Cole Carrigg
Cole Carrigg Continues to impress
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 3:46 AM
Carrigg went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three runs and two RBI in an extra-innings loss to the Dodgers on Monday.
Analysis: Carrigg showed no signs of intimidation in his first career game against the reigning back-to-back champs, as he logged his first MLB three-hit performance. The talented rookie also came through in the clutch, clubbing a two-run double with two outs in the top of the ninth inning off Dodgers closer Tanner Scott to tie the score. Carrigg has been outstanding as a big-leaguer so far, slashing .309/.385/.593 with four home runs, five doubles, three triples, 21 runs, 21 RBI, two stolen bases and an 11:19 BB:K through 25 games.
Kyle Freeland
Kyle Freeland Drilled by Dodgers
Tue, Jul 7, 2026, 3:30 AM
Freeland allowed six runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out two batters over five innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Monday.
Analysis: Freeland kept Los Angeles out of the scoring column for two frames until Shohei Ohtani tagged him for a two-run homer in the third. That began a rough stretch for the left-handed hurler, who gave up four more runs on five hits in the fourth. Freeland departed after five innings in line for the loss, but a late Colorado rally took him off the hook. Nonetheless, it was the third time across Freeland's past five starts that he's surrendered six runs, and he's posted an ugly 6.83 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP despite a sterling 25:2 K:BB over that span.
Edouard Julien
Edouard Julien Heading to bench versus lefty
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 3:52 PM
Julien is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: Though he'll head to the bench for the second time in three games while the Rockies face off against another lefty starter (Eric Lauer), the left-handed-hitting Julien appears to have earned himself a regular spot in the lineup versus righties. Over his last six games, Julien has reached base at a .481 clip while recording five hits, eight walks and nine runs and two RBI.
Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak Idle against southpaw
Mon, Jul 6, 2026, 3:49 PM
Moniak is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.
Analysis: The Rockies will send the left-handed-hitting Moniak to the bench while southpaw Eric Lauer toes the rubber for the Dodgers. With Moniak out of the lineup, the Rockies will go with Troy Johnston in the designated-hitter and Jake McCarthy, Cole Carrigg and Tyler Freeman as their starting outfield trio.
TJ Rumfield
TJ Rumfield Racks up three hits in win
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:13 PM
Rumfield went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Rumfield has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games, a span that includes eight multi-hit efforts. However, he's now gone 13 contests without a home run, matching his longest power drought of the year. The first baseman is batting .301 with an .874 OPS, 12 homers, 47 RBI, 42 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples and no stolen bases over his first 88 big-league games. As long as he's consistent at the plate, he has little chance of losing out on a near-everyday role.
Kyle Karros
Kyle Karros Hits go-ahead homer
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:09 PM
Karros went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Karros delivered the go-ahead blast in the eighth inning, and it ended up being the decisive play of the game. Over his last 13 games, he's gone 14-for-39 (.359) with three homers and nine RBI. For the season, the third baseman is batting .263 with a .786 OPS, seven homers, 29 RBI, 44 runs scored, 16 doubles, two triples and three stolen bases over 86 contests.
Jordan Romano
Jordan Romano Picks up first save with new team
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:07 PM
Romano allowed a hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Giants.
Analysis: This was Romano's second appearance with the Rockies after his promotion Saturday. The veteran right-hander has five saves on the year -- he logged four for the Angels (and still leads that team in saves) before he was designated for assignment and released in late April. The Rockies' bullpen situation is far from settled, so Romano should have a chance to factor into the closer committee. He's posted an 8.10 ERA and 16:6 K:BB over 10 innings this season.
Tanner Gordon
Tanner Gordon Serves up four homers
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:04 PM
Gordon allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Sunday.
Analysis: Gordon served up four home runs, which accounted for all of the runs on his line. The right-hander has given up 10 runs over 10 innings since returning from a hip inpingement. He's posted an 11:2 K:BB in that span, and both starts have come at Coors Field, which likely explains some of his struggles. Overall, Gordon has a 6.95 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 46:10 K:BB through 45.1 innings over 11 games (four starts). He's tentatively projected to make his next start in a road rematch versus the Giants.
Brenton Doyle
Brenton Doyle Pulled off rehab assignment
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 4:33 PM
The Rockies returned Doyle (oblique) from his rehab assignment Sunday, but he remains on the 10-day injured list.
Analysis: Placed on the IL on May 21 due to a left oblique contusion, Doyle made enough progress in his recovery to resume playing in games for Triple-A Albuquerque on June 23. He went 7-for-22 with one home run and one stolen base over six contests, but he tweaked his left groin last weekend and then aggravated the injury again Saturday. Now back in Denver, Doyle is scheduled to undergo further evaluation from the Rockies' medical staff before the team determines a treatment plan. Doyle will likely remain on the shelf through at least the All-Star break.
Jose Quintana
Jose Quintana Set to play catch
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 4:29 PM
Quintana (elbow) is scheduled to play catch Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: The veteran left-hander has been building up his arm strength by throwing weighted balls, clearing the way for him to play catch for the first time since suffering an elbow sprain in late May. Quintana will be eligible to be reinstated from the injured list in late July, but he'll likely need more time to ramp up to MLB readiness.
