TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Managing shoulder inflammation
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:38 PM
Rumfield was removed from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants due to right shoulder inflammation, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was scratched just before the start of Sunday's game, so it's unclear when exactly he picked up the injury. Rumfield should be considered day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener against the Angels.
Sterlin Thompson
Sterlin Thompson Idle against lefty
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:19 PM
Thompson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Thompson will be held out of the starting nine for the third time in five games, with two of those absences coming against left-handed pitchers. Thompson has been seeing fairly steady playing time versus righties since being called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 22, but he hasn't made much of a case for maintaining a regular role moving forward. Through his first 30 big-league plate appearances, the 24-year-old has slashed .154/.267/.192 with one extra-base hit (a double), three RBI and one run.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Scratched from starting nine
Sun, May 31, 2026, 2:15 PM
Rumfield was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants due to an unspecified reason.
Analysis: Initially slated to man first base and bat third, Rumfield was removed the starting nine just minutes prior to the game's 3:10 p.m. ET start time. Expect the Rockies to provide an explanation behind Rumfield's late scratch later Sunday. Willi Castro will wind up picking up the start at first base in place of the 26-year-old rookie.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Tallies third homer
Sun, May 31, 2026, 8:54 AM
Karros went 1-for-2 with a solo home run Saturday against the Giants.
Analysis: Karros was not in the starting lineup, but he pinch-hit for Sterlin Thompson in the seventh inning. Karros went yard in that at-bat for his third home run of the season, and second in his last four games. He's struggled to a .208 average across 185 plate appearances, and his playing time has started to slip over the last three weeks.
Ryan Feltner
Ryan Feltner Returns with six-inning gem
Sat, May 30, 2026, 11:23 PM
Feltner (2-1) earned the win over San Francisco on Saturday, allowing four hits and striking out two batters without issuing a walk over six scoreless innings.
Analysis: Feltner recently spent time on the injured list due to an elbow injury, and Saturday was his first big-league start since April 23. He was held to 63 pitches in his return, but he nonetheless managed a quality start of six innings by being very efficient, tossing 41 of 63 pitches for strikes. Feltner hadn't completed six innings in any of his five starts before getting hurt, and Saturday was also the first time this season that he hasn't walked a batter. Feltner still has a poor 4.85 ERA overall, but he'll look to build on Saturday's outing in his next start, which is scheduled to be a home matchup against Milwaukee.
Tyler Freeman
Tyler Freeman Sitting Saturday
Sat, May 30, 2026, 6:24 PM
Freeman is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Giants on Saturday.
Analysis: Freeman is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-16 (.313) with two runs in that span. He'll be on the bench for the start of Saturday's contest while Hunter Goodman serves as the designated hitter and Brett Sullivan starts behind home plate for the Rockies.
Welinton Herrera
Welinton Herrera Battling elbow inflammation
Sat, May 30, 2026, 5:24 PM
The Rockies placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Saturday with left elbow inflammation.
Analysis: Herrera pitched just one-third of an inning during his last outing Friday and seems to have picked up an elbow injury in the process. He'll remain on the shelf until at least June 14, and his place on the active roster will go to Ryan Feltner (elbow), who was reinstated from the IL to start Saturday's game against San Francisco.
Ryan Feltner
Ryan Feltner Activated ahead of start
Sat, May 30, 2026, 5:20 PM
The Rockies reinstated Feltner (elbow) from the injured list ahead of his start Saturday against the Giants.
Analysis: Feltner will return to a big-league mound for the first time since landing on the injured list more than a month ago with right ulnar nerve inflammation. He made a pair of rehab starts before coming off the IL, allowing just one earned run while striking out nine batters in 8.2 total innings between Double-A and Triple-A. He'll now be tasked with limiting a surging Giants offense that's posted a .762 OPS over its last 10 games. Welinton Herrera (elbow) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.
Ryan Feltner
Ryan Feltner Set to return Saturday
Sat, May 30, 2026, 8:53 AM
Feltner (elbow) is expected to start Saturday's game against the Giants, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Feltner has been sidelined since April 24 but is ready to return after making two rehab appearances. He worked five innings in his last outing with Triple-A Albuquerque, so he should be able to handle a relatively normal workload. The Rockies will still need to activate Feltner before Saturday's contest to make the move official.
Edouard Julien
Edouard Julien Two straight starts
Sat, May 30, 2026, 8:45 AM
Julien went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Friday against the Giants.
Analysis: Julien had slipped into a reserve role in the last week, but he started his second consecutive game Friday. He helped the Rockies take a 1-0 lead in the second inning, reaching base on a single and then executing a double steal with Ezequiel Tovar. Julien is hitting only .204 across 155 plate appearances, and his playing time will likely slip further once Mickey Moniak (ankle) is able to return.
Tyler Freeman
Tyler Freeman Four-game hitting streak
Sat, May 30, 2026, 8:35 AM
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk Friday against the Giants.
Analysis: Freeman has gotten more consistent playing time with Mickey Moniak (ankle) sidelined, starting nine straight games. Freeman has hit .265 with two RBI and three runs scored in that span, and he's also in the midst of a four-game hitting streak. Freeman has occupied the second spot in the lineup in four of the last five contests, giving him some run-scoring upside if he continues to reach base at a strong clip.
