The National Fantasy Baseball Championship set another record in 2025 as it awarded more than $5.1 million in prize money with a record 24,400 teams competing within all of our contests. This was the 22nd straight year of the NFBC and it was our biggest and best season yet.
After a one-year hiatus from the East Coast, the NFBC returned with two days of Live Events at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Robbinsville, New Jersey. We hosted five Live Events on March 14th and 15th and it was such a success that we will be returning there in 2026 and expanding to three days of Live Events. The NFBC then returned to Las Vegas for a 22nd straight year March 19-25 with six days of drafts and auctions at Park MGM.
Our signature event, the NFBC Main Event, sold out for a 21st STRAIGHT YEAR with 855 teams. This marked the second straight year that the Main Event finished with 57 leagues and 855 teams. Todd Hoppe of Portland, Oregon won the 2025 NFBC Main Event title and the $200,000 grand prize, becoming our 21st different Main Event overall champion in 22 years. Only Lindy Hinkelman has won this overall title twice. Hoppe, 41, was in first place among 855 Main Event teams for much of the second half of the season. This team, which he drafted on the final night of the drafting season at the latest possible time (11:30 pm ET), moved into the overall lead in Week 7 and never dropped out of the Top 3 after that. He held off all challengers and finished with 7,771.5 points, a 332.5 point advantage over Scott Slezak.
Thomas Warner of Houston, Texas won the 2025 Rotowire Online Championship and the $150,000 grand prize as he topped a record field of 2,808 teams. Warner competed in only three Rotowire OC leagues in 2025, but he turned that $1,000 into $151,400 as he led his March 15th team to the league and overall titles. His SNUGGLE BUNNY team had an uphill battle to win his first NFBC national championship as it didn't reach the Top 10 overall until the first week of August. It was still in third place heading into the final week, but it finally jumped into the lead over the final weekend and it held off Carl Jones on the final day of the season to win the $150,000 grand prize.
Mike Mager of Winston-Salem, North Carolina successfully defended his NFBC Auction Championship and won the $30,000 grand prize for the second straight year. Mike won the 2025 NFBC Auction Championship title and the $30,000 grand prize against a record field of 195 teams. Last year, Mike won the title while competing in the Las Vegas $2500 Auction Championship League. This year, he won the title while competing in the debut New Jersey $2500 Auction Championship League. He again won the $17,500 league prize and the $30,000 grand prize as he becomes our second two-time Auction Championship National Champion. He held onto that top spot from the first week of August through September, finishing with 1,668 points to finish 69 points ahead of his good friend Marc Winokur.
Speaking of winning multiple national titles, James Tomony of Madison, Wisconsin won the 2025 NFBC Draft Champions National Championship and the $40,000 grand prize after topping a record field of 5,030 teams. This is James's THIRD NFBC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP as he previously won the 2016 Rotowire Online Championship overall title and the 2020 Sprint Main Event overall title. Melvin Taveras of Waxhaw, North Carolina won our fifth annual NFBC Online Auction Championship as he topped a record field of 1,020 teams to win the record $12,500 grand prize. He won the overall title with 9,355.5 points, finishing 483.5 points ahead of Sean Graham.
Zach Waxman of Ancaster, Ontario won our third annual NFBC Gladiator Championship and the $10,000 grand prize. This unique contest had drafts throughout November, December and January and teams drafted their 23 starters and then let that roster ride during the year. There were no Free Agent pickups. There were no Set Lineup decisions. What you drafted is what you had for the entire year and that was that. Zach's team stayed healthy long enough to capture the national championship against a record field of 1,950 teams. Not only did Zach win this NFBC National Championship in 2025, but he also won the NFBC's Best Ball Championship. He now has won THREE NFBC National Championships, having won the debut NFBC Online Auction Championship in 2021.
Zach Waxman won our third annual NFBC Best Ball Championship and that record $12,000 grand prize as he bested a field of 804 teams. Bryan Bevis of Victoria, Minnesota won the 2025 NFBC Best Ball Cutline Championship and that $50,000 grand prize. He defeated a field of 1,080 teams for this top prize, topping a "final table" of 20 finalists over the last three weeks for the title. Bryan finished first at "the final table" of 20 teams over the last three weeks, edging Darren Wan by 28.0 points for the title. Bryan had three teams finish in the Top 5 overall with 3rd place and 5th place finishes to go along with his title team.
For the fifth straight year, the NFBC ran the Diamond Challenge Roto and Points games. In the private high-dollar NFBC leagues, NFBC Hall of Famer Clark Olson joined the NFBC Platinum League for the first time in 2025 and walked away with the $120,000 league prize. He led this league for much of the season and won the title by 15.5 points. Clark became the 10th inductee into the NFBC Hall of Fame during a special ceremony at Park MGM in March. He wore his gold jacket to the Platinum League draft and it obviously was the lucky charm he needed to win this league title.
Bill Phipps made a triumphant return to the NFBC Diamond Auction League this year as he returned after a six-year hiatus to win the $75,000 league prize in convincing fashion. Bill also won the Diamond Auction League title in 2017 and is the only other multiple winner of this contest beside Shawn Johnson, who has won the Diamond Auction League title six times. Team Phipps finished with 112 points to win the title by 18 points.
Phil Dussault of Terrebonne, Quebec added to his impressive resume by winning the 2025 NFBC Diamond League and that $75,000 league prize in dominating fashion. Phil finished with 132.5 points thanks to 73 offensive points as he won this league by a whopping 24.5 points.

Winning 15-Team Super League titles and $20,000 each were Dave McDonald of Brunswick, Ohio and James Gabal of New York City. Jeff Zimmerman of Mulvane, Kansas and Kevin Krieger of New York City tied in the March 25th Super League and split the $20,000 league prize. Bob Catsiroumpas of London, Ontario added to his impressive NFBC resume by winning BOTH NFBC 12-Team Super League titles and those $18,000 league prizes. He also won a 12-Team Super League title in 2023, so he now has THREE titles in the last three years. He finished with 96 points in the March 18th Super League to win by 16 points, and his team finished with 103 points in the March 25th Super League to win by 18.5 points.
We again hosted our NFBC $1500 AL-Only and NL-Only Auction Leagues Online and this year we crowned two worthy champions. Jason has now won back-to-back NFBC AL-Only Auction League titles, to go along with his three NFBC NL-Only Auction League titles, while this was Craig’s first NFBC NL-Only Auction League title.
Michael Brophy of Chicago, Illinois won the debut NFBC Champions League Qualifier Championship in a wild finish that saw four teams finish within 6.5 points of each other. Brophy won the CLQ Championship League and the $30,000 league prize with 111 points, finishing 4 points ahead of Toby Guevin for the title. The CLQ Championship debuted in 2024 as a new "sidepot" national championship where every team that entered put $250 into the sidepot. Participants then picked one Main Event team, one Rotowire Online Championship team and one $150 Best Ball Championship team to represent them in the CLQ and stats from all three teams (30 stat categories) were accumulated among the 201 participants. The 30 stat categories were updated each day and the Top 15 finishers in 2024 were invited to participate in a 15-team Las Vegas Auction League with 100 percent of the sidepot going to the Top 3 finishers in 2025.
