Will Banfield
Will Banfield Called up Tuesday
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:23 AM
The Reds recalled Banfield from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was added to the 40-man roster in mid-June and will now get his first look of 2026 at the major-league level. Banfield went 1-for-10 with six strikeouts in his first big-league action last season and has posted a .725 OPS with 11 homers in 79 contests at Louisville this year.
Noelvi Marte
Noelvi Marte Sent down to Louisville
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:10 AM
The Reds optioned Marte to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Analysis: Marte is just 4-for-30 with a 1:10 BB:K in August to drop his season batting line to .189/.229/.321. With Marte back in the minors, the Reds are likely to give Hector Rodriguez regular reps in right field.
Zach McCambley
Zach McCambley Optioned back to minors
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 9:20 AM
The Reds optioned McCambley to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
Analysis: McCambley was the 27th man on the roster for Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals. He logged a scoreless frame in the second game and will now head back to his team's top minor-league affiliate.
Elly De La Cruz
Elly De La Cruz Slaps walk-off double
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 7:23 AM
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in a 6-5 extra-inning win in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against St. Louis. He went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in the matinee.
Analysis: De La Cruz completed the Reds comeback in the nightcap with a walk-off, run-producing double in the bottom of the 10th inning. It was the first walk-off of the two-time All-Star's career. De La Cruz entered the second game on a 0-for-14 run before singling in the first inning.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Homers twice in twin bill
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 11:23 PM
Myers went 3-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs across both games of Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Myers provided Cincinnati's only run in Game 1 with a fourth-inning solo homer. He began the nightcap on the bench but appeared as a pinch hitter with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Reds down by a run. Myers came through in a huge way, swatting his second solo long ball of the day to tie the score. The power outburst was pretty unexpected given that Myers hadn't homered in 51 games coming into Monday. In fact, entering the twin bill he was batting a meager .139 (5-for-36) through his first 11 contests in August. He's been in the starting lineup in six of the Reds' past nine games, so Meyers has mostly been allowed to work through his slump.
Rhett Lowder
Rhett Lowder Logs no-decision in Game 2 of twin bill
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 11:03 PM
Lowder completed 6.2 innings in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against St. Louis, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five batters in a no-decision.
Analysis: Lowder began the outing well, getting through three scoreless frames with only one hit and one walk on his ledger. However, the Cardinals got to him for two runs on four hits in the fourth before striking for another pair of runs in the sixth. Though Lowder wasn't able to record a quality start, he did tie his longest outing of the season -- he had previously tossed 6.2 frames in a win over San Francisco on April 15. The right-hander will carry a mediocre 5.17 ERA into his next appearance, which is lined up to take place in Arizona.
Dane Myers
Dane Myers Sitting out after homer in first game
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:45 PM
Myers is not in the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.
Analysis: Myers had two of the Reds' three hits -- including a solo home run for his team's only run -- in the first game of the twin bill, but he'll begin the nightcap on the bench. TJ Friedl will occupy center field for Cincinnati.
Noelvi Marte
Noelvi Marte Exiting lineup for nightcap
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:42 PM
Marte is not in the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.
Analysis: Marte went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts in the first game and is just 4-for-30 with a 1:10 BB:K at the dish so far in August. Hector Rodriguez will start in right field in the second game of the double dip.
Tyler Stephenson
Tyler Stephenson Taking seat for second game
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:39 PM
Stephenson is absent from the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Stephenson started at catcher in the first game of the twin bill, going 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. The Reds will turn to Jose Trevino behind the dish for the nightcap.
Zach Maxwell
Zach Maxwell Back in big-league bullpen
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:32 PM
The Reds recalled Maxwell from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Analysis: Maxwell will help supplement the bullpen as the Reds navigate through a stretch of 17 games in 16 days. The big righty has struggled during his opportunities in the majors this season, logging a 9.90 ERA and 9:10 K:BB over 10 innings.
Kent Emanuel
Kent Emanuel DFA'd after spot start
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 4:27 PM
The Reds designated Emanuel for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Emanuel started the first game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals and did his job in holding them to two runs over five innings. He look a tough-luck loss, however, and will now exit the 26-man and 40-man rosters. There's a good chance Emanuel clears waivers, though he would have the ability to elect free agency at that point since he's been outrighted previously.
