Jake McCarthy
Jake McCarthy On bench for series opener
Mon, May 4, 2026, 12:38 PM
McCarthy is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: With southpaw David Peterson serving as the Mets' bulk reliever Monday, the left-handed-hitting McCarthy will head to the bench for the second time in three games. He'll cede center field to Brenton Doyle, who will bat ninth.
Troy Johnston
Troy Johnston Idle for series opener
Mon, May 4, 2026, 12:35 PM
Johnston is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: With left-hander David Peterson slated to work in bulk relief for New York, Johnston will begin Monday's contest on the bench along with fellow left-handed batters Edouard Julien and Jake McCarthy. Jordan Beck will enter the Colorado lineup in Johnston's stead, manning right field and batting sixth.
Edouard Julien
Edouard Julien Taking seat Monday
Mon, May 4, 2026, 12:32 PM
Julien is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Right-hander Huascar Brazoban is opening the game for the Mets, but the left-handed-hitting Julien will hit the bench to begin Monday's contest since New York will be using a lefty (David Peterson) in bulk relief. With Julien taking a seat, Tyler Freeman will occupy the designated-hitter spot and Willi Castro will start at second bas.
Jeff Criswell
Jeff Criswell In midst of rehab assignment
Mon, May 4, 2026, 9:02 AM
Criswell (elbow) made the second appearance of his rehab assignment with High-A Spokane on Sunday, striking out two over a perfect inning.
Analysis: Criswell missed the entire 2025 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery March 14, 2025, but the right-hander appears to be nearing the finish line in his long recovery process. Because the Rockies placed him on the 60-day injured list prior to Opening Day, Criswell won't be eligible for activation until late May, so he'll likely use most of his 30-day rehab window in the minors to knock off rust. Expect Criswell to eventually move his assignment to Double-A Hartford and/or Triple-A Albuquerque.
Ryan Feltner
Ryan Feltner Bullpen session on tap Tuesday
Mon, May 4, 2026, 8:56 AM
Feltner (elbow) is slated to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Feltner received the green light to move on to the next step in his recovery process from right ulnar nerve inflammation after he experienced no discomfort while playing catch out to 175 feet Saturday. According to MLB.com, Feltner said that he doesn't believe he'll require a rehab assignment prior to returning rom the injured list, but the right-hander will still likely need to complete multiple bullpen and live batting practice sessions before the Rockies activate him.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Clubs fourth homer in loss
Sun, May 3, 2026, 8:49 PM
Rumfield went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Rumfield was a bright spot in the loss, driving his first homer since April 20. The 25-year-old got off to a hot start with a .910 OPS through his first 15 games but has cooled off a bit since. Across 35 contests, the rookie first baseman is slashing .268/.329/.425 with four homers, six doubles, a triple, 19 RBI and 12 runs.
Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak Goes deep twice in loss
Sun, May 3, 2026, 8:38 PM
Moniak went 2-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 11-6 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Moniak went deep twice, unloading a 422-foot two-run laser off Aaron Bummer in a lefty-lefty matchup in the fourth inning before adding a solo shot in the eighth inning off Tyler Kinley. The outfielder remains red hot, as he's now up to four multi-homer games in 2026 and carries a 16-game hitting streak. Overall, Moniak is slashing .327/.374/.724 with 11 homers, six doubles, 21 RBI, 19 runs and a stolen base across 27 games.
Kyle Freeland
Kyle Freeland Allows six runs in third loss
Sun, May 3, 2026, 8:12 PM
Freeland (1-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against Atlanta. He struck out seven.
Analysis: Freeland generated a game-high 17 whiffs and struck out a season-best seven batters, but the contact he allowed was damaging as Atlanta tagged the southpaw for six earned runs, including two homers. The 32-year-old opened the season by allowing four runs across 15.2 innings over his first three starts, but in his past two outings since being reinstated from the injured list with left shoulder inflammation, he has allowed 10 earned runs across 9.1 frames. Overall, Freeland owns a 5.04 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with a 24:8 K:BB across 25 innings in 2026 and will look to get back on track in his next start, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against Philadelphia.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Spectating with righty on mound
Sun, May 3, 2026, 1:47 PM
Karros is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: Karros will hit the bench for the second time in the series, with both of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Willi Castro will step in at third base in place of Karros, who has a modest four-game hitting streak going but has cobbled together an underwhelming .213/.339/.277 slash line over 115 plate appearances on the season.
Chase Dollander
Chase Dollander Stumbles in no-decision
Sat, May 2, 2026, 10:30 PM
Dollander took a no-decision Saturday against Atlanta, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: Working behind opener Brennan Bernardino, Dollander put forth perhaps his worst effort of the campaign to this point. The hard-throwing right-hander hadn't given up multiple runs in any of his April outings, but he set season worsts in both runs and hits allowed as well as free passes Saturday. Dollander still has a strong 3.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB over 37.1 innings ahead of his next scheduled outing in Philadelphia.
