Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Nearing rehab assignment
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 1:26 PM
Manager Walt Weiss said Saturday that Murphy (finger) is getting close to beginning a rehab assignment, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: A fractured left middle finger has kept Murphy on the shelf since mid-May, but he's been starting to check off the boxes necessary to move on to playing in minor-league games. Given the length of his absence, he'll likely have to play a handful of games in the minors before returning to the active roster.
Mike Yastrzemski
Mike Yastrzemski Could return Tuesday
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 1:19 PM
Yastrzemski (elbow) could return from the injured list when eligible Tuesday, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: Yastrzemski has made encouraging progress in his recovery since landing on the injured list July 11 with left elbow inflammation. It's still unknown whether Atlanta will send him down to the minors to get some tune-up reps before activating the outfielder to the active roster, but he seems likely to return after the 10-day minimum either way.
Spencer Schwellenbach
Spencer Schwellenbach No timeline for rehab stint
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 8:00 AM
Schwellenbach (elbow) has yet to begin a rehab assignment, Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: There had been some hope the 26-year-old right-hander would be able to make his season debut before the end of August, but he'll need to get back into game action very soon for that to be a realistic possibility. Schwellenbach is recovering from a fractured elbow he suffered last June, having put together a 3.09 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 108:18 K:BB through 110.2 innings in 2025 to that point.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Set for follow-up appointment
Sat, Jul 18, 2026, 7:54 AM
Strider (elbow) will have a follow-up appointment with Dr. Keith Meister next week and may also be scheduled for an MRI, Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: The right-hander was originally shut down June 16 for a period of about four weeks after an initial MRI revealed no structural damage. A return to the big-league roster in late August would seem to be the best-case scenario for Strider, but Atlanta manager Walt Weiss didn't sound optimistic when discussing the 2023 All-Star. "He's not close to being back here. Spencer's not even really on the radar right now," Weiss said Friday. Through just 39 innings this season, Strider has a 5.31 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 46:20 K:BB.
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II Smacks bases-clearing double
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:20 PM
Harris went 2-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI during Friday's 15-1 win over Texas.
Analysis: It was the second time this season that Harris hit two doubles in a game, the second of which cleared the bases in the seventh inning to extend Atlanta's lead to 11-0. The 25-year-old outfielder continues to enjoy a productive season, producing a .297/.329/.491 slash line with 16 home runs, 56 RBI and six steals across 359 plate appearances.
Austin Riley
Austin Riley Smacks late homer against Texas
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:15 PM
Riley went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 15-1 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Riley added to Atlanta's blowout victory with a solo homer in the eighth, his 10th long ball of the season. He's sitting at a .629 OPS over 390 plate appearances this season and has struck out 113 times, which is fifth-most in the National League. Perhaps Friday's performance is a sign of things to come for Riley for the second half of the regular season.
Matt Olson
Matt Olson Goes deep against Texas
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:12 PM
Olson went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and an additional run scored during Atlanta's 15-1 win over Texas on Friday.
Analysis: Olson extended Atlanta's lead to 6-0 after smacking a solo homer off Cal Quantrill in the fourth inning. Olson is up to 26 home runs on the season, which is seventh-most in the majors and fourth in the National League. He has an .887 OPS with two steals and 59 RBI across 421 plate appearances in 2026.
Drake Baldwin
Drake Baldwin Collects five RBI in blowout win
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 10:02 PM
Baldwin went 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI and an additional run scored during Atlanta's 15-1 win over Texas on Friday.
Analysis: Baldwin smacked RBI singles in the second and fifth innings but made his biggest impact of the game in the fourth, when he belted a three-run homer off Cal Quantrill. It was the 16th home run of the season for Baldwin, though he's hit the long ball only twice since June 17. The 25-year-old catcher has an .804 OPS with 51 RBI and one steal across 324 plate appearances this season.
Chris Sale
Chris Sale Tosses seven scoreless frames
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 9:40 PM
Sale (10-6) earned the win against the Rangers on Friday,a llowing two hits while striking out six across seven scoreless innings. He did not issue a walk.
Analysis: The veteran southpaw was sharp in Atlanta's first game since the All-Star break. He limited the Rangers to just two hits and retired 13-straight batters from the third to seventh frames, ending his night with 16 whiffs on just 89 pitches. It was the 11th quality start of the season for Sale, whose 2.06 ERA (across 105 innings) is third-best among qualified starters in the majors behind Jacob Misiorowski (1.62) and Cam Schlittler (2.05). Sale is lined up to face the Padres at home next week.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Might return for homestand
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:10 PM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Friday that he hopes Acuna (hamstring) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the team's homestand July 23, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Acuna has played three rehab games in the rookie-level Florida Complex League and was transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett earlier Friday to continue his rehab assignment. He was used in the designated hitter slot for all three contests in the FCL, and Atlanta likely needs to see Acuna play right field before reinstating the former MVP. Acuna has been shelved since early June with a left hamstring strain.
Robert Suarez
Robert Suarez Plays catch Friday
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 3:05 PM
Suarez (elbow) played catch on the field at Truist Park on Friday, Harrison Smajovits of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Suarez landed on the 15-day injured list nearly one month ago with right elbow inflammation. He will need to complete mound work and throw to hitters before perhaps going out on a rehab assignment. A clearer picture regarding a timeline for the setup man should be available as he continues his throwing progression.
