Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Isiah Kiner-Falefa Undergoing CT scan
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 10:02 AM
Kiner-Falefa will undergo a CT scan Thursday on his injured left forearm to check for fractures, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Kiner-Falefa was placed on the 10-day injured list this past weekend, but the Red Sox wanted to wait for the swelling in the infielder's arm to go down before sending him for testing. Once those results are in, the team will have a better idea as to how much time Kiner-Falefa might miss.
Anthony Seigler
Anthony Seigler Makes fifth straight start
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 7:45 AM
Seigler started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to Colorado.
Analysis: Seigler made a fifth consecutive start at second base since being called up before being moved mid-game to third base for an injured Caleb Durbin (finger). The Red Sox confirmed Durbin's injury is not a fracture, per Owen Perkins of MLB.com, and it will be a matter of how much pain he can tolerate. If Durbin misses time, Seigler could take over at the hot corner while Andruw Monasterio fills in at the keystone.
Andruw Monasterio
Andruw Monasterio Gets another start at shortstop
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 7:38 AM
Monasterio started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Rockies.
Analysis: Monasterio made a second consecutive start at shortstop with Marcelo Mayer (foot) opening the game on the bench. The homer was the third of the season for Monasterio, who entered Wednesday's contest batting just .087 (2-for-23) over his last 11 games. Mayer eventually entered the game for an injured Caleb Durbin (finger) and took over at shortstop while Monasterio covered second base.
Connor Wong
Connor Wong Homers in loss
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 7:33 AM
Wong served as the designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to Colorado.
Analysis: Wong gave the Red Sox an early lead with a two-run home run in the second inning. It was his first of the season and first since September 2024. He was an unlikely DH -- Wednesday marked just the third time this season he filled the role -- but the Red Sox carry three catchers and had Mickey Gasper on the bench if needed. Wong is slashing .270/.356/.393 with the one home run, 12 RBI, two steals and 12 runs scored across 33 games.
Marcelo Mayer
Marcelo Mayer Enters mid-game Wednesday
Thu, Jun 25, 2026, 7:27 AM
Mayer (foot) replaced an injured Caleb Durbin (finger) in the third inning of Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Rockies. The former went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a critical fielding error.
Analysis: Mayer was held out of starting lineups Tuesday and Wednesday due to a sore left foot. However, the fact he was able to play defense for seven innings indicates the injury wasn't too serious.
Ranger Suarez
Ranger Suarez Settles for no-decision
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 9:26 PM
Suarez took a no-decision Wednesday against the Rockies, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: Facing a tough assignment at hitter-friendly Coors Field, Suarez fared well on the hill Wednesday. The 30-year-old left-hander fell just one strikeout short of matching his season-high output, also turning in his second consecutive quality start and third in his past four outings. Suarez will take a steady 2.94 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 84:25 K:BB over 82.2 innings into his next scheduled start at home versus the Nationals.
Caleb Durbin
Caleb Durbin Suffers dislocated pinkie finger
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 3:20 PM
The Red Sox announced that Durbin was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies in the third inning due to a partial dislocation of his left pinkie finger, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Durbin went 0-for-2 before being lifted from the contest after suffering the injury while sliding into first base as he attempted to beat out an infield single. Interim manager Chad Tracy will likely elaborate further on Durbin's situation after the game, but for the time being, the 26-year-old infielder can be viewed as day-to-day. Durbin bats from the right side and throws right-handed, but the injury to his non-dominant hand could still present discomfort for him in the field and/or when he swings.
Caleb Durbin
Caleb Durbin Makes early exit Wednesday
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 3:04 PM
Durbin was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rockies prior to the bottom of the third inning due to an apparent injury, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports. He went 0-for-2 prior to leaving the game.
Analysis: Though the nature of Durbin's injury isn't yet known, he appeared to get hurt while sliding into first base as he attempted to leg out an infield single in the top of the third inning. For the bottom half of the frame, Anthony Seigler slid over from second base to cover the hot corner in place of Durbin, who owns a .635 OPS on the season but had been one of the Red Sox's hottest hitters with a .317/.343/.587 slash line through his first 18 games of June heading into Wednesday. The Red Sox should have an update on Durbin's condition later in the day.
Roman Anthony
Roman Anthony Still not ready to hit
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 12:40 PM
Interim manager Chad Tracy said Wednesday that Anthony (finger/wrist) hasn't made any substantive progress in his recovery back in Boston since the Red Sox began their road trip last weekend, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Though a recent MRI on a partially torn tendon in his right ring finger showed healing, Anthony is still experiencing some discomfort that has prevented him from initiating a hitting progression. He'll simply have to wait until the pain subsides before he can make any meaningful strides in his recovery, leaving Anthony without a definitive timeline for a return. The young outfielder has been on the shelf since May 7.
Marcelo Mayer
Marcelo Mayer On bench for second straight game
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 11:25 AM
Mayer (foot) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Mayer will miss out on a second straight start due to a sore left foot, which stems from him fouling a ball off himself during Monday's series opener. The Red Sox are viewing Mayer as day-to-day, and the infielder could be available off the bench Wednesday if he's noticed some improvement since resting for Tuesday's 5-2 win. Boston will go with Andruw Monasterio at shortstop in the series finale in Colorado.
