Matt Brash
Matt Brash Blows save opportunity
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 10:48 PM
Brash blew the save Sunday against the Angels, allowing one unearned run while striking out one in one inning.
Analysis: After entering the 10th inning with a one run lead, Brash was charged with a blown save in his first opportunity of the season, as the Angels capitalized on the extra-innings placed runner. Following a successful bunt that moved the runner over, Logan O'Hoppe lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home the tying run. While the 27-year-old has yet to allow an earned run this season and has recorded four strikeouts across his first four appearances, this marked Brash's first slip in a high-leverage spot.
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Struggles in no-decision
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 10:10 PM
Castillo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Angels, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out four over 3.2 innings.
Analysis: Castillo couldn't find a rhythm in this one, allowing at least two baserunners in every inning he worked and exiting before completing four frames for the first time since 2024. The right-hander ran into trouble immediately, allowing a leadoff double to Zach Neto before Jorge Soler brought him home with an RBI single, and the outing didn't improve much from there. Unlike his dominant Opening Day outing in which he tossed six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, Castillo failed to fool hitters Sunday and was consistently pitching under pressure. The 33-year-old will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against Houston, though it presents a tough test against one of the league's most productive offenses early in 2026.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Not starting Sunday
Sun, Apr 5, 2026, 1:53 PM
Donovan (groin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Analysis: The 28-year-old departed Friday's contest due to a groin issue and will be held out of the lineup Sunday for a second straight game. Donovan had medical imaging come back clean, so he could rejoin the starting nine within the next couple days. Leo Rivas is receiving another start at third base Sunday for Seattle.

Brendan Donovan Feeling good, imaging clean
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 7:28 PM
Donovan (groin) said Saturday that he was feeling good and that his imaging came back clean, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Donovan landed awkwardly on the first-base bag Friday while attempting to leg out an infield single, which led to his departure from the contest. He underwent imaging but suggested it was mostly precautionary after he underwent sports hernia surgery at the end of last season. While Donovan was held out of the lineup Saturday, he went through agility work pregame and doesn't currently appear in danger of missing extended time.

Brendan Donovan Undergoes imaging, still day-to-day
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 6:34 PM
Donovan (groin) underwent imaging Saturday and remains day-to-day for the time being, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Seattle's medical staff will go over the results of the imaging, at which point the team will have a better idea of the situation. Per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com, manager Dan Wilson said Donovan was moving around well Saturday after the injury forced the second baseman from Friday's game. Donovan was off to a great start to begin his Mariners career, going 10-for-27 with two homers and a stolen base in eight games.
Brendan Donovan
Brendan Donovan Absent from lineup
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 5:20 PM
Donovan (leg) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game verus the Angels.
Analysis: Donovan injured his left leg while attempting to turn a groundout into an infield single, and the Mariners will hold him out of Saturday's game to give him a chance to recover. Leo Rivas will man the hot corner in Donovan's stead and bat ninth.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Hitless in return to lineup
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 9:03 AM
Crawford went 0-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts in his season debut Friday against the Angels.
Analysis: After missing the first week of the season with a shoulder issue, Crawford was activated from the injured list ahead of Friday's series opener against Los Angeles. Crawford walked in the seventh inning but was picked off first base by Reid Detmers. The Mariners have said Crawford remains the team's everyday shortstop despite signing top prospect Colt Emerson to an eight-year, $95 million extension earlier in the week.
Josh Naylor
Josh Naylor First two RBI of season in win
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 8:51 AM
Naylor went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Friday's 3-1 win over the Angels.
Analysis: Naylor entered play Friday with one hit and zero RBI across 30 plate appearances, so his two-run single in the 10th inning to plate Cole Young and Julio Rodriguez had to have felt good for the first baseman. Naylor struggled through the spring and World Baseball Classic with Team Canada, but perhaps Friday's two-hit, two-RBI game will help him get on track. He's slashing .094/.171/.094 through eight games.
Gabe Speier
Gabe Speier Secures save Friday
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 8:45 AM
Speier picked up his first save of the season Friday against the Angels, allowing one unearned run with no hits or walks while striking out one across one inning.
Analysis: Speier came on to pitch the 10th inning after Andres Munoz pitched a scoreless ninth inning in a tie game. Speier allowed the designated runner, Oswald Peraza, to score following a groundout and sacrifice fly but closed the door by striking out Yoan Moncada. Speier has a 5.40 ERA and 4:0 K:BB across 3.1 innings to begin the season.
Andres Munoz
Andres Munoz Picks up win over Halos
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 8:39 AM
Munoz (1-0) picked up the win Friday against the Angels, striking out three across a scoreless and hitless inning.
Analysis: With the game knotted at 0-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Munoz came on for Seattle and promptly struck out Oswald Peraza, Zach Neto and Mike Trout on 19 pitches. The Mariners plated three runs in the top of the 10th inning, and Gabe Speier came on to close it out for Seattle, securing the win for Munoz. Through three appearances, Munoz has a 6.00 ERA and 6:0 K:BB across three innings. He's still looking for his first save.
