Malik Nabers
Malik Nabers Sitting out joint practices this week
Thu, Aug 20, 2026, 9:12 AM
Head coach John Harbaugh said that Nabers won't participate in the Giants' joint practices with the Dolphins this week, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The news doesn't come as a major surprise, as Harbaugh previously indicated that Nabers first needed to take contact in a more controlled team practice session rather than in a joint practice, where the reps more closely mimic the ones a player would handle during a game. Nabers made his return to team drills Monday, but the Giants appear content to let him build up his workload with a red no-contact jersey until at least next week, at which point he could absorb contact for the first time since tearing the ACL and meniscus in his right knee last October. While Nabers remains unlikely to see any preseason action, he still appears on pace to be ready for the Giants' Week 1 game agaisnt the Cowboys.

Malik Nabers Needs to take contact before game action
Wed, Aug 19, 2026, 9:13 AM
Giants head coach John Harbaugh said after Tuesday's practice that Nabers (knee) will need to take contact before getting cleared to play Week 1 against the Cowboys, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. "He won't go through the rest of the summer in a red [no-contact] jersey," Harbaugh said. "He's going to have to get bumped around and hit and fronted up. You just have to feel that and know how to deal with it to protect yourself."
Analysis: Nabers cleared a major hurdle in his recovery from a torn ACL by taking part in team portions of practice Monday and Tuesday, though he donned the red jersey on both days. Harbaugh noted that Nabers responded well to increasing his overall number of reps from Monday to Tuesday, and the third-year wideout should see his workload gradually increase as the start of the regular season draws closer. The Giants are unlikely to clear Nabers to play in either of their final two preseason games, but assuming he ditches the no-contact jersey at some point during Week 1 prep (or before then), he's expected to be available for the regular-season opener.
Devin Singletary
Devin Singletary Could be squeezed for snaps
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:08 PM
Singletary could face an uphill battle to make the Giants' Week 1 roster after the team signed Najee Harris on Tuesday, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Analysis: New York already seemed to be leaning towards a backfield committee with Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Singletary all working with the offensive starters during the team's preseason opener last Saturday, but Harris potentially adds another running back to the mix once he proves he's fully recovered from an Achilles tear. Singletary was third on the depth chart prior to the signing, and a healthy Harris can handle any role he can, but with a much higher ceiling. Singletary signed a re-worked deal for 2026 in March to stay with the team, but that won't guarantee him a significant role in the offense.
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. More competition in backfield
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:07 PM
Tracy will face more competition for snaps and touches after the Giants signed Najee Harris on Tuesday, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Analysis: New York already seemed to be leaning towards a backfield committee with Cam Skattebo, Tracy and Devin Singletary all working with the offensive starters during the team's preseason opener last Saturday, but Harris potentially adds another running back to the mix once he proves he's fully recovered from an Achilles tear. Tracy seems to have a clear path to a passing-down role, but Harris has a three-down resume from his time in Pittsburgh, including a 74-catch season in 2021 as a rookie, so he'll be a threat to all three incumbents. Tracy has produced a 74-572-3 line on 101 targets over his first 32 regular-season NFL games.
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo Backfield getting crowded
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:06 PM
Skattebo gained more competition for snaps and touches Tuesday when the Giants signed Najee Harris, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Analysis: New York already seemed to be leaning toward a backfield committee with Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary all working with the offensive starters during the team's preseason opener last Saturday, but Harris potentially adds another running back to the mix once he proves he's fully recovered from an Achilles tear. Skattebo remains at the top of the depth chart, but given his own health concerns after his rookie season was cut short by an ankle injury that required surgery, his workload could be scaled back from 20.8 touches per game he averaged in the five weeks before getting hurt.
Dante Miller
Dante Miller Reverts to Giants' IR
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 6:14 PM
Miller (groin) reverted from waivers to the Giants' injured reserve list Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Analysis: Miller was not claimed by another team after getting waived with a groin issue Monday, so now he's on track to spend the entire 2026 season on IR. His last regular-season action came back in 2024, when he played eight total snaps over two games.
Tending to injury
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 6:09 PM
Hood (undisclosed) did not participate at the Giants' training camp practice Tuesday, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Analysis: Per Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Hood was being checked on by trainers during Monday's practice session, but the exact nature of the issue is still unknown. As long as he remains unavailable, 2025 seventh-rounder Korie Black could be in line to see an uptick in reps on the boundary.
JuJu Smith-Schuster
JuJu Smith-Schuster Will be released by Giants
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 1:30 PM
The Giants are expected to release Smith-Schuster (knee), Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The impending signing of veteran RB Najee Harris necessitates a corresponding transaction, and Smith-Schuster's roster spot appears to be in danger. Smith-Schuster has been dealing with a knee injury for nearly two weeks that sidelined him for Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, so it remains to be seen if New York will cut him with some sort of injury designation.
Najee Harris
Najee Harris Signing with Big Blue
Tue, Aug 18, 2026, 11:15 AM
Harris (Achilles) signed a one-year deal with the Giants on Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The Giants were clearly convinced of Harris' progress in his Achilles rehab after the veteran visited with the team on Monday. He's now set to join the backfield headlined by Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy. Harris is well-regarded for his blitz pickup and short-yardage ability, which could complicate the snaps projection for the Giants' young backfield duo even if Harris himself is not a featured part of the offense.
Jake Haener
Jake Haener Catches on with Giants
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 5:44 PM
The Giants signed Haener to a contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Haener worked out for the Giants in late July after he was let go by the Chiefs in early May. He'll now have the opportunity to compete against Brandon Allen for the QB3 job over the last couple of weeks of training camp. Haener last saw regular-season action in 2024 with the Saints, when he appeared in eight games (one start) and completed 18 of 39 passes for 226 yards, one touchdown and one interception while turning 11 carries into 22 yards.
