Austin Wynns
Austin Wynns Outrighted to Triple-A
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:34 PM
Atlanta outrighted Wynns to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.
Analysis: Drake Baldwin (oblique) is back from the injured list, and Atlanta has elected to keep Sandy Leon over Wynns as Baldwin's backup catcher. Wynns will remain in the organization as experienced catching depth at Gwinnett.
Drake Baldwin
Drake Baldwin Reinstated from injured list
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 3:27 PM
Atlanta activated Baldwin (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: Atlanta is idle Monday, so Baldwin will return to the lineup during Tuesday's series opener at home against the Giants. Baldwin has missed almost a month of action while rehabilitating a strained oblique, but he will cleared to rejoin the active roster after playing one rehab contest with Triple-A Sacramento. The 25-year-old was looking like an MVP candidate before getting hurt, having slashed .303/.389/.543 with 13 home runs over 48 games.
Returns from IL
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:53 PM
Triple-A Gwinnett reinstated Burkhalter (back) from its 7-day injured list Monday and assigned him to Double-A Columbus.
Analysis: Burkhalter had been stuck on the IL since the end of spring training due to back spasms, but he's been given a clean bill of health after making four rehab appearances in the lower rungs of the minors. He could eventually rejoin the Gwinnett bullpen later this season, but Burkhalter will first look to knock off some rust in the Southern League.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Facing four-week shutdown period
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:41 PM
Atlanta announced that Strider (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for four weeks following a consultation Monday with Dr. Keith Meister.
Analysis: After he was forced out of his start Friday against the Mets, Strider was diagnosed with right elbow inflammation and landed on the injured list a day later. While an MRI cleared Strider of any structural damage to his twice-surgically-repaired elbow, he'll still need a prolonged period of rest for the inflammation to calm down. Strider will be scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI in mid-July, and if his scan is clear at that time, he'll be able to begin a throwing progression around the All-Star break. Even if his recovery from the elbow injury goes smoothly, Strider looks unlikely to join the Atlanta rotation until early-to-mid-August in a best-case scenario, which could make it tough to justify holding him in most redraft leagues.
Maverick Handley
Maverick Handley Back with Atlanta on minors deal
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 1:33 PM
Atlanta re-signed Handley to a minor-league contract Saturday.
Analysis: Atlanta released Handley on Friday, but he was a free agent for just one day before opting to return to the organization. He'll serve as catching depth at Triple-A Gwinnett while Austin Wynns and Sandy Leon are needed at the big-league level until Drake Baldwin (oblique) and Sean Murphy (finger) return from the injured list.
JR Ritchie
JR Ritchie Entering rotation Wednesday
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 12:32 PM
Ritchie is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Giants in Atlanta, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: After being recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett, Ritchie joined the Atlanta bullpen and made just his second relief appearance since entering the professional ranks in 2022. He ended up piggybacking injured starter Spencer Strider (elbow) in Friday's loss to the Mets, striking out five batters and scattering two hits and two walks over five innings. With Strider landing on the injured list a day later, Ritchie will now be called upon to fill the open spot in the rotation. Strider lacks a clear timeline for a return, so Ritchie should be in line for multiple starts with the big club.
Carlos Carrasco
Carlos Carrasco Re-ups with Atlanta again
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 11:57 AM
Atlanta re-signed Carrasco to a minor-league contract Monday.
Analysis: Carrasco has been designated for assignment by Atlanta four times this season, only to stick around in the organization on a new contract. The 39-year-old holds a 3.00 ERA and 4:1 K:BB over nine innings with the big club this season and will report to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Avoids ligament damage to elbow
Mon, Jun 15, 2026, 11:04 AM
An MRI on Strider's right elbow revealed no ligament damage, and he'll meet with Dr. Keith Meister later Monday before a timeline for his return from the 15-day injured list is established, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The MRI result comes as welcome news, as Strider looks set to avoid another operation on his elbow after requiring Tommy John surgery while in college in 2019 and an internal brace surgery in April 2024. Dr. Meister -- who performed the latter procedure -- will review the MRI results before providing Strider with a road map for his next steps in his recovery from elbow inflammation. Atlanta is expected to have another update on the right-hander's status Tuesday, and a potential timetable for his return from the 15-day injured list could also be provided at that point.
Bryce Elder
Bryce Elder Falls to the Mets
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 3:52 PM
Elder (5-4) took the loss Sunday against the Mets, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out two.
Analysis: The Mets jumped on Elder for four runs in the first inning before the right-hander gave up back-to-back home runs to A.J. Ewing and Marcus Semien to open the fifth. It's the first time that Elder has given up more than one homer in a start this season -- he'd also allow season-highs in both runs and hits. Elder's ERA now sits at 3.15 through 15 starts (88.2 innings) this season with a 1.14 WHIP and 73:27 K:BB. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Brewers.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Still being evaluated
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 2:11 PM
Manager Walt Weiss said Sunday that there's "nothing definitive" on Strider's inflamed right elbow, and he's scheduled to be evaluated by Dr. Keith Meister at some point this week, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: Strider has some familiarity with Meister, who performed his UCL brace procedure in 2024, per Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal, so this is a concerning development even though Atlanta has yet to provide any injury specifics beyond the initial diagnosis. The right-hander landed on the injured list Saturday after exiting Friday's start against the Mets, and his outlook will remain up in the air as he continues to be evaluated.
