Mon, Nov 2, 2026, 11:22 PM
San Francisco declined Wick's (elbow) club option for the 2027 season Monday.
Analysis: Wick will remain with the organization and is arbitration eligible. He was unable to pitch during the 2026 while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.
Reiver Sanmartin
Reiver Sanmartin Booted from 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 2, 2026, 6:47 PM
Sanmartin was designated for assignment by the Giants on Monday.
Analysis: Sanmartin will head to waivers while also allowing the Giants to clear a spot on the 40-man roster. He appeared in 24 games during the 2026 season, posting a 4.22 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with a 16:7 K:BB across 21.1 innings.
Seth Lonsway
Seth Lonsway Exits 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 2, 2026, 4:23 PM
The Giants outrighted Lonsway to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Analysis: Lonsway reached the majors for the first time this season, permitted three runs (two earned) over 2.1 innings. He held a 5.10 ERA and ugly 61:59 K:BB over 95.1 innings in 2026 at the minor-league level. Lonsway is no longer on the 40-man roster but will stay in the organization.
Joel Kuhnel
Joel Kuhnel Booted off 40-man roster
Mon, Nov 2, 2026, 4:20 PM
The Giants outrighted Kuhnel to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Analysis: Kuhnel has been outrighted before, so he can decline the assignment and elect free agency. The veteran reliever collected a combined 4.40 ERA and 28:18 K:BB across 45 innings with four different teams in 2026.
Andrew Knizner
Andrew Knizner Outrighted to Triple-A
Fri, Oct 30, 2026, 4:19 PM
Knizner cleared waivers Friday and was sent outright to Triple-A Sacramento, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Knizner slashed .219/.288/.356 with two homers, four RBI and eight runs scored across 80 plate appearances in the majors this year while providing San Francisco with depth at catcher. He'll lose his place on the 40-man roster to begin the offseason but could have a chance to win it back during spring training.
Jason Foley
Jason Foley Outrighted to Sacramento
Thu, Oct 29, 2026, 2:53 PM
Foley cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Sacramento, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Foley delivered his least-effective season in the majors after returning from shoulder surgery in mid-July, finishing the year with a 4.15 ERA and 1.50 WHIP alongside a 15:11 K:BB over 26 innings. He'll depart the 40-man roster to begin the offseason, but he figures to have a chance to compete for a bullpen spot during training and could benefit from having an entire offseason to fully recover.
Osleivis Basabe
Osleivis Basabe Outrighted to Triple-A
Thu, Oct 29, 2026, 2:49 PM
The Giants outrighted Basabe to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.
Analysis: Basabe appeared in 46 games for the Giants this season, finishing with a .609 OPS and five long balls. The 26-year-old is now off the Giants' 40-man roster.
Matt Gage
Matt Gage Outrighted off 40-man roster
Thu, Oct 29, 2026, 2:46 PM
The Giants activated Gage (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and outrighted him to Triple-A Sacramento.
Analysis: Gage posted a 5.60 ERA and 22:17 K:BB over 27.1 innings with the Giants this season. He missed the second half with elbow trouble but was given a clean bill of health heading into the winter.
Keaton Winn
Keaton Winn Resuming workouts in November
Tue, Sep 29, 2026, 1:09 PM
Winn (elbow) continues to go through physical therapy and is slated to begin his normal offseason workouts in November, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Winn was sidelined for the last month-plus of the regular season while dealing with right elbow neuritis. Barring any setbacks, he will be ready to roll by the time spring training rolls around.
Blade Tidwell
Blade Tidwell UCL surgery scheduled
Tue, Sep 29, 2026, 1:03 PM
Tidwell will undergo a right elbow UCL repair in mid-October, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury Newsreports.
Analysis: Surgery for the right-hander was the expected outcome, and now it has officially been scheduled. If Tidwell winds up needing a full Tommy John surgery -- which is likely since he's dealing with a high-grade tear -- he'll be sidelined until the 2028 season.
Joel Peguero
Joel Peguero Will face hitters in October
Tue, Sep 29, 2026, 12:57 PM
Peguero (hamstring) has expanded his flat-ground throwing to 105 feet and is schedule to throw live batting practice sessions by late October, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Peguero missed much of the 2026 season with a recurring left hamstring strain, with his last appearance coming in mid-August. However, the reliever appears set for a normal offseason before competing for a bullpen job with the Giants in 2027.
