Tyler Stephenson
Tyler Stephenson Not starting Tuesday
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 5:17 PM
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Stephenson started four of the previous five games and will get a rest Tuesday. He has an underwhelming .674 OPS for the season but is batting .345 (10-for-29) with two doubles and a homer over his past nine contests.
Spencer Steer
Spencer Steer Out of Tuesday's lineup
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 5:13 PM
Steer is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Steer started the previous two games but will hit the bench for Tuesday's contest. The 28-year-old has a .125/.200/.292 slash line and 32.5 percent strikeout rate in his past 21 games, dropping his season-long OPS to .734. It's Steer's third absence in Cincinnati's past five games as Noelvi Marte is seeing more consistent playing time in right field.
Graham Ashcraft
Graham Ashcraft Will resume throwing soon
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 4:11 PM
Ashcraft is expected to resume throwing soon after receiving good news Tuesday regarding the imaging on his injured right elbow UCL, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Ashcraft landed on the 60-day injured list in late May with a UCL sprain, but a platelet-rich plasma injection earlier this month seems to have helped the ligament heal. It will take time for Ashcraft to be built back up, and there is a real possibility of a setback when the UCL is involved. However, Tuesday's news gives him a chance to return at some point during the second half.
Hunter Greene
Hunter Greene Set for season debut Saturday
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 4:07 PM
Greene (elbow) will make his season debut for the Reds on Saturday versus the Orioles, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Manager Terry Francona had said previously that Greene would take the ball either Friday or Saturday, and it's now official that the hard-throwing righty will pitch on Independence Day. Brady Singer will get the start in Friday's series opener. Greene is coming back from arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, which he underwent in mid-March. The hurler was excellent in three rehab starts, posting a 13:2 K:BB over 14.1 scoreless innings. Greene logged 82 pitches and 6.1 frames in his final rehab outing, so he should be prepared for close to a full workload Saturday.
Matt McLain
Matt McLain Works out in center field
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 4:01 PM
McLain worked out in center field pregame Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: The Reds have lost Blake Dunn (elbow) and Dane Myers (shoulder) indefinitely, creating a need for a right-handed-hitting center fielder. McLain has never played the outfield in pro ball, but he was used there extensively in college at UCLA and also saw some action in center field during the Arizona Fall League. Edwin Arroyo has surged past McLain as the Reds' top option at second base versus righties, so McLain proving capable in the outfield would give him another path to playing time.
Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez Good to go Tuesday
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 3:07 PM
Suarez (wrist) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Brewers.
Analysis: The veteran slugger sat out Monday's contest due to left wrist inflammation after being hit by a pitch Sunday, but he'll end up missing just one game. Through 22 contests in June, Suarez has struggled to a .185/.241/.383 slash line with four homers, 14 RBI and five runs.
Zach McCambley
Zach McCambley Returns to Triple-A
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 12:23 PM
The Reds optioned McCambley to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander was called up by Cincinnati on Friday and walked three batters while recording just one out Sunday in Pittsburgh, though Brock Burke extinguished that fire to prevent any runs from scoring. Across his two stints in the majors this year, McCambley has given up three earned runs with a 4:5 K:BB across his first 4.1 big-league innings.
Contract selected
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 12:19 PM
The Reds selected Johnson's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Johnson has put up a healthy .290/.388/.489 batting line with nine home runs, 11 stolen bases and a 26:49 BB:K over 55 games this season with Louisville. The 27-year-old has played mostly at second base and in left field in 2026, but he has experience at every position other than first base, catcher and pitcher. Johnson will be making his major-league debut if he gets into a game.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Lands on IL with shoulder injury
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 12:15 PM
The Reds placed Myers on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left shoulder contusion, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Myers had to be carted off the field during Monday's game versus the Brewers after he collided with the outfield wall following a terrific catch. X-rays came back negative, but Myers is still being evaluated to determine whether there's additional damage beyond a contusion. The Reds should have more on Myers' status later this week.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan Back from injured list
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 12:13 PM
The Reds reinstated Pagan (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander is fully recovered from the left hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list in early May, and he's now back on the active roster after making two rehab appearances with Triple-A Louisville. Pagan had a slow start to the campaign with a 6.43 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB across 14 innings while going 6-for-9 in save chances prior to the injury, but he should still reclaim the closer role now that he's healthy.
Hunter Greene
Hunter Greene On track to start this weekend
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 6:03 AM
Greene (elbow) rejoined the Reds for the beginning of the team's road trip in Milwaukee on Monday and said that he expects to return from the 60-day injured list to start either Friday or Saturday versus the Orioles in Cincinnati, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: While Greene won't be activated until later this week, his rehab assignment has officially come to an end. Greene, who had surgery March 11 to remove bone chips from his right elbow, looked dominant over his three rehab starts (two at Triple-A Louisville, one in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League). During his final outing with Louisville on Sunday, Greene struck out four and allowed just one baserunner over 6.1 innings while building his pitch count up to 82, so he should be ready to handle a typical starter's workload in his 2026 Reds debut. Cincinnati is listing Brady Singer as its probable starter for Friday, so Greene appears to be trending toward pitching Saturday.
