Jake McCarthy
Jake McCarthy Productive in Saturday's win
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 5:21 PM
McCarthy went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a steal during the Rockies' 10-3 win over the Reds on Saturday.
Analysis: McCarthy extended his hitting streak to five games Saturday, and his on-base streak now sits at 13 games. He also collected his 17th steal of the season, which leads the Rockies and is tied for 12th-most in the National League. McCarthy is slashing .303/.349/.516 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI across 316 plate appearances this season.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Collects four RBI in Saturday's win
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 4:57 PM
Rumfield went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI during Saturday's 10-3 win over the Reds.
Analysis: Rumfield hit RBI singles in both the first and second innings before belting a two-run homer in the sixth inning to extend the Rockies' lead to 10-2. His four hits and four RBI were both career highs, and Saturday was the 28th multi-hit game of the season for the 26-year-old first baseman. Rumfield is slashing .302/.384/.485 with 13 home runs and 51 RBI across 393 plate appearances this season.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano Quality start in return from IL
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 4:53 PM
Sugano (9-4) earned the win against the Reds on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out three across 6.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: Sugano was activated from the 15-day IL ahead of Saturday's start after recovering from back spams that flared up in early July. There was less pressure on his shoulders after the Rockies' offense lit up Rhett Lowder for eight runs, but Sugano did his part by limiting the Reds to just three runs through six-plus innings, with two of those runs coming on solo homers from Jose Trevino. It was the fifth quality start of the season for Sugano, and he's now one win shy from matching his total in 2025 as a member of the Orioles. He'll take a 4.76 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 90.2 innings into his next start, tentatively lined up for next weekend on the road against the Brewers.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Resting up Saturday
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 1:01 PM
Karros isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds.
Analysis: Karros will retreat to the bench Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a run scored during a 7-2 loss in Friday's series opener. While Karros rests, Willi Castro will start at the hot corner and bat fifth.
Hunter Goodman
Hunter Goodman Idle Saturday
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 12:58 PM
Goodman isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati.
Analysis: Goodman will get a chance to reset after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Friday's loss. Brett Sullivan will handle catching duties and bat eighth while Goodman sits.
Jeff Criswell
Jeff Criswell Lands on injured list
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 12:34 PM
The Rockies placed Criswell on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder strain.
Analysis: Criswell gave up two earned runs in two innings Friday in what was his first appearance since returning to the majors last Saturday, but the Rockies will now be without his services until at least Aug. 2. His roster spot will be filled by Tomoyuki Sugano (back), who was reinstated from the injured list to start Saturday's game against the Reds.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano Activated ahead of start
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 12:27 PM
The Rockies reinstated Sugano (back) from the injured list ahead of his start Saturday against the Reds.
Analysis: Sugano never made any rehab starts in the minors after landing on the injured list July 4 with back spasms, so he could be working under a pitch-count restriction while he makes his return to the rotation Saturday. The 36-year-old righty has accumulated a 4.80 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 84.1 innings this season, and he'll be tasked with keeping quiet a Cincinnati offense that's posted a .770 OPS since the beginning of the month. Jeff Criswell (shoulder) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.
Gabriel Hughes
Gabriel Hughes Fans six but takes loss
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 8:25 AM
Hughes (0-1) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Reds after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks across 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Hughes was making just his second start of the season and ended two outs shy of recording a quality start, although the six strikeouts were a strong output. In two starts and three appearances this season, Hughes has allowed five runs on 11 hits and five walks while fanning 14 across 14.1 innings, translating to a 3.14 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. If he stays in the rotation for another turn, Hughes would be tabbed to make his next start against the Nationals at home next week.
Seth Halvorsen
Seth Halvorsen Facing hitters
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 5:59 PM
Halvorsen (shoulder) threw live batting practice Thursday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Analysis: Halvorsen is on the mend from shoulder inflammation that sent him to the injured list July 4. He's started to make significant progress after receiving a cortisone injection, and the Rockies are optimistic that he'll be able to begin a rehab assignment in the near future. A more definitive timeline for his return to Colorado's bullpen will likely emerge once he begins pitching in minor-league games.
Edouard Julien
Edouard Julien Out of lineup against righty
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:36 PM
Julien is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Reds.
Analysis: After making five straight starts at second base against right-handed pitching, the lefty-swinging Julien has now sat out two straight versus righties. Willi Castro will man the keystone for the Rockies on Friday.
Cole Carrigg
Cole Carrigg Exiting starting nine
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:34 PM
Carrigg is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Reds.
Analysis: Carrigg went 0-for-14 with seven strikeouts in his last five games before the All-Star break and will begin the first game of the second half on the bench. Mickey Moniak, Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman will patrol the outfield for the Rockies in Friday's series opener.
