Jose Azocar
Jose Azocar Loses 40-man roster spot
Wed, May 6, 2026, 10:44 AM
Atlanta designated Azocar for assignment Wednesday.
Analysis: Azocar's stint in the big leagues lasted just three days, with the veteran outfielder getting into two games and going 0-for-2 with a stolen base. He'll give up his spot on the 40-man roster to infielder Jim Jarvis, who was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Receives first big-league call-up
Wed, May 6, 2026, 10:42 AM
Atlanta selected Jarvis's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Analysis: Outfielder Jose Azocar was designated for assignment in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Jarvis, who will be making his MLB debut if and when he gets into a game. Though he's primarily been used at shortstop during his minor-league career, Jarvis has experience at second base and third base and is likely to serve as a utility infielder for Atlanta. Jarvis showed excellent contact skills, plate discipline and speed during his time with Gwinnett this season, posting a .305/.418/.445 batting line while notching 15 steals in 17 attempts over 153 plate appearances.
Grant Holmes
Grant Holmes Start getting skipped Wednesday
Wed, May 6, 2026, 8:47 AM
Holmes is no longer scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Mariners, as Martin Perez is now slated to take the hill for Atlanta in the series finale in Seattle.
Analysis: According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the change in the pitching schedule doesn't necessarily mean that Holmes will be heading to the bullpen on a permanent basis, and Atlanta could even steer clear of using him in relief Wednesday if the team wants him to make a start during the three-game series in Los Angeles this weekend. Atlanta may just have wanted to give Holmes a bit of a reset after he failed to reach six innings in three of his last four starts while pitching to a 5.95 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB during that span.
Martin Perez
Martin Perez Slated to start Wednesday
Wed, May 6, 2026, 8:39 AM
Perez will start Wednesday's game against the Mariners in Seattle.
Analysis: Grant Holmes had initially been listed as Atlanta's starter for Wednesday, but the team will instead pivot to Perez after the veteran southpaw wasn't needed in relief in the first two games of the series. According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the change doesn't necessarily mean that Perez will be a regular in the rotation moving forward, or that Holmes will be headed to the bullpen on anything more than a short-term basis. Whether he's been used as a starter or reliever, Perez has been excellent this season; he'll take a 2.22 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 28.1 innings into Wednesday's outing.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Sitting down Tuesday
Tue, May 5, 2026, 5:09 PM
Murphy isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Seattle.
Analysis: Murphy went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts during his season debut Monday, and Atlanta will keep him on the bench Wednesday while the team looks to ease him back into major-league action following his return from hip surgery. Drake Baldwin will handle catching duties, and Dominic Smith will start as the designated hitter.
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II Back in starting nine
Tue, May 5, 2026, 5:06 PM
Harris (quad) will start in left field and bat fourth against the Mariners on Tuesday.
Analysis: A quad injury kept Harris out of the lineup for each of Atlanta's last two games, though he was able to appear as a pinch hitter Monday. Now back starting in the outfield, he'll aim to continue a hot start that's seen him slash .318/.351/.551 with seven homers, 22 RBI and 13 runs scored through 33 games.
Carlos Carrasco
Carlos Carrasco Designated for assignment
Tue, May 5, 2026, 12:07 PM
Atlanta designated Carrasco for assignment Tuesday.
Analysis: The veteran right-hander was designated for assignment by Atlanta in late April before re-signing a few days later and being added back to the big-league roster. Carrasco fired 1.1 scoreless innings Monday in Seattle and was unscored upon in his other appearance earlier this season, but he'll still lose his roster spot with Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) coming off the injured list.
Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias Back from injured list
Tue, May 5, 2026, 11:39 AM
Atlanta reinstated Iglesias (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: Manager Walt Weiss said Monday that Atlanta could wait until Wednesday to activate Iglesias, but he'll instead rejoin the big club after spending the 15-day minimum on the shelf. The veteran right-hander will reclaim the closer job from Robert Suarez, who should return to a setup role after recording three saves in Iglesias' absence.
Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias Return could be pushed to Wednesday
Tue, May 5, 2026, 9:02 AM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Monday that Iglesias (shoulder) could be activated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday instead of Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Iglesias is first eligible for activation Tuesday and is ready to return, but he could be delayed a day depending on how Atlanta decides to handle its roster. The veteran closer has missed the last two weeks of action with right shoulder inflammation. When Iglesias is activated, he'll regain his closer job and push Robert Suarez back to a setup role.
Matt Olson
Matt Olson Mashes NL-leading 12th homer
Tue, May 5, 2026, 8:53 AM
Olson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: All four of Atlanta's runs in the game came on solo shots, with Olson launching his off Logan Gilbert in the sixth inning. It was Olson's fifth long ball in the last eight games, and on the season the veteran first baseman leads the National League in homers (12) and RBI (32) to go along with a .300/.383/.664 slash line in 36 contests.