Brewer Hicklen
Brewer Hicklen Second straight start in right
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 1:57 PM
Hicklen will start in right field and bat ninth in Friday's game versus the Rangers.
Analysis: Hicklen has started in right field against two straight right-handers since he was called up last weekend. However, with Ronald Acuna (hamstring) due back from the injured list any day now, Hicklen could either head to the bench or back to the minors soon.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Moving rehab up to Triple-A
Fri, Jul 17, 2026, 9:41 AM
Acuna's (hamstring) rehab assignment was transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
Analysis: Acuna went 1-for-7 with a grand slam in three rehab games at the rookie-level Florida Complex League and will now test things out against a higher level of competition. He was used in the designated hitter slot for all three contests in the FCL, and it's unclear when Acuna will be worked back into things in right field. Atlanta has not revealed a target date for Acuna's return to the active roster, but it should happen soon.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Homers in rehab game
Thu, Jul 16, 2026, 12:52 PM
Acuna (hamstring) belted a grand slam and drew a pair of walks in Thursday's rehab game in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Analysis: It was the third rehab contest for Acuna, who went 0-for-6 in his first two games. He has yet to play the outfield, as Atlanta is bringing Acuna along slowly as he works his way back from his second injured-list stint this season caused by a left hamstring strain. If Acuna is activated for the beginning of the second half, Atlanta could initially use him only at DH.
Owen Murphy
Owen Murphy Getting starting nod Saturday
Wed, Jul 15, 2026, 10:56 AM
Murphy will start Saturday's game against the Rangers, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Murphy was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett last weekend and worked three shutout innings out of the bullpen without allowing a hit Saturday against the Cardinals. He's worked exclusively as a starter in the minors this season, making 16 combined starts between Double-A and Triple-A. The 22-year-old right-hander has a 3.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 65:20 K:BB across 60.1 innings with Gwinnett. Atlanta has 16 games in 16 days beginning Friday, and it's unclear if Murphy will make more starts after this weekend. Both Martin Perez (forearm) and AJ Smith-Shawver (elbow) are candidates to rejoin the rotation during that span.
AJ Smith-Shawver
AJ Smith-Shawver Not ready for activation
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 12:16 PM
Smith-Shawver (elbow) will make at least one more rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett, Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Smith-Shawver is in the final stages of his recovery from June 2025 Tommy John surgery. but he's not quite there yet. The 23-year-old right-hander built up to 58 pitches (28 strikes) with Gwinnett on Saturday, but the results weren't pretty as he gave up two runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings. On the bright side, his fastball sat 95-97 mph and topped out at 98.7 mph before he began to fade in his third and final frame. Smith-Shawver's rehab assignment runs out July 29, and if Atlanta decides to max that out, he could fit in three more starts before coming off the IL.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim Cleared for rehab assignment
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 8:43 AM
Atlanta announced Monday that Kim (finger) will begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Analysis: Kim landed on the 10-day injured list July 4 after experiencing inflammation in his surgically repaired right middle finger, but he doesn't look like he'll be in store for a lengthy shutdown. He'll likely play at least a couple games in the FCL early this week before Atlanta decides whether to activate him ahead of its next game Friday versus the Rangers or have him continue his rehab assignment with a higher-level affiliate. After returning from a season-opening stint on the shelf and debuting for Atlanta on May 12, Kim produced a lowly .068/.171/.068 slash line over 82 plate appearances before landing back on the shelf. He'll likely have to settle for a reserve role in the middle infield once he's reinstated.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Starting up rehab assignment in FCL
Mon, Jul 13, 2026, 8:38 AM
Atlanta announced that Acuna (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Monday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Analysis: Acuna has been on the shelf for just over a month due to a left hamstring strain, but after recently resuming full baseball activities, he's been given the green light to advance to the final step of his recovery process. Atlanta hasn't revealed how long of a rehab assignment Acuna will require prior to being activated, but if he experiences no setbacks while playing in the FCL early in the week, it's conceivable that he'll be ready to go for the big club's first game out of the All-Star break Friday versus the Rangers.
Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias Locks down 19th save
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 5:41 PM
Iglesias struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over St. Louis.
Analysis: Iglesias has allowed four runs over his last four innings, but he's converted three of four save chances in that span. The veteran reliever was dominant early in the season but has regressed since late May, though he's in no immediate danger of losing the closer job. He's at a 2.23 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 32.1 innings while converting 19 of 20 save chances this season.
JR Ritchie
JR Ritchie Fares well in bulk relief outing
Sun, Jul 12, 2026, 5:39 PM
Ritchie allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus St. Louis on Sunday.
Analysis: Ritchie had to come in earlier than expected after opener Danny Young allowed a run and left two men on base with two outs in the first inning. Ritchie got out of that jam and then turned in a strong performance of his own, only running into trouble in the fourth inning. Ritchie has allowed two runs over 8.2 innings across three appearances in July. He's now at a 4.38 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 44:30 K:BB through 49.1 innings over 11 games (seven starts) in the majors. Ritchie's role remains in flux -- he could return to the bullpen full-time or get demoted Triple-A Gwinnett if Martin Perez (forearm contusion) is ready to go after the All-Star break.