Brennan Bernardino
Brennan Bernardino Working as opener Saturday
Sat, May 2, 2026, 10:53 AM
Bernardino will serve as the Rockies' opening pitcher for Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: The Rockies have typically used an opener in front of right-hander Chase Dollander this season, and the team will call upon Bernardino to handle those duties Saturday. The 34-year-old southpaw has been one of the most effective members of Colorado's entire pitching staff this season, turning in a 0.71 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 12.2 innings. He'll likely work just an inning or two before giving way to Dollander.
Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak Blasts ninth homer
Sat, May 2, 2026, 8:49 AM
Moniak went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Friday against Atlanta.
Analysis: Moniak singled and scored in the first inning and then blasted a leadoff homer -- his ninth long ball of the season -- one frame later. He also extended his hitting streak to 15 games, during which he's hit .368 with four homers, nine RBI and 11 runs scored. Moniak has at least one RBI in three straight contests and has been one of the most productive members of the Rockies' lineup to begin the campaign.
Juan Mejia
Juan Mejia Tagged with loss Friday
Sat, May 2, 2026, 8:42 AM
Mejia (0-3) was tagged with the loss in relief Friday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in one inning.
Analysis: Mejia entered the game in the top of the ninth inning in a tie game, but he couldn't hold the score. Mejia walked Kyle Farmer and was later taken deep by Michael Harris, who launched his seventh homer of the campaign. This marks the fourth time Mejia has allowed multiple runs in his 13 outings this season. He owns a 5.87 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 2026.
Jose Quintana
Jose Quintana Quality start in no-decision
Sat, May 2, 2026, 8:36 AM
Quintana didn't factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta, tossing six innings of one-run ball while allowing five hits and striking out three. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: Quintana was coming off his best start of the season, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings against the Mets on April 26, and he rode the momentum to his first quality start of the season in this matchup. Quintana endured significant struggles in the early stages of the campaign and posted a 6.23 ERA and 4:9 K:BB through 13 innings in his first three outings, but he's bounced back with a 1.59 ERA and 8:2 K:BB in 11.1 frames in his past two. He's scheduled to make his next start at home against the Mets.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Not in lineup Friday
Fri, May 1, 2026, 3:32 PM
Karros is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus Atlanta.
Analysis: It's a routine day off for Karros, who had started each of the previous 14 games. Willi Castro will handle third base and bat seventh for the Rockies in the series opener.
Tyler Freeman
Tyler Freeman First homer of 2026
Fri, May 1, 2026, 8:19 AM
Freeman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Reds.
Analysis: Freeman was in the lineup for the third time in the last four games, as he splits his time between DH and right field. He led off the scoring for the Rockies on Thursday with a blast in the first inning. It was Freeman's first homer of the season, and he continues to pick things up at the plate, having hit .303 with six RBI and three runs scored across his last 10 games.
Michael Lorenzen
Michael Lorenzen Lacks command in third loss
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 2:19 PM
Lorenzen (2-3) took the loss Thursday against the Reds, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The 34-year-old right-hander had a hard time finding his pitch location Thursday. Lorenzen served up two home runs, walked a season-high three batters and threw only 49 of his 85 pitches for strikes, but he was able to pitch at least five innings in his third consecutive start on a positive note. He has a poor 6.09 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB over 34 frames, making Lorenzen a fantasy option to avoid during his next scheduled outing back in Colorado against the Mets.
Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak Taking seat against southpaw
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 11:26 AM
Moniak is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Rockies kept Moniak in the lineup for Wednesday's 13-2 win while southpaw Brandon Williamson started for the Reds, but the left-handed-hitting outfielder will exit the starting nine Thursday while Cincinnati sends another lefty (Andrew Abbott) to the bump. Colorado will run out a starting outfield of Jordan Beck, Brenton Doyle and Troy Johnston from left to right in the series finale.
Ezequiel Tovar
Ezequiel Tovar First RBI since April 8
Thu, Apr 30, 2026, 7:08 AM
Tovar went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Reds.
Analysis: Tovar has had a forgettable start to the season by hitting only .195 with a 29.4 percent strikeout rate. However, he delivered a two-run single in the ninth inning to record his first RBI since April 8, a span of 16 starts. This also marked only the second time in his last eight starts that Tovar managed to record a hit.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano Tosses 5.1 scoreless innings
Wed, Apr 29, 2026, 11:16 PM
Sugano (3-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Reds, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out two over 5.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: Sugano turned in his first scoreless outing of the season, relying more on command than swing-and-miss stuff. The right-hander threw 51 of his 91 pitches for strikes and generated just five whiffs but made up for it with 24 called strikes to keep hitters off balance. He continues to show consistency, now holding opponents to two or fewer runs in five of his six outings. Sugano owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB across 31.2 innings in a strong debut season with Colorado and is slated to face the Mets in his next start early next week.