Gabriel Hughes
Gabriel Hughes Drawing first start of second half
Thu, Jul 16, 2026, 11:23 AM
Hughes will start Friday's game versus the Reds, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Hughes pitched well in his first major-league start last week, striking out seven while limiting the Dodgers to three runs across six innings. That showing has earned Hughes at least one additional start, though he should be avoided for fantasy purposes with the outing against the Reds coming at Coors Field.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano Lined up to start Saturday
Thu, Jul 16, 2026, 11:19 AM
Sugano (back) is expected to rejoin the Rockies' rotation with a start Saturday against the Reds, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sugano has missed the last two weeks of action with back spasms. He has not made any rehab starts, but the Rockies appear ready to re-insert the right-hander into their rotation this weekend. With a lack of rehab outings, Sugano's pitch count could be relatively limited Saturday versus Cincinnati.
Edouard Julien
Edouard Julien Sitting against righty
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 2:15 PM
Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: The Rockies have regularly shielded the left-handed-hitting Julien from southpaws this season, but he'll take a seat against a righty starter (Trevor McDonald) in the final game before the All-Star break. Tyler Freeman will get the nod at second base in place of Julien, who is slashing .228/.335/.321 (75 wRC+) over 224 plate appearances versus righties on the campaign.
Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak Two hits Saturday
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 8:58 AM
Moniak went 2-for-4 on Saturday against the Giants.
Analysis: Moniak was the only Rockie to reach base multiple times, and he tallied his fifth multi-hit effort across his last eight starts. He's also hitting .406 with six RBI, seven runs scored and two home runs across 10 appearances since the start of July, helping him build upon his breakout 2025 season. Moniak is pacing for a career-high home run total despite missing a month with an ankle injury, and he's also maintained a .283 batting average across 223 plate appearances.
Kyle Freeland
Kyle Freeland Mixed results in eighth loss
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 9:06 PM
Freeland (2-8) took the loss Saturday against the Giants, allowing four runs on six hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: Freeland was working on producing one of his best starts of the season, as he did fan a season-high nine, but Casey Schmitt launched a three-run home run in the sixth inning to leave a big dent on the hurler's line. The 33-year-old left-hander still turned in his fourth outing of the year with at least six frames, but he's now given up multiple runs in 13 consecutive appearances. Freeland has struggled to offer much fantasy viability in 2026, posting a career-worst 7.36 ERA and 1.57 WHIP despite an otherwise encouraging 79:18 K:BB over 88 innings.
Coors bound as fourth-round pick
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 5:41 PM
The Rockies selected Davis with the No. 104 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Davis added a couple ticks as a senior at Mississippi State, giving him a high-end combination of velocity and movement on his fastball. However, the expectation is that Davis will remain a reliever as he moves through the professional ranks.
Heading to Coors
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 4:56 PM
The Rockies selected Natili with the No. 76 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Natili is a righty-hitting catcher from Cincinnati who impressed at the combine. He joins Daniel Jackson as a second catcher selected by the Rockies early in this draft. He struck out over 20 percent of the time both years in college, but he hit 19 homers this spring.
Plucked by Rockies
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 3:23 PM
The Rockies selected Jackson with the No. 37 overall pick in the 2026 First-year Player Draft.
Analysis: Jackson transferred from Wofford to Georgia after his freshman season and really broke out this spring, hitting 32 homers with 26 steals in 67 games for the Bulldogs as a junior. He had a worrying 29.7 percent strikeout rate and .240 average as a sophomore but cut the strikeout rate to 20.1 percent while hitting .379 this year. He is fairly new to catching but projects to stick behind the plate thanks to above-average athleticism and a strong arm. The righty-hitting Jackson has huge power to all fields and could easily be a 20-homer/10-steal catcher if he hits enough to play regularly. Even though Jackson cut the Ks this spring, there is still more swing and miss in his game than with most of the college hitters selected in this range of the draft.
Drafted by Rockies
Sat, Jul 11, 2026, 3:22 PM
The Rockies selected Reddemann with the No. 38 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
Analysis: Reddemann transferred from San Diego to UCLA for his junior year, and saw his stuff tick up across the board before he was shut down after his April 17 start with arm fatigue. Known for his strike throwing ability at USD, Reddemann stayed stingy with the walks (4.7 BB%) after the jump in competition while also dominating with a 35.7 K% - way up from 23.2 K% as a sophomore. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound righty sits in the mid-90s with his fastball and leaned heavily on his upper-80s cutter (touches 91 mph) this spring. He also boasts a quality changeup but his curveball and slider lag behind. Reddemann's health status is up in the air, but before he was shut down he demonstrated mid-rotation starter traits, thanks largely to his plus control.
