best .240 batting average and .789 OPS he posted during the 2025 regular season. His power is down, however, with only eight home runs in 59 games this year after going deep 31 times in 155 games last regular season, which tied his career high.
Gage Workman
Gage Workman Returns to Triple-A
Sun, May 31, 2026, 1:09 PM
The Tigers optioned Workman to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Analysis: Workman ended up being the roster casualty after the Tigers activated outfielder Kerry Carpenter (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday's series finale versus the White Sox. After being called up from Triple-A on May 10 when Carpenter was initially placed on the shelf, Workman appeared in 16 games for Detroit but slashed just .158/.158/.553 with a 42.1 percent strikeout rate over 38 plate appearances.
Dillon Dingler
Dillon Dingler Taking seat Sunday
Sun, May 31, 2026, 12:45 PM
Dingler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis: The absence ends a run of 24 consecutive starts for Dingler, who posted a .191/.194/.416 slash line with five doubles, five homers, 11 RBI and 11 runs during that span. Jake Rogers will step in behind the plate Sunday while Kerry Carpenter (shoulder) serves as the DH in his return from the injured list.
Kerry Carpenter
Kerry Carpenter Returning from IL as DH on Sunday
Sun, May 31, 2026, 10:29 AM
The Tigers reinstated Carpenter (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. He'll start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in the Tigers' series finale versus the White Sox.
Analysis: Carpenter will be back in action for Detroit after a three-week absence while he recovered from an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. The 28-year-old could eventually settle back into a regular role in the corner outfield, but after going 1-for-3 with three walks while playing in a pair of rehab games with Triple-A Toledo the past two days, Carpenter won't be asked to play defense in his return from the IL.
Justin Verlander
Justin Verlander Completes bullpen session
Sun, May 31, 2026, 8:38 AM
Verlander (hip) tossed a bullpen session Saturday in Chicago, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Verlander returned to the mound three days after he completed a four-inning, 66-pitch simulated game Wednesday during which he topped out at 95.3 mph with his fastball, per Jason Beck of MLB.com. A left hip injury has kept him on the shelf since April 4, and while the 43-year-old hurler has been building up his pitch count in sim games, Detroit could still have Verlander go on a brief rehab stint before bringing him back from the injured list. He'll be re-evaluated Sunday before the Tigers determine his next step.
Wenceel Perez
Wenceel Perez Lifts off again in loss
Sun, May 31, 2026, 8:29 AM
Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the White Sox.
Analysis: Perez has only five home runs this season, but three of them have come in his last five games. The power surge is nice, but the outfielder is batting just .235 during the stretch, and he's batting only .172 overall this year. Perez looks like he can occasionally be a nice source of homers, but his low batting average will make him a volatile fantasy asset prone to extended slumps.