Bryan Woo
Bryan Woo Allows one hit in no-decision
Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 8:35 AM
Woo didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Angels, allowing just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts across seven shutout innings.
Analysis: The lone hit Woo allowed was an infield single to Oswald Peraza in the third inning, and Woo eventually erased him by picking Peraza off first base. While Woo dazzled across seven scoreless frames, Reid Detmers nearly matched him, holding the Seattle offense to three hits and four walks across 6.2 shutout innings. The game required an extra inning after going scoreless through nine innings. Woo doesn't have any wins to show for his excellent start to the 2026 campaign; he's registered a 1.38 ERA and 15:2 K:BB across 13 innings. His next start is slated to come Wednesday against the Rangers.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Activated from IL
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 2:45 PM
The Mariners reinstated Crawford (shoulder) from the injured list Thursday.
Analysis: Crawford dealt with shoulder problems throughout spring training, and he landed on the injured list at the start of the regular season after receiving a cortisone shot to treat the injury. After playing a full rehab game at Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday without any issues, he'll now rejoin the active roster and slot in as Seattle's primary shortstop -- at least until the club is ready to promote top prospect Colt Emerson. Ryan Bliss was optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move.
Ryan Bliss
Ryan Bliss Optioned to Triple-A
Thu, Apr 2, 2026, 2:42 PM
The Mariners optioned Bliss to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.
Analysis: His removal from the active roster clears the way for the return of J.P. Crawford (shoulder). Bliss' playing time early on in the season has been sparse, and he has struck out in both of his plate appearances. The 26-year-old missed nearly all of the 2025 season due to injury, so he's probably best served at this juncture getting regular playing time at Tacoma.
George Kirby
George Kirby Serves up three-run homer in loss
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 9:16 PM
Kirby (1-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: The right-hander gave up just one run through five frames, but Paul Goldschmidt's three-run homer in sixth inning left a big mark on Kirby's ledger. Kirby has now gone at least six innings in each of his first two starts of the year, but he's now been taken deep twice already. Kirby will be trying to keep the ball in the yard the next time he takes the mound, which is set come in Texas versus the division-rival Rangers next week.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Begins rehab assignment
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 8:17 AM
Crawford (shoulder) went 0-for-4 with a walk in his first rehab game with Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.
Analysis: Crawford played all nine innings at shortstop in his first game action in three weeks. The veteran infielder's rehab assignment happened to kick off on the same day the Mariners announced a contract extension with top shortstop prospect Colt Emerson, who played third base for the Rainiers next to Crawford on Tuesday. Emerson is expected to remain at Tacoma for now and Crawford could be activated at any time, but the former could eventually push aside the latter when he's ready to take over at shortstop with the big club.
Logan Gilbert
Logan Gilbert Yields five runs in loss
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 2:11 AM
Gilbert (0-1) took the loss against the Yankees on Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out six batters over 5.1 innings.
Analysis: Gilbert retired the first two batters he faced Tuesday, but three straight Yankees hits resulted in a pair of first-inning runs. The right-hander proceeded through the next four frames without falling further behind, but he imploded in the sixth, allowing four of the five batters he faced in that inning to reach base (on two doubles, a single and a walk) before being pulled. Overall, Gilbert threw just 54 of 95 pitches for strikes, and his three walks tied the most he recorded in any game last season. Gilbert did rack up 14 whiffs and now has 13 punchouts across 10.2 innings on the campaign, but he's also carrying a 6.75 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through two starts.
Ryan Loutos
Ryan Loutos DFA'd by Seattle
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 6:29 PM
The Mariners designated Loutos for assignment Tuesday, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: The move opens up a 40-man roster spot for Colt Emerson, who inked an eight-year, $95 million extension earlier Tuesday. Loutos failed to earn a spot on the Mariners' Opening Day roster after allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits across three innings during Cactus League action.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Working in platoon
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 4:27 PM
Canzone is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: The 28-year-old clubbed two solo homers Opening Day but has otherwise begun the season 1-for-7 with a double. Southpaw Max Fried is taking the mound Tuesday for the Yankees, so Canzone will take a seat in favor of Rob Refsnyder as the pair operate in a platoon at designated hitter.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley Remaining in platoon
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 4:21 PM
Raley is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis: Yankees lefty Max Fried is the third southpaw starter the Mariners have faced this season, and Raley has come off the bench in each game. Raley has a four-game hit streak to begin the campaign and has gone 4-for-14 with three homers and six RBI. Victor Robles is starting in right field and batting seventh Tuesday.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Earns win Monday
Tue, Mar 31, 2026, 1:10 PM
Brash (1-0) earned the win Monday over the Yankees, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in a scoreless inning.
Analysis: Brash kept the Yankees off the board in the top of the ninth inning, working around a Giancarlo Stanton one-out double before the Mariners delivered a walk-off win in the bottom half of the frame. Brash has held opponents scoreless through his first two appearances (two innings) this season, allowing two hits and no walks. The right-hander is a key high-leverage option for Seattle ahead of closer Andres Munoz. Brash posted a 2.47 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and 58:18 K:BB in 47.1 regular-season innings last year, totaling four saves and 21 holds.
