Joe Ryan
Joe Ryan Completes side session Tuesday
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 11:21 AM
Ryan (glute) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Ryan tossed all sinkers and fastballs in the session, which represents a step forward in the right-hander's recovery from a mild left glute strain, after he had previously been limited to throwing off flat ground. Manager Derek Shelton came away pleased with how Ryan looked Tuesday but he was careful to note that the bullpen session was the "first step in the progression to getting him back." With that in mind, the Twins may want to see Ryan face live hitters before clearing him to return from the 15-day injured list.
Ryan Jeffers
Ryan Jeffers Resting for day game
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 11:14 AM
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: The Twins will give Jeffers a breather for Wednesday's matinee after he started behind the dish in the first two games of the series. Victor Caratini will handle catching duties and will bat eighth.
Josh Bell
Josh Bell Stays hot with 17th homer
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 2:23 AM
Bell went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over Atlanta.
Analysis: Bell extended his on-base streak to 21 games in the first inning by taking Tyler Mahle deep for a two-run homer, his 17th long ball of the season. He singled in his next plate appearance to record his eighth multi-hit performance of August. Bell has been scorching at the plate this month, batting .362 with four home runs and 13 RBI across 15 games. Through 494 plate appearances this season, he owns a .260 average alongside a .755 OPS.
Byron Buxton
Byron Buxton Not in Tuesday's lineup
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 4:48 PM
Buxton is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: It appears to be a standard rest day for Buxton after returning from the injured list last week and starting the past four games. The 32-year-old has gone 2-for-15 with a double, three walks and a run scored since coming back from a hip impingement.
Bailey Ober
Bailey Ober Lasts 4.1 innings in no-decision
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 11:11 PM
Ober did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over 4.1 innings against Atlanta. He struck out four.
Analysis: Ober threw 62 of 94 pitches for strikes as he was unable to complete five full frames and qualify for the win. Through three starts in August, the soft-tossing right-hander has posted a 5.51 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB across 16.1 innings. In total, the 31-year-old owns a 7-4 record with a 4.62 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 71:26 K:BB in 103.1 innings (19 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to pitch Sunday against San Diego.
Trevor Larnach
Trevor Larnach Idle against southpaw
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 5:56 PM
Larnach is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Analysis: The left-handed-hitting Larnach will retreat to the bench for the second time in three games while the Twins face off against another lefty starter (Martin Perez). Alan Roden will spell Larnach in left field and will bat ninth.
Alex Jackson
Alex Jackson Returns to big club
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 12:11 PM
The Twins selected Jackson's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.
Analysis: Minnesota designated Jackson for assignment Thursday, but after clearing waivers, the 29-year-old will recapture a spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster with Austin Martin (hamstring) heading to the injured list in a corresponding move. Jackson will still be the No. 3 option on the depth chart at catcher behind Ryan Jeffers and Victor Caratini and projects to see limited playing time upon rejoining the Twins.
Austin Martin
Austin Martin Lands on IL with hamstring strain
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 12:08 PM
The Twins placed Martin (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Monday.
Analysis: The severity of the left hamstring strain Martin sustained during Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies isn't yet known, but the 27-year-old will be out of commission for at least the next week and a half. Minnesota called up catcher Alex Jackson from Triple-A St. Paul to take Martin's spot on the 26-man active roster. Martin had opened the season as a near-everyday player for Minnesota, but he's mostly been deployed in the short side of a platoon in the corner outfield for the past two months.
Brooks Lee
Brooks Lee Smacks grand slam Sunday
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 5:42 PM
Lee went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies.
Analysis: Lee blasted his first grand slam of the season to match a season high in RBI on Sunday. The switch-hitting infielder has hit safely in six of his last seven games and logged multiple knocks four times over that span. Through 478 plate appearances, Lee is slashing a career-best .245/.300/.424 with 18 homers, 66 RBI, seven stolen bases and 54 runs scored.
Dean Kremer
Dean Kremer Falls apart in sixth inning
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 5:32 PM
Kremer took a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: It was smooth sailing for Kremer on Sunday until the sixth inning, when the Phillies plated four runs to spoil his otherwise strong outing prior to that point. The right-hander has been a solid addition to Minnesota's rotation overall since coming over at the trade deadline, delivering a 3.12 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB over his first 17.1 innings for the Twins. Kremer is set to carry a season 5.40 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 53:16 K:BB across 53.1 frames into a tough road matchup in San Diego.
Alex Jackson
Alex Jackson Passes through waivers
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 5:20 PM
The Twins outrighted Jackson to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.