Noelvi Marte
Noelvi Marte Playing time on upswing
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 11:25 AM
Marte will start in right field and bat eighth in the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.
Analysis: Despite going 0-for-6 at the plate over his last two starts, Marte will stick in the lineup for the third time in four games. Though the Reds appear to be prioritizing Marte ahead of rookie Hector Rodriguez -- who is on the bench for a fourth straight contest -- Michael Toglia could eventually cut into Marte's playing time. Toglia has been included in the lineup for four of the Reds' last six games, with his last two starts coming at corner-outfield positions.
JJ Bleday
JJ Bleday Sitting out first game of twin bill
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 9:13 AM
Bleday is not in the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.
Analysis: It's southpaw Quinn Mathews on the bump for the Cardinals, so the left-handed-hitting Bleday will exit the lineup while Michael Toglia handles left field. Bleday should be back in the lineup for Monday's nightcap.
Kent Emanuel
Kent Emanuel Added to roster for spot start
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 9:10 AM
The Reds selected Emanuel's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Analysis: Emanuel was pitching in independent ball a couple weeks ago when the Reds signed him to a minor-league contract. He struck out eight over six innings of one-run ball in his lone start with Louisville, and the 34-year-old southpaw will now join the Reds to make a start in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals. The start is the first of Emanuel's big-league career, after his first 22 appearances in the majors came in relief.
Ron Marinaccio
Ron Marinaccio Scrubbed from 40-man roster
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 8:59 AM
The Reds designated Marinaccio for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Marinaccio was scooped up off waivers earlier this month and is now headed back to the waiver wire after getting roughed up for 10 runs over 5.1 innings covering four appearances for Cincinnati. His removal from the 40-man roster clears a spot for the arrival of Kent Emanuel.
Zach McCambley
Zach McCambley Serving as 27th man
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 8:55 AM
The Reds recalled McCambley from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Analysis: He'll serve as the 27th man on the roster for Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals. McCambley has logged 7.2 innings across seven appearances for the Reds this season, allowing four runs with a 7:6 K:BB. He will likely be sent back to Louisville following the twin bill.
Tyler Stephenson
Tyler Stephenson Homers as pinch hitter
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 8:37 AM
Stephenson entered Sunday's game as a pinch hitter and hit a solo home run in a 7-1 loss to Miami.
Analysis: Stephenson's eighth-inning blast made it a 2-1 game before the Marlins put it out of reach with a five-run ninth. The home run was the 12th of the season for Stephenson, who's hit six of them in the last 21 games. What had been a rough first half (.680 OPS) has given way to a productive second half (1.003), as the 30-year-old backstop sets himself up for unrestricted free agency this offseason.
Tony Santillan
Tony Santillan Could be activated this week
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 8:27 AM
Santillan (oblique) could be activated to the major-league roster later this week, Mike Petraglia of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Santillan worked a scoreless inning as the opener in Sunday's game and will make at least one more appearance either Tuesday or Wednesday. If all goes well, the right-hander could rejoin the Reds at the end of the week. He's made two scoreless appearances with the Bats, striking out three over two innings.
Nick Lodolo
Nick Lodolo Delivers five scoreless innings
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 2:11 AM
Lodolo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Marlins, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two over five scoreless innings.
Analysis: Lodolo matched up well with Eury Perez, who delivered six scoreless frames of his own for Miami, but Cincinnati's bullpen was shelled in the late innings to spoil his effort. The left-hander tossed just 73 pitches in his second start since returning from the injured list. It was a major upgrade from his return start, where he served up three home runs against the White Sox. Lodolo owns a 4.52 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 57:29 K:BB across 71.2 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday against Arizona.
Brandon Williamson
Brandon Williamson Reaches fourth inning in rehab outing
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 10:33 PM
Williamson (shoulder) struck out two and allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks across 3.2 innings in a rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A Louisville.
Analysis: Taking the hill for the fourth start of his rehab assignment, Williamson built up to 63 pitches (47 strikes) and induced seven whiffs while averaging 92.7 mph with his four-seam fastball. The Reds will likely decide on Williamson's next step within the next couple of days, but the left-shoulder shouldn't need more than one more tune-up outing in the minors before returning from the 60-day injured list. With Rhett Lowder performing well over the past month as the Reds' No. 5 starter, Williamson may not have a path to the rotation once he's activated and could have to settle for a long-relief role.
