Nick Lodolo
Nick Lodolo Routed by Mets
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 4:47 PM
Lodolo (2-2) took the loss Wednesday, coughing up seven runs on 11 hits and two walks over 4.2 innings as the Reds were routed 9-1 by the Mets. He struck out two.
Analysis: The southpaw escaped potential trouble in the first two innings thanks to double plays, but Lodolo's luck began to run out in the third as New York strung together three straight two-out RBI singles. He finally got the hook after 90 pitches (54 strikes), with the only silver lining on Lodolo's performance being that he didn't serve up a homer for only the second time in eight starts this season. The 28-year-old has been unable to find any sort of rhythm since missing the first six weeks of the campaign with blister issues, and he'll carry a 6.12 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 32:17 K:BB through 42.2 innings into his next outing, which is set to come at home early next week against the Brewers.
Blake Dunn
Blake Dunn Heading to bench Wednesday
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 9:48 AM
Dunn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: Dunn has hit a bit of a lull at the plate, slashing just .125/.222/.188 with one double, two walks, one steal and two RBI over his last four games. The Reds likely aren't ready to pull the plug on Dunn as an everyday player, but he could end up becoming an odd man out of the lineup more frequently if Cincinnati wants to open up more playing time Edwin Arroyo or Noelvi Marte. Arroyo will replace Dunn as the Reds' leadoff man Wednesday after batting ninth in his previous three starts.
Tyler Stephenson
Tyler Stephenson Receiving rest for day game
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 9:43 AM
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: After going 1-for-3 at the dish while catching nine innings of the Reds' 5-3 win Tuesday night, Stephenson will receive a breather for Wednesday's day game. Jose Trevino will check in for Stephenson behind the plate and will bat eighth.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan Ramping up activity
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 5:01 AM
Pagan (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and is scheduled to pitch in a simulated game/live batting practice session at Yankee Stadium on Friday, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Pagan, who threw a bullpen session over the weekend, has stacked up a few sessions and is moving on to live batting practice. The next step for the Reds' closer will be a rehab assignment. Pagan could rejoin the team by the end of June.
Pierce Johnson
Pierce Johnson Beginning rehab assignment Thursday
Wed, Jun 17, 2026, 4:50 AM
Johnson (elbow) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson threw a simulated game/live batting practice session Monday and is ready for the next step. The reliever isn't expected to need much time in the minors and could be activated Friday.
Elly De La Cruz
Elly De La Cruz Ramping up recovery work
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 2:17 PM
De La Cruz (hamstring) is scheduled to begin running Tuesday and Wednesday, and will begin his rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Gwinnett, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After landing on the injured list June 1, De La Cruz is slated to begin physical activities Tuesday. The 24-year-old is supposed to begin his rehab assignment with five innings of action Friday, a start at DH on Saturday and taking the field at shortstop on Sunday for the Triple-A team. With De La Cruz's hamstring nearly 90 percent healed, the shortstop is much closer to joining the big-league club.
Sal Stewart
Sal Stewart Logs 11th steal in win
Tue, Jun 16, 2026, 6:42 AM
Stewart went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 12-0 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Stewart reached base via a walk in the first inning and stole a base before scoring on Eugenio Suarez's three-run home run. For Stewart, the steal was his 11th of the season and first in 25 games. He doesn't look the part of a base stealer, but the corner infielder has been successful on 11 of 13 attempts this season and has double-digit steals every year since 2023.
Chase Burns
Chase Burns Fans seven in eighth win
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 11:23 PM
Burns (8-1) earned the win Monday against the Mets, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out seven over five scoreless innings.
Analysis: Burns continued his remarkable campaign Monday, throwing 64 of his 100 pitches for strikes while racking up 19 whiffs. The right-hander was electric from the start, striking out six of the first eight batters he faced. He ran into trouble in both the fourth and fifth innings but escaped bases-loaded jams each time to preserve the shutout. Burns has now held opponents to two runs or fewer in 13 of his 14 starts this season and has recorded at least seven strikeouts in 11 of them. The 23-year-old now owns a stellar 2.01 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 95:26 K:BB across 80.2 innings. He slated to face the Yankees on the road in his next start.
Elly De La Cruz
Elly De La Cruz Nearing rehab assignment
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 2:20 PM
De La Cruz (hamstring) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment this weekend at a yet-to-be-determined affiliate, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Reds plan to have De La Cruz test his strained right hamstring by running the bases Monday and Tuesday, and if all goes well, the 24-year-old will join a minor-league affiliate for what would presumably be a short rehab stint before he returns to the big club next week. While De La Cruz has been shelved, Matt McLain has taken over as the Reds' primary shortstop, which has cleared the way for Edwin Arroyo and Spencer Steer to pick up more reps at second base.
Nathaniel Lowe
Nathaniel Lowe Left out of starting nine
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:47 PM
Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: The Reds will give Lowe a breather after he started six of the team's last seven games while going 6-for-15 with six walks and a run. Spencer Steer will step in for Lowe at first base and will bat cleanup.