Juan Mejia
Juan Mejia Struggles, still wins
Sat, May 30, 2026, 8:24 AM
Mejia (1-4) allowed two earned runs on three hits across one inning but still earned the win Friday against the Giants. He did not record a walk or a strikeout.
Analysis: Mejia was called upon to hold the Rockies' deficit to one run in the ninth inning, but he allowed four of the first six batters he faced to reach base. The offense bailed him out with a walk-off home run, but Mejia's recent struggles continued with the outing. He's allowed at least one earned run in three straight appearances, totaling five earned runs allowed across 2.2 innings. Mejia is still being used in high-leverage situations, though his potential share of save chances is murky.
Michael Lorenzen
Michael Lorenzen Goes 3.2 innings in no-decision
Fri, May 29, 2026, 11:20 PM
Lorenzen didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Giants, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts across 3.2 innings.
Analysis: Lorenzen made relatively quick work of the Giants in the first two innings, but the wheels began to fall off the second time through the lineup. He allowed four of the first six batters to reach base in the top of the fourth before being yanked after 70 pitches. Lorenzen was on the hook for a sixth straight loss before the Colorado offense put up five runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk it off. On the season, Lorenzen has an ugly 7.22 ERA and 43:20 K:BB across 57.1 innings.
Undergoing season-ending surgery
Fri, May 29, 2026, 6:00 PM
Holliday will undergo surgery for a stress fracture in his left foot and miss the rest of the 2026 season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Holliday underwent several examinations after being removed from Single-A Fresno's lineup last week due to a left foot injury. The injury is severe enough to require surgery and will sideline the 19-year-old prospect for the rest of the 2026 season. He'll end the season slashing .262/.395/.557 with one steal, two triples, nine home runs and 32 RBI across 152 plate appearances.
John Brebbia
John Brebbia Lands with Rox
Thu, May 28, 2026, 5:55 PM
Brebbia signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Thursday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Brebbia inked an NRI deal with Colorado in December but failed to make the team out of spring training and was let go by the club shortly before Opening Day. Now back with the Rockies, the 35-year-old righty will look to make it back to the majors with an organization that doesn't boast much in terms of bullpen depth, though he will likely need to improve upon his 6.20 Triple-A ERA before drawing consideration for a promotion.
Jeff Criswell
Jeff Criswell Back from IL, staying in minors
Thu, May 28, 2026, 5:45 PM
The Rockies reinstated Criswell (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Criswell has spent the entire season on the injured list while finishing up his recovery from a Tommy John procedure he underwent in March 2025. He's already made a handful of appearances in the minors while on a rehab assignment but has struggled to the tune of a 5.91 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 10.2 innings split between three affiliates. The Rockies will keep him in the minors for now, but now that he's back on the organization's 40-man roster, he's a likely candidate to return to the majors at some point once Colorado needs a fresh bullpen arm.
Jose Quintana
Jose Quintana Moves to 60-day IL
Thu, May 28, 2026, 5:37 PM
The Rockies transferred Quintana (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Quintana landed on the 15-day IL on Monday with a sprained left elbow. MRI results determined that the southpaw's injury isn't severe enough to require surgery, but he is still set to remain sidelined until at least July 24 now that he's on the 60-day list. His 40-man roster spot will be given to Jeff Criswell (elbow), who returned from the injured list Thursday and was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Tanner Gordon
Tanner Gordon Making another start
Thu, May 28, 2026, 2:15 PM
Gordon is slated to start Sunday against the Giants at Coors Field.
Analysis: Gordon will receive another turn through the Colorado rotation after he was able to hold his own in his first start of the season Monday in a road matchup with the Dodgers. He limited one of the majors' top offenses to one run on six hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings, taking a no-decision in the Rockies' eventual 5-3 loss. The 28-year-old righty owns a 6.78 ERA and 1.55 WHIP over 142 career innings in the big leagues, so despite getting a favorable matchup versus a weak Giants lineup in his second start, he'll be tough to trust at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
Zach Agnos
Zach Agnos Lit up in return to bullpen
Thu, May 28, 2026, 10:44 AM
Agnos surrendered seven earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one batter over two innings of relief Tuesday in the Rockies' 15-6 loss to the Dodgers.
Analysis: Fresh off tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk in his first MLB start May 21 in Arizona, Agnos shifted back to the bullpen this week, with the Rockies having Tanner Gordon replace him as their fifth starter. Despite being called upon in a low-pressure spot in the top of the fifth inning with the Rockies trailing by seven runs, Agnos did little to stop the bleeding. The gem of an outing against the Diamondbacks looks to be an extreme outlier performance for the 25-year-old righty, who now owns a 6.42 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 45 career appearances in the big leagues.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Resting Wednesday
Wed, May 27, 2026, 5:44 PM
Karros isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: Karros' three-run homer Tuesday extended his hitting streak to three games, but he'll grab a seat on the bench to begin Wednesday's series finale. Willi Castro will start at third base as a result, opening up second for Edouard Julien.
