Erik Sabrowski
Erik Sabrowski Returns in low-leverage spot
Sat, Jun 20, 2026, 8:48 AM
Sabrowski allowed two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one over a third of an inning in Friday's 9-3 loss to the Astros.
Analysis: Sabrowski entered in the eighth inning with the Guardians down 7-3. He's emerged as a trusted arm in high-leverage situations but was given a low-leverage spot in first appearance after coming off the injured list earlier Friday. When he went on the IL on May 20 with left elbow inflammation, Sabrowski had a 1.17 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 39 strikeouts and 13 walks over 21 innings.
Rhys Hoskins
Rhys Hoskins Homers in loss
Sat, Jun 20, 2026, 8:40 AM
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 9-3 loss to Houston.
Analysis: Hoskins helped the Guardians overcome an early deficit with a two-run home run as part of a three-run third inning. The homer was the seventh of the season and first in 11 games for Hoskins, who entered the contest having gone 3-for-26 with zero RBI and 15 strikeouts over the previous 10 games. For the season, he's slashing .179/.318/.370 over 214 plate appearances.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Suffers tough-luck loss
Fri, Jun 19, 2026, 10:14 PM
Bibee (2-8) took the loss against the Astros on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Analysis: Bibee entered the sixth inning with a 3-2 lead before allowing two baserunners and departing at 95 pitches. Unfortunately, he was charged with both runs and the loss after Matt Festa allowed a three-run homer in relief. It ended a stretch of three straight quality starts for the 27-year-old Bibee, though he still owns a solid 2.21 ERA through three June outings. He'll carry a 4.03 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 78:28 K:BB across 89.1 innings into a road matchup against the White Sox next week.
Will Dion
Will Dion Optioned to Columbus
Fri, Jun 19, 2026, 3:40 PM
Cleveland optioned Dion to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Dion will make his way back to Columbus after making just six appearances since having his contract selected May 25. With Cleveland, the 26-year-old recorded a 5.56 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 11.1 innings. Erik Sabrowski (elbow) will take Dion's spot on the active roster.
Erik Sabrowski
Erik Sabrowski Activated from injured list
Fri, Jun 19, 2026, 3:36 PM
The Guardians activated Sabrowski (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sabrowski was sidelined for just over three weeks with left elbow inflammation and will rejoin the club in Houston. Before landing on the IL, the 28-year-old was off to a terrific start, posting a 1.71 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 39:13 K:BB through 21 innings. Cleveland optioned Will Dion to Triple-A Columbus in order to make room for Sabrowski on the active roster.
David Fry
David Fry Moves to LF, homers in win
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 6:35 PM
Fry started in left field and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Brewers.
Analysis: Fry got Cleveland on the board in the third inning, when he tied the game with his fourth home run of the season. It was his first since May 4 and first RBI in 18 contests. Typically a lineup regular against left-handers, the right-handed batter could receive regular run against both lefties and righties due to injuries to outfield regulars, Chase DeLauter (ribs) and Angel Martinez (foot). Fry's started four consecutive games, the last three of which were the direct result of those injuries. Prior to Thursday, he defended right field, DeLauter's usual position. In irregular playing time this season, Fry is slashing .230/.347/.737 with four home runs and nine RBI over 45 games.
Travis Bazzana
Travis Bazzana Helps in win
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 6:15 PM
Bazzana went 1-for-3 with two walks and a solo home run in Thursday's 4-2 win over Milwaukee. He was also caught stealing.
Analysis: Bazzana's solo shot in the seventh gave the Guardians a 3-2 lead and prevented a three-game sweep by the Brewers. The home run was his fifth. It's been a while since Bazzana had a hand in victory. The rookie entered the game having gone 3-for-32 (.094) over the previous eight games and didn't drive in a run in the previous seven.
Cade Smith
Cade Smith Up to 24 saves
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 6:08 PM
Smith earned the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Brewers, working around a pair of walks while striking out two across 1.1 scoreless innings.
Analysis: After entering the game with two outs in the eighth inning, Smith issued a walk to load the bases before striking out Christian Yelich. He'd then turn in a scoreless ninth, earning his league-leading 24th save. Smith has now converted 21 straight save chances, allowing just four earned runs over 25 innings in that span. His ERA is down to 2.38 with a 1.06 WHIP and 51:8 K:BB across 34 innings this season.
Parker Messick
Parker Messick Strikes out nine in bounce-back win
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 6:00 PM
Messick (7-3) earned the win Thursday over the Brewers, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: It was a strong rebound performance from Messick, who had lost his previous two starts while allowing seven runs over 11.1 innings. The left-hander's ERA now sits at 2.70 through 15 starts (86.2 innings) this season with a 1.10 WHIP and 91:28 K:BB. Messick currently lines up to face the White Sox on the road in his next outing.
Patrick Bailey
Patrick Bailey Absent from lineup
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 10:56 AM
Bailey is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee.
Analysis: Bailey started Wednesday's night game at catcher, so he'll get a breather during Thursday's afternoon tilt. Austin Hedges will grab a start behind the dish as the Guardians look to avoid the sweep.
Steven Kwan
Steven Kwan Exiting starting lineup
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 10:52 AM
Kwan is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Kwan is slashing just .162/.284/.203 versus lefty pitchers this season, and this is the fifth time over the last seven contests that he's been out of the lineup against a southpaw (in this case, Shane Drohan). David Fry will handle left field and Stuart Fairchild will play center field for the Guardians.
