Guillotine leagues are private leagues that consist of 15 teams per league. Each week standings are determined by points scored per team and the lowest scoring team for that week is ELIMINATED from the competition. All of the players from that team are then placed into that league’s Free Agent pool and those players are able to be picked up by any remaining team in the league during FAAB . One team will be eliminated after Scoring Period 1, so In SP 2 there will be 14 teams left. In SP 3 there will be 13 teams left and so on through Scoring Period 11. One team is eliminated each period through SP 11 with that team’s entire roster placed into the Free Agent pool each scoring period. One team’s entire roster gets deposited into FAAB each SP once it is eliminated from the competition and owners have $1,000 in FAAB money to use from Scoring Periods 1 through 11.

Every scoring period is a new scoring period in Guillotine leagues as there is no head-to-head competition and no scoring period scoring average. Every team starts a new scoring period with 0 points and just their point total for that scoring period is determined on whether they survive another scoring period or not. After Scoring Period 11, the four teams remaining compete in a two-week total points competition with the Top 3 teams after Scoring Period 12 earning cash prizes and the fourth team earning $0.
Cash prizes are awarded in U.S. dollars and are awarded to the principal owner of the team. Teams can split prizes among multiple owners by filling out the proper paperwork with SportsHub Games Network, Inc.'s accounting department before season's end. In the event of a tie, cash prizes are divided evenly among those who have tied.

Random League/Draft Spot Selections
The NFBC will set each $100 Guillotine league as they fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Once that league is filled for that date, the league will be closed or signups will continue for a second or third league for that date and time.

Setting Kentucky Derby Style (KDS) Preferences

The NFBC will use Kentucky Derby Style (KDS) preferences for draft preferences in all $100 Guillotine leagues. The Draft Preferences are listed as soon as you click on your team link. There you will see a list of 1 through 15 in order and an "Edit Preferences" link. Edit your list as often as you'd like and just save your preferences each time before the required deadline for this league.

Here's what KDS does: The KDS process allows owners to rank their order of preference for Draft Day, ranking their preferences 1 through 15 BEFORE the leagues are randomly selected. Some owners would rather draft in the middle, if they are selected early in their league; others like to stay near the top and others like to move down to the lower end. KDS allows that if you are fortunate enough. A sample KDS from an owner could look like this:

If an owner wants the third pick and he is selected No. 1 overall in his league, he would choose 3 as his top option and he would then be moved to third in that league on Draft Day. NFBC officials will look at every owner's Draft Preferences after the leagues and orders are randomly selected, pick the highest available preference for each owner and then announce the draft orders for each league.

Online Drafts
All Online Leagues will hold their drafts at Once you have signed up, you'll find your team link for this league under MY TEAMS section. There you'll find a PRE-DRAFT RANK LIST link where you can rank the player default list for all online drafts and all of the players will show up in the draft room exactly as you have ranked them. If you do not setup a pre draft ranking, the player default list will appear as SportsHub Games Network, Inc. has it. Once the league has filled, the DRAFT ROOM link will appear and you'll be able to enter the draft room. There is a DRAFT BOARD link within the draft room that allows you to see colored stickers of every player being selected and to easily see the draft results.

All lineups must be legal before the season starts and the NFBC will correct all roster errors that may have been missed at the draft. All decisions by the NFBC commissioner involving final rosters are official.

Time Limit for Draft: There will be a 1 minute limit for each owner to make his/her pick during each round of the $100 Guillotine draft (see above). If a participant does not make a selection in the allotted time, the computer will select the top player from that owner's Player Queue and if no player is in the queue then the top available player from the player's default list will be selected. If there is a computer failure, an error made with a selection by an owner or any other type of technical malfunction, the draft moderator can stop the draft at any time and correct the error and then resume the draft. The NFBC reserves the right to allow the draft moderator to roll-back the draft if a technical error occurred, but if the desired player had already been selected before the draft was stopped, that player is no longer available to be drafted.

Commissioner Decisions: All decisions made by the NFBC commissioner are final. Tough decisions sometimes must be made about eligibility rules, lineups, etc., and NFBC participants must accept the unbiased ruling of the NFBC commissioner.
Moderated Drafts
If there is a computer failure, an error made with a selection by an owner or any other type of technical malfunction, the draft moderator can stop the draft at any time and correct the error and then resume the draft. The NFBC reserves the right to allow the draft moderator to roll-back the draft if a technical error occurred, but if the desired player had already been selected before the draft was stopped, that player is no longer available to be drafted.

Position Eligibility
The NFBC will use the following position eligibility rules in 2023:

a) Players who played at least 20 games at any position in 2022 will qualify at that position for the entire 2023 NFBC season. Players who play 10 games at a new position in 2023 will be eligible at that position after they have played there for the 10th time during the 2023 MLB regular season. Any player who missed all of the previous season to injury or retirement will qualify at the position he last was eligible for in the majors.

b) If a player did not appear in 20 games at any position, he qualifies at the one position he played most frequently the prior season in the majors. Designated Hitter is considered a position for these purposes (pinch-hitting is not). A player who only qualifies as a DH may only be assigned to the UT position. If a player's most games played at a position is less than 20 and tied among more than one position, the NFBC commissioner will assign eligibility at one position only based on prior year minor league games played.

c) Those players who only pinch-hit in the majors in 2022 will be position eligible according to their minor-league games played status in 2022. They would qualify at the position they played the most games in the minors.

d) Players who played all of 2022 in the minor leagues will be awarded position eligibility for the 2023 NFBC season based on the most games played at all levels in the minors for the previous year. NFBC will determine that one eligible position before Draft Day and that will determine that player's status for 2023 once he is called up to the majors. Those players who only pinch-hit or DH in the minors will only be UT-eligible.

e) The NFBC commissioner will rule on player eligibility prior to the draft as he deems necessary. Those eligibility lists are final and will be available to all owners prior to Draft Day.
Trades Between Managers
To minimize the possibility of collusion, there will be no trading allowed.
Free Agents
***Guillotines have only ELEVEN FAAB runs during the season: the TUESDAY after each 'chop' or scoring period: See dates of scoring periods on Scoring tab in Rules.