Adrian Houser
Adrian Houser Typical offseason throwing program
Tue, Sep 29, 2026, 12:51 PM
Houser (forearm) is expected to have a normal offseason throwing program and be ready for spring training, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Houser missed the final month-plus of the regular season while dealing with a right forearm strain. He will continue going through physical therapy for now but is expected to begin his offseason throwing at his normal time. Houser posted a 4.02 ERA and 75:34 K:BB over 109.2 innings in 2026 across 16 starts and 10 relief outings.
Matt Gage
Matt Gage Receives clean bill of health
Tue, Sep 29, 2026, 12:45 PM
Gage (elbow) has been fully cleared and will have a normal offseason, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Gage had to be pulled off his rehab assignment Sept. 1 due to renewed discomfort in his left elbow, but he's recovered well since then and heads into the offseason sans limitations. The southpaw held a 5.60 ERA and 22:17 K:BB over 27.1 frames this season.
Willy Adames
Willy Adames Cleared for normal offseason
Tue, Sep 29, 2026, 12:21 PM
Adames (elbow) has been cleared to go through his normal offseason workout routine, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Adames went down with a left (non-throwing) elbow sprain in late August, but he was ramping up workouts toward the end of the regular season and will not have any restrictions over the winter. The veteran shortstop put together a .230/.289/.424 batting line with 21 home runs over 121 games for the Giants this season.
Carson Seymour
Carson Seymour Effective as opener
Sun, Sep 27, 2026, 5:28 PM
Seymour threw a clean first inning Sunday against the Dodgers, striking out one. He didn't factor into the decision.
Analysis: The Giants went with a bullpen game in the season finale, deploying 10 arms in total, and Seymour did his part as the opener. The right-hander yielded mixed results with San Francisco in 2026, so he could begin next season in the minor leagues for more seasoning. Through 31.2 big-league frames, he posted a 4.55 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23:16 K:BB with eight holds plus one save (four chances).
Carson Seymour
Carson Seymour Drawing start in bullpen game
Sun, Sep 27, 2026, 8:58 AM
Seymour is slated to start Sunday's game against the Dodgers in what's likely to be a bullpen day.
Analysis: Seymour made nine starts at Triple-A Sacramento earlier in the season but has made all 24 of his appearances with the Giants to date out of the bullpen. He hasn't recorded more than five outs in any outing since Aug. 15, so the right-hander may be in line for just a 1-to-2-inning start in the season finale.
Matt Wilkinson
Matt Wilkinson Fares well in short start
Sat, Sep 26, 2026, 6:22 PM
Wilkinson took a no-decision Saturday against the Dodgers, striking out two while allowing one run on one hit and one walk in three innings.
Analysis: Mookie Betts took Wilkinson deep in the third inning, but it was an otherwise positive showing for the hurler against a tough lineup. The rookie left-hander has done serviceable work for the depleted Giants -- Saturday's solo homer was his first run allowed in his last four outings (13 frames). He's closing the campaign with a promising 3.58 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 20:5 K:BB over 27.2 innings.
Matt Wilkinson
Matt Wilkinson Drawing another start Saturday
Sat, Sep 26, 2026, 2:14 PM
Wilkinson is slated to start Saturday's game against the Dodgers in San Francisco.
Analysis: Wilkinson will close out the campaign with a second straight turn through the rotation in a rematch with the Dodgers, whom he limited to three hits over five scoreless frames his last time out Sunday. Collectively, the 23-year-old lefty has turned in a 3.65 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB in 24.2 innings through his first seven big-league appearances (five starts).
Seth Lonsway
Seth Lonsway Joins big-league bullpen
Sat, Sep 26, 2026, 1:55 PM
The Giants recalled Lonsway from Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.
Analysis: Lonsway gave up three runs (two earned) over two innings during his MLB debut Aug. 29, but he'll get another opportunity to pitch for the big club as the team beefs up its bullpen depth down the stretch. Yunior Marte was optioned to Sacramento in a corresponding move.
Yunior Marte
Yunior Marte Optioned to Triple-A
Sat, Sep 26, 2026, 1:53 PM
The Giants optioned Marte to Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.
Analysis: The Giants won't need Marte for the rest of the year following his start Friday, so they'll send him down in order to bring in more bullpen depth in the form of Seth Lonsway. The 23-year-old Marte will finish the year with a 4.44 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 24.1 innings after making the jump from Double-A directly to MLB in late August.
