Welinton Herrera
Welinton Herrera Done for season with torn UCL
Tue, Jun 2, 2026, 12:08 PM
Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer announced Monday that Herrera (elbow) has been diagnosed with a torn UCL and will miss the remainder of the season, Jack Janes of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Colorado placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Friday due to left elbow inflammation, but he was shifted to the 60-day IL just two days later after a follow-up MRI apparently revealed that the 22-year-old reliever was dealing with ligament damage. Schaeffer said that the Rockies don't currently have a timeline for Herrera to go under the knife, as the left-hander will presumably receive additional medical evaluations before deciding whether to get Tommy John surgery, an internal brace procedure or a hybrid of the two. Even if Herrera avoids a UCL reconstruction and instead has a UCL repair surgery, he's still likely to require close to a full year of rehab and recovery before returning to game action in the middle or second half of the 2027 season.
Welinton Herrera
Welinton Herrera Moved to 60-day IL
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 6:57 PM
The Rockies transferred Herrera (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: Herrera landed on the 15-day IL on Saturday due to left elbow inflammation. The injury is severe enough for him to warrant a move to the 60-day injured list, meaning that the earliest he is eligible to be reinstated is in late July. The move also opened a spot on the Rockies' 40-man roster, which the team filled after selecting TJ Shook's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Zach Agnos
Zach Agnos Sent down to Triple-A
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 6:53 PM
The Rockies optioned Agnos to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
Analysis: The move makes room on the 26-man roster for TJ Shook, who had his contract selected by the Rockies. Agnos has struggled on the mound as of late, having given up 14 earned runs over his last two outings spanning three frames. That has ballooned his numbers to a 7.78 ERA and 1.57 WHIP across 37 innings this season. Agnos will work on his command issues in the minors and could return to the big club should the Rockies need more right-handed depth out of the bullpen.
Called up by Colorado
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 6:50 PM
The Rockies selected Shook's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
Analysis: Shook has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he has a 2.86 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, seven saves and a 29:8 K:BB across 28.1 innings. He'll operate out of the Rockies' bullpen, and his first call to the mound will be his major-league debut. In corresponding moves, Zach Agnos was optioned to Albuquerque and Welinton Herrera (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Absent from Monday's lineup
Mon, Jun 1, 2026, 5:14 PM
Rumfield (shoulder) is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Angels on Monday.
Analysis: Rumfield is dealing with right shoulder inflammation, which caused him to be scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Giants. He's not ready to return for Monday's series opener, so Edouard Julien will start at first base and bat seventh against the Halos.
Tyler Freeman
Tyler Freeman Logs three hits Sunday
Sun, May 31, 2026, 10:30 PM
Freeman went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, a stolen base and a walk in Sunday's 19-6 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Freeman extended his hitting streak to six games with a three-hit performance, his first such effort of the campaign. In addition, the 27-year-old tallied his fifth stolen base of the season, his first swiped bag since May 8. With Mickey Moniak (ankle) and Jordan Beck (hamstring) sidelined, Freeman has seen steadier playing time in the outfield of late, starting in right field in seven of the past eight contests.
Tanner Gordon
Tanner Gordon Allows four runs in first loss
Sun, May 31, 2026, 9:33 PM
Gordon (0-1) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk over three-plus innings against San Francisco. He struck out two.
Analysis: Gordon made his second start of the season and didn't fare as well as last time out, when he allowed one run across five innings. The right-hander was lifted at 75 pitches (48 strikes) without recording an out in the fourth inning after allowing a double to Bryce Eldridge and hitting Daniel Susac. Both runners came around to score after Brennan Bernardino relieved Gordon. Across nine appearances and 35.1 innings this season, the 28-year-old owns a 6.37 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB. If he remains in the rotation, Gordon is lined up to make his next start Saturday against Milwaukee.
McCade Brown
McCade Brown Moving through throwing program
Sun, May 31, 2026, 7:18 PM
Brown (shoulder) had been scheduled to throw a live bullpen session this weekend, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The Rockies have yet to officially confirm whether Brown was able to complete the next step in his throwing program, but at the very least, the report presumably indicates that the right-hander has already thrown off a mound without a hitter present in the batter's box. Brown has been on the mend from right shoulder inflammation since the early weeks of spring training, and given how long he's been shelved, he'll likely need to complete multiple live sessions before moving on to what will presumably be an extended minor-league rehab assignment. The 26-year-old has three minor-league options remaining and could be sent to Triple-A Albuquerque or Double-A Hartford once he's deemed ready to return from the 60-day injured list.
Jimmy Herget
Jimmy Herget Starts throwing again
Sun, May 31, 2026, 7:09 PM
Herget (shoulder) was cleared to resume playing catch May 24, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Herget is in the process of ramping up his throwing after he was placed on the injured list May 14 due to a right shoulder impingement. The 32-year-old righty had been one of the Rockies' key setup men prior to landing on the shelf, notching three holds and one save while logging a 5.06 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 16 innings over 15 appearances.
