Spencer Schwellenbach
Spencer Schwellenbach Will not return in first half
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 4:00 PM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Tuesday that Schwellenbach (elbow) has yet to begin a throwing program and will not make his season debut until after the All-Star break, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: Schwellenbach underwent surgery in February to remove bone spurs from his right elbow. The right-hander is making good progress, per Weiss, but there's no word yet on when he will be cleared for throwing. Schwellenbach was also sidelined for the final three months of the 2025 campaign with a small fracture in his elbow, so the club is proceeding extra cautiously with the hurler's rehab.
Hurston Waldrep
Hurston Waldrep Could be ready in June
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 3:55 PM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Tuesday that Waldrep (elbow) will throw a bullpen session in about a week and could be ready to rejoin the team in June, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: Any timetable is approximate, as Waldrep has multiple boxes he needs to check. The young right-hander is working his way back from an arthroscopic procedure Feb. 23 to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow. Waldrep is currently on the 15-day injured list but could shift to the 60-day IL if Atlanta needs the 40-man roster spot, as he will not be ready to return within the 60-day window.
Raisel Iglesias
Raisel Iglesias Resumes throwing
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 3:51 PM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Tuesday that Iglesias (shoulder) has resumed throwing, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: Weiss added that he expects Iglesias back from the 15-day injured list when first eligible May 5 or shortly after. It's unclear whether Atlanta will ask Iglesias to go out on a brief rehab assignment first. Iglesias landed on the IL a week ago with right shoulder inflammation.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Rejoining rotation this weekend
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 3:36 PM
Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Tuesday that Strider (oblique) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to make his season debut this weekend in Colorado, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: A report earlier Tuesday said that Strider would make one more rehab start, but that turned out to be inaccurate. Weiss did not reveal the specific day Strider would make his season debut, but if he pitches on four days' rest as he has been on his rehab assignment, he'd start Friday. Strider threw 82 pitches over five innings Sunday with Triple-A Gwinnett, so he should be ready for a relatively normal workload against the Rockies. He's missed the first month of the season with a left oblique strain.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Not starting this weekend
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 11:43 AM
Strider (oblique) isn't expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list to make his season debut this weekend in Colorado and could instead continue his rehab in the minor leagues, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.
Analysis: Strider threw 82 pitches over five innings Sunday for Triple-A Gwinnett in his third rehab start, and he's apparently not quite ready to enter the big-league rotation after previously being expected to face the Rockies this weekend. No setback has been reported, so it's possible Atlanta just wants to avoid the right-hander making his season debut at the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field. Strider's first MLB start of 2026 now appears likely to come next week on the road against either the Mariners or Dodgers.
Sean Murphy
Sean Murphy Staying on rehab assignment for now
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 10:08 AM
Murphy (hip) will remain on a rehab assignment with High-A Rome this week, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports.
Analysis: Atlanta wants Murphy to catch back-to-back nine-inning games before it activates the veteran catcher for his season debut, though it's unclear exactly what the target date is for his return. Murphy -- who is just 3-for-23 with a 1:7 BB:K across his first eight rehab contests -- is projected to serve as Atlanta's primary designated hitter and occasional catcher once he's back on the active roster.
Dylan Lee
Dylan Lee Moves to paternity list
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 9:30 AM
Atlanta placed Lee on the paternity list Tuesday.
Analysis: Lee has been an effective high-leverage relief option for Atlanta early in the season with a 1.38 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 13 innings, but he will step away from the team for a few days in order to be with his growing family. He should be back with the club for Friday's series opener in Colorado. Didier Fuentes was called up Tuesday in a corresponding move.
Didier Fuentes
Didier Fuentes Back with big club
Tue, Apr 28, 2026, 9:27 AM
Atlanta recalled Fuentes from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Analysis: He'll give the club some length in the bullpen for the next few days while Dylan Lee is on the paternity list. Fuentes has made one spot start and one long-relief appearance for Atlanta this season, allowing five runs with an 11:2 K:BB over seven innings. The 20-year-old boasts a 2.16 ERA and 20:6 K:BB across 16.2 frames this season with Gwinnett.
Ha-Seong Kim
Ha-Seong Kim Cleared for rehab games
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 10:17 AM
Kim (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Columbus this week, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Analysis: Kim has finally been cleared to play in games following surgery in January to address a torn tendon in his right middle finger. He's basically at the start of spring training, so Kim's rehab assignment should be a lengthy one. Kim will be in line for the bulk of the playing time at shortstop when he returns, though Mauricio Dubon has played well as a fill-in and will still see action at shortstop as part of a utility role.
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II At DH again Sunday
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 10:02 AM
Harris went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in Sunday's win over the Phillies.
Analysis: Making his second straight start at DH, Harris saw a seven-game hitting streak come to an end. The 25-year-old has yet to play defense since picking up a minor quadriceps strain Thursday, but Monday's team off day could provide the time he needs to get back to 100 percent. On the season, Harris is slashing .323/.360/.559 with six homers, two steals, 11 runs and 20 RBI in 27 contests.
Eli White
Eli White Goes yard in Sunday's win
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 9:58 AM
White went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Phillies.
