Kody Funderburk
Kody Funderburk Moves to paternity list
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:47 AM
The Twins placed Funderburk on the paternity list Tuesday.
Analysis: The right-hander is stepping away from the team for a few days to spend some time with his growing family, and he'll likely be gone for the entirety of the three-games series against the Mets that begins Tuesday. Funderburk is one of five Twins pitchers with a single save this season, and he's given up just two earned runs over nine innings despite an underwhelming 1.56 WHIP and 8:7 K:BB.
Kendry Rojas
Kendry Rojas Added to big-league roster
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:30 AM
The Twins recalled Rojas from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday.
Analysis: The 23-year-old lefty opened the campaign on St. Paul's injured list due to a hamstring issue, but he was activated April 11 and has fired six scoreless frames in his first two Triple-A appearances. The Twins have an opening in their starting rotation Wednesday against the Mets, and Rojas is a candidate to fill that spot after being called up for his first taste of the big leagues.
Royce Lewis
Royce Lewis Returns from injured list
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:23 AM
The Twins reinstated Lewis (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old landed on the shelf after suffering the knee sprain April 9, and he's back with the Twins after a two-game rehab assignment. Lewis has an .822 OPS with two homers and two steals through 45 plate appearances this season, and he carried that hot bat into his rehab stint with a long ball in each contest.
Masyn Winn
Masyn Winn Stays hot in loss to Marlins
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:06 AM
Winn went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Marlins.
Analysis: After homering and driving in a total of seven runs in the weekend series in Houston, Winn stayed hot at the plate in Monday's series opener in Miami. The 24-year-old entered the Astros series having slashed just .188/.339/.250 with one RBI in his first 14 contests of the season, but Winn has suddenly found his rhythm at the dish.
Jesse Scholtens
Jesse Scholtens Tagged for five runs in loss
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:05 AM
Scholtens (1-1) took the loss Monday versus the Reds after allowing five runs on seven hits and no walks across 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
Analysis: After surrendering two runs during the opening frame, Scholtens settled down pretty well with just one run allowed over the next four innings, but he was unable to make it through the sixth and gave up two more runs on two hits and a hit-by-pitch. The right-hander entered Monday's contest with 9.2 scoreless frames though his first two outings of the campaign, so he should have a decent chance of sticking in Tampa Bay's banged up rotation. Scholtens has a 2.93 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB through three appearances and tentatively lines up to pitch against the Twins this weekend.
CJ Abrams
CJ Abrams Pilfers fifth bag in Monday's loss
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:05 AM
Abrams went 0-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. He was also hit by a pitch.
Analysis: The shortstop has begun to cool down at the plate, going hitless in the last three games, but Abrams is still finding ways to be productive. On the season, he's slashing .312/.432/.584 with six homers, five steals, 14 runs and 19 RBI in 22 contests.
Sal Stewart
Sal Stewart Knocks out eighth homer
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 11:03 AM
Stewart went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and a stolen base during Monday's 6-1 win over the Rays.
Analysis: Stewart hit his eighth homer of the season in the first inning, a 424-foot shot to center. His eight homers are tied for third in MLB, behind just Aaron Judge and Yordan Alvarez. After belting five homers in just 58 plate appearances during his 2025 MLB debut campaign and adding eight through 98 PAs this season, Stewart is impressively leaving the yard once every 12 trips to the batter's box thus far in his brief MLB career.
Michael McGreevy
Michael McGreevy Falters late in loss to Marlins
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:59 AM
McGreevy (1-2) took the loss Monday in Miami, yielding four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 frames. He struck out three.
Analysis: McGreevy was cruising early, retiring the first 10 batters of the game. Then, seven of the final 14 batters he faced reached base, with four of them scoring. McGreevy's velocity was up slightly across the board in this one, but the 91.4 mph he averaged on his four-seamer is still well below last year's 93 mph mark. He's managed a 3.29 ERA and 0.92 WHIP through his first five starts this season, but McGreevy's strikeout rate is down even lower than last year's at 14.3 percent. He's lined up to face the Mariners at home Sunday in his next outing.
Juan Soto
Juan Soto No firm date yet for return
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:59 AM
Soto (calf) is still expected to return from the injured list during a homestand that begins Tuesday against the Twins, but the exact date of his activation remains up in the air, Max Ralph of MLB.com reports. "Yes, he's still on track," Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday. "Not sure which day, but as of right now, the plan is for him to start playing for us at some point in the next homestand."
Analysis: The superstar outfielder began a running progression last Tuesday, but New York needs to see him increase the intensity of that program and demonstrate that he can handle activities like quick stops and starts before he'll be brought back. Soto was slashing .355/.412/.516 through 34 plate appearances when he was injured in early April, and during his 14-game absence the Mets have gone a miserable 3-11, losing their last 11 games.
Agustin Ramirez
Agustin Ramirez Slugs second homer
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:52 AM
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The 24-year-old backstop took Michael McGreevy deep in the fifth inning, giving the Marlins a brief 2-1 lead before they moved ahead for good in the sixth. Ramirez is struggling to build some momentum at the plate, striking out at least once in six straight games while batting just .143 (3-for-21). On the season, he's slashing .222/.297/.370 with two homers, one steal, 11 runs and 11 RBI in 22 contests.
Rhett Lowder
Rhett Lowder Notches third win
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:52 AM
Lowder (3-1) picked up the win Monday against the Rays after giving up one run on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings.