Jorge Mateo
Jorge Mateo Swipes fourth bag
Tue, May 5, 2026, 8:49 AM
Mateo went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Making his fifth straight start at shortstop while Mauricio Dubon is needed in the outfield, Mateo swiped a bag for the second straight game, giving him four on the season in five attempts. The veteran utility player figures to see consistent playing time at least as long as Ronald Acuna (hamstring) and Michael Harris (quadriceps) are both sidelined, and Mateo's taken advantage of his opportunities so far this season, slashing .289/.319/.467 through 47 plate appearances with two doubles, two homers, five RBI and 12 runs in addition to his activity on the basepaths.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Hitless in season debut
Tue, May 5, 2026, 8:46 AM
Murphy went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Monday's loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: Getting the start behind the plate and batting seventh while Drake Baldwin hit leadoff as the designated hitter, Murphy looked rusty in his first action of the season for Atlanta. Murphy missed the first five-plus weeks of the campaign while completing his recovery from hip surgery, but the veteran backstop should see semi-regular duty whenever Baldwin gets deployed at DH. Murphy slugged 16 home runs over 94 games in 2025, but that production came with a .199/.300/.409 slash line.
Drake Baldwin
Drake Baldwin Another long ball Monday
Tue, May 5, 2026, 8:42 AM
Baldwin went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Mariners.
Analysis: The slugging catcher led off the game with his ninth homer of the season, as he launched a Logan Gilbert slider 426 feet to right-center field. It was Baldwin's first start as the leadoff hitter for Atlanta, but it likely won't be his last as the team looks to replace Ronald Acuna (hamstring) in the short term. Over the last 20 games, Baldwin is slashing a sizzling .321/.409/.506 with four long balls, 13 RBI and 18 runs.
Martin Perez
Martin Perez Could be needed to start
Tue, May 5, 2026, 8:27 AM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said that Perez wasn't available out of the bullpen for Monday's 5-4 loss to Seattle because the left-hander might be needed to start one of the final two games of the series in Seattle, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Atlanta has already confirmed Bryce Elder and Grant Holmes as its starters for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, but Weiss's comments may indicate that one of the two is not necessarily locked into taking the hill that day. Though he had been expected to shift to the bullpen when Atlanta brought back Spencer Strider from the injured list over the weekend, Perez looks like he could still be a factor in the rotation. Whether he makes his next appearance as a starter or a reliever, Perez will be fresh after having not pitched since last Tuesday, when he tossed five scoreless innings against Detroit to bring his season ERA down to 2.22.
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II Considered day-to-day
Mon, May 4, 2026, 7:52 PM
Harris (quadriceps) is being considered day-to-day after Atlanta left him out of Monday's starting lineup against Seattle, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Harris managed to slot into the starting lineup in the DH spot Saturday, but he wasn't penciled into the starting nine Monday after also sitting Sunday. Manager Walt Weiss noted that the club is officially considering Harris day-to-day, though an IL stint could be on the table if the quad injury doesn't improve over the next few days. "You pull the plug on it if it starts to get worse at any time," said Weiss. "There's a tipping point right? We can't continue with this for another two week."
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II Remains out of lineup Monday
Mon, May 4, 2026, 5:20 PM
Harris (quad) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game in Seattle.
Analysis: Harris returned from his left quad injury to start Saturday's game against the Rockies in the designated hitter spot, but he's now been absent from the lineup for the last two contests. Atlanta does not appear comfortable playing Harris in center field yet, and it has elected to put Drake Baldwin at DH on Monday while Sean Murphy makes his season debut at catcher. Harris has made a couple pinch-hitting appearances in games he didn't start, so he should be available off the bench Monday.
Jonah Heim
Jonah Heim DFA'd by Atlanta
Mon, May 4, 2026, 5:04 PM
Atlanta designed Heim for assignment Monday.
Analysis: Heim served as Atlanta's No. 2 catcher behind Drake Baldwin after Sean Murphy (hip) opened the season on the 10-day injured list. With Murphy back from the IL, Heim's services are no longer needed on Atlanta's major-league roster, and it's unclear whether he will stay with the organization if he clears waivers. Heim is slashing .231/.311/.410 with one home run and eight RBI across 45 plate appearances this season.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Activated from IL
Mon, May 4, 2026, 5:00 PM
Atlanta activated Murphy (hip) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: Murphy is ready to make his 2026 debut following his recovery from his surgery in September to repair a right hip labral tear. He finished his rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett strongly, going 8-for-24 (.333) with four RBI, two doubles and six runs scored over his last six outings. Murphy should slide back into his primary role as Atlanta's designated hitter while Drake Baldwin continues to handle catcher duties. Jonah Heim was designated for assignment by Atlanta in a corresponding move.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim Moving rehab to Triple-A
Mon, May 4, 2026, 4:43 PM
Kim (finger) is moving his rehab assignment from Double-A Columbus to Triple-A Gwinnett this week, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.
Analysis: Kim embarked on his rehab assignment in late April and is taking the next step in his recovery from surgery he underwent in January to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger. He went 3-for-9 with four walks, one steal and three runs scored across four outings in Double-A and will likely need a few outings in Triple-A before being cleared to return to the majors. Mauricio Dubon should continue to hold down the fort at shortstop until Kim is back with Atlanta.
Ozzie Albies
Ozzie Albies Hit streak at 15 games
Mon, May 4, 2026, 9:31 AM
Albies went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Rockies.
Analysis: The switch-hitting second baseman extended his hitting streak to 15 games, tying his career high, with another dazzling performance. Albies is slashing .421/.470/.702 during his streak with seven doubles, three homers, 13 RBI and 14 runs, as well as a stellar 7:4 BB:K.