Brenton Doyle
Brenton Doyle Limited to pool workouts
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:43 PM
The Rockies announced Friday that Doyle (oblique) has been to take part in some pool exercises since landing on the 10-day injured list May 21, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Doyle is working his way back from a left oblique contusion, and though the discomfort he had been experiencing seems to have dissipated a bit in recent days, he's not yet been cleared to resume baseball activities. With Doyle's stay on the IL likely to extend through at least the upcoming week, Jake McCarthy should be in store for regular run in center field against both righties and lefties after previously being limited to the strong side of a platoon.
Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak Return date unclear
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:36 PM
Moniak has been limited to rest and recovery since landing on the 10-day injured list May 22 due to right ankle tendinitis, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Though a recent MRI revealed no issues with Moniak's ankle beyond tendinitis, the outfielder looks like he'll have to wait a bit for the discomfort to subside before he resumes baseball activities. Moniak's recent move to the IL appears to have opened up a full-time role in the outfield for Tyler Freeman, who has started in 10 of the Rockies' last 11 games.
Victor Vodnik
Victor Vodnik Completes side session
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:31 PM
Vodnik (elbow) tossed a bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Vodnik hit 95 mph with his fastball during the workout, putting him a few ticks behind his season-long average of 98.8 mph. Even so, the side session represents an important step forward in the recovery process for Vodnik, who was placed on the 15-day injured list May 20 due to right ulnar nerve inflammation. He's slated to throw another side session early on during the upcoming week before advancing to facing hitters by the weekend.
Jordan Beck
Jordan Beck Starts up running program
Sun, May 31, 2026, 6:27 PM
Beck (hamstring) was able to begin a running progression this past week, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Beck was placed on the 10-day injured list May 18 due to a left hamstring injury, but the fact that he's running again likely indicates that he's working his way back from a low-grade strain. Once he's running the bases at full speed, Beck may need only a brief minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the IL.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Managing shoulder inflammation
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:38 PM
Rumfield was removed from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants due to right shoulder inflammation, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was scratched just before the start of Sunday's game, so it's unclear when exactly he picked up the injury. Rumfield should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Angels.
Sterlin Thompson
Sterlin Thompson Idle against lefty
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:19 PM
Thompson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Thompson will be held out of the starting nine for the third time in five games, with two of those absences coming against left-handed pitchers. Thompson has been seeing fairly steady playing time versus righties since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 22, but he hasn't made much of a case for maintaining a regular role moving forward. Through his first 30 big-league plate appearances, the 24-year-old has slashed .154/.267/.192 with one extra-base hit (a double), three RBI and one run.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Scratched from starting nine
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:15 PM
Rumfield was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants due to an unspecified reason.
Analysis: Initially slated to man first base and bat third, Rumfield was removed the starting nine just minutes prior to the game's 3:10 p.m. ET start time. Expect the Rockies to provide an explanation behind Rumfield's late scratch later Sunday. Willi Castro will wind up picking up the start at first base in place of the 26-year-old rookie.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Tallies third homer
Sun, May 31, 2026, 8:54 AM
Karros went 1-for-2 with a solo home run Saturday against the Giants.
Analysis: Karros was not in the starting lineup, but he pinch-hit for Sterlin Thompson in the seventh inning and went yard for his third home run of the season, and second in his last four games. Karros has struggled to a .208 batting average across 185 plate appearances, and his playing time has started to slip over the last three weeks.
Ryan Feltner
Ryan Feltner Returns with six-inning gem
Sat, May 30, 2026, 11:23 PM
Feltner (2-1) earned the win over San Francisco on Saturday, allowing four hits and striking out two batters without issuing a walk over six scoreless innings.
Analysis: Feltner recently spent time on the injured list due to an elbow injury, and Saturday was his first big-league start since April 23. He was held to 63 pitches in his return, but he nonetheless managed a quality start of six innings by being very efficient, tossing 41 of 63 pitches for strikes. Feltner hadn't completed six innings in any of his five starts before getting hurt, and Saturday was also the first time this season that he hasn't walked a batter. Feltner still has a poor 4.85 ERA overall, but he'll look to build on Saturday's outing in his next start, which is scheduled to be a home matchup against Milwaukee.
Tyler Freeman
Tyler Freeman Sitting Saturday
Sat, May 30, 2026, 6:24 PM
Freeman is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Giants on Saturday.
Analysis: Freeman is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-16 (.313) with two runs in that span. He'll be on the bench for the start of Saturday's contest while Hunter Goodman serves as the designated hitter and Brett Sullivan starts behind home plate for the Rockies.
Welinton Herrera
Welinton Herrera Battling elbow inflammation
Sat, May 30, 2026, 5:24 PM
The Rockies placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left elbow inflammation.
Analysis: Herrera pitched just one-third of an inning during his last outing Friday and seems to have picked up an elbow injury in the process. He'll remain on the shelf until at least June 14, and his place on the active roster will go to Ryan Feltner (elbow), who was reinstated from the IL to start Saturday's game against San Francisco.