David Fry
David Fry Works in right field again
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 7:40 AM
Fry started in right field and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 9-4 loss to Milwaukee.
Analysis: After the Guardians learned that Chase DeLauter (ribs) would be unable to play through his injury and added him to the 10-day injured list, Fry filled the spot in right field the last two games. It's unclear if that will be a long-term solution, however. Cleveland called up prospect Kahlil Watson on Wednesday, and he should be part of the mix. Besides now having Watson at his disposal, manager Stephen Vogt likes having Fry in a utility role.
Erik Sabrowski
Erik Sabrowski Begins rehab assignment
Thu, Jun 18, 2026, 7:30 AM
Sabrowski (elbow) allowed two unearned runs and one walk while striking out two over a hitless two-thirds of an inning for Double-A Akron on Wednesday.
Analysis: Sabrowski kicked off a rehab assignment with the RubberDucks, his first game action since landing on the 15-day injured list May 26 with inflammation in his left elbow. Before the game, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told Zach Sweet of MLB.com that the club will review how the left-hander comes through the appearance before determining next steps.
Daniel Espino
Daniel Espino Scoreless inning in MLB debut
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 10:33 PM
Espino pitched one inning with no earned runs and two strike outs against the Brewers on Wednesday.
Analysis: Espino came in to relieve Gavin Williams in the sixth inning and struck out Garrett Mitchell and Cooper Pratt. The once heralded prospect had a 5.30 ERA and a 29:15 K:BB in 22 appearances and 18.2 innings in Triple-A Columbus this season.
Daniel Schneemann
Daniel Schneemann Launches grand slam in loss
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 10:24 PM
Schneemann went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers.
Analysis: The Guardians' only runs of the game came off of Schneemann's moon shot to right field off of Brandon Sproat in the fourth. Schneemann started the game at third base, filling in for the injured Jose Ramirez (hand). The 29-year-old could be a candidate to fill in everyday for Ramirez, but he has been utilized all over the infield and outfield for Stephen Vogt's team this year so they value his versatility.
Gavin Williams
Gavin Williams Gives up two homers in loss
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 9:37 PM
Williams (9-4) picked up the loss against the Brewers Wednesday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings.
Analysis: Despite the longer rest because of the game postponement on Sunday, Williams served up his most earned runs in a start this season, leading to his first loss since May 10. This is Williams' third straight start in which the 26-year-old has not gotten to six innings, after getting to that mark in his last eight starts. Williams has also had problems with the long ball, giving up two more in this game after giving up two in each of his last two starts. The right-hander is scheduled to make his next start against the White Sox next week.
Rhys Hoskins
Rhys Hoskins Claiming sixth straight start
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 4:19 PM
Hoskins will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup Wednesday against the Brewers.
Analysis: Hoskins appeared to be stuck in the short side of a platoon with Kyle Manzardo to begin June, but the former will have a clearer path to an everyday role after the Guardians placed all of Jose Ramirez (hand), Chase DeLauter (rib) and Angel Martinez (foot) on the injured list within the past four days. The Guardians will include Hoskins in the lineup for a sixth straight game after he went 3-for-20 with two doubles and a run scored in his prior five starts.
Kahlil Watson
Kahlil Watson Receives first big-league call-up
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 3:56 PM
The Guardians recalled Watson from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
Analysis: He'll be joining the big club as a replacement on the active roster for outfielder Chase DeLauter (rib), who was sent to the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Watson has showed an intriguing power/speed skill set at Triple-A this season, slugging 12 home runs and stealing 14 bases while slashing .255/.370/.491 with a 14.9 percent walk rate and 28 percent strikeout rate across 254 plate appearances. Capable of playing all three outfield spots, Watson could fill one of the holes in the Cleveland lineup that have opened up with DeLauter, Jose Ramirez (hand) and Angel Martinez (foot) all landing on the IL within the last four days. The Guardians will keep the 23-year-old on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Brewers, however.
Chase DeLauter
Chase DeLauter Shelved with rib fracture
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 3:50 PM
The Guardians placed DeLauter (rib) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Since his IL stint is retroactive to Sunday, DeLauter will be eligible for activation June 24, but a return in the minimum amount of time could prove to be ambitious for the outfielder after an MRI on Tuesday revealed a small right side rib fracture in addition to bone bruising. Cleveland recalled Kahlil Watson from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move, but he'll be on the bench Wednesday against the Brewers while the Guardians go with Steven Kwan, Petey Halpin and David Fry as their starting outfielders. A clearer target date for DeLauter's return should emerge once he's able to resume full baseball activities.
Hunter Gaddis
Hunter Gaddis Tagged with loss in relief
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 8:10 AM
Gaddis (1-2) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Brewers after allowing a run and a hit over one inning of work. He didn't record a strikeout.
Analysis: Gaddis has been a reliable bullpen arm for the Guardians all season long, but he was tagged with the loss in this one after giving up the game-winning homer to Garrett Mitchell in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gaddis has allowed runs in two of hs last four outings, but he should remain a top setup option in Cleveland's bullpen. Over his last 13 appearances and 12.2 innings, Gaddis has a 1.42 ERA and 0.87 WHIP while recording eight holds and a save.