Sean Sullivan
Sean Sullivan Back to Triple-A after spot start
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 4:28 PM
The Rockies optioned Sullivan to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.
Analysis: Colorado summoned Sullivan from Triple-A on Saturday to make a spot start in place of Tomoyuki Sugano, who was unable to recover from his back spasms as quickly as anticipated and was placed on the injured list. Sullivan dropped to 0-3 in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Giants, serving up six earned runs on 12 hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He'll now head back to Triple-A and give up his spot on the active roster to right-hander TJ Shook, who was recalled from Albuquerque to provide the Rockies with extra coverage in the bullpen heading into Sunday's series finale.
TJ Shook
TJ Shook Joins big-league bullpen
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 4:10 PM
The Rockies recalled Shook from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Colorado optioned left-hander Sean Sullivan to Triple-A to open up a spot on the active roster and in the bullpen for Shook. The 28-year-old right-hander was previously up with the Rockies for a week in early June, making three appearances while allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks across 3.2 innings.
Tyler Freeman
Tyler Freeman Heading to bench Sunday
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 2:44 PM
Freeman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Freeman will hit the bench Sunday after he started in four of the previous five games while 2-for-13 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Though he's not fully locked in as an everyday player, Freeman should continue to handle at least a part-time role for the Rockies while he's maintained a serviceable .285/.376/.358 batting line (98 wRC+) versus right-handed pitching this season.
Cole Carrigg
Cole Carrigg Receiving afternoon off
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 2:41 PM
Carrigg is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Carrigg will hit the bench for the series finale after he had started in the Rockies' past three games while going 5-for-11 with a home run, two triples, one walk, eight RBI and five runs. Jake McCarthy will receive the nod in center field Sunday, but Carrigg has likely solidified his spot as a near-everyday player in the Colorado lineup after producing a .951 OPS through his first 23 games in the big leagues.
Willi Castro
Willi Castro Heading to bench again Sunday
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 2:37 PM
Castro is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Castro will head to the bench for the second time in the series and for the fourth time in seven contests. Since busting out with a two-homer, seven-RBI effort June 14 against the Athletics, Castro is slashing .224/.286/.310 with a 31.7 percent strikeout rate over his subsequent 15 contests. Castro's lackluster production of late has opened the door for Edouard Julien and Kyle Karros to take on more playing time at second and third base, respectively.
Hunter Goodman
Hunter Goodman On base four times
Sun, Jul 5, 2026, 8:29 AM
Goodman went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored Saturday against the Giants.
Analysis: Goodman has had a strong homestand, with Saturday's performance giving him three multi-hit performances in the last five games. He's also popped two homers, paired with two doubles, three RBI and five runs scored in that span. This stretch continues an excellent season for Goodman, as he's set to post career-best counting stats in every fantasy category.
Seth Halvorsen
Seth Halvorsen Placed on 15-day IL
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 5:54 PM
The Rockies placed Halvorsen on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to July 1, due to right shoulder inflammation.
Analysis: Halvorsen's most recent call-up to the big club didn't go well, as he yielded four runs on seven hits with a 1:1 K:BB over 2.2 innings spanning three appearances. He'll now be sidelined at least through the All-Star break because of a shoulder issue. Starter Tomoyuki Sugano (back) also landed on the IL on Saturday, while Sean Sullivan was called up from Albuquerque and veteran reliever Jordan Romano had his contract selected from the same Triple-A club.
Jordan Romano
Jordan Romano Summoned to Colorado
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 5:48 PM
The Rockies selected Romano's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Analysis: Romano inked a minor-league contract with Colorado in early May and has since been throwing for Albuquerque. Over nine appearances with the Triple-A club, he posted a 4.15 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and 10:0 K:BB with one save over 8.2 innings. Though Romano struggled to a 10.13 ERA and 2.12 WHIP at the outset of the season while with the Angels, he did log four saves (in six chances) and has registered 117 career regular-season major-league saves. As such, he could get an opportunity to finish games for a Colorado bullpen that doesn't currently have a clear-cut closer.
Tomoyuki Sugano
Tomoyuki Sugano Lands on IL due to back spasms
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 5:28 PM
Colorado placed Sugano (back) on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to July 1.
Analysis: Sugano was slated to pitch Saturday after having a few extra days to deal with a finger injury. While that issue appears to be in the rearview mirror, the right-handed hurler recently developed back spasms that are serious enough to result in a stint on the IL. Sean Sullivan was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday to replace Sugano in the rotation.
Sean Sullivan
Sean Sullivan Officially recalled ahead of start
Sat, Jul 4, 2026, 5:23 PM
The Rockies recalled Sullivan from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Analysis: Sullivan was optioned to Albuquerque on Tuesday, but he's right back up with the big-league club to make a start in place of Tomoyuki Sugano, who was placed on the 15-day IL due to back spasms in a corresponding move. Sullivan has struggled during his time with the big-league club this season, recording an 8.64 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 12:9 K:BB over 16.2 innings spanning four starts. However, Colorado doesn't have many other rotation options to turn to, so Sullivan could remain in a starting role beyond Saturday while Sugano recovers.
