Rhys Hoskins
Rhys Hoskins Idle Sunday
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 3:17 PM
Hoskins isn't in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Hoskins will sit down for a second consecutive game after going 3-for-6 with two walks and a run scored over the first two games of the series. Kyle Manzardo will start at first base while Hoskins sits, putting Jose Ramirez in the DH spot and Daniel Schneemann at third base.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Resumes throwing, may start Tuesday
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 8:35 AM
Bibee (shoulder) said that he felt good after completing a 26-pitch bullpen session Saturday, but the Guardians have yet to decide if he'll be ready to go for his next turn through the rotation Tuesday versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Bibee started Thursday's season-opening 6-4 win over the Mariners, going five innings and striking out seven while allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks in a no-decision. He was on track to remain in the game for the bottom of the sixth inning, but after throwing his final warmup pitch, Bibee motioned to the dugout and was removed from the contest after an evaluation from a trainer. He was later diagnosed with right shoulder inflammation, but the Guardians are optimistic that the injury is minor, and Bibee's ability to complete a weighted-ball workout Friday and throw a bullpen session Saturday seemingly supports that notion. Bibee noted that the Guardians will wait and see how he's feeling Sunday before deciding on his status for Tuesday's contest.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Enters franchise record book again
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:35 AM
Ramirez went 1-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle.
Analysis: Ramirez added his name to the franchise record book again. His sixth-inning double plated the Guardians' first run and was the 400th of his career, making him the third player in franchise history to amass that many doubles. In 2025, he set the franchise record for career extra-base hits and multi-home run games. Thus far in 2026, Ramirez is 2-for-14 with two doubles and three RBI over the first three games.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Makes debut in field
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:26 AM
Manzardo started a first base and went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Analysis: Manzardo served as the designated hitter for the first two games of the regular season before finally getting a chance to defend a position. The Guardians were hoping to give him more starts at first base this season, but for now he's sharing the position with Rhys Hoskins. Manzardo is 2-for-13 with eight strikeouts through three contests.
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez Makes season debut
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:19 AM
Martinez started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a double in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle.
Analysis: Martinez parlayed a productive spring (1.196 OPS) into an Opening Day roster spot but not a role as a lineup regular. The Guardians have a few outfield prospects on the roster, including the uber-hot Chase DeLauter (four HR), so Martinez may be limited to one or two starts per week. When prospect George Valera (calf) is ready to rejoin the team, that could further cap opportunities for Martinez or lead to a demotion to the minors.
David Fry
David Fry Catches in season debut
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:12 AM
Fry started at catcher and went 2-for-5 with a double in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Analysis: Fry made his season debut and caught a game for the first time since July of 2024. Recovery from elbow surgery in November of that year limited him to DH and pinch hitting duties last season. Now fully recovered, Fry can get behind the dish again along with fielding other positions with which he has experience. He's the third-string catcher behind Bo Naylor and Austin Hedges, who is day-to-day with a hand injury.
Chase DeLauter
Chase DeLauter Launches another long ball
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 2:09 AM
DeLauter went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners on Saturday.
Analysis: DeLauter looked like he could be stymied for the first time this season when he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts over his first four plate appearances. However, the eye-opening rookie saved his best for last, belting a two-run homer off All-Star reliever Andres Munoz in the 10th inning for what ended up being the decisive hit. DeLauter has now homered in the first three regular-season games of his career, and he's the early league leader with four home runs to go along with his .357/.357/1.214 slash line.
Hunter Gaddis
Hunter Gaddis Scoreless frame in rehab outing
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 7:44 PM
Gaddis (forearm) allowed one walk while striking out one batter in a scoreless inning in his rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Gaddis opened the regular season on the 15-day injured list due to a right forearm strain that cropped up in early March. He got some games under his belt toward the tail end of spring training, and the 27-year-old right-hander could be back in the majors by mid-April depending on how his rehab assignment goes. Across 73 regular-season games in 2025, Gaddis posted a 3.11 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, three saves (in seven attempts) and a 73:21 K:BB across 66.2 innings.
Gabriel Arias
Gabriel Arias Getting rest Saturday
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 5:56 PM
Arias isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Seattle.
Analysis: Arias has gone 1-for-7 with three strikeouts through the first two games of the season and will step out of the lineup for the third game of Cleveland's four-game set against the M's. Brayan Rocchio will slide over to shortstop while Daniel Schneemann mans the keystone.
Rhys Hoskins
Rhys Hoskins Sitting down Saturday
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 5:50 PM
Hoskins isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Seattle.
