Ozzie Albies
Ozzie Albies Pops 14th homer
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 8:46 AM
Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Mets.
Analysis: The second baseman took Christian Scott deep in the third inning, one of four Atlanta homers on the night. Albies is up to 14 homers on the season in just 86 games, two shy of what he produced over 157 contests in 2025, and his .767 OPS would be his best mark since 2023.
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II Goes deep in win
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 10:21 PM
Harris went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Harris opened the scoring with a two-run shot off Christian Scott in the second inning. The 25-year-old ended June in a 1-for-18 skid but has opened July with hits in three straight games. On the year, he's slashing .296/.330/.495 with 15 homers, 46 RBI, 38 runs scored and five steals across 309 plate appearances.
Matt Olson
Matt Olson Homers twice in win
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 10:18 PM
Olson went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk in Friday's 5-3 win over the Mets.
Analysis: Olson snapped a 16-game power drought with solo shots in the fifth and eighth innings. It marked the second multi-homer game of the campaign for the veteran slugger, who had doubled in three of his past six games entering Friday. For the year, he's slashing .273/.345/.538 with 22 home runs, 54 RBI, 57 runs scored and two steals across 374 plate appearances.
Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias Earns 17th save
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 10:09 PM
Iglesias earned the save in Atlanta's 5-3 win over the Mets, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with one strikeout in the ninth inning.
Analysis: Iglesias entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead and closed things out despite allowing three singles. The veteran closer remains a perfect 17-for-17 in save opportunities this season despite allowing an earned run in three of his past eight outings. He owns a 1.53 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB across 29.1 innings this year and will be heavily leaned on with Robert Suarez (elbow) on the injured list.
Grant Holmes
Grant Holmes Wins in return to rotation
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 10:02 PM
Holmes (5-4) earned the win against the Mets on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk with two strikeouts over five innings.
Analysis: Holmes allowed a two-run homer in the third inning but kept the Mets off the board otherwise, throwing 56 of 82 pitches for strikes with eight whiffs. The 30-year-old has now yielded just two earned runs over his past three appearances, including one in bulk relief, and owns a 3.83 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 71:38 K:BB across 82.1 innings this season. It's currently unclear what his role will be in his next outing.
Jorge Mateo
Jorge Mateo Back in lineup at shortstop
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 2:25 PM
Mateo will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Friday's game versus the Mets.
Analysis: Mateo will make his third start over the last four games. He was out of the lineup for three consecutive contests before that, as Atlanta's shortstop position continues to be a guessing game as to who might start on any given day.
Dominic Smith
Dominic Smith Drives in three in Thursday's loss
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 8:55 AM
Smith went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: The 31-year-old journeyman came to the plate with the bases loaded in the first inning and cleared them with a comebacker that deflected off Dustin May's ankle and went into shallow right field. Smith continues to see consistent playing time at DH against right-handed pitchers, but he's gone 19 straight games without a home run, managing just a .196/.259/.235 slash line over that stretch with two doubles and seven RBI. His declining production could prompt Atlanta to look for a more reliable left-handed power source at the trade deadline.
Ian Hamilton
Ian Hamilton Designated for assignment
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 8:32 AM
Atlanta designated Hamilton for assignment Friday.
Analysis: Hamilton has allowed four runs with a 4:3 K:BB over 4.2 innings in low-leverage appearances out of the Atlanta bullpen this season. The 31-year-old accepted a previous outright assignment to Triple-A, so he could remain in the organization again if he passes through waivers.
Danny Young
Danny Young Reinstated from 60-day injured list
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 8:29 AM
Atlanta activated Young (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday.
Analysis: Coming back from Tommy John surgery, Young was sharp in five rehab outings, posting an 8:4 K:BB while yielding just one hit and one unearned run over 5.1 innings. With a career 78:25 K:BB over 60.2 frames, Young could provide a nice boost to the Atlanta bullpen in a low-leverage role.
James Karinchak
James Karinchak Dispatched to minors
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 8:26 AM
Atlanta optioned Karinchak to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
Analysis: Karinchak was unscored upon in six straight outings before giving up one run in each of his last two appearances. He's being replaced with a fresh bullpen arm.
Anthony Molina
Anthony Molina Rejoins Atlanta bullpen
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 8:23 AM
Atlanta recalled Molina from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
Analysis: Molina has been used primarily as a starter with Gwinnett, so he will provide some length in the bullpen after the team's relievers were knocked around for eight runs in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. The righty has been charged with four runs (three earned) in five innings for Atlanta in 2026.
Andrew McCutchen
Andrew McCutchen Gets minor-league deal from Atlanta
Fri, Jul 3, 2026, 8:13 AM
Atlanta signed McCutchen to a minor-league contract Thursday.
Analysis: McCutchen was released by the Rangers in late May after slashing just .192/.277/.260 across 37 games. The 39-year-old has been assigned to the Florida Complex League for the time being but should report to Triple-A Gwinnett once he's shaken off some rust. McCutchen could eventually get an opportunity in Atlanta as a short-side platoon bat.