Analysis: The right-hander delivered a second straight quality start and third overall of the campaign, while limiting Tampa Bay to a single first-inning run during Monday's comfortable victory. Lowder has already set a career high with three wins and has enjoyed a productive start to the campaign with a 3.10 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB across 29 innings.
Otto Lopez
Otto Lopez Swipes fourth bag
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:49 AM
Lopez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The Marlins' shortstop extended his hitting streak to nine games with another strong performance. Lopez has had a blistering start to 2026, slashing .337/.391/.554 through 22 contests with 10 extra-base hits, including three homers, along with four steals, 11 RBI and 18 runs while consistently batting in the middle of the order.
Pete Fairbanks
Pete Fairbanks Collects fourth save
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:47 AM
Fairbanks struck out two and gave up one run on one hit in the ninth inning Monday to record his fourth save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: A leadoff triple by Masyn Winn made things interesting, but Fairbanks locked in after a Ramon Urias sacrifice fly brought him home. The right-hander has converted four of five save chances to begin the season, but a couple shaky appearances have left him with a 7.88 ERA through eight innings despite a sharp 1.13 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB. Fairbanks has a firm hold of the closing job for Miami.
Luis Garcia
Luis Garcia Gets MiLB pact from Twins
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:44 AM
The Twins signed Garcia to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Garcia was released by the Mets last week after allowing five earned runs on 11 hits with a 4:2 K:BB over 6.1 innings. The 39-year-old will report to Triple-A St. Paul for now but could earn a promotion sooner rather than later to help out the beleaguered Twins bullpen.
Max Meyer
Max Meyer Fans season-high eight Monday
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:38 AM
Meyer didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out eight.
Analysis: The eight K's were a season high, and Meyer saw a season-high workload with 5.1 innings and 91 pitches (59 strikes). The right-hander is beginning to find a groove, posting a 3.52 ERA and 17:6 K:BB over his last three starts and 15.1 innings, but he has yet to put together a truly dominant outing despite the fact that his slider is producing an eye-popping 50.8 percent whiff rate in the early going. Meyer will look to carry his momentum into his next start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in San Francisco.
Eloy Jimenez
Eloy Jimenez Two hits against southpaw Monday
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:27 AM
Jimenez went 2-for-3 in Monday's win over the Angels.
Analysis: Getting the start at DH and batting cleanup against lefty Reid Detmers, Jimenez banged out singles in the first and sixth innings. The 29-year-old is batting .368 (7-for-19) since being added to the Blue Jays' big-league roster, but all seven knocks have been singles and he has only one RBI. With George Springer (toe) and Addison Barger (ankles) both inching closer to returns, Jimenez's time with Toronto might be running out.
Louis Varland
Louis Varland Brilliant in setup role again
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:23 AM
Varland struck out three over 1.1 perfect innings Monday to record his third hold of the season in a 5-2 win over the Angels.
Analysis: The right-hander has been the Blue Jays' best reliever through the first month of the season, producing a 0.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and dominant 19:3 K:BB through 12.1 innings while allowing just one hit so far on his high-90s four-seamer. Jeff Hoffman righted the ship a bit in Monday's win, striking out the side himself in the ninth while picking up his third save, but the Toronto closer's job security remains low given his three blown saves, 6.97 ERA and 1.94 WHIP. If Hoffman does get removed from the ninth, Varland has positioned himself to be the next man up in save situations.
Aaron Bummer
Aaron Bummer Nabs third hold
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:15 AM
Bummer retired the only batter he faced Monday to record his third hold of the season in a win over the Nationals.
Analysis: The southpaw got the final out of the seventh inning after Bryce Elder was lifted following 98 pitches, getting James Wood to ground out with Atlanta ahead 7-4. Bummer already has more holds than he did in either 2025 or 2024, and while his 4.76 ERA and 1.59 WHIP through 5.2 innings look shaky, he's been tagged with runs in only one of his nine appearances. He's become the newest incarnation of a LOOGY, working less than an inning in six of those outings while frequently being called in for the final out or two of an inning against left-handed hitters.
Tanner Scott
Tanner Scott In mix for saves with Diaz out
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 10:05 AM
Scott will be part of a closer committee for the Dodgers while Edwin Diaz (elbow) is sidelined, Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic report.
Analysis: Scott struggled in the first year of a four-year, $72 million contract in 2025, but he's been excellent so far in the second season of the deal while yielding just one run and posting an 8:0 K:BB in 8.2 frames. Alex Vesia has also pitched well and notched two saves last week while Diaz was unavailable. Scott, Vesia and Blake Treinen could all get opportunities to close games, at least until one of them emerges as Roberts' preferred option.
Gavin Lux
Gavin Lux Ready to resume rehab assignment
Tue, Apr 21, 2026, 9:59 AM
Lux (shoulder/ankle) is expected to resume his rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday or Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: After opening the season on the injured list due to a right shoulder impingement, Lux kicked off a rehab assignment with Durham on April 2 and slashed .103/.297/.172 with a 27 percent strikeout rate over nine games before being shut down after rolling his left ankle April 11. Lux has apparently made good progress following a week-and-a-half-long layoff and is ready to rejoin the Durham lineup, though he'll likely need to show some improvement at the plate before the Rays are ready to activate him from the IL. Tampa Bay has gotten by with a timeshare of Richie Palacios and Ben Williamson at second base through the first three-plus weeks of the season, but Lux should settle in as the primary option at the position once he's reinstated.
