Bailey Horn
Bailey Horn Transferred to 60-day IL
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 3:32 PM
The Tigers transferred Horn (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Horn is coming back from offseason arthroscopic left elbow surgery and had to be pulled off his rehab assignment last week because of a setback. It's not clear where Horn's rehab currently stands, but the reliever now won't be eligible for activation until late May.
Burch Smith
Burch Smith Contract selected
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 2:31 PM
The Tigers selected Smith's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Smith was off to a terrific start with Toledo, yielding two runs with a 16:0 K:BB over 10 innings. The 36-year-old will give the Tigers a fresh bullpen arm and will be making his first major-league appearance since 2024 when/if he gets into a game.
Enmanuel De Jesus
Enmanuel De Jesus Optioned to Triple-A
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 2:28 PM
The Tigers optioned De Jesus to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: De Jesus was hammered for seven runs (five earned) while throwing 49 pitches over 1.1 innings during an ugly relief outing Tuesday versus the Brewers. He will be replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Burch Smith.
Colt Keith
Colt Keith Opening Wednesday's game on bench
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 2:27 PM
Keith is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Though the left-handed-hitting Keith will begin Wednesday's contest on the bench, he could check in once lefty DL Hall -- who is opening the game for the Brewers -- is lifted from the game. Jahmai Jones will pick up a start at designated hitter in place of Keith.
Dillon Dingler
Dillon Dingler Receiving evening off
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 2:22 PM
Dingler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Despite going hitless in nine at-bats over his last two starts, Dingler still ranks fourth among all qualified catchers this season with an .873 OPS. He'll get a chance to catch his breath Wednesday, paving the way for Jake Rogers to receive a turn behind the plate.
Keider Montero
Keider Montero Stuck with loss Tuesday
Wed, Apr 22, 2026, 8:41 AM
Montero (1-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings as the Tigers fell 12-4 to the Brewers. He struck out three.
Analysis: Montero was lifted after 88 pitches (55 strikes), coming up just short of his second quality start in four trips to the mound since joining the Detroit rotation. The 25-year-old right-hander has delivered a strong 3.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB through 22 innings, and with Justin Verlander (hip) not being rushed back into action, Montero should keep his current role into May. He's set to make his next start on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.
Kevin McGonigle
Kevin McGonigle Keeps on rolling Tuesday
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 9:08 PM
McGonigle went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Brewers.
Analysis: Despite the lopsided loss, McGonigle continued to be a bright spot for the Tigers. The rookie infielder is now riding a six-game hitting streak, with the last three games all going down as multi-hit efforts. Overall, McGonigle is batting a robust .322 with a .904 OPS, and the prospect hype surrounding the 21-year-old has quickly translated into elite fantasy performance.
Riley Greene
Riley Greene Reaches twice in rout
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 9:04 PM
Greene went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Brewers.
Analysis: Detroit didn't have much go right Tuesday, but Greene at least managed to continue his strong recent play. Over his last 10 games, the talented outfielder is batting .379 with a home run, eight RBI and eight runs scored, and he has at least one hit in six of those contests. After a bit of a slow start to the season, it seems like Greene is heating up, and his counting stats should begin trending upward as well if he can continue to make consistent contact at the plate.
Enmanuel De Jesus
Enmanuel De Jesus Hit hard Tuesday
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 9:02 PM
De Jesus allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks across 1.1 innings of relief in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Brewers.
Analysis: De Jesus came on after 5.2 innings from starter Keider Montero and with Detroit trailing 3-1. The lefty reliever quickly let things unravel as he saw his ERA nearly double from 5.40 to an unsightly 10.13, and it would have been worse if not for the unearned runs. De Jesus has nine strikeouts across eight innings this year, which is encouraging, but he's otherwise been ineffective, and he doesn't currently have a ton of fantasy value in his role out of the Tigers' bullpen.
Justin Verlander
Justin Verlander Another bullpen on tap
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 4:10 PM
Verlander (hip) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Manager A.J. Hinch said last week that Verlander's recovery from hip inflammation was "going a little slower than anticipated," but the 42-year-old continues to throw bullpen sessions. Verlander hasn't suffered a setback to this point, but it doesn't appear he'll be rejoining Detroit's rotation in the immediate future.
Zach McKinstry
Zach McKinstry Going through light activities
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 3:46 PM
McKinstry (hip) has resumed light baseball activities, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: McKinstry landed on the 10-day injured list last week with left hip/abdominal inflammation but has started to slowly ramp things back up at the Tigers' spring training complex in Florida. He has a good chance to return Sunday when first eligible.
