Hunter Greene
Hunter Greene On track to start this weekend
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 6:03 AM
Greene (elbow) rejoined the Reds for the beginning of the team's road trip in Milwaukee on Monday and said that he expects to return from the 60-day injured list to start either Friday or Saturday versus the Orioles in Cincinnati, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: While Greene won't be activated until later this week, his rehab assignment has officially come to an end. Greene, who had surgery March 11 to remove bone chips from his right elbow, looked dominant over his three rehab starts (two at Triple-A Louisville, one in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League). During his final outing with Louisville on Sunday, Greene struck out four and allowed just one baserunner over 6.1 innings while building his pitch count up to 82, so he should be ready to handle a typical starter's workload in his 2026 Reds debut. Cincinnati is listing Brady Singer as its probable starter for Friday, so Greene appears to be trending toward pitching Saturday.
TJ Friedl
TJ Friedl Enters for injured teammate
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 5:56 AM
Friedl entered Monday's game to play center field after Dane Myers (shoulder) was removed in the fourth inning. The former went 0-for-2 in a 5-3 loss to the Brewers.
Analysis: With a lefty on the mound for Milwaukee, Friedl opened the game on the bench. The Reds have lost two center fielders over the last several days with with Myers joining Blake Dunn (elbow, IL) as unavailable. Friedl was called up Sunday in the wake of Dunn's injury -- he went 0-for-4 in that day's game -- and will operate as the primary center fielder for now while the club gets a better read on Myers' status.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Sent to hospital for evaluation
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 10:12 PM
Myers was sent to the hospital for further evaluation after exiting Monday's game against Milwaukee on a cart, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Manager Terry Francona noted after the game that Myers, who was forced to depart the series opener after crashing hard into the wall in center field, was in a significant amount of pain, so the team sent him to the hospital to get checked out. Francona also stated that X-rays at the stadium returned negative, but he failed to provide further detail. The club should have more clarity on the 30-year-old's availability going forward within the next few days.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Exits early Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 7:52 PM
Myers was carted off the field during the bottom of the fourth inning of Monday's game against the Brewers after crashing into the outfield fence, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Myers made a spectacular catch on a line drive out to the warning track, but he collided with the wall after securing the baseball and was unable to leave the field under his own power. The nature of Myers' injury is unclear at this time. TJ Friedl was deployed in center field following Myers' departure.
TJ Friedl
TJ Friedl Hitting bench with lefty starting
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 5:58 PM
Friedl is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: After being called up from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday in the wake of Blake Dunn's (elbow) placement on the injured list, Friedl started in center field in the Reds' 9-4 loss to the Pirates, going 0-for-4 in his first appearance for the big club since June 2. Though he'll take a seat Monday while southpaw Robert Gasser toes the rubber for the Brewers, Friedl could occupy the large side of a platoon in center with Dane Myers until Dunn is back from the IL.
Nathaniel Lowe
Nathaniel Lowe Ducking out of lineup Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 5:56 PM
Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Lowe will head to the bench for the series opener in Milwaukee while southpaw Robert Gasser toes the rubber for the Brewers. Lowe will cede first base to Spencer Steer, who will bat third.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan Set to regain closer role
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 5:26 PM
Reds manager Terry Francona said Monday that Pagan (hamstring) will be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday and is set to regain his role as the team's closer, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Pagan likely would have been reinserted into the ninth inning even before Tony Santillan (oblique) landed on the shelf last week, but the Santillan injury seemingly cinched things. Out since early May with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Pagan logged two scoreless rehab appearances with Triple-A Louisville. He'll get a day of rest Monday before being activated Tuesday, Francona said in an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez Held out of lineup Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 3:22 PM
Suarez (wrist) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Suarez went 0-for-2 before exiting Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates after being hit in the left wrist by a pitch in the sixth inning. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Suarez said that X-rays and a CT scan on his wrist both returned negative, leaving him optimistic that he'll be "ready to go" for the Reds' four-game set in Milwaukee. The Reds will keep him on the bench for the series opener, however, as Elly De La Cruz gets a night off from playing shortstop while he manages a sprained ankle but sticks in the starting nine at Suarez's usual spot at designated hitter.
Elly De La Cruz
Elly De La Cruz In lineup at DH on Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 3:15 PM
De La Cruz (ankle) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: De La Cruz appeared to twist an ankle while running out of the batter's box during a fifth-inning plate appearance in Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates, though he was able to stay in the game after being checked out by a trainer. Manager Terry Francona indicated after the game that De La Cruz's availability for the start of the Reds' four-game series in Milwaukee was in some question, but the 24-year-old apparently made enough progress overnight for the club to feel comfortable with including him in the lineup Monday. De La Cruz will still get a day off from playing defense in an effort to limit the strain on his ankle, clearing the way for Matt McLain to pick up a start at shortstop.
