Connor Joe
Connor Joe Dispatched to Triple-A
Fri, May 22, 2026, 11:45 AM
The Mariners optioned Joe to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.
Analysis: With Victor Robles (pectoral) back from the injured list, Joe loses his spot on the 26-man roster. Joe has slashed .182/.308/.333 with one home run, three RBI, two runs scored, two stolen bases and a 6:11 BB:K across 39 plate appearances with Seattle.
Victor Robles
Victor Robles Activated from injured list
Fri, May 22, 2026, 11:42 AM
The Mariners activated Robles (pectoral) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
Analysis: In a corresponding move, Seattle optioned Connor Joe to Triple-A Tacoma. Robles hasn't played at the big-league level since April 6 due to a strained right pec. He appeared in 12 games with Tacoma on a rehab assignment and slashed .256/.389/.349 with four doubles, seven RBI, 10 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 9:13 BB:K across 54 plate appearances. He's likely to see most of his at-bats against lefties with the Mariners.
Gabe Speier
Gabe Speier Begins rehab assignment
Thu, May 21, 2026, 8:40 AM
Speier (shoulder) began a rehab assignment with High-A Everett on Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits, including two home runs, over one inning. He struck out two.
Analysis: It's not the result Speier was looking for in his first game action in three weeks, but he did notch a couple strikeouts. The Mariners have not revealed a target date for Speier's activation from the 15-day injured list, but as long as he bounces back well, he could join Seattle for the start of its road trip Friday.
Jhonny Pereda
Jhonny Pereda Smacks first MLB homer
Wed, May 20, 2026, 8:01 PM
Pereda went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Making just his sixth start this season, Pereda led off the seventh inning with a 392-foot blast off Sean Newcomb, his first major-league home run, to put the Mariners ahead 3-2. While the 30-year-old Pereda has been used sparingly in the majors, he swung the bat well with Triple-A Tacoma this year, slashing .321/.414/.417 with a pair of homers across 25 games. Pereda should continue to back up Mitch Garver while Cal Raleigh (oblique) is sidelined.
Randy Arozarena
Randy Arozarena Homer, two steals in win
Wed, May 20, 2026, 7:18 PM
Arozarena went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, three total runs scored and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the White Sox.
Analysis: After swiping his 13th and 14th bases of the season earlier in the contest, Arozarena gave the Mariners some breathing room with a two-run homer off Jordan Hicks with two outs in the seventh inning, extending the lead to 5-2. It's Arozarena's fifth homer this season and just his second in his last 18 games, though he has gone 21-for-65 (.323) in that span. Overall, the outfielder is slashing .302/.393/.467 with 21 RBI and 36 runs scored across 214 plate appearances.
Jose A. Ferrer
Jose A. Ferrer Notches third save
Wed, May 20, 2026, 7:03 PM
Ferrer earned the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox, allowing a run on one hit while striking out three in the ninth inning.
Analysis: Chicago made things interesting in the ninth inning after Randal Grichuk launched a home run off Ferrer to lead off the frame, cutting Seattle's lead to 4-3. However, the left-hander would rebound and strike out the subsequent three batters he faced, sealing a one-run victory and his third save this season. Ferrer, who got the save chance after Andres Munoz pitched in the Mariners' previous two contests, sports a 1.90 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP and 22:3 K:BB across 23.2 innings this season.
Emerson Hancock
Emerson Hancock No-decision vs. White Sox
Wed, May 20, 2026, 6:58 PM
Hancock did not factor into the decision in Seattle's 5-4 win over the White Sox on Wednesday. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings.
Analysis: It's just the third time in 10 starts this year that Hancock's failed to make it through six innings. While he failed to come away with the win Wednesday, Hancock delivered another solid outing overall despite matching a season high with three walks allowed. His ERA sits at 3.07 through 58.2 innings this year with a 1.06 WHIP and 60:13 K:BB. Hancock's tentatively lined up to face the A's on the road his next time out.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Scratched with triceps injury
Wed, May 20, 2026, 1:31 PM
Crawford was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to a sore triceps, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Crawford said that his triceps was bothering him while he attempted to play catch, and with a team off day on tap Thursday, the Mariners opted to hold him out of the lineup for the series finale to afford him some extra rest. According to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com, Crawford continued to take part in pregame defensive work after being scratched, so he could be available off the bench Wednesday, if needed. Crawford will likely return to the starting nine for Friday's series opener in Kansas City.
Mitch Garver
Mitch Garver Idle Wednesday
Wed, May 20, 2026, 1:21 PM
Garver is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Jhonny Pereda will get the nod behind the plate Wednesday while he and Garver continue to share time at catcher in the absence of Cal Raleigh (oblique), who was placed on the injured list last Thursday. Garver recently overcame a minor back issue of his own, so it's possible that he'll take on a larger share of the catching duties from Pereda once he's further removed from that injury.
