Mike Yastrzemski
Mike Yastrzemski Launches first homer
Tue, May 12, 2026, 9:56 PM
Yastrzemski went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.
Analysis: Yastrzemski opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning before delivering the biggest swing of the night in the fifth, launching a two-run homer off Colin Rea to give Atlanta the lead. The long ball was his first of the season and also snapped a 12-game stretch without an extra-base hit, during which he was batting just .185. Yastrzemski is now slashing .214/.276/.291 with four doubles, nine RBI and 16 runs scored across 127 plate appearances.
Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias Grabs seventh save Tuesday
Tue, May 12, 2026, 9:47 PM
Iglesias earned the save Tuesday against the Cubs, striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: Iglesias entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead and made quick work of Chicago's lineup, striking out Ian Happ before retiring the next two hitters to lock down his seventh save in as many opportunities. The veteran right-hander has been dominant to begin the season, holding opponents scoreless across 11.2 innings while piling up 15 strikeouts against just one walk. As long as Atlanta can keep up its offensive surge, Iglesias should continue to thrive in the closer role .
Grant Holmes
Grant Holmes Limits Cubs in no-decision
Tue, May 12, 2026, 9:33 PM
Holmes did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out five over four innings.
Analysis: Holmes looked strong through three innings, allowing only one baserunner, before faltering in the fourth. The only hit he allowed all day came in the inning, a solo homer by Alex Bregman, and he immediately unraveled afterward by issuing three straight walks to load the bases before allowing an RBI groundout. The right-hander has had trouble working deep into games lately, failing to complete six innings in four of his last five starts, while also surrendering five home runs during that stretch. Holmes now owns a 4.35 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 34:21 K:BB across 41.1 innings and is scheduled to face Boston next.
Spencer Schwellenbach
Spencer Schwellenbach Nearing throwing program
Tue, May 12, 2026, 4:25 PM
Schwellenbach (elbow) received a positive update when evaluated last week and is expected to start a throwing program soon, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: The 25-year-old right-hander has already been ruled out for the first half of the season while recovering from surgery to remove bone spurs from his right elbow. Still, starting up a throwing program is a major step in Schwellenbach's rehab progression. He'll likely ramp up his throwing slowly once officially cleared before returning to mound.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Unlikely to return Wednesday
Tue, May 12, 2026, 3:54 PM
Manager Walt Weiss indicated Tuesday Acuna (hamstring) is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring strain but isn't likely to be reinstated from the IL when first eligible Wednesday, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: Acuna was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain and landed on the shelf May 3 and began ramping up his rehab work over the weekend. The 28-year-old doesn't appear too far off from being activated from the injured list, though Weiss also said that it will be "some time" before Acuna is reinstated, per Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan Atlanta.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Facing extended absence
Tue, May 12, 2026, 3:45 PM
Manager Walk Weiss said Tuesday that Murphy (finger) is expected to be sidelined at least eight weeks, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: The veteran backstop landed on the injured list earlier Tuesday due to a fractured left middle finger, which he sustained Sunday in just his fourth game of the season after opening the year on the injured list while rehabbing from shoulder surgery. Murphy's absence will extend into July and could push beyond the All-Star break. Drake Baldwin is poised to work as Atlanta's starting catcher, and the club signed Sandy Leon to fill the backup job.
Jose Azocar
Jose Azocar Back in majors
Tue, May 12, 2026, 12:29 PM
Atlanta selected Azocar's contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Analysis: The 30-year-old outfielder elected free agency after being designated for assignment by Atlanta last week, but he quickly re-signed on a minor-league deal and is now back in the majors. Azocar went 0-for-2 with a stolen base in two games during his prior stay on the big-league roster. He'll provide outfield depth with Ronald Acuna (hamstring) and Eli White (concussion) on the injured list but isn't likely to see regular playing time.
Jim Jarvis
Jim Jarvis Sent to Triple-A
Tue, May 12, 2026, 12:25 PM
Atlanta optioned Jarvis to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Analysis: The 25-year-old was called up last week and will return to the minors after going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in his first two MLB games. Jarvis has an .863 OPS with four homers and 15 steals in 33 games at Gwinnett this year and could get another look in the majors later in 2026 if Atlanta needs more infield depth.
Sandy Leon
Sandy Leon Lands with Atlanta
Tue, May 12, 2026, 12:19 PM
Atlanta signed Leon to a major-league contract Tuesday.
Analysis: The veteran backstop signed with Atlanta as a non-roster invitee in February but failed to make the Opening Day roster and was released in April to pursue an opportunity in the Mexican League. Leon is back on a big-league deal this time since Sean Murphy (finger) was placed on the injured list. Leon should serve as the backup to Drake Baldwin while Murphy is sidelined.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Out with finger fracture
Tue, May 12, 2026, 12:10 PM
Atlanta placed Murphy on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to May 11, due to a fractured left middle finger.
Analysis: The 31-year-old sustained the injury on a catcher's interference when behind the plate during Sunday's game against the Dodgers and will be forced to miss some time. After spending the first month-plus of the season rehabbing from September hip surgery, Murphy is now back on the shelf after going 1-for-14 in four games for Atlanta. Drake Baldwin will operate as the club's clear No. 1 catcher moving forward, and veteran Sandy Leon was signed to serve as the backup while Murphy is out.