Analysis: The depth outfielder took Aaron Nola deep in the second inning for his second long ball of the season. White has started the last two games in center field while Michael Harris has been limited to DH due to a minor quad issue, but he could head back to the bench as soon as Tuesday, after a team off day Monday. On the season, White is slashing .194/.211/.389 in 38 plate appearances.
Ronald Acuna Jr.
Ronald Acuna Jr. Swipes sixth bag
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 9:55 AM
Acuna went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Phillies.
Analysis: The steal was Acuna's sixth of the season in 29 games, albeit in 10 attempts. While it's encouraging to see the 28-year-old outfielder running more freely -- it took him 95 games to record 10 SB attempts in 2025 -- Acuna's bat hasn't gotten going yet, as he's slashing .239/.356/.358 with two homers, eight RBI and 14 runs.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Piles up seven Ks in rehab start
Mon, Apr 27, 2026, 8:51 AM
Strider (oblique) struck out seven and allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks across five innings Sunday in a rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett.
Analysis: In what was likely the third and final start of his rehab assignment, Strider delivered another strong outing to convince Atlanta that he's ready to return from the 15-day injured list. The 27-year-old built up to 82 pitches (50 strikes) Sunday, inducing 16 whiffs while maxing out at 96.9 miles per hour with his fastball. Assuming his oblique checks out fine following his next bullpen session, Strider will tentatively line up to make his season debut with Atlanta during its upcoming weekend series in Colorado.
Chris Sale
Chris Sale Excellent again in fifth win
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 7:27 PM
Sale (5-1) earned the win Sunday over the Phillies, allowing one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out nine.
Analysis: It was another stellar outing from Sale, as he notched his fifth win and quality start while setting a new season high with nine punchouts. The veteran southpaw has allowed just two runs over 19 innings in his last three starts, lowering his ERA to 2.31 on the year with a 0.91 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB across 35 innings. Sale is tentatively lined up to face the Rockies at Coors Field his next time out.
JR Ritchie
JR Ritchie Set to start Wednesday
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 5:04 PM
Ritchie will draw another start on the mound Wednesday against the Tigers, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Ritchie was exceptional in his major-league debut Thursday against the Nationals, tossing seven innings of two-run ball while striking out seven batters. He will now stick around with the major-league rotation for the time being as Atlanta has decided to shift Reynaldo Lopez to bullpen in order to allow him to fix some mechanical issues. With Spencer Strider (oblique) on the cusp a return from the 15-day injured list, Ritchie will be looking to produce another impressive outing against Detroit in an attempt to remain with the big-league club moving forward.
Martin Perez
Martin Perez Tabbed to start Tuesday
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 4:08 PM
Perez is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Tigers at Truist Park, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The veteran left-hander has been impressive while working as both a starter and long reliever early this season, posting a 2.70 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB over 23.1 innings. Perez will replace Reynaldo Lopez in the rotation Tuesday, though it'll likely be just a spot start since Spencer Strider (oblique) is due back from the injured list in the near future.
Reynaldo Lopez
Reynaldo Lopez Bumped to bullpen
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 4:05 PM
Lopez will be utilized as a reliever going forward while working on some mechanical issues, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The right-hander's 3.74 ERA through five starts this year looks solid, but his 1.43 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB tell a different story. Atlanta will soon be getting back Spencer Strider (oblique) from the injured list, and Martin Perez will pick up a spot start Tuesday versus Detroit before Strider likely enters the rotation next weekend.
Mike Yastrzemski
Mike Yastrzemski On bench Sunday
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 10:35 AM
Yastrzemski is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis: The veteran outfielder will typically sit versus left-handed starting pitchers, but his absence Sunday is his first of the year against a righty (Aaron Nola). Yastrzemski has yet to get on track at the plate this season with a .188/.266/.247 slash line in 94 plate appearances, and his 26.6 percent strikeout rate would be the worst of his eight-year MLB career.
Dominic Smith
Dominic Smith Sitting again Sunday vs. righty
Sun, Apr 26, 2026, 10:31 AM
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis: It's the second straight contest on the bench for Smith, who saw a nine-game hit streak end Saturday when he struck out as a pinch hitter. The 30-year-old batted .364 (12-for-33) with two doubles, two homers and nine RBI during that stretch. Each of his past two absences have come versus right-handed starting pitchers as Atlanta prioritizes keeping Michael Harris' bat in the lineup at DH while he deals with a minor quad strain. The pending return of Sean Murphy (hip) from the IL presents a bigger obstacle to Smith's playing time in the long run.
Michael Harris II
Michael Harris II Back in action Saturday
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 3:08 PM
Harris (quadriceps) is batting fifth and serving as the DH in Saturday's game against Philadelphia.
Analysis: Harris left Thursday's contest against Washington due to left quad tightness and was scratched from Friday's series opener against the Phillies after originally being penciled into the lineup. However, there never seemed to be a concern that the outfielder was dealing with a serious issue, and Harris even doubled as a pinch hitter Friday. Atlanta seems to still be taking a cautious approach by having Harris DH instead of take his usual spot in center field, but all signs point to the 25-year-old being good to go moving forward.