Analysis: Jackson ended up clearing waivers after the Twins designated him for assignment Thursday. Since the 30-year-old catcher has been DFA'd before, he'll have the option of electing free agency if he prefers not to report to St. Paul. Before losing his spot on the 40-man roster, Jackson logged 69 plate appearances with the Twins and slashed .303/.333/.409 with one home run, five RBI and 11 runs.
Austin Martin
Austin Martin Strains hamstring Sunday
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 5:06 PM
Twins manager Derek Shelton said that Martin sustained a left hamstring strain in the eighth inning of Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies and will be sent in for an MRI, Aaron Gleeman of Aaron Gleeman.com reports.
Analysis: Martin didn't start but entered Sunday's contest in the top of the eighth as a defensive replacement in left field for Trevor Larnach. With one out in the frame, Martin appeared to pull up lame while pursuing a Luis Arraez line drive down the left-field line, prompting the Twins to pull him from the game immediately. Shelton said the MRI will clarify the severity of Martin's hamstring strain, but even a mild injury could be enough to send the outfielder to the injured list.
Alan Roden
Alan Roden Fades into reserve role
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 1:16 PM
Roden is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis: Though he produced a three-hit effort in his most recent start Wednesday, Roden has unsurprisingly been the odd man out of the lineup following Byron Buxton's return from the injured list Thursday. Roden will hit the bench for a third straight game while the Twins go with Trevor Larnach, Buxton and Luke Keaschall as their starting outfield trio from left to right.
Ryan Kreidler
Ryan Kreidler Moving into utility role
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 1:14 PM
Kreidler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Analysis: Kreidler will hit the bench for the third time in five games as he settles into a utility role following the promotion of top prospect Kaelen Culpepper on Aug. 7. Though he had been swinging a hot bat earlier in the season for Minnesota, Kreidler has fallen back to earth in the second half, slashing just .178/.200/.260 with a 25.3 percent strikeout rate in 25 games since the All-Star break.
Ryan Jeffers
Ryan Jeffers Idle Sunday
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 11:18 AM
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Minnesota's matchup with the Phillies on Sunday.
Analysis: After scoring Minnesota's lone run Saturday, Jeffers will sit out of Sunday's series finale. Victor Caratini will form a battery with Dean Kremer and bat eighth.
Connor Prielipp
Connor Prielipp Shelled in fifth inning
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 9:29 PM
Prielipp (3-6) took the loss against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing eight runs on eight hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: It was perhaps a season-worst outing by Prielipp, who surrendered seven of his season-high eight runs in a disastrous fifth inning. The left-hander has delivered mixed results at best lately, fanning at least five while tossing at least five innings in five consecutive starts but has given up fewer than three runs just once during that span. Prielipp will bring a 5.34 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 94:36 K:BB over 87.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance in San Diego.
Alex Jackson
Alex Jackson DFA'd by Minnesota
Thu, Aug 13, 2026, 10:19 PM
The Twins designated Jackson for assignment Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: With both Ryan Jeffers and Victor Caratini healthy, Jackson is the odd man out on Minnesota's 26-man roster. Jackson has appeared in 29 games for the Twins this season, slashing a respectable .303/.333/.409 with one homer, five RBI, 11 runs scored and a 1:23 BB:K across 69 plate appearances.
Taj Bradley
Taj Bradley Stumbles against Phillies
Thu, Aug 13, 2026, 10:13 PM
Bradley (9-5) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three over four innings.
Analysis: Bradley struggled to navigate Philadelphia's left-handed-heavy lineup from the outset, needing 32 pitches to escape the first inning. Kyle Schwarber did much of the damage, launching a pair of homers off Bradley, including a leadoff shot to begin the game. The right-hander departed with Minnesota trailing 5-1 after matching his shortest outing of the season. Bradley entered Thursday with a 3.76 ERA and had been one of the Twins' more reliable arms as they battle for a wild-card spot. He'll look to rebound in his next scheduled start at home against Atlanta.
German Marquez
German Marquez Latches on with Twins on MiLB deal
Thu, Aug 13, 2026, 3:36 PM
The Twins signed Marquez to a minor-league contract Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Marquez was released by the Padres over the weekend after collecting a 5.26 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 37:24 K:BB over 53 innings covering 10 starts and three relief outings. The 31-year-old will provide the Twins with a depth rotation option at Triple-A St. Paul.
Byron Buxton
Byron Buxton Activated from 10-day IL
Thu, Aug 13, 2026, 1:07 PM
The Twins activated Buxton (hip) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Analysis: Buxton's progress from a right hip impingement was slow going initially, but he got through a full workout this week with no issues to clear the way for his return to action. It's possible the Twins will give him some extra time at designated hitter in order to protect his hip, but fantasy managers will receive a nice boost from being able to re-insert Buxton into their lineup.