Hurston Waldrep
Hurston Waldrep Ambushed in no-decision
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 10:42 PM
Waldrep took a no-decision Thursday against the Cardinals, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in 5.1 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Waldrep gave up all three of his runs in the opening frame, but he was at least able to settle in afterwards and push for a quality start. The 24-year-old right-hander threw 76 pitches in his second major-league outing of 2026, so he may not be fully built up to handle a traditional starter's workload quite yet. Waldrep is contending with Grant Holmes' for a rotation spot going forward, and Thursday's showing might have offered the club enough positive takeaways to hand Waldrep another chance to start next week in Pittsburgh.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim On bench again Thursday
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 3:11 PM
Kim is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.
Analysis: After handing Kim four straight starts, Atlanta has now had him on the bench for three consecutive contests. Jim Jarvis was promoted earlier Thursday and will draw the start at shortstop in the series finale.
Dylan Dodd
Dylan Dodd Snags second hold
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 9:41 AM
Dodd struck out one in a perfect sixth inning Wednesday to record his second hold of the season in a win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The 28-year-old southpaw set down the top of St. Louis' order on 14 pitches (nine strikes), punctuating his performance with a strikeout of Alec Burleson. Dodd is adjusting well to a full-time relief role, albeit a low-leverage one, and through 22 innings over 17 big-league appearances this season he's delivered a 2.45 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB.
First 20-30 player at any level
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 9:37 AM
Hartman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored for High-A Rome on Wednesday.
Analysis: It's a modest single-game line, but the long ball made Hartman the first player this year at any level to reach 20 homers and 30 steals -- and he's done it in just 71 games. The 20-year-old has rocketed up prospect lists this season while producing a .290/.357/.559 slash line that comes with a respectable 22.7 percent strikeout rate. Per Jesse Borek of MLB.com, Ronald Acuna was the last Atlanta minor-leaguer to record a 20-30 campaign in 2017, while Eric Davis with the Reds in 1987 is the only major-leaguer to reach those milestones more quickly in a season since 1900.
Grant Holmes
Grant Holmes Slated to start Friday
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 9:23 AM
Holmes will start Friday's series opener versus the Mets in Atlanta, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Atlanta will plug Holmes back into the rotation after he made his first appearance of the season as a reliever his last time out Saturday, striking out four batters over four shutout innings against the Giants. Per Bowman, Atlanta believes Holmes could prove to be a more valuable asset in the bullpen, where he would be able to work at a higher velocity and lean more heavily on his slider, a pitch that has generated a 41.3 percent whiff rate on the season. A decision on Holmes' role beyond this weekend could hinge on the performance of Hurston Waldrep, who will draw a start Thursday against the Cardinals after Atlanta opted to skip Bryce Elder's turn in the rotation. Elder is expected to rejoin the rotation next week, and if Waldrep fares well against the Cardinals and earns himself an extended leash as a starter, Holmes would likely head back to the bullpen on a more permanent basis.
Hurston Waldrep
Hurston Waldrep Confirmed as starter for Thursday
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 9:08 AM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss confirmed that Waldrep will start Thursday's game against the Cardinals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Waldrep made his 2026 debut with Atlanta last Friday, pitching two innings of relief behind starter Reynaldo Lopez. Both pitchers will be in the rotation this week, as Bryce Elder will have his turn skipped. Though Elder is expected to return to the rotation next week, Waldrep could end up sticking around in a starting role, as Atlanta is contemplating moving Grant Holmes to the bullpen. Waldrep's performance Thursday will likely influence that decision, though the right-hander shouldn't be expected to work more than five or six innings, regardless of how well he's pitching. Since completing his recovery from a Feb. 23 elbow procedure and beginning a rehab stint at the beginning of June, Waldrep hasn't tossed more than 71 pitches or covered more than 4.2 innings in any outing.
Jim Jarvis
Jim Jarvis Back in big leagues
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 8:13 AM
Atlanta recalled Jarvis from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Analysis: Jarvis has had a breakout season this year at Gwinnett, slashing .313/.406/.461 with six home runs, 32 stolen bases and a 46:55 BB:K over 76 games. He was up briefly with Atlanta in May, going 1-for-5 at the plate. Shortstop is Jarvis' main position, and he's expected to start there Thursday versus the Cardinals, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Jarvis would have some fantasy potential -- particularly in the stolen-base department -- if he receives regular playing time, but there's no guarantee that will happen.
Rowdy Tellez
Rowdy Tellez DFA'd by Atlanta
Thu, Jul 2, 2026, 8:08 AM
Atlanta designated Tellez for assignment Thursday.
Analysis: Tellez was with the big club for three weeks but received only one start and 11 plate appearances, going 2-for-10 with a home run. He's likely to pass through waivers and would have the ability to elect free agency at that point.