Mickey Gasper
Mickey Gasper Sitting against lefty again
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 11:20 AM
Gasper is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Gasper is a switch hitter, but he's fared much better against right-handed pitching both this season and throughout his big-league career. The Red Sox will thus keep Gasper on the bench for a second straight day while the Rockies send another lefty starter (Kyle Freeland) to the hill.
Jarren Duran
Jarren Duran Receiving afternoon off
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 11:14 AM
Duran is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Duran went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 5-2 win, leaving him hitless over his last four starts and bringing his season-long average down to .199, which places him 150th among the majors' 153 qualified hitters. The left-handed-hitting Duran's fortunes were unlikely to take a turn for the better with southpaw Kyle Freeland on the mound Wednesday, so the struggling outfielder will head to the bench after a stretch of 46 consecutive starts. Nate Eaton will take over Duran's spot in left field and will bat leadoff.
Ceddanne Rafaela
Ceddanne Rafaela Stolen base, RBI in win
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 7:33 AM
Rafaela went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Colorado.
Analysis: Rafaela capped off Boston's scoring, plating the team's fifth run with an RBI single in the sixth inning. The 25-year-old outfielder is enjoying the best season of his four-year MLB career, slashing .280/.330/.437 with seven home runs, 33 RBI, nine steals and 31 runs over 73 games. Rafaela's been one of the Red Sox's most consistent hitters and he earned a promotion to the second spot in the batting order, where he's been the last 24 games.
Andruw Monasterio
Andruw Monasterio Steps in at shortstop
Wed, Jun 24, 2026, 7:19 AM
Monasterio started at shortstop and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Rockies.
Analysis: Monasterio got the start at shortstop with Marcelo Mayer nursing a sore foot after fouling a ball off it the previous night. As the Red Sox were facing a left-hander, Colorado's Sean Sullivan, it's likely Mayer would have been held out regardless of the injury. Playing time has been sporadic for Monasterio, who's made just 28 starts and is slashing .223/.271/.355 with two home runs, 11 RBI, one steal and 12 runs scored across 45 total appearances.
Marcelo Mayer
Marcelo Mayer Sitting with sore left foot
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 4:52 PM
Mayer is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Rockies due to a sore left foot, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Mayer fouled a pitch off of his left foot in a recent game, which has left him walking with a limp. As he rests up Tuesday, Anthony Siegler is starting at second base and batting ninth.
Mickey Gasper
Mickey Gasper Idle Tuesday
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 4:43 PM
Gasper is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Rockies.
Analysis: Gasper will rest on the bench Tuesday after going 1-for-5 with two walks across the last two games since Sunday. Connor Wong has the start at catcher and is batting eighth.
Romy Gonzalez
Romy Gonzalez Aiming for Saturday return
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 4:43 PM
Gonzalez (shoulder/hip) said Tuesday that he expects to return from the injured list and make his season debut Saturday against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Analysis: Gonzalez has been on the injured list all season as he works his way back from shoulder surgery, though he was pulled from his rehab game at Double-A Portland on Saturday due to soreness in his hip. His hip injury turned out to be minor, and he's now set to spend the next couple of days continuing his rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester before returning over the weekend. Once activated, he shouldn't have a problem working into Boston's lineup, though the team may slowly ease him back into regular action.
Andrew Knizner
Andrew Knizner Links up with Red Sox
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 2:00 PM
Knizner agreed to a minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Analysis: After failing to crack the Mariners' Opening Day roster this spring, Knizner joined the Rockies on a minor-league deal and had a .961 OPS with 10 homers in 33 games with Triple-A Albuquerque before being released last week. The 31-year-old doesn't have a clear path to joining the big-league club since Boston already has three catchers on the 26-man roster.
Aroldis Chapman
Aroldis Chapman Blows first save of 2026
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 3:46 AM
Chapman (0-3) blew the save and took the loss in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies. He allowed three runs on four hits without recording an out.
Analysis: Chapman entered with a two-run lead in the ninth inning and was greeted by a trio of singles, including a 74.2 mph blooper from TJ Rumfield and a bunt hit from Cole Carrigg. With the bases loaded and no outs, Jake McCarthy punched a fastball into left field that Jarren Duran struggled to field cleanly, allowing all three runners to score on a walk-off triple. It marked Chapman's first blown save of 2026 and his second straight outing in which he allowed a run and was charged with the loss. Despite the recent hiccups, the 38-year-old has still been excellent this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB with 14 saves across 21.2 innings.
Jake Bennett
Jake Bennett Delivers six scoreless frames
Tue, Jun 23, 2026, 3:35 AM
Bennett did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four hits and no walks over six scoreless innings against the Rockies. He struck out nine.
Analysis: Tasked with pitching at the notoriously hitter-friendly Coors Field, Bennett took the challenge in stride, allowing no runs while recording a season-high nine strikeouts in what can easily be considered the best outing of his young career. A blown save by Aroldis Chapman, however, denied Bennett the win. Through five big-league starts, the 25-year-old owns a 1-3 record with a 3.71 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB across 26.2 innings. His next start is projected for Saturday against the Yankees.