Jack Flaherty
Jack Flaherty Loses control in no-decision
Mon, Apr 20, 2026, 1:35 PM
Flaherty didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Red Sox, allowing two runs (zero earned) on three hits and six walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: With Monday's game having an early first-pitch time of 11:10 a.m. ET, Flaherty appeared to be a step slow on the mound. It was the third time in his career that the right-hander issued at least six walks, and the Tigers decided they'd seen enough after he threw a season-low 73 pitches (41 strikes). Flaherty has a strong 3.47 ERA through 23.1 innings, but his 1.59 WHIP and 24:20 K:BB are major causes for concern ahead of a difficult task at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park against the Reds in his next start.
Javier Baez
Javier Baez Grabbing seat Monday
Mon, Apr 20, 2026, 8:15 AM
Baez is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Red Sox.
Analysis: Baez had drawn seven consecutive starts, but he'll get a day off for the Patriots' Day game in Boston. Matt Vierling will patrol center field, and Kevin McGonigle will occupy shortstop in the series finale.
Spencer Torkelson
Spencer Torkelson Sitting out Monday
Mon, Apr 20, 2026, 8:12 AM
Torkelson is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Boston.
Analysis: Torkelson has endured a dreadful start to the season, slashing just .182/.333/.227 while failing to hit a home run and striking out at a 28.4 percent clip over 81 plate appearances. The Tigers will roll with Colt Keith at first base Monday while Torkelson gets a breather.
Framber Valdez
Framber Valdez Seven Ks in second win
Sun, Apr 19, 2026, 9:57 PM
Valdez (2-1) tallied the win Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.
Analysis: The star left-hander flooded the zone Sunday, firing 70 of his 98 offerings for strikes en route to fanning a season-high seven. Valdez has now worked at least six innings and given up one or zero runs in four of his first five starts, though the other outing during this span was an eight-run implosion in Minnesota. Valdez owns a strong 3.30 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB over 30 frames overall, but he has a fairly tough assignment for his next outing at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park versus the Reds.
Dillon Dingler
Dillon Dingler Homers in four-hit game
Sun, Apr 19, 2026, 8:54 PM
Dingler went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBI in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Red Sox.
Analysis: Dingler was dialed in Sunday, as he raised his batting average above .300 with his first four-hit effort of the season. The Detroit catcher also launched his fifth home run of the year and is now up to 18 RBI through 19 games. Dingler is emerging as a top-flight fantasy catcher, and he has a firm grip on the starting role for the Tigers, with Jake Rogers around as the clear backup.
Jahmai Jones
Jahmai Jones Hits first 2026 home run
Sun, Apr 19, 2026, 8:49 PM
Jones went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Red Sox.
Analysis: Jones connected for his first long ball of the season in the fifth inning against tough Boston lefty Garrett Crochet. It wasn't surprising to see Jones get the call against a southpaw, as he posted a .970 OPS in those matchups during the 2025 regular season. The outfielder is worth a look in DFS formats when he's in the lineup, but his limited role caps his value in standard fantasy leagues.
Colt Keith
Colt Keith Idle against lefty Sunday
Sun, Apr 19, 2026, 3:17 PM
Keith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Analysis: Keith will hit the bench for the third time in four games, with each of his absences coming while the Tigers have faced a left-handed starting pitcher. Jahmai Jones will take Keith's spot in the starting nine at designated hitter while Boston sends southpaw Garrett Crochet to the hill.
Kevin McGonigle
Kevin McGonigle Receiving Sunday off
Sun, Apr 19, 2026, 1:51 PM
McGonigle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: The 21-year-old rookie will hit the bench Sunday for just the second time this season. McGonigle started the previous eight games and posted a 1.057 OPS with three extra-base hits, eight runs and seven walks during that stretch. Javier Baez is starting at shortstop while Matt Vierling picks up a start in center field.
Framber Valdez
Framber Valdez Game start time pushed back
Sun, Apr 19, 2026, 11:45 AM
Valdez's scheduled start Sunday against the Red Sox has been pushed back three hours due to expected rain in Boston, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Analysis: An extended period of rain is forecasted for Boston from midday into the afternoon, prompting the game to be moved back from its scheduled start time of 1:35 p.m. ET to 4:35 p.m. ET. Valdez will square off against Red Sox lefty Garrett Crochet.