Analysis: Hoskins will get a chance to catch his breath after going 3-for-6 with a run scored and a pair of walks over the first two games of the season. His absence will put Kyle Manzardo at first base and open a spot in the lineup for Angel Martinez to start in left field.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Absent from lineup
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 5:47 PM
Naylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Naylor will sit down for the third game of the series after going 1-for-8 with a walk across the first two contests. David Fry will pick up a start behind the plate in Naylor's stead and bat fifth.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Serves as DH again
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 8:18 AM
Manzardo started as the designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Manzardo has been stuck at DH the first two games of the season, with both starts coming against right-handed pitchers. The right-handed-hitting Rhys Hoskins started at first in both games. There was some thought that Manzardo would see more time at first base this season with Carlos Santana no longer on the team, but those plans apparently changed when the Guardians signed Hoskins after spring training started.
Steven Kwan
Steven Kwan Gets first start in center field
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 8:11 AM
Kwan started in center field and went 2-for-4 in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Kwan made his first start of the regular season in center field after being exposed to the new position during spring training. His move to center cleared the way for prospect CJ Kayfus to operate in left field.
Gavin Williams
Gavin Williams Explains wild start
Sat, Mar 28, 2026, 8:07 AM
Williams explained the wildness he experienced in Friday's start when he walked six batters over five innings in a loss to Seattle, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Williams said he was out of sync with his front foot too quick to the ground before his upper body was ready to deliver the ball.
Analysis: The mechanical issue caused him to over-rotate and pull some pitches, and his attempts to overcorrect caused more wayward offerings. The right-hander managed to control his walks over the second half of 2025 -- 5.3 BB/9 prior to All-Star break and 3.3 post-break -- and did a fine job this spring (two walks in 17.2 innings). Williams will look to correct the issue leading up to his next schedule start Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Logan Allen
Logan Allen May be needed by Cleveland
Fri, Mar 27, 2026, 7:32 PM
Allen could be called up if Tanner Bibee (shoulder) needs to skip a start or eventually lands on the injured list, Cade Cracas of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Bibee was removed from his start Thursday due to shoulder inflammation, which at this point is deemed to be minor. The Guardians don't have any rest days between now and when Bibee is next scheduled to pitch, so Allen may be on standby at Triple-A Columbus. If Cleveland wants to play it safe with the Bibee and place him on the injured list, then Allen would have an opportunity for two or more starts.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Shoulder issue thought to be minor
Fri, Mar 27, 2026, 8:57 AM
The Guardians believe Bibee's right shoulder injury isn't serious, but he'll be re-evaluated Friday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Bibee was forced to depart Thursday's start in Seattle due to right shoulder inflammation that he felt while warming up prior to the bottom of the sixth inning. Even if the injury is as minor as the Guardians suspect, there's a good chance the right-hander's next start will be pushed back or skipped. Logan Allen is a likely candidate to fill in, if needed.
Brayan Rocchio
Brayan Rocchio Delivers two runs in win
Fri, Mar 27, 2026, 6:17 AM
Rocchio batted ninth and went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Mariners. He was also hit by a pitch.
Analysis: As expected, Rocchio was the Opening Day starter at second base, but less expected was his offensive impact. The light-hitting infielder is expected to be a lineup regular at second base, and Rocchio could quiet the calls for a quick promotion for Travis Bazzana, the team's first-round pick in 2024, if he can maintain a productive bat.
Daniel Schneemann
Daniel Schneemann In Opening Day lineup
Fri, Mar 27, 2026, 6:08 AM
Schneemann started in center field and went 1-for-2 with a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 win over Seattle.
Analysis: Schneemann, a utility infielder that has added outfield to his resume since arriving in the majors in 2024, was a mildly surprising addition to the Opening Day lineup over Angel Martinez and prospect CJ Kayfus. Any of the three would have had a platoon advantage against Seattle righty Logan Gilbert, as Kayfus and Schneemann hit left-handed and Martinez is a switch hitter. A report from the National Daily indicates manager Stephen Vogt used Schneemann because of his experience and the matchup against the pitcher. However, Schneemann entered the game hitless over three career at-bats against Gilbert. Given the hot spring Martinez turned in and the fact that Steven Kwan saw time in center field often during spring training, Schneemann is not expected to be close to an everyday player there.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Exits with training staff
Thu, Mar 26, 2026, 11:02 PM
Bibee exited Thursday's start against the Mariners ahead of the bottom of the sixth inning after suffering an apparent injury, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Bibee finished throwing his warmup pitches between innings and winced in discomfort before ultimately walking off with the training staff. Prior to leaving, Bibee allowed three runs on four hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out seven and surrendered a trio of solo home runs on 78 pitches. The Guardians should provide an update over the next 24 hours.
CJ Kayfus
CJ Kayfus Not in Thursday's lineup
Thu, Mar 26, 2026, 5:10 PM
Kayfus isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Kayfus began making starts in the outfield and at first base for the Guardians toward the end of last year, but he will stay put on the bench to begin Cleveland's season opener. Steven Kwan, Daniel Schneemann and Chase DeLauter will start across the outfield Thursday, and Rhys Hoskins will get the nod at first base.