Robinson Ortiz
Robinson Ortiz Returns to Triple-A
Wed, May 20, 2026, 11:50 AM
The Mariners optioned Ortiz to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old lefty received his first call to the big leagues Monday but didn't get the chance to make his MLB debut during his two-day stay with Seattle. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen to righty Matt Brash (lat), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.
Matt Brash
Matt Brash Rejoins Seattle bullpen
Wed, May 20, 2026, 11:47 AM
The Mariners reinstated Brash (lat) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Analysis: Seattle optioned left-hander Robinson Ortiz to Triple-A Tacoma to make room on the active roster and in the bullpen for Brash, who had been shelved since May 1 due to right lat inflammation. He was cleared to rejoin the Mariners after a pair of rehab appearances with Tacoma, during which he posted a 4:2 K:BB while not allowing a hit over 1.2 innings.
Luke Raley
Luke Raley On bench versus southpaw
Tue, May 19, 2026, 4:22 PM
Raley is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox.
Analysis: The White Sox have southpaw Anthony Kay starting Tuesday, so the left-handed bat of Raley will begin the game from the bench. Connor Joe has the start in right field and is batting sixth.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford Taking seat against lefty
Tue, May 19, 2026, 4:17 PM
Crawford is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox.
Analysis: The White Sox are starting southpaw Anthony Kay, so the left-handed bat of Crawford will take a seat. Colt Emerson has the start at short and is batting ninth.
Dominic Canzone
Dominic Canzone Idle versus lefty
Tue, May 19, 2026, 4:07 PM
Canzone is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the White Sox.
Analysis: The White Sox are sending southpaw Anthony Kay to the mound to start, so the left-handed-hitting Canzone will take a seat to begin the game. Rob Refsnyder starts as the designated hitter, batting leadoff.
Bryce Miller
Bryce Miller Will be piggybacked Tuesday
Tue, May 19, 2026, 12:45 PM
Miller will start Tuesday's game against the White Sox and will be piggybacked by Luis Castillo out of the bullpen, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Miller and Castillo both made their own starts last week following the former's return from the injured list, but the two will work in tandem Tuesday while the Mariners condense their rotation from six to five. Mariners manager Dan Wilson hasn't provided an indication of how the innings will break down between the two pitchers, but after covering 5.1 frames in Houston last Wednesday in his 2026 big-league debut, Miller could work deep enough into his start against Chicago to qualify for a win. The Mariners will likely see how both Miller and Castillo fare Tuesday before determining whether to keep the piggyback arrangement in place the next time the fifth spot in the rotation comes up.
Recovers from forearm strain
Mon, May 18, 2026, 11:15 PM
Perez (forearm) was activated from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.
Analysis: Perez got off to a slow start to 2026 after being diagnosed with a forearm strain. He's since completed a rehab assignment and returned to Double-A Arkansas, where he's allowed three runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out three over two innings (two appearances).
Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo Working as bulk reliever Tuesday
Mon, May 18, 2026, 7:30 PM
Castillo is expected to work as the primary reliever Tuesday against the White Sox, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Bryce Miller will draw the start and will likely work as long as he's effective, and then it'll be up to Castillo to take the mound. This will mark the right-hander's first relief appearance of his MLB career. It remains to be seen whether Castillo will remain in the bullpen going forward, but for the time being, it appears he's the odd man out of the starting rotation following Miller's return from the injured list.
J.P. Crawford
J.P. Crawford In Seattle lineup
Mon, May 18, 2026, 5:11 PM
Crawford (triceps) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Monday's game versus the White Sox.
Analysis: Crawford had to depart Sunday's game against the Padres after being struck in the right triceps by a pitch. However, he managed to escape with merely a contusion and will not have to miss a start.
Brennen Davis
Brennen Davis Added to roster and optioned
Mon, May 18, 2026, 4:37 PM
The Mariners selected Davis' contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.
Analysis: Davis could have opted out of his minor-league contract, but the Mariners have elected to add the outfielder to their 40-man roster to prevent that from happening. The 26-year-old is sitting on a .281/.394/.548 batting line with eight home runs and a 20:38 BB:K over 38 contests with Tacoma this season. Davis has yet to appear in a major-league game.
Leo Rivas
Leo Rivas Optioned to Tacoma
Mon, May 18, 2026, 4:34 PM
The Mariners optioned Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.
Analysis: Rivas had been in the lineup for only four of the Mariners' past 10 games. The slick-fielding infielder has managed just a .131/.263/.172 batting line in 38 contests for Seattle this season.