Malik Nabers
Malik Nabers Works in team drills for first time
Mon, Aug 17, 2026, 2:47 PM
Nabers (knee) logged reps in 11-on-11 drills while donning a red non-contact jersey during Monday's practice, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Previously, Nabers' hadn't worked in full-speed live team drills, but he expanded his workload to that context Monday for the first time since tearing the ACL in his right knee Week 4 of last season. It's a another step in the right direction for Nabers, but he presumably will need to stack days with 11-on-11 drills and also ditch the non-contact jersey before the Giants will consider allowing him to suit up in games.
Placed on reserve/retired list
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 9:44 PM
Webb (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/retired list by the Giants on Sunday, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Webb was signed by New York after being let go by the Broncos last week, but he has now decided to retire after suffering an undisclosed injury. The Giants have retained the cornerback's rights, so if he unretires, Webb will return to New York.
Plays in Saturday opener
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 6:00 PM
Golston logged two solo tackles during Saturday's preseason opener against the Vikings.
Analysis: Golston played 31 percent of the defensive snaps for the Giants in the contest. The backup weakside linebacker had a solid showing, recording a solo tackle on 11 percent of his defensive snaps. The 28-year-old seems to have fully recovered from the head injury he suffered Monday and should be all set to play in next Saturday's preseason showdown with the Dolphins.
Dante Miller
Dante Miller Suffers groin injury
Sun, Aug 16, 2026, 4:03 PM
Miller suffered a groin injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Coach John Harbaugh said there "might be a situation there" regarding Miller's health. While there is no official timeline for the running back's return, Harbaugh's comments imply that he may need to miss significant time. If Miller does have a severe issue, he is a strong candidate for season-ending injured reserve, in which case the Giants would likely look to free agency to find another depth rusher for the remaining preseason games.
Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields Hauls in score in preseason opener
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 10:12 PM
Fields caught all three of his targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: The rookie wideout needed every inch of his 6-4 frame on the Giants' lone TD of the afternoon. Early in the second quarter, Jaxson Dart got flushed out of the pocket and tossed up an off-balance 15-yard pass into the end zone that Fields skied to snag over 5-10 linebacker Ivan Pace in coverage. Fields, a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has a clear path to the No. 2 receiver job in New York, with veteran holdover Darius Slayton and former Steeler Calvin Austin as his main competition. Standing out as a red-zone threat to complement Malik Nabers might be his best way to win it.
Isaiah Likely
Isaiah Likely Two grabs in preseason loss
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 10:04 PM
Likely caught both his targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: The fifth-year tight end signed a big three-year deal in March to follow coach John Harbaugh over from the Ravens, and QB Jaxson Dart looked Likely's way for third-down conversions on both his drives before the Giants' starters left the contest. It's an encouraging start to the duo's chemistry, and Likely could wind up being Dart's go-to option to move the sticks with wideout Malik Nabers drawing the eyes of the secondary as the top downfield threat. That said, Likely has never topped 42 catches or 477 yards in an NFL season, so it's not clear if he has the physical upside to become an elite fantasy option at tight end.
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. Just two touches in preseason opener
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 9:58 PM
Tracy carried the ball twice for five yards in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings. He failed to catch his only target.
Analysis: The Giants' starters on offense played just two possessions in their preseason opener, but the backfield wound up being a three-way committee as Tracy, Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary all mixed in. Tracy wound up having the worst day of the trio, as Skattebo managed 19 yards on four carries while Singletary also had four touches, including a 40-yard reception from Jameis Winston on a 3rd-and-23 early in the second quarter that helped set up New York's only TD of the day. Skattebo stands at the top of the depth chart, with Tracy expected to be the primary passing-down option, but Saturday's usage at least hints that their roles and volume may not be so clear-cut under new coach John Harbaugh.
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart Plays two series in preseason opener
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 9:50 PM
Dart completed three of four passes for 26 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: The second-year QB got the start in the Giants' exhibition opener and handled the first two possessions, finishing the second with an off-balance 15-yard touchdown toss to rookie wideout Malachi Fields as Dart scrambled out of the pocket to avoid pressure. Dart didn't pick up any yards on the ground, continuing a focus on reining in the reckless playing style that led to concussion issues in 2025. He should still do damage with his legs once the regular season begins after gaining 487 rushing yards and nine TDs last year, but with more skill-position talent around him on the roster and better protection from an upgraded offensive line, Dart may not feel compelled to scramble as often in 2026.
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo Starts preseason game, takes four carries
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 1:37 PM
Skattebo started Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, taking four carries for 19 yards over the first two drives.
Analysis: Tyrone Tracy lined up with the starters in warmups, but Skattebo got the nod come game time and took two carries for seven yards on the first two snaps. Tracy then had a carry and a target (for no gain) later on the opening drive, which ended when his missed block got QB Jaxson Dart thrown to the turf. Dart returned for the second drive, handing off to Devin Singletary on the first two plays. Skattebo then subbed in for carries of five and seven yards on back-to-back plays before giving way to Tracy (and then Singletary) for the rest of the series Dante Miller and Eric Gray then took over backfield work for the rest of the half. Sharing first-team snaps with two other RBs may not seem encouraging for Skattebo's fantasy value, but he did have the best afternoon of the trio in his first game back from major surgery. He'll likely get a larger share of the workload come Week 1.
Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart Returns to field after brief exit
Sat, Aug 15, 2026, 12:45 PM
Dart (undisclosed) was cleared to return to Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Dart was briefly evaluated in the blue medical tent after taking a bit hit from Jay Ward. It was a quick check by trainers, as Dart was given the green light to return and proceeded to throw a 15-yard touchdown pass to rookie Malachi Fields.