Jorge Mateo
Jorge Mateo On bench against another righty
Sun, Jun 14, 2026, 12:42 PM
Mateo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
Analysis: With Freddy Peralta on the bump for New York, Mateo will head to the bench for a second straight matchup with a right-handed pitcher after managing just two hits in 14 at-bats with a 1:6 BB:K through the first seven games in June. Atlanta should still be able to find room for the right-handed hitter in the lineup against lefties, but Mauricio Dubon and Ha-Seong Kim look to be prioritized ahead of Mateo at shortstop.
JR Ritchie
JR Ritchie Looks good in long relief
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 9:47 AM
Ritchie gave up two hits and two walks over five scoreless relief innings in Friday's loss to the Mets. He struck out five.
Analysis: The rookie right-hander finished out the game after Spencer Strider (forearm) was pulled following a leadoff walk to MJ Melendez in the bottom of the fourth inning while showing greatly diminished velocity. Strider has already been placed on the IL and is being sent for an MRI on Saturday, and Ritchie's impressive relief performance over 73 pitches (42 strikes) makes him the logical candidate to move into the rotation. Over 30.2 innings in the majors this season, Ritchie has a 3.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 26:18 K:BB.
Matt Olson
Matt Olson Clubs homer No. 20
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 9:41 AM
Olson went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Mets.
Analysis: The first baseman took Cionel Perez deep in the fifth inning, Olson's third homer in the last three games and his 20th of the season -- tying him for fourth in MLB behind Yordan Alvarez (24), Kyle Schwarber (24) and Byron Buxton (21). Through nine games to begin June, Olson is batting .333 (12-for-36) with four home runs, six RBI and nine runs.
Anthony Molina
Anthony Molina Recalled from Gwinnett
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 9:12 AM
Atlanta recalled Molina from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.
Analysis: Molina will return to the majors to give Atlanta's bullpen some extra depth as Spencer Strider (elbow) moves to the injured list. Molina pitched two shutout innings during his lone appearance with the big club May 1 but still carries a 6.82 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across his MLB career.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Lands on IL
Sat, Jun 13, 2026, 9:08 AM
Atlanta placed Strider on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right elbow inflammation.
Analysis: Strider was forced to make an early exit from his start Friday due to arm soreness, and although he's now been confirmed to be dealing with an elbow injury, it remains unknown whether his inflammation is the result of a structural issue. He'll sit out for at least a couple of weeks, and a more accurate return timeline should come out once the team determines the severity of his injury. In the meantime, Anthony Molina will come up from Triple-A Gwinnett to give Atlanta some extra bullpen depth until a fifth starter is needed.
Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider Exits with trainer
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 9:06 PM
Strider was removed from Friday's game against the Mets due to right arm soreness.
Analysis: Strider gave up six runs across the first two innings of the game and was displaying diminished velocity at the start of the fourth, prompting Atlanta's training staff to take him out of the game. It remains unknown what exactly the 27-year-old righty is dealing with, but the team should provide some clarity in the near future.
Hurston Waldrep
Hurston Waldrep Reinstated, sent to Triple-A
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 3:21 PM
Atlanta activated Waldrep (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Friday and subsequently optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Analysis: The right-hander has been working his way back from offseason elbow surgery and made his third minor-league rehab start Thursday -- surrendering four runs across 3.2 innings with Double-A Columbus -- so it's an interesting decision by Atlanta to activate him now rather than simply continuing his rehab assignment in the minors. Waldrep posted a 2.88 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 55:22 K:BB across 56.1 regular-season frames in the big leagues last year and should get another look with Atlanta at some point this summer.
Drake Baldwin
Drake Baldwin Starting rehab assignment
Fri, Jun 12, 2026, 1:06 PM
Baldwin (oblique) will report to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday to begin a rehab assignment, Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
Analysis: The 25-year-old catcher was able to progress to taking live batting practice this week and has now been cleared for game action after recovering from the oblique strain that sent him to the injured list in mid-May. Assuming all goes well with Gwinnett, Baldwin could be back in Atlanta for the start of the team's next homestand, which begins Tuesday versus the Giants.
Martin Perez
Martin Perez Game postponed due to weather
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 7:47 PM
Perez will have his next start pushed back a day after Thursday's contest against the White Sox was postponed due to rain.
Analysis: Perez will likely toe the rubber in Friday's series opener on the road against the Mets. The southpaw has posted a 3.45 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with nine strikeouts over 15.2 innings in his last three outings, and he owns a 4-0 record and 3.09 ERA over 43.2 career innings against the Mets.
Connor Thomas
Connor Thomas Returns from internal brace surgery
Thu, Jun 11, 2026, 4:53 PM
Thomas (elbow) has posted an 0.79 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB over 11.1 innings across six appearances (one start) with Triple-A Gwinnett since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list May 22.
Analysis: Thomas made his MLB debut last season with Milwaukee, which selected him in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft. The 28-year-old southpaw made just two appearances for the Brewers before hitting the shelf with an elbow injury that he ultimately addressed with a season-ending internal brace surgery in late July. After electing free agency over the winter, Thomas joined Atlanta on a minor-league deal in November and has gotten off to a nice start with his new organization since finishing up his rehab from surgery.