TJ Friedl
TJ Friedl Enters for injured teammate
Tue, Jun 30, 2026, 5:56 AM
Friedl entered Monday's game to play center field after Dane Myers (shoulder) was removed in the fourth inning. The former went 0-for-2 in a 5-3 loss to the Brewers.
Analysis: With a lefty on the mound for Milwaukee, Friedl opened the game on the bench. The Reds have lost two center fielders over the last several days with with Myers joining Blake Dunn (elbow, IL) as unavailable. Friedl was called up Sunday in the wake of Dunn's injury -- he went 0-for-4 in that day's game -- and will operate as the primary center fielder for now while the club gets a better read on Myers' status.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Sent to hospital for evaluation
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 10:12 PM
Myers was sent to the hospital for further evaluation after exiting Monday's game against Milwaukee on a cart, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Manager Terry Francona noted after the game that Myers, who was forced to depart the series opener after crashing hard into the wall in center field, was in a significant amount of pain, so the team sent him to the hospital to get checked out. Francona also stated that X-rays at the stadium returned negative, but he failed to provide further detail. The club should have more clarity on the 30-year-old's availability going forward within the next few days.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Exits early Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 7:52 PM
Myers was carted off the field during the bottom of the fourth inning of Monday's game against the Brewers after crashing into the outfield fence, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Myers made a spectacular catch on a line drive out to the warning track, but he collided with the wall after securing the baseball and was unable to leave the field under his own power. The nature of Myers' injury is unclear at this time. TJ Friedl was deployed in center field following Myers' departure.
TJ Friedl
TJ Friedl Hitting bench with lefty starting
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 5:58 PM
Friedl is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: After being called up from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday in the wake of Blake Dunn's (elbow) placement on the injured list, Friedl started in center field in the Reds' 9-4 loss to the Pirates, going 0-for-4 in his first appearance for the big club since June 2. Though he'll take a seat Monday while southpaw Robert Gasser toes the rubber for the Brewers, Friedl could occupy the large side of a platoon in center with Dane Myers until Dunn is back from the IL.
Nathaniel Lowe
Nathaniel Lowe Ducking out of lineup Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 5:56 PM
Lowe is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Lowe will head to the bench for the series opener in Milwaukee while southpaw Robert Gasser toes the rubber for the Brewers. Lowe will cede first base to Spencer Steer, who will bat third.
Emilio Pagan
Emilio Pagan Set to regain closer role
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 5:26 PM
Reds manager Terry Francona said Monday that Pagan (hamstring) will be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday and is set to regain his role as the team's closer, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Pagan likely would have been reinserted into the ninth inning even before Tony Santillan (oblique) landed on the shelf last week, but the Santillan injury seemingly cinched things. Out since early May with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Pagan logged two scoreless rehab appearances with Triple-A Louisville. He'll get a day of rest Monday before being activated Tuesday, Francona said in an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.
Eugenio Suarez
Eugenio Suarez Held out of lineup Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 3:22 PM
Suarez (wrist) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: Suarez went 0-for-2 before exiting Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates after being hit in the left wrist by a pitch in the sixth inning. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer, Suarez said that X-rays and a CT scan on his wrist both returned negative, leaving him optimistic that he'll be "ready to go" for the Reds' four-game set in Milwaukee. The Reds will keep him on the bench for the series opener, however, as Elly De La Cruz gets a night off from playing shortstop while he manages a sprained ankle but sticks in the starting nine at Suarez's usual spot at designated hitter.
Elly De La Cruz
Elly De La Cruz In lineup at DH on Monday
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 3:15 PM
De La Cruz (ankle) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Brewers.
Analysis: De La Cruz appeared to twist an ankle while running out of the batter's box during a fifth-inning plate appearance in Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates, though he was able to stay in the game after being checked out by a trainer. Manager Terry Francona indicated after the game that De La Cruz's availability for the start of the Reds' four-game series in Milwaukee was in some question, but the 24-year-old apparently made enough progress overnight for the club to feel comfortable with including him in the lineup Monday. De La Cruz will still get a day off from playing defense in an effort to limit the strain on his ankle, clearing the way for Matt McLain to pick up a start at shortstop.
Ke'Bryan Hayes
Ke'Bryan Hayes Closing in on facing pitchers
Mon, Jun 29, 2026, 12:14 PM
Manager Terry Francona said that Hayes (back) will face live pitching at the Reds' facility in Arizona on Wednesday or Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Hayes is on the mend from a lumbar bulging disk, but if his back presents no issues for him during his upcoming hitting session, he could be cleared to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 29-year-old has been on the shelf since May 22 with the injury, so he could need more than a handful of minor-league games to stockpile at-bats and get his timing back at the plate before the Reds activate him.