Ke'Bryan Hayes
Ke'Bryan Hayes Closing in on facing pitchers
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 12:14 PM
Manager Terry Francona said that Hayes (back) will face live pitching at the Reds' facility in Arizona on Wednesday or Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Hayes is on the mend from a lumbar bulging disk, but if his back presents no issues for him during his upcoming hitting session, he could be cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 29-year-old has been on the shelf since May 22 with the injury, so he could need more than a handful of minor-league games to stockpile at-bats and get his timing back at the plate before the Reds activate him.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan On track to return this week
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 12:07 PM
Pagan (hamstring) is likely to return from the 15-day injured list this week after tossing scoreless innings in a pair of rehab appearances with Triple-A Louisville over the weekend, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Pagan needed just six pitches to retire the side in his first outing with Louisville on Friday. He then faced the minimum in his second appearance Sunday erasing a leadoff single with a double-play groundout before inducing a lineout to end the frame. Since he threw just nine pitches Sunday, the Reds could be comfortable activating him from the IL ahead of Monday's series opener in Milwaukee, though it wouldn't be surprising if he was given a day to rest before being reinstated Tuesday. Whenever he's added back to the active roster, Pagan should reclaim closing duties for the Reds after converting six of nine save chances before hitting the IL on May 6 due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.
Hunter Greene
Hunter Greene Dazzles in 82-pitch rehab start
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 11:58 AM
Greene (elbow) struck out four and allowed one hit and no walks over 6.1 scoreless innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville.
Analysis: In what was likely the third and final start of his rehab assignment, Greene answered any questions about his readiness to join the big-league rotation. During Sunday's outing, the 26-year-old righty averaged 98.8 mph with his four-seam fastball -- just under a tick below his average with the Reds from the 2025 season -- and racked up 12 swinging strikes on 82 pitches (54 strikes). Assuming he checks out fine following his next bullpen session, Greene will likely come off the 60-day injured list to make his 2026 Reds debut during this weekend's series with the Orioles in Cincinnati. Greene was placed on the shelf coming out of spring training after he underwent arthroscopic surgery March 11 to remove bone chips from his right elbow.
Brady Singer
Brady Singer Falls to Pirates
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 6:31 PM
Singer (3-7) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, allowing five runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: Four of the runs charged to Singer came in the second inning, when Pittsburgh led off the frame with four consecutive hits, capped by a Tyler Callihan two-run homer. Coming into the day, Singer had pitched to a 2.33 ERA across 27 innings in his previous five outings. Overall, his ERA sits at 5.12 with a 1.54 WHIP and 65:25 K:BB across 16 starts (77.1 innings) this season. Singer is currently lined up to face the Orioles at home his next time out.
Elly De La Cruz
Elly De La Cruz Sprained ankle
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 5:14 PM
De La Cruz sprained his ankle trying to get out of the batter's box in Sunday's loss to the Pirates, but stayed in the game. The team worked on the ankle during the rain delay, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: After the game, manager Terry Francona said that they'd re-evaluate De La Cruz on Monday. Often with ankle sprains, the day after is critical. The Reds continue their road trip with a big four-game series in Milwaukee on Monday.
Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez X-rays inconclusive
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 5:08 PM
Suarez (hand/wrist) underwent X-rays, which were inconclusive, after his departure from Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Suarez left Sunday's contest in the eighth inning after taking a 92.4 mph four-seam fastball from Mitch Keller off his left hand/wrist in the top of the sixth. The veteran slugger is expected to undergo additional imaging Monday morning, and his status moving forward will likely be updated then. The Reds are set to host the Brewers for a four-game set beginning Monday, and Suarez can be considered day-to-day for the time being.
Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez Departs after HBP
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 4:10 PM
Suarez was removed from Sunday's game against the Pirates after being hit by a pitch in the hand/wrist, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Suarez went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being plunked in the sixth inning. He remained in to run the bases but was replaced by a pinch hitter the next time through the order. The 34-year-old seems likely to undergo precautionary X-rays and should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.
Graham Ashcraft
Graham Ashcraft Another elbow scan Tuesday
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 2:22 PM
Ashcraft (elbow) will have another scan of his UCL on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Ashcraft had a PRP injection in the elbow at the beginning of the month, so presumably this scan will be to gauge the progress in the ligament following the injection. He's on the 60-day IL, so there's no imminent return.
Brandon Williamson
Brandon Williamson Injures finger in rehab
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 2:10 PM
Williamson (shoulder) injured his finger while working out, and his overall rehab has been pushed back by about 10 days as a result, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: The shoulder injury that put Williamson on the IL originally remains the primary concern. When he returns, it's unlikely that a rotation spot will be available to him, with Hunter Greene (elbow) due back soon.
Matt McLain
Matt McLain Taking seat for second straight day
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 11:29 AM
McLain is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Analysis: Cincinnati will go with Elly De La Cruz and Edwin Arroyo as its starters in the middle infield for the second day in a row while McLain is relegated to the bench. Arroyo has generated a modest .644 OPS since his call-up from Triple-A Louisville on June 1 and may need to improve his production to seize control of an everyday at second base, but McLain hasn't done much to earn himself a larger share of the playing time. After going hitless in eight at-bats over his last three starts, McLain's batting average has dropped to .198 on the season.
Edwin Arroyo
Edwin Arroyo Awarded second straight start
Sun, Jun 28, 2026, 11:26 AM
Arroyo will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Analysis: Since Elly De La Cruz returned from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and pushed Matt McLain off shortstop, Arroyo and McLain have been splitting time at the keystone. Arroyo may hold a slight edge in playing time between the two, as he's started three games to McLain's two and will now be included in the lineup for a second straight day while the Reds go up against another righty (Mitch Keller). Since being called up from Triple-A Louisville on June 1, Arroyo has produced a pedestrian .263/.328/.316 over 65 plate appearances, so he likely has more work to do before taking firmer control of the second-base gig.
