Daniel Schneemann
Daniel Schneemann Logs key hit in win
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 8:25 AM
Schneemann started in center field and went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: Schneemann's two-out, two-run double in the seventh inning increased Cleveland's lead to 4-0, and it proved to be key, as Los Angeles plated a pair of runs in the ninth. He's found himself in the starting lineup four times through the first five games -- twice in center field and once each at second and third base. Schneemann's versatility is his main fantasy value -- he batted just .206 over 379 at-bats in 2025 -- but he did have a fantasy-friendly 12 home runs and nine steals last year.
Austin Hedges
Austin Hedges Contributes to win
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 8:18 AM
Hedges went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Monday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: Hedges doubled to lead off the third inning and scored the Guardians' first run, and then singled to open the seventh and score the team's second run. This was Hedges' season debut after dealing with a hand injury that cropped up toward the end of spring training. He'll operate as the primary backup at catcher to Bo Naylor.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Cleared to start Tuesday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 6:27 PM
Bibee (shoulder) will start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Bibee gave the Guardians a scare after he exited his first start of the campaign Thursday against Seattle with right shoulder inflammation, but the injury turned out to be a minor setback. The 27-year-old made it through a 26-pitch side session Saturday without issue, and the club has officially given him the green light to toe the rubber for Tuesday's matchup.
Colin Holderman
Colin Holderman Sent down to Triple-A
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 5:22 PM
The Guardians optioned Holderman to Triple-A Columbus on Monday.
Analysis: Holderman made the Guardians' Opening Day roster but struggled across his first two outings, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out three across three innings. He'll move down to Triple-A to work on his control but would be a top candidate to return to the majors if Cleveland needs an additional right-hander out of the bullpen. In corresponding moves, Doug Nikhazy was designated for assignment and Kolby Allard had his contract selected by the Guardians from Triple-A Columbus.
Doug Nikhazy
Doug Nikhazy DFA'd by Cleveland
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 5:18 PM
The Guardians designated Nikhazy for assignment Monday.
Analysis: The move opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Kolby Allard, whose contract was selected by the Guardians from Triple-A Columbus. Nikhazy opened the season in Triple-A after being optioned in early March, but he'll likely stay in the organization given that he has two minor-league options left, assuming he clears waivers.
Kolby Allard
Kolby Allard Called up to majors
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 5:12 PM
The Guardians selected Allard's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Monday.
Analysis: Allard inked a minor-league deal with the Guardians in early February and opened the regular season in Triple-A, but the 28-year-old southpaw will get an early call up to the majors. He appeared in 33 regular-season games for the Guardians (two starts) in 2025 and postd a 2.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, three holds and a 42:14 K:BB across 65 innings. To make room on the roster for Allard, Cleveland optioned Colin Holderman to Columbus and designated Doug Nikhazy for assignment.
CJ Kayfus
CJ Kayfus Idle Monday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 5:04 PM
Kayfus is not in the Guardians' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Monday.
Analysis: Kayfus will take a seat for Monday's series opener while the Guardians roll with Steven Kwan, Daniel Schneemann and Angel Martinez in the outfield from left to right. Kayfus went 0-for-8 with two walks, one run and four strikeouts across three games against the Mariners this past week. He also struggled in his start in left field Sunday, which could limit the amount of at-bats he sees until he shores up that part of his game.
Rhys Hoskins
Rhys Hoskins Sitting again Monday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 5:00 PM
Hoskins is not in the Guardians' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Monday.
Analysis: Hoskins opened the regular season strongly, going 3-for-3 with one double and one run scored against the Mariners on Thursday before following that up with an 0-for-3 performance with two strikeouts Friday. He will not be in the Guardians' lineup for a third consecutive game, with Kyle Manzardo starting at first base while Chase DeLauter serves as the designated hitter for Monday's series opener.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Sitting Monday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 4:57 PM
Naylor is not in the Guardians' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Monday.
Analysis: Naylor will sit for the series opener while Austin Hedges (hand) serves as the Guardians' backstop and bats eighth. Naylor started in three of four games against Seattle and went 1-for-11 with one walk and four strikeouts.
Austin Hedges
Austin Hedges Back in lineup Monday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 4:53 PM
Hedges (hand) will start at catcher and bat eighth against the Dodgers on Monday.
Analysis: Hedges sustained a hand injury toward the tail end of spring training, though X-rays came back negative. He's been cleared to make his 2026 regular-season debut Monday, allowing Bo Naylor to take a breather after the former started in three of four games in the Guardians' opening series against the Mariners. Hedges appeared in 70 regular-season games for Cleveland in 2025 and slashed .161/.250/.277 with one steal, five home runs and 10 RBI in 180 plate appearances.
Slade Cecconi
Slade Cecconi Velocity down Sunday
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 6:54 AM
Cecconi said Sunday that he woke up feeling under the weather, which resulted in diminished velocity, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sunday's results were discouraging after Cecconi's preseason work suggested a pitcher about to take the next level. "I gave everything I had. Just all my velocities were down," Cecconi said. "Still, I think I executed pretty well. I think they got a few runs on some executed pitches and a few that weren't." His four-seamer averaged 92.3 mph, down two ticks from 94.3 it registered in 2025. In addition to reduced velocity, the right-hander also walked three and hit two batters. Cecconi will look to rebound this coming weekend against the Cubs.
CJ Kayfus
CJ Kayfus Has issues in left field
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 6:34 AM
Kayfus started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Sunday's 8-0 loss to the Mariners. He was also hit by a pitch.
Analysis: Kayfus made his second career big-league start in left field and it showed on a couple of balls that led to Seattle rallies. Both were hit by lefties that have strong pull tendencies, and Kayfus had to range far from the gap in left-center to make the plays but couldn't. "He was in the right position," manager Stephen Vogt said of Kayfus to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. "They had a couple of balls that found the line. It's a relatively new position for CJ. A couple of unfortunate plays that went their way. They made us pay for them." It was the first instance of Vogt's decision to have four-time Gold Glove winning left fielder Steven Kwan play center field. The position switch was designed to inject more offensive punch into the lineup at the outfield corners. One unfortunate night may not impact Vogt's decision, but continued issues in left field could result in a reduction of playing time for Kayfus.
Slade Cecconi
Slade Cecconi Struggles in season debut
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 10:26 PM
Cecconi (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Mariners, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The right-hander managed to make it through three scoreless innings to begin his outing, but the Mariners throttled him for six runs across the fourth and fifth frames. Three of the hits allowed went for extra bases, though Cecconi was at least able to stretch out to 93 pitches in his first start of the campaign. Cecconi has a difficult assignment slated for next weekend versus the Cubs, which might limit his streaming appeal.
Rhys Hoskins
Rhys Hoskins Idle Sunday
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 3:17 PM
Hoskins isn't in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Analysis: Hoskins will sit down for a second consecutive game after going 3-for-6 with two walks and a run scored over the first two games of the series. Kyle Manzardo will start at first base while Hoskins sits, putting Jose Ramirez in the DH spot and Daniel Schneemann at third base.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Resumes throwing, may start Tuesday
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 8:35 AM
Bibee (shoulder) said that he felt good after completing a 26-pitch bullpen session Saturday, but the Guardians have yet to decide if he'll be ready to go for his next turn through the rotation Tuesday versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Bibee started Thursday's season-opening 6-4 win over the Mariners, going five innings and striking out seven while allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks in a no-decision. He was on track to remain in the game for the bottom of the sixth inning, but after throwing his final warmup pitch, Bibee motioned to the dugout and was removed from the contest after an evaluation from a trainer. He was later diagnosed with right shoulder inflammation, but the Guardians are optimistic that the injury is minor, and Bibee's ability to complete a weighted-ball workout Friday and throw a bullpen session Saturday seemingly supports that notion. Bibee noted that the Guardians will wait and see how he's feeling Sunday before deciding on his status for Tuesday's contest.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Enters franchise record book again
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:35 AM
Ramirez went 1-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle.
Analysis: Ramirez added his name to the franchise record book again. His sixth-inning double plated the Guardians' first run and was the 400th of his career, making him the third player in franchise history to amass that many doubles. In 2025, he set the franchise record for career extra-base hits and multi-home run games. Thus far in 2026, Ramirez is 2-for-14 with two doubles and three RBI over the first three games.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Makes debut in field
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:26 AM
Manzardo started a first base and went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Analysis: Manzardo served as the designated hitter for the first two games of the season before finally getting a chance to play some defense. The Guardians initially planned to give him more starts at first base this season, but for now he's sharing the position with Rhys Hoskins. Manzardo is 2-for-13 with eight strikeouts through three contests.
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez Makes season debut
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:19 AM
Martinez started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a double in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over Seattle.
Analysis: Martinez parlayed a productive spring (1.196 OPS) into an Opening Day roster spot but not a role as a lineup regular. The Guardians have a few outfield prospects on the roster, including the red-hot Chase DeLauter (four HR), so Martinez may be limited to one or two starts per week. When George Valera (calf) is ready to rejoin the team, that could further cap opportunities for Martinez, or even lead to a demotion to the minors.
David Fry
David Fry Catches in season debut
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 7:12 AM
Fry started at catcher and went 2-for-5 with a double in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Analysis: Fry made his season debut and caught a game for the first time since July of 2024, as he was limited to DH and pinch hitting duties last season while completing his recovery from elbow surgery. Now fully healthy, Fry can get behind the dish again along with his other utility duties. He's the third-string catcher behind Bo Naylor and Austin Hedges, who is day-to-day with a hand injury.
Chase DeLauter
Chase DeLauter Launches another long ball
Sun, Mar 29, 2026, 2:09 AM
DeLauter went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Mariners on Saturday.
Analysis: DeLauter looked like he could be stymied for the first time this season when he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts over his first four plate appearances. However, the rookie saved his best for last, belting a two-run homer off All-Star reliever Andres Munoz in the 10th inning for what ended up being the decisive hit. DeLauter has now homered in the first three regular-season games of his career, and he's the early league leader with four home runs to go along with a gaudy .357/.357/1.214 slash line.