Pierce Johnson
Pierce Johnson Facing hitters Monday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:28 PM
Johnson (elbow) is scheduled to face live hitters in a simulated game or batting practice Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Johnson has spent just over the minimum amount of time on the 15-day injured list after being deactivated May 30 due to right elbow inflammation, so if he fares well in Monday's live session, he could bypass a rehab assignment and rejoin the Cincinnati bullpen later this week. The right-hander has been a key high-leverage arm for the Reds this season, notching two wins, four holds and one save while pitching to a 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 22 innings.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan Increasing activity
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 8:26 AM
Pagan (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Saturday and is expected to throw another Monday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: If Pagan comes out of Monday's session without incident, then he could face live hitters as soon as Friday. A separate report on MLB.com indicates the reliever will throw a simulated game/live BP on Tuesday. However the schedule shakes out, Pagan is ramping up activity and could be back with the Reds before the end of June.
Sam Haggerty
Sam Haggerty Joins Reds on MiLB pact
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 8:11 AM
Haggerty signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Sunday.
Analysis: The Reds assigned Haggerty to Triple-A Louisville, where he'll help restore some outfield depth after Noelvi Marte was recently promoted to the majors. Before being released by Texas on June 7, Haggerty struggled to a .159/.213/.182 slash line over 47 plate appearances with the big club while being deployed mostly as a short-side platoon player.
Noelvi Marte
Noelvi Marte Homers again Sunday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 7:57 AM
Marte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Marte tied the game in the sixth inning with a 448-foot blast of Zac Gallen, his third homer of the year, all of which have come in his last three games. The 24-year-old Marte has seen steady playing time in the outfield since returning to the majors earlier this month. He's gone 8-for-26 (.308) with a 1.049 OPS in nine games since his recall after slashing just .138/.194/.138 across 11 contests earlier in the season. One major difference between how Marte is hitting now compared to earlier this season is that he's not chasing balls outside the zone, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. During his initial stint, he had 10 strikeouts over 31 plate appearances compared to just five in 28 PAs since his recall.
Andrew Abbott
Andrew Abbott Solid in no-decision
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 5:09 PM
Abbott did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing a run on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: Abbott was sharp Sunday, with the lone run he allowed coming on a Tommy Troy solo homer in the third inning. Abbott's held opponents to three runs or fewer while going at least five innings in each of his last nine starts, posting a 2.29 ERA in that span (51 innings). Overall, Abbott's ERA is down to 3.95 with a 1.41 WHIP and 58:36 K:BB across 15 starts (79.2 innings) this season. The southpaw is currently lined up to face the Yankees on the road in his next outing.
Tyler Stephenson
Tyler Stephenson Getting Sunday off
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 11:12 AM
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Stephenson started the first two games of the series and will take a seat for the finale after going 0-for-6 with five strikeouts. Jose Trevino (hamstring) is starting behind the plate in his return from the injured list Sunday.
Spencer Steer
Spencer Steer Not in Sunday's lineup
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 11:06 AM
Steer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Analysis: Steer started the past four games and went 1-for-16 with a homer during that stretch, and his struggles extend beyond that with just one hit in his last eight contests. Noelvi Marte is picking up a start in right field for the series finale versus Arizona.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan Ready to throw live BP
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 10:05 AM
Pagan (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Per MLB.com, Pagan had already tossed a pair of bullpen sessions this past week, but he'll take the next step forward in his rehab program by throwing off a mound Friday with a live hitter tracking his pitches. If all goes well during Friday's workout, Pagan could be cleared to head out on a rehab assignment shortly thereafter. Pagan has been on the shelf since May 6 due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain but should have a good chance at reclaiming the closer's role once activated, assuming his rehab assignment proceeds smoothly.
Hunter Greene
Hunter Greene Starting rehab assignment Thursday
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 9:59 AM
Greene (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment Thursday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: On the shelf all season while recovering from a March 11 surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, Greene has now been cleared for the final step of his rehab program after completing a series of bullpen sessions and live throwing sessions over the past few weeks. Since he's been conducting his rehab program in Arizona, he'll remain there for his first minor-league outing but should eventually shift his assignment to one of the Reds' higher-level affiliates. Due to the length of his absence, Greene could need most of his 30-day rehab window to get fully stretched out, though manager Terry Francona said earlier this month that the right-hander is expected to return from the 60-day injured list at some point prior to the All-Star break in mid-July.
P.J. Higgins
P.J. Higgins Sent back to Louisville
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 9:17 AM
The Reds optioned Higgins to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Analysis: With backup catcher Jose Trevino (hamstring) returning from the injured list, Higgins was no longer needed as a depth option behind top backstop Tyler Stephenson. Following his May 17 promotion from Louisville, Higgins saw action in just eight games for the Reds and slashed .250/.294/.313 with three RBI and one run across 20 plate appearances.