Missing in action at High-A
Tue, May 12, 2026, 9:27 AM
High-A Rome placed Carey on the 7-day injured list April 24 with an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: Carey, who won't turn 20 until July, is one of the youngest hitters at High-A and slashed .267/.340/.444 with one home run, one steal and a 14 percent strikeout rate in 12 games prior to the injury. It was a small sample, but Carey cut his groundball rate from 49.3 percent at Single-A to 36.8 percent at High-A, which was leading to a career-best .178 ISO.
Jose Azocar
Jose Azocar Back with Atlanta on MiLB deal
Mon, May 11, 2026, 11:18 AM
Atlanta re-signed Azocar to a minor-league contract Monday.
Analysis: Azocar elected free agency last week rather than accepting an outright assignment from Atlanta, but he's now back in the organization on a new deal. The 29-year-old will give Atlanta some experienced outfield depth at Triple-A Gwinnett.
Eli White
Eli White Sidelined by concussion
Mon, May 11, 2026, 11:02 AM
Atlanta placed White on the 7-day injured list Monday with a concussion.
Analysis: White suffered the injury during Sunday's win over the Dodgers when he crashed into the outfield wall after making a catch. His timetable is uncertain, as it is when anyone is shelved by a concussion, but White will be out for the next week, at minimum. Mauricio Dubon will continue seeing more reps in the outfield while White and Ronald Acuna (hamstring) recuperate.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim Activated ahead of season debut
Mon, May 11, 2026, 10:58 AM
Atlanta activated Kim (finger) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: Kim is ready for his season debut after working his way back from January surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger. The 30-year-old infielder hit .286/.412/.321 with zero home runs, one stolen base and a 6:4 BB:K over nine rehab contests between Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett. Kim is set to take over as Atlanta's primary shortstop. Jorge Mateo had been seeking most of the reps at shortstop lately, as Mauricio Dubon has been needed more in the outfield with Ronald Acuna (hamstring). Mateo will now revert back to a reserve role, and Dubon will be a super utility player once Acuna is back in the fold.
Shining at High-A
Mon, May 11, 2026, 10:40 AM
Gil went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs and a third run scored for High-A Rome on Sunday.
Analysis: The shortstop prospect will turn 20 years old Thursday, but Gil hasn't looked anything like an overmatched teenager in his first look at High-A pitching. Through 31 games this season, he's slashing .305/.403/.508 with six homers, 20 steals in 23 attempts, and an impressive 21:26 BB:K. Atlanta seems likely to challenge him with a promotion to Double-A fairly soon, and Gil should rocket up prospect lists this summer if he keeps flashing five-category upside.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Ramping up activity
Mon, May 11, 2026, 10:35 AM
Acuna (hamstring) took part in agility drills in the outfield during this past weekend's series in Dodger Stadium, Jesus Cano of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Atlanta manager Walt Weiss didn't completely close the door on the superstar outfielder returning from the injured list when first eligible Wednesday, though the skipper noted that Acuna is "just now starting to move around" and still has "a lot of boxes he still needs to check." Acuna hasn't played since May 2, and through 34 games this season, he's posted a disappointing .252/.362/.378 slash line with two home runs and seven steals.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim Poised to return Tuesday
Mon, May 11, 2026, 9:22 AM
Kim (finger) will be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.
Analysis: Kim has completed his rehab assignment as he works his way back from surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger. The 30-year-old slashed .286/.412/.321 with no home runs, one stolen base and a 6:4 BB:K over nine rehab contests between Double-A Columbus and Triple-A Gwinnett. Kim will take over as Atlanta's primary shortstop.
Drake Baldwin
Drake Baldwin Reaches 10-homer mark
Sun, May 10, 2026, 6:21 PM
Baldwin went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: This was Baldwin's 10th homer of the season, three of which have come in May. He's batting .257 (9-for-35) this month, and he's added a 6:11 BB:K over that nine-game sample. Baldwin has cooled off a bit after starting the season at a blistering pace, but he's still providing high-quality performances for a catcher. Overall, he's batting .297 with an .892 OPS, 32 RBI, 35 runs scored and a stolen base across 41 contests. Baldwin could see more time behind the dish if Sean Murphy (finger) misses time after exiting Sunday's game early.
Matt Olson
Matt Olson Adds insurance with homer
Sun, May 10, 2026, 6:18 PM
Olson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers.
Analysis: Olson is up to five homers over nine games in May, though all of them have been solo shots. The first baseman has a total of 14 homers through 41 contests overall, nearly halfway to his total of 29 from each of the last two regular seasons. He's added 36 RBI, 36 runs scored, 15 doubles, one stolen base and a .296/.377/.654 slash line this year while regularly batting in the heart of the order.
Bryce Elder
Bryce Elder Walks four in win
Sun, May 10, 2026, 6:15 PM
Elder (4-1) allowed a hit and four walks while striking out eight over 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Sunday.
Analysis: Elder's four walks were a season high, but that was the only negative in this performance. He kept a scoreless line for the third time this season and ended a stretch of three straight no-decisions. The right-hander is now at a 1.81 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 53:20 K:BB across 54.2 innings through nine starts. Elder has walked at least three batters in each of his last three outings, which is something he'll need to keep in check to avoid regression. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Red Sox.