All 34 players from that lowest scoring team in the previous scoring period will be placed back into the league's free agent pool on Monday and eligible to be rostered via FAAB on Tuesday night's 10 pm ET FAAB run.

Free agent pickups during the season will include players who are on major-league rosters at the time or players who were selected on Draft Day and later dropped. Even players who were originally selected on Draft Day, cut and then sent to the minors are eligible during the regular season FAAB bidding period as once they are a part of that league they continue to be part of the free agent listing. If the players were good enough to be selected on Draft Day, they are then good enough to remain in that league's free agent pool.

Any player who is not on a team roster within your league and is on a major league roster or once was on an NFBC team in your league is considered a free agent for that league. Even players on the MLB disabled list are eligible to be picked up during the FAAB bidding process. The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents each Sunday at 7 AM ET before the FAAB bidding deadline and a player must have played at least 1 MLB game to be added to the pool at that time. Once a minor-leaguer plays his first game in the majors, he remains in every NFBC FAAB pool whether he returns to the minors or not. Once in the majors, he remains in all FAAB pools. Participants should also note that MLB unsigned veteran free agents at the time of Draft Day are eligible to be drafted in all NFBC leagues. However, after Draft Day they can only be added via free agency once they are added to an MLB 25-man roster.

Free Agent Bidding Process: The free agent system will be a blind bidding process for each individual league. Each team will start with 1,000 free agent dollars for the season, and will be permitted to bid for free agents on a weekly basis with a minimum bid of $1 per player. Teams will not be able to see other team's free agent bids. The team with the highest bid on any given player will be awarded that player. The amount of the winning bid will be deducted from the winning team's free agent dollars. For each winning bid, the winning team must drop a player to make roster room for the free agent acquisition. If a team's free agent dollars go to zero, that team will no longer be allowed to bid for the rest of the season. No bid will be accepted that is larger than a team's available free agent dollars. All bids must be in increments of dollars (no cents). Only winning bids and the runner-up bids on each player will be shown after the FAAB bidding period for each NFBC league.

Bids will be accepted on the league website from Wednesday at 3 PM ET until Tuesday at 10 PM ET in each of these scoring periods. Rosters will be updated shortly after 10 PM ET on Tuesday with the results of all successful bids.

Conditional Bids: Conditional bids can also be offered. In the event you may lose out on a player, you can place conditional bid(s) for other players during the bidding time frame. Subsequent conditional bids will become relevant only if the previous conditional bid fails. Bids do not require conditional bids. Bids may have several sequential conditional bids. Participants should note that the computer takes the HIGHEST BIDS and processes each bid in that order if you have multiple FAAB acquisition bids. ALL BIDS WILL BE PROCESSED IN THE ORDER OF DOLLAR VALUE ASSIGNED TO THOSE FREE AGENTS, highest to lowest.

Acquire Willie Calhoun, $19, cut Jorge Soler
Acquire Eloy Jimenez, $16, cut Jorge Soler
Acquire Nick Gordon, $2, cut Jorge Soler

Bids Limit: There is no limit to the number of bids that may be submitted each scoring period in which bids are permitted.

Tied Bids: If there is a tie bid during the season, the team that receives the player will be determined in order by:

Worst prior scoring period total at the time FAAB was run (Tuesday night using last scoring period's total)

Lowest draft position from Draft Day

Any tied bids during the first FAAB period will be given to the team with the lowest draft order from Draft Day, whether
there were a few games played before then or not

Commissioner Review of Player Drops: All player drops for free agents are subject to review by the NFBC commissioner and can be revoked if the dropped player is deemed too valuable to be offered to that league's free agent pool, thus damaging the credibility of the overall contest. In the case of a star player being dropped in a league for a valid reason, the NFBC commissioner reserves the right to allow the cut but keep the player out of that league's free agent pool for any length of time, possibly the entire season. All decisions by the NFBC commissioner will be final.

The $100 Guillotine is a points-based league designed to approximate the relative contribution value of batter and pitcher outcomes in standard NFBC rotisserie leagues.

A starting lineup will consist of 14 hitters and 9 pitchers, with the same positions and position eligibility of standard NFBC leagues. Scoring is automatic, with each teams highest scoring lineup of 2 catchers, 1 first baseman, 1 second baseman, 1 third baseman, 1 shortstop, 1 middle infielder (2B or SS), 1 corner infielder (1B or 3B), 5 Outfielders, 1 Utility Hitter and 9 pitchers counting toward that teams points.

Every team's optimal scoring lineup will be automatically scored each week (Monday through Sunday) from the required 34 starting positions.
Guillotine scoring for the regular season will be final as of Monday at 9 am ET after the Period ends. Any scoring changes after that from Elias or Major League Baseball will not be backloaded or change the league standings. The qualifying teams are final as of 9 am ET on Monday after the Period ends. Should two teams tie for the last place spot, the tie-breaker would be the lowest points in the previous Period.
Scoring Periods & Playoffs
The Guillotine regular season will consist of 11 scoring Periods with one team being ELIMINATED each period for having the lowest score. Period 8 will consist of three scoring weeks, while every other Period will consist of two full weeks. Scores for each week will be added together to determine the final Period standings. Four teams will survive and advance to the Championship Round, which consists of two weeks with the Top 3 teams earning prize money. Here’s the scoring periods:
